Any ivf pregnancies ?

I'm only 6+2 and super paranoid about absolutely everything. Had my fet on the 28/09, it was our second fet after the first one failed, I had bleeding before I even got to the otd. My scan is this Thursday and it's fair to say I'm bricking it.

Would be nice to chat with some ladies who've done ivf, I have been keeping an eye on the June 2022 thread but sometimes I find I can't relate.

Thank you. Glad to know I'm not alone in my worrying. I'm guessing it never ends now as even if we make it through the pregnancy ok you then worry about them for the rest of your life!

Holskey · 27/10/2021 18:31

@whataglouriousthingtobe I think you'll be fine then. I wondered if you might be less than 6+5, but you're not so you should see a heartbeat 💗 Hope it goes well.

@lucyinthe Massive congratulations! 🎊 👏 6th transfer! You absolutely deserve this.

lucyinthe · 27/10/2021 19:19

Thank you @Holskey ❤️ Yes 5 failed transfers before this so it's certainly been a journey. Also got pregnant naturally last year during lockdown but that was ectopic. Just hope this is our time for some happiness.

Has anyone been feeling any cramps? I'm not sure if it's the progesterone pessaries or normal pregnancy cramps or a bit of both?

claresp · 27/10/2021 21:10

I had cramps when I was on the pessaries and then for a wee while after too. Felt slightly like period cramps. Think it's normal.

Holskey · 27/10/2021 22:25

I'm not on any meds at all and I still have cramps. Had them with my last successful FET and they freaked me out, but I'm more calm about them now. Totally normal.

lucyinthe · 28/10/2021 08:12

Thanks @claresp & @Holskey x

SerendipitySunshine · 28/10/2021 08:31

Yes I had lots of cramps between weeks 5-7.

beachbum85 · 28/10/2021 12:08

Congratulations to everyone! It's such a journey to get here, but so great to see things going well for everyone here :)

I had quite a few cramps too, mostly earlier on but sometimes still happens. These are my last few days on progesterone too (10w now, fresh transfer) but no prednisolone or clexane @lucyinthe sorry

@whataglouriousthingtobe so sorry you had to deal with shingles throughout your 2ww - that must have been so stressful on top of everything else! Good luck for your scan today, and let us know how it goes xx

Just foudnd out that our 12w scan will actually be at 14w, so a couple of extra weeks of waiting nervously here!

whataglouriousthingtobe · 28/10/2021 12:13

Not good news here. No fetal pole seen, I should be 7 weeks but measuring 6+5 which is what the hospital put me at. The nurse at the clinic was not very hopeful and said by now she would expect to see a fetal pole and heartbeat. She is going to refer me straight to the hospital

Hey everyone, congratulations on all these ivf babies - it is super heartening! I recognise some names from before on the ttc threads so it's nice to see that some are through and have had successful transfers etc. Also an IVF-er, I'm 33wks with first baby, from 1st transfer (my god do I feel lucky).

I tried to keep my expectations really low and we told almost no one for months. I still dont tell people but at 33 wks, anyone who sees me knows. But yes, like all of you had lots of anxiety about it and every little movement. I have a great gyno who has supported us from the very first fertility tests we did and that has helped.

I just wanted to wish you all so much luck on this journey that can be so fraught but also has the potential for joy. Xxx

Holskey · 28/10/2021 13:04

@whataglouriousthingtobe I'm so sorry to read your devastating news. Will you have another scan to be sure? Is there any hope? Flowers

Holskey · 28/10/2021 13:05

@florarenniemackintosh congratulations! Not long now 💕

whataglouriousthingtobe · 28/10/2021 13:10

@Holskey they're scanning me at the epu Monday and I'll have a clear answer by then.
She wouldn't say! She said she might be able to see a tiny flicker of something but by now she'd expect to see the fetal pole without questioning it. Gestational sac has grown so I'm now measuring 6+5 which is what the hospital dates would put me at aswell. So I don't get it Sad

OP posts:
Holskey · 28/10/2021 13:30

@whataglouriousthingtobe it must be so confusing. Two days difference isn't much, and as that's consistent with your last scan, there must have been growth. But I think if the nurse says it doesn't look good, she must be quite sure. If there's any chance it can work out then I really hope it does.

beachbum85 · 28/10/2021 13:32

oh @whataglouriousthingtobe I'm really sorry :( glad to hear you've got another scan with the EPU coming up, but I imagine these are going to a few very difficult days wondering... sending you lots of strength and love! I don't really know it means to have a gestational sac developing without seeing the fetal pole, but I'll be keeping everything tightly crossed for a happy surprise on Monday xx

RosieLeeD · 29/10/2021 07:31

Hi All,

I'm new to this thread and thought it would be really nice to speak to others that are going through similar experiences and wish you all well on your journeys.

@lucyinthe I also have my first scan on 11th November following an FET and I can certainly relate in respect of all the medications! I'm taking prednisone, hydroxychloroquine, omeprazole, oestrogen (tablets and patches), progesterone (pessaries and injections), fragmin (same as clexane I believe), baby aspirin and intralipids every 4 weeks. I had to create a chart to tick them all off and have alarms going off on my phone at all times of the day!

I've been experiencing some mild cramps too which come and go and sounds like these are very common. I'm so over sensitive to any mild twinge or sensation since sadly our last FET was successful but I had a missed miscarriage that I only found out about at the first scan.

