Pregnancy after miscarriage

Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

Well I can report that things are definitely moving again, and it's such a relief! 😁 I'll be continuing with the fybogel!

@Hopingforarainbow27 I had terrible pain and swelling in my boobs which stopped almost overnight as I went into 2nd trimester. But as Loulou says, it's different for everyone x

OnceUponAThread · 25/01/2022 14:26

@Hopingforarainbow27 mine aren't as sore now I'm in second trimester. Am hoping that's normal and not a sign something has gone wrong.

One day (assuming this all works out) I will be thrilled I had an almost entirely symptomless first 15 weeks (so far) I am sure. But at the moment it's just really stressful because it makes me doubt the pregnancy is ok / there.

Loulou237 · 26/01/2022 16:19

Hi @OnceUponAThread I hope you’re not feeling too worried. I do think you are rather lucky not to have symptoms, one of my friends had the same and wouldn’t have even known she was pregnant if not for the bump! I know you won’t feel the luck until afterwards though.

People in middle of second trimester… @GinnyBee I think you’re a bit further along than I am? Have you experienced really bad aches across the whole of the abdomen? I’ve googled and it says it’s normal and round ligament pain but I’m obviously ignoring that and panicking. Got the 20 week scan tomorrow so hopefully that will put my mind to rest if all is as it should be!

Hope everyone is having a good week. @Hopingforarainbow27 do you have your scan this week? Xx

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 16:25

@Loulou237 I had it this morning. I thought I was 6weeks but measured 5weeks 5 days and they only seen a yolk sac so I'm a bit anxious as I knew my dates etc so worried nothing is going to progress

Loulou237 · 26/01/2022 16:35

@Hopingforarainbow27 that’s amazing news, it is so difficult for them to measure at this stage this is why my hospital refuse to scan before 7 weeks as they don’t like disappointing people when they’re looking for a heartbeat etc. honestly it sounds like everything is perfect. Will you have another scan in a week or so? Xx

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 16:44

@Loulou237 yes I've got a scan booked for two weeks which will definitely be a big one for me as my babies never grow last 6 weeks

Loulou237 · 26/01/2022 16:54

@Hopingforarainbow27 well good luck with it and I hope the two weeks go quick! In the meantime Google how often they get the dates wrong at early stages, this is why they don’t do your due date til the 12 week one - they changed mine every time I had a scan so it’s such a rough guess at this stage! Xxx

GinnyBee · 26/01/2022 17:34

@Loulou237 I've had round ligament pain, yes, but generally only on one side at a time, and only when I move suddenly or something, not a continuous ache. I know some people do have aches though.

OnceUponAThread · 26/01/2022 17:37

Try not to panic. (Though I know it's impossible).

A couple of days either way is perfectly normal. And it sounds like everything is as it should be progression wise.

X

Oti22 · 26/01/2022 17:44

@Loulou237 I’m 21 weeks and I’ve had round ligament pain low down on my left side which was worse after exercise and lots of walking over the weekend. Last night I was woken by tightness/pain/ache on the top of my bump by my belly button and my bump was noticeably higher on higher on one side - seems to have settled now and he’s kicking away so I think it’s all ‘normal’ but if you’re at all worried maybe message your midwife. x

Oti22 · 26/01/2022 17:45

@Hopingforarainbow27 my dates were a few days out early on so try not to worry and good luck for your next scan x

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 17:46

@Loulou237 @OnceUponAThread thank you both. I know I'm just disappointed and know it's going to be a long 2 weeks! Hoping this is my time!

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 17:46

@Oti22 how far along are you now?

chasingtherainbow1 · 26/01/2022 18:00

@Hopingforarainbow27 I know exactly how you feel. But it feels so different when it's happening to you doesn't it. I got a positive opk on 01 Jan so will have ovulated 3 days after you. My scan is only 2 days after yours so I think we're going to be in the same boat seeing no heartbeat. That's if I even see a gestational and yolk sac!

What a long and frustrating process but I try and think about why I'm doing it. My fertility professor said that perseverance is key to having a baby so we just have to keep positive and keep going and believe it will be ok 🤞💕

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 18:11

@chasingtherainbow1 aw let me know how you get on! 💕 I know it's so hard when you've experienced loss. I'm going to try keel distracted for the next two weeks

mummysept22 · 26/01/2022 18:13

Im 5w 5d and past the point where it wasn't meant to be last time!! I know there is a long way to go but feeling so much happier. I think I will be calmer when I get to 6 weeks too. When people say you've booked an early scan, is this private and how do you do that? X

@Hopingforarainbow27 completely understand. It's so scary and the wait is frightening. But I think the yolk sac is a great sign.

I found out I'm measuring about a week behind at my 12 week scan, so my due date was adjusted. But docs were confident nothing was wrong.

Look after yourself and get lots of rest over the next fortnight. X

@mummysept22 I got mine through the NHS due to miscarriage early last year and massive anxiety.

I called up my GP and said I was freaking out and they referred me.

Some trusts will only scan you early if you've had three miscarriages, although mine says that as standard but allow it with a GP referral.

Definitely worth a try ringing GP, but if they say no, you can book privately.

Just Google private scans near you and look for one with really good reviews.

Costs can vary massively (depending on where you are based) so worth checking before you book.

Also, if I were you I would ask to pay in advance. When I booked an early scan and discovered my MMC - then having to go through paying for it somehow made everything a million times worse.

I was so shocked and upset I could barely remember my pin.

Oti22 · 26/01/2022 18:55

@Hopingforarainbow27 I was 21 weeks on Monday. I saw a fetal pole at what I thought was 6 weeks + 1 and the measurements were in keeping with that but by my due date i’d have been 6 + 5.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 22:59

@OnceUponAThread thank you. It's such an anxious time for us who has experienced loss. I hope it progresses 💕

Congratulations on getting this far and feeling good about it! I had a scan at 6 weeks because I was really anxious too. I basically called my GP to tell them I was pregnant, they referred me to the midwives, and when I spoke to my midwife I asked if I could have an early scan as I was so worried. Despite having only (knowingly) had 2 miscarriages, she booked it no problem. It put my mind at ease sooo much - until a few weeks later when the 12 week scan was coming up! Then I convinced myself all over again that it couldn't be happening! Wishing you all the best with it, whatever the outcome. Ask for what you need x
Loulou237 · 27/01/2022 14:40

Thanks ladies, everything good at our 20 week scan this morning so I think it’s just growing pains. Don’t remember it with my first pregnancy so much but I guess I had more time to rest then without a toddler!
Grin
Hope everyone is having a good week xx

GinnyBee · 27/01/2022 15:36

Loulou237 · 27/01/2022 16:09

@GinnyBee thanks! I guess it’s real now! Xx
