Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

@Hopingforarainbow27 That's awful that you can't have anyone with you. At my hospital we are allowed one person, it's so unfair that it varies. Really hoping you do get good news this time.

OnceUponAThread · 21/01/2022 18:30

@Hopingforarainbow27

My scan is on Wednesday and no one is allowed in with me, so anxious! I've never had good news and to do it alone is heartbreaking
Oh no. That's awful. We're allowed one person at ours. Is it EPU or general maternity? Can you let them know how anxious you are and see if they will budge.

For my EPAGU one - DH had to sit in a different waiting room, but was allowed in for the scan itself.

For the Mat ward ones he could wait with me and was also allowed in.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 21/01/2022 18:39

That's at the EPU. I'm not sure they would let anyone in even if you explained to them ☹️

Worth asking, the worst that can happen is they say no!
itssquidstella · 21/01/2022 19:08

@Hopingforarainbow27 I thought the NHS guidelines on maternity care had changed and that legally you are entitled to have someone with you (even if they have to wait outside until right before the scan begins)? I would check and be prepared to insist if they try to refuse.

chasingtherainbow1 · 21/01/2022 19:15

The guidelines had changed but when I went to the EPU the other day there was signs everywhere saying patients only on the ward. I asked the midwife and she said I had to be on my own. Tbh I think I'm used to it now as my 2 miscarriages last year I had to go alone and one was a D&C. It's so awful but I guess it's the rules not the staff 🙄

Yes this was my experience. DH was put in a separate waiting room, but called in for the actual scan.

I'd look up the specific guidelines and ring them up.

Also make sure someone is at the hospital with you even if they can't come into the room.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 21/01/2022 20:09

They sai

Hopingforarainbow27 · 21/01/2022 20:11

They said someone could sit in the waiting room but not in the scan. Doesn't make sense to me. I'm hoping by 12 weeks someone can come with me. I might have to go private to be able to do that

OnceUponAThread · 21/01/2022 21:04

Yes you can definitely take someone for a private scan. Worth considering.

(As we know I am quite scan-happy, but I find it immensely reassuring)

chasingtherainbow1 · 22/01/2022 10:47

Question for you all, has anyone has period like cramping between weeks 4 and 5? I had this with my 2 miscarriages and then it stopped after 5 weeks. It's been the same now and I'm 5w 2d. Just worrying it means everything has stopped progressing again

Loulou237 · 22/01/2022 11:06

Hi @chasingtherainbow1 I think the cramping is normal for pregnancy in the first and second trimester even though it’s worrying you do get more used to it. Good luck with the first trimester worrying, I hope the time goes quick for you! Xx

chasingtherainbow1 · 22/01/2022 11:11

@Loulou237 thanks, I find the cramps reassuring, I think the fact they have stopped is what's worrying me. I guess every pregnancy is different. Just powering on through until the scan next week!

Hopingforarainbow27 · 22/01/2022 11:19

@chasingtherainbow1 I've had full aches but they come and go. I don't have them every day

Hopingforarainbow27 · 22/01/2022 11:20

Dull

Loulou237 · 22/01/2022 11:22

Ah @chasingtherainbow1 I’m sorry, I do think after a loss we will worry at everything. It’s very very normal for it to come and go, I know it doesn’t reassure you but do try not to worry. With my daughters pregnancy I had the pain for the whole first trimester, with my miscarriage I had no pain really and then with this pregnancy I had nothing til week 12! So confusing. It’s very normal to have pain with the implantation around week 4 and then nothing more xx

chasingtherainbow1 · 22/01/2022 12:22

@Hopingforarainbow27 @Loulou237 thanks for the reassurance guys. I think I'll feel better if I make it past 6 weeks. I know everything still isn't fine after that but I think week 5 is just an awful time for me as it's when I lost the pregnancies. 5 days to go!!

susiebluebell · 22/01/2022 14:26

Is anyone else struggling with constipation?! At the moment I'm only pooing like every other day and I'm sooo uncomfortable! 😩

Hopingforarainbow27 · 22/01/2022 15:29

@susiebluebell yes I'm only going every other day as well. I'm on progesterone so I'm putting it down to that lol

Loulou237 · 22/01/2022 16:56

@susiebluebell yes it’s the worst isn’t it! Have you heard of fibogel? You can get it on Amazon and it doesn’t taste too bad and really helps. The stuff I got prescribed when I was pregnant with my daughter tasted so foul I didn’t bother 😂

susiebluebell · 22/01/2022 18:01

@Loulou237 my partner has just been out to get me some! It tasted like orange vitamins really, bar the weird flaky bits 😁 Still no movement but the night is still young...

@Hopingforarainbow27 I'm sorry you're in the same position! 😩

Loulou237 · 22/01/2022 19:37

@susiebluebell oh brilliant it takes like 12 hours to work and isn’t a laxative so you won’t be regretting it in the morning ha! I used to have two a day. Good luck with it xx

GinnyBee · 22/01/2022 20:30

I also had awful constipation in first trimester! I blame the progesterone. I still get a bit bunged up occasionally but not half as bad. It does get better, gals!

Hopingforarainbow27 · 22/01/2022 22:30

Anyone with sore boobs, when do they ease? Or do they stay sore throughout?

Loulou237 · 23/01/2022 08:39

@Hopingforarainbow27 it’s different for every woman and every pregnancy! Xx
