Pregnancy after miscarriage

Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

Hi ladies, hope I can join? Currently 12dpo and got my positive yesterday (seems pretty strong?). I’ve had three miscarriages sadly to date, my last being June 2020 so have been running the gamut of testing since then and took part in quenbys CERM trial where I tested positive for endometrisis so was given the capsules.

Congratulations op!!
I had a MMC a couple of years ago and found out at the 12 week scan the baby had stopped growing at about 9 weeks. I was completely devastated and it took me an awfully long time to recover. I think I almost had ptsd from what happened at the scan.
I then discovered I was pregnant last November and was a nervous wreck. I had an early scan at 8 weeks which showed a heartbeat which was very reassuring. Although that didn’t last long as the previous baby had died at 9 weeks so I felt certain it was going to happen again. I was an absolute nervous wreck at my 12 week scan but everything was ok and I have never felt relief like it. The wait between your 12 and 20 weeks scans is horrible because although you’re starting to develop a slight bump, there’s often no movement so you’re constantly worrying if everything is still ok. I ended up having to have fortnightly/monthly scans for the rest of my pregnancy due to placenta previa and growth but I found them really reassuring.
I am now here with my gorgeous 3 month old son sleeping on me and I honestly never thought I would get to this point. I found that loss before pregnancy honestly robs you of being able to relax and enjoy it. I was so envious of those people that could. Of course in hindsight I wish I had just enjoyed it more but that’s much easier said than done. No words of advice other to say I was convinced I was going to have another miscarriage or that something would be wrong but actually the odds are really in your favour. Best of luck and I really hope you get your rainbow baby soon xxx

Selena33 · 07/10/2021 09:27

Sorry you had to go through that but congratulations @showmethegin! That is a strong line 😊 It’s also positive they found something and you are getting it treated. Are you on antibiotics for endometritis?

@LouLikesLollies it’s just so tough isn’t it. I don’t think the anxiety goes away until you have your baby in your arms. It’s such a shame and I wish we could just enjoy a pregnancy in the very naive and joyful way some people do when they haven’t experienced any loss. However I also think it makes us stronger. I’m so glad it worked out for you second time ❤️

@Selena33 Thank you so much. You’re so right it does make us stronger. I’ve also found that when I’m beyond exhausted in the middle of the night I just look at him and feel so grateful to have him. It makes it all so worth it. Have everything crossed for you xxx

Selena33 · 07/10/2021 11:31

Aww that’s lovely @LouLikesLollies and thank you xxx

Thanks @Selena33

After discussing my dates (I ovulated about day 16/17) I should be 5 weeks tomorrow rather than Wednesday and the scan was in keeping with this which is the best I could ask for. Spotting has stopped completely too and no more after the scan. Another scan next Friday🤞🏻

Lovely to hear your happy ending too @LouLikesLollies

Congratulations @showmethegin lovely clear line!

Selena33 · 07/10/2021 14:28

That’s great news @Oti21 that the spotting stopped, apparently is very common after internals or could have been old implantation blood? It’s so early to see anything, I’m not getting my hopes up to see much on Tues other than a sac in the right place hopefully. You should be able to see much more next Friday, hope time goes by fast for you!

Oti21 · 07/10/2021 14:51

I showed the Doctor today and she said she wondered if the clot was old implantation blood and wasn’t concerned by it unless I have more and it’s red. It was helpful to see it’s in the right place, hopefully Tuesday comes by fast for you too!

showmethegin · 07/10/2021 22:35

@LouLikesLollies Thank you so much for sharing your story, I'm so sorry to hear what you went through but to hear about your rainbow gives me so much hope, I'm so so happy for you ❤️

@Selena33 Thank you! Yes I had 2 weeks of strong antibiotics now I just have to see if if makes a difference! On the progesterone pessaries twice a day too, not as bad as I thought but can imagine it will get very old very quickly! Has anyone else been on those?

showmethegin · 07/10/2021 22:36

@Oti21 congratulations on your scan, such good news! X

Selena33 · 07/10/2021 22:48

@showmethegin I am taking the progesterone pessaries too. The side effects have not been pleasant let’s say (so much bloating, stomach upset, really sore boobs and wind mainly). I know those are early pregnancy symptoms too however I do think the pessaries are making them stronger! I will take anything at this point though if it may help so not complaining. Been taking them rectally from the start as I’ve read it’s less messy and doesn’t irritate the cervix that way.

That's interesting. Can I ask when your side effects started? I've just taken my third lot and haven't noticed much yet although I did snap at DP tonight over something incredibly trivial 😂 Annoyingly I only have 200mg utrogestan so have to use two tablets each time to get the full dose!

Selena33 · 08/10/2021 10:27

Oh yes I’ve been quite irritable as well! 😱 I started taking them when I got my bfp and they started pretty much straight away. But I think I read somewhere that utrogestan is better and gives less side effects? I am on cyclogest 400mg twice a day but also have 200mg pessaries… the joys!

@Oti21 good news! Hope everything is good for you next week too!