We have also been trying to conceive for 5. We have had three miscarriages (2 natural and 1 IVF) but this is our first attempt on the immunosuppressants so I'm hoping it will make all the difference but I'm really struggling with the wait to the scan, just trying to keep my mind occupied and keep positive. How are you coping? X

lucyinthe · 29/10/2021 08:06

I'm so sorry @whataglouriousthingtobe take care of yourself as much as possible this weekend 💐

Wow @RosieLeeD I didn't think I'd read of anyone on more meds than me but think you deserve a medal for being on all of that! Got to be organised to remember it all haven't you. I'll take anything in any dose if it means a successful pregnancy though. Sorry about your previous losses, like you I'm hoping the immunosuppressants are going to do the trick for me this time too.

I'm feeling a bit more positive as the days go on but the last few months (and years) have took its toll. I got signed off work in august as I was struggling to cope, my boss was aware of everything I've been going through but she still continued to mount more pressure on me. Her favourite quote was 'keeping you busy will take your mind off things' but it ended up having the opposite effect. I quit at the start of September and haven't been working since which has been really nice but I'm going to have to find another job now as we need the money. Looking for something as stress free as poss.

RosieLeeD · 29/10/2021 19:40

@lucyinthe Yes you certainly have to be organised but it's not so bad, it's the only thing I feel like I have any control over if that makes any sense. It's the emotional part I have the problem with!

I'm glad you are feeling ok, I think that's half of the battle! It certainly does take it's toll, I don't feel like the same person as I was 5 years ago. I'm sorry you've had such a tough time at work too - IVF etc is hard enough even without all of life's other stresses. I'm in a similar position, we have been short staffed for a long time and I often work more than I should. The only saving grace is that I am still working at home full time. I've often thought about leaving but I'm the main earner and I fear it would cause us even more stress in the long run so I'm just trying to put my boundaries in as much as possible. Do you think you might be able to find a job where you can work at home at least some of the time? It has become a lot more popular/requested since the pandemic and more employers seem to be open to hybrid working but I guess it depends on the type of work. I wish you all the best in finding something that suits you and gives you the time to focus on your pregnancy x

Fingers crossed that the pred will do the trick. If you are interested there is a thread called immune/NK cells - pred thred 28 which is all women on immunosuppressants I believe. I haven't really looked at it yet but a lady who had been through a similar journey and now has a little girl told me about it.

@whataglouriousthingtobe I'm really sorry to hear what you are going through and I hope you have the support you need. Will your partner be able to attend the scan with you? I think most units are allowing that now but certainly request it if you can x

I hope everyone else has restful weekends ahead! X

LemonyT · 01/11/2021 12:29

Hello all. Please can I join the thread?

First congrats all round!

I’m hoping for a bit of a hand hold until my first scan (am 5w+3d today) and don’t feel it’s appropriate to ask on the fertility 2ww chat I was on as a lot of the ladies there sadly didn’t get their BFPs, and a lot of them still anxiously waiting for their BFP.

I’m so happy to be pregnant however am apprehensive as my last two transfers were also positive but then ended in a chemical and an ectopic.
Hope everyone’s doing well.

VenusStarr · 01/11/2021 12:56

Tentatively stepping in to say hi. I'm 4+5 weeks after my first FET. My fresh cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy and I've had recurrent losses prior to this (this is my 6th pregnancy but no living children).

I'm on a shed load of meds, like you @lucyinthe I'm on prednisolone, hydroxychloroquine, intralipids, clexane, aspirin, lubion and cyclogest. Got some pretty impressive bruises. I am on the pred thread but haven't shared an update with them yet, waiting for my first scan on 12 November.

Had a really tough day yesterday, felt dizzy and sick and slept most of the day. I'm taking it as a good sign as not had strong symptoms in previous pregnancies. Plus I had no symptoms in my tww so it was a real shock that it worked. I've only had a beta blood test, couldn't face testing at home. After 4 years ttc and 5 losses, I really hope this I'd our take home baby.

Hi @Holskey 👋

I'm so sorry this is happening @whataglouriousthingtobe ❤️ sending lots of love.

Holskey · 01/11/2021 16:22

Hi @LemonyT 👋
I know what you mean: it's just not right to discuss anxiety issues after a bfp on threads like that. How are you feeling? Any symptoms?

Hi @VenusStarr!
Sorry you're not feeling great. I was ever so slightly nauseous before getting my bfp and it is just worsening now. I find it reassuring, even though I know it doesn't prevent bad things happening. It's a reminder I'm pregnant. I was very nauseous up until maybe 16wks after my last successful FET so I think my body hates hcg. I'm not complaining though. Just glad the hcg is there! Did you visit friends over the weekend as you planned?

Holskey · 01/11/2021 16:23

@whataglouriousthingtobe how did your scan today go?

whataglouriousthingtobe · 01/11/2021 16:35

Well still none the wiser. Went for my scan and they could see a mass of some kind sandwiched between the yolk sac and uterine wall measuring 1.8mm.
She said it could be a fetal pole but because it's so tight in there couldn't check for any cardiac activity. They're not willing to write it off as it could be an early fetal pole. So I have to go back in 7 days for a scan, again. Gestational sac has doubled in size and is now 20mm. Honestly my head is 🤯 @Holskey

whataglouriousthingtobe · 01/11/2021 16:37

Not sure what's going on with my dates though, the hospital today had me at 6+6 where by my ivf dates I should be 7+4. I'm hoping I have a late implanter and it's hiding away!

Hi just popping in & looking forward to hang out with others going through a similar journey.

I'm 5+3weeks had a 3day embryo transfer. We don't have any kids and this is our first ivf.

I currently have no symptoms as all the symptoms I have right now are also side effects of progesterone e.g feeling sleepy 24/7 and slightly bigger boobs which are not too painful anymore unlike when I was pumping all those injections 4 weeks ago .
