I'm only 6+2 and super paranoid about absolutely everything. Had my fet on the 28/09, it was our second fet after the first one failed, I had bleeding before I even got to the otd. My scan is this Thursday and it's fair to say I'm bricking it.

Would be nice to chat with some ladies who've done ivf, I have been keeping an eye on the June 2022 thread but sometimes I find I can't relate.

@strawberrysummer19 I think many nhs places now will offer an nipt (as opposed to the invasive tests) if your results come back bad. But that's still taking up time. A private one you can do early and know where you stand. Issue is its about £400. I don't actually think it's free at my nhs though either. I'm just hoping mine is OK and I'm trying not to think about it. But it's not a great limbo to be in. But then all of this stuff seems to be like that!

strawberrysummer19 · 18/01/2022 09:03

@paintfairy yeah it's a tough one, i just wouldn't want to be where my friend is now waiting but as you say trying not to think about it and it may not even come back high risk yet. X

LemonyT · 18/01/2022 09:30

For some reason both my fertility clinic and my birthing hospital did my nuchal tests/ scan. They were only a day apart and I did tell my midwife I was booked twice - so I could free up a space for another lady- but she told me to go to both!

My clinic made me wait and gave me results there and then after the blood tests etc but my hospital sent me the results in the post. As long as you’re low risk they told me not to worry about NIPT unless you are really concerned. My results varied quite a lot between the two hospitals! So I’m not sure it’s hugely accurate.

strawberrysummer19 · 18/01/2022 10:07

@LemonyT that's good you get them quick, as far as I know we are given a 2 week window for results (but my friend got called on day 10) so just feel it's a long time to wait but like you say if your low risk then that's fine - it's just she's the same age as me (39) although hers was natural conception and mine ivf and she said it would be high risk anyway because of age ! Which I know believe from here is not actually true.

My daughter is 10 and I just remember getting low risk and didn't have to go for nipt but as I say I was 29 then!!

Least my scan is tomorrow and maybe the scan itself will give me some reassurance x

Holskey · 18/01/2022 11:02

@LemonyT fascinating that your risks were different! Makes me want to know more about these tests to know how they can vary.

@strawberrysummer19 you're at an increased risk when you're older, but the risk is still small overall, and only a very small number of people get the worst news. You're not even that old! My embryos are from when I was 36 and my risk was 1:100,000 in my first pregnancy (it's something like 1:25,507 this time - embryo still from when I was 36). My SIL at 30 had a higher (but still very low) risk so age isn't everything.

It's normal to worry though. My thoughts have turned to hoping my 20 week scan doesn't find any abnormalities 🙏

strawberrysummer19 · 18/01/2022 11:46

@Holskey I guess I just feel for my friend and it's just so worrying. But I may not even get bad news!!
Ah I know I feel in this process it's always something isn't it!! I think by 12 weeks you'd feel ' safe ' but like you say you then worry about the 20.
I'm so glad I'm working from home today
And a nice day off tomorrow
Mil is coming to the scan with me then we are having lunch so that will be nice
X

2mumlife · 18/01/2022 14:23

@strawberrysummer19 I'd say just try to think positively :)

strawberrysummer19 · 18/01/2022 15:09

@2mumlife yes exactly that, I think it's feels more close to home as she's my best friend but hopefully she will get good news.

I'll keep everyone posted with the outcome xx

Hope Everyone is doing well xx

paintfairy · 18/01/2022 16:11

@strawberrysummer19 you are a high risk pregnancy because of ivf and age but that has nothing to do with the tests. Yes age is a factor but only a small one. There are so many others and as @Holskey says the risks vary a lot.
@LemonyT That's interesting! And somewhat concerning. You would expect them to be similar? As far as I'm aware the results just go into a calculator which then gives you your outcome. The fluid and blood tests should come back pretty much the same so that's not exactly reassuring. 🙈

Donimo · 18/01/2022 16:18

I have had my 12 week scan today. And all was good with my twins. From IVF dates should be 12+4 but one twin measured 13 weeks and the other 12+6. So they have changed my due date.

Re the screening I was given the NT measurements at 1.8mm and 1.6mm which I was told were normal (over 3.5mm is high risk re measurements). They then did a blood test to do a combined test... which got a little confusing as I am having twins. But advised I would be called within 2 weeks if a risk of 1 in 150 or more otherwise will get a letter confirming the results.