@Selena33 I've been having such an upset stomach too and finding it hard to distinguish if its the progesterone or the actual pregnancy, constantly feel like it's doing somersaults 🤢 annoyed as the doctor consultant specifically told me to take them vaginally so I'm jealous of everyone who can take them otherwise😆, they're so messy 🤦🏼‍♀️ scan on Tuesday for you? I have one Monday where I should be 8+5 so will be almost 3 weeks after my last one, the scanxiety is building 😬

GinnyBee · 08/10/2021 12:29

Hi all,

Firstly let me say I'm sorry to see you all here. Not a club any of us want to belong to, is it.

I'm a newbie here, I've had two early losses (7-9 weeks) within the year and am now pregnant or the third time. Had an early reassurance scan a week ago where we saw little foetal pole with flickering heartbeat. Not as much reassurance as some people think as we saw that with my first pregnancy too, only for the embryo to develop another week and then start bleeding out at 10 weeks.

I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow and have felt total pants for almost two weeks, until yesterday! Felt nearly normal all day, and today seems to be much of the same. I'm now getting worried something has happened and at my next scan next week we will find I've lost this one too.

Did any of you have a sudden drop in symptoms well before the 12 weeks they're supposed to ease off and everything was still ok? Would love to hear some positive stories now.

bez91 · 08/10/2021 13:08

@GinnyBee there's no hard and fast rule. I'm on my 5th pregnancy and lucky to have a little girl (my first pregnancy) I had symptoms on and off with her and thought nothing of it (I was obviously very lucky and naive to have not experienced loss at that time) my last 3 have been miscarriages at 7,11 and 5 weeks.

The MC at 11 weeks was an MMC and yes my symptoms stopped which is what made me uneasy and got checked out. This time round I'm having symptoms on and off again, you do over analyse everything but having symptoms on and off is also completely normal. We're all in the same boat so there's plenty of support 💐

Loulou237 · 09/10/2021 10:16

Hi everyone, I’m only 4+1 today and have had symptoms on and off, mainly exhaustion and moodiness! Just wondering if people had symptoms this early as I’m getting worried I’m not feeling much. My last pregnancy was a partial molar so I had such high levels of hcg I felt terrible. I guess it’s more normal to just have slight symptoms at this point but just looking for some reassurance to stop the anxiety a bit! I’m sure everyone is feeling the same though 😬

Selena33 · 09/10/2021 11:09

@bez91 I’m sure the scan on Monday will be fine! :) Let’s us know

Hi @GinnyBee how are you today? I’m sorry I do not have experience as my previous 2 pregnancies ended in mc :( First one I got to 11+5 and during that time symptoms were on and off, and I think it’s quite normal but I understand your concern. I would give it a couple of days and see, otherwise may it help to book another scan? Or ring the mw for some reassurance.

Hi @Loulou237 congratulations! Most symptoms don’t start until 6 weeks or so but I’m 5+3 and today and I’ve been getting some cramps, sore boobs and moodiness. And yes very tired! Nothing major and no nausea yet. We just need to trust and I wish you the best in this pregnancy 💐🌈

Loulou237 · 09/10/2021 11:45

Hi @Selena33 thank you for your reply! Congratulations to you too. That puts my mind to rest a bit thank you, I have small symptoms that come and go but have to remember it’s such early days! You’re exactly right, I keep telling myself there’s not much I can do so just need to keep positive and trust all is ok.

Oh wow @bez91 I must have missed that you have a scan on Monday! Good luck with everything and let us know how it goes xxx

Rachae · 09/10/2021 11:58

Hey everyone,

Mind if I join? I'm 5 weeks today.

I've had 3 natural mcs and just been through a year of IVF (3 rounds)... Actually found out I was pregnant this cycle naturally, so ivf was a bit of a waste of time!

I went to St Mary's in January and had an operation and they found/removed a uterine septum and found my blood to clot a certain way. So I'm now on progestrone pessaries, Clexane injections and baby aspirin.

I've never made it past 6.3 weeks.. So it's super worrying now and I symptom spot. Never really had any and don't really have any now.

Hope everyone is doing ok? It's so nice to be in a similar position to others (though awful at the same time and I'm sorry for your losses) xxx

Loulou237 · 09/10/2021 12:10

Hi @Rachae, congratulations! I hope the operation and the meds you’re on now mean a healthy happy pregnancy for you. Some people are lucky enough not to have any symptoms so try not to worry. Also I know what you mean, it’s nice not to feel alone in it isn’t it xxx

Rachae · 09/10/2021 12:18

Hey @Loulou237 thanks 😊 Congratulations to you too! Yea I've always found these forums really helpful as my family/friends never really understand. It's nice too to have people at a similar stage in the journey! Xxx

Selena33 · 09/10/2021 12:21

Congrats @Rachae!! Sorry you had to go through that, I’m 5+3 today so very similar. I hope this is our rainbow baby! ❤️

OP posts:
Rachae · 09/10/2021 12:31

Thanks @Selena33 😊 Absolutely and fingers crossed! To stay positive, I've decided this cycle to only use digital 'pregnant or not pregnant', so I can't obsess over the line! Plus not going to get an early scan.

What's everyone else doing to keep happy? Xxx