As I am having twins who share a planceta I will have fortnightly scans from 16 weeks. Which will be nice reassurance.

Hope everyone else is doing well

Holskey · 18/01/2022 17:22

Congratulations on your scan @Donimo. I'm curious: did they change your due date based on the larger or on the smaller baby?

Donimo · 18/01/2022 17:37

@Holskey they went with the larger baby. To be honest as I will be scanned regularly and most likely booked in for a planned c- section depending on all the scans. I am not sure the few days here or there make too much difference.

strawberrysummer19 · 18/01/2022 17:51

@Donimo congratulations on your scan - all sounds very good x

strawberrysummer19 · 18/01/2022 17:52

@paintfairy I see, that makes perfect sense x

Holskey · 18/01/2022 21:49

@Donimo no I agree, by the time we get past very premature, a few days doesn't matter. It's great they're both such good sizes though 🙂

Anyone else having real difficulty with their coccyx? It's so bad it's quite a performance to lift my arse from a chair!

Porridgeislife · 19/01/2022 05:07

@Holskey yes, this has crept up in the last week making my desk chair very uncomfortable. I’ve booked a womens physio for next week as coccyx pain is a symptom of pelvic girdle pain. I’m only 15w so it will only get worse for me from here.

Sitting on a wheat bag relieves it a lot for me, if that helps?

2mumlife · 19/01/2022 07:53

@Donimo Congratulations on the positive scan! I find it so weird that we can measure ahead of dates when we know when everything happened! They must just be a good size :)

strawberrysummer19 · 19/01/2022 10:37

12 week scan all good and baby measuring 13+1 which is exactly what I am today

Now for the bloods results x

LemonyT · 19/01/2022 10:47

Congrats on your scans @strawberrysummer19 @Donimo

@Holskey no coccyx pain yet. But I am feeling really bloated and heavy in the evenings - especially after eating. But then in the mornings the bellys completely compact again! Anyone else experiencing this?

paintfairy · 19/01/2022 11:03

@strawberrysummer19 congratulations! I'm pleased it went well.

I had a consultant appointment today so I asked my screening results. My downs one is 1 in 3500, which isn't a concern to them. But should I be worried? I don't know if to get an NIPT for reassurance?

2mumlife · 19/01/2022 13:36

@strawberrysummer19 Congratulations on the positive scan!

@paintfairy I don't think you should worry x

Holskey · 19/01/2022 15:57

Wheat bag, thanks @Porridgeislife. I'll give it a try👍

@LemonyT I bloat after everything I eat and my bump is definitely smaller first thing in the morning!

Congratulations on your scan @strawberrysummer19

@paintfairy those are really low odds. There are so many things with a greater chance of happening that you are not currently worrying about. I'd only do a nipt in your shoes if I wouldn't miss the money.

Cakecakecheese · 19/01/2022 16:52

Has anyone else had to argue with their midwife over their due date? I'm 10+3 and they had me at 7 weeks! No wonder I'd had no contact til now! I had to insist she change it. I spoke to my friend who had her IVF baby at the same hospital and the same thing happened toher. Clearly they don't understand how IVF pregnancies work.

paintfairy · 19/01/2022 17:02

@Holskey I'd never not miss £400 🙈🤣 Yeah, maybe you are right. I just wondered what odds other people got and i should be worried. Its a difficult one!
@Cakecakecheese no i didn't? When I called to self refer they asked my lmp and I refused to give that as it would be wrong (although it would have put me further ahead?). So I explained and told her my ivf due date. At the actual booking appointment we went through it again and she was still OK with it, but explained it might change later. At my 12 week scan I was measuring a day ahead, so it's moved my EDD forwards by one day. So it's all about right.

I'm not sure how they can have you at less weeks than you are? Unless they took the ivf date as your lmp date? 🤔

Holskey · 19/01/2022 18:06

@Cakecakecheese they were only interested in my lmp during my last pregnancy (I found it weird actually - so rigid) so this time I worked out what my lmp dates would be to line up with my IVF dates and gave them that. How have they lost 3 weeks? Did you give them your transfer date and they've just out that down as lmp? At least you've managed to sort it before your scan was running late.
