Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

@bubblybrit I'm 22+5, I have days when it's very quiet then days when very active. I got a bit worried a couple of times when it's been quiet but today's she's been doing Kung Fu so clearly she's on top form! 🤸🏻🥋

Derbee · 29/11/2021 08:43

I have days of strong kicks, and then days of little flutters. My midwife said that’s completely normal, up to about 30 weeks, where movement should become more regular

Dyra · 29/11/2021 09:06

@bubblybrit Heh. Ditto on the anterior placenta with previous posterior placenta. Definitely movements are different this time around. I only get strong movements at the sides, especially in the evenings. During daylight hours I get barely anything at all. Hopefully you've had some reassurance from midwives by now.

Catconfusion · 29/11/2021 10:06

It’s so interesting how different anterior and posterior placentas are. I had anterior with my son and it varied day to day. Certainly didn’t get big movements until after 30 weeks. Only just started feeling him at 20 weeks. This baby is posterior and the movement has been near constant since 16 weeks. I had a couple of quiet weeks but it ramped up again. Now she’s constantly tumbling around. It’s disrupting my sleep. Certainly a lot more reassuring but then with my son I was a ftm so didn’t know what to expect. I went in for reduced movements near the end once but wasn’t too worried. I think if this baby slowed I’d panic. Xx

Hey ladies!

Sorry I’ve been AWOL, it’s been a manic few weeks! I had my covid booster last week and it wiped me out, maybe shouldn’t have got my flu, whooping cough and covid jab all within 2 weeks! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m 24 weeks today and officially emailed over my proposed maternity start date and MATB1 form this morning (I really have left it to the last minute, my boss was starting to get stressed with me!)

@bubblybrit I had a few episodes of reduced movements in my last pregnancy, it’s so worrying. I’d ring your midwife if you’re worried. Better to be safe. This one feels like he’s trying to get out most days so it’s been the complete opposite this time round!

Sorry to hear a few of you haven’t had straight forward scans and are awaiting further scans or tests. ❤️

Dyra · 29/11/2021 11:15

Welcome back Nats7504! I've started preparing my maternity leave request today. Feels weird knowing my finish date and when my first day back will be.

It really doesn't help though that you can only get the MatB1 form after your 20week scan, but then you have to turn it in before 25 weeks. What really, really doesn't help is that (in my trust anyway) there's no scheduled appointment in that timeframe where you can collect it! If I weren't being treated as a FTM, I wouldn't be seeing my midwife until 28 weeks! As it is, my next appointment is still too late at 25+3, so I'm going to drop in at my GP surgery on Wednesday or Thursday (when the midwives are in) and hopefully they can quickly get it sorted.

Nats7504 · 29/11/2021 12:36

@Dyra Thank you! 😘

It’s scary isn’t it. Planning to take time off when I’ve barely got my head around having a baby! I initially wanted to take the full year off but looking at the finances I’m not sure that will be feasible. OH said we’ll just be poor for a few months but you have to weigh up quality of life over a new extra weeks at home. So hard.

I was lucky and got my MATB1 form at my 20 week scan so hadn’t thought of the timescale for people that have to wait for their midwife appointment. What a faff!

bubblybrit · 29/11/2021 13:29

Thanks to all who have replied. I called maternity triage and they don’t seem to be concerned given I’m still feeling baby move.

She’s been a bit quiet today so I’ve been told to lie down after a cold drink and focus on the movements. If nothing after an hour then I’ve to call back.

Catconfusion · 29/11/2021 15:00

@bubblybrit sounds like good advice. I hope you get some strong movements and don’t need to call back. Xx

bubblybrit · 29/11/2021 15:05

Thanks @Catconfusion. Think the cold drink got her moving. Still not super strong but clear movement going on xx

Catconfusion · 29/11/2021 15:34

@bubblybrit amazing news. Hopefully she was just in a difficult position and won’t give you anymore scares. Xx

Catconfusion · 29/11/2021 15:36

I just wondered if anyone else has had a bladder infection or a suspected one. I’ve had stinging when I go to the toilet and passing less when I go. I called my GP and she’s said they send the sample to the lab and start the treatment pending the lab result. I’m presuming this will be an antibiotic. She’s said it’s safe but not too keen on taking unnecessary medication. I guess it’s best in case it is an infection. Just curious to see if anyone else had this? Xx

Nats7504 · 29/11/2021 15:45

@Catconfusion I had a urine infection around 10 weeks, was only picked up as they were checking me for dehydration due to HG. I had zero symptoms. I took a weeks worth of antibiotics and had to hand in another sample to make sure it had cleared up. How long do the results take to come back? You could always collect them and if it gets worse or confirmed you can start taking them? X

charley39 · 29/11/2021 16:52

@Catconfusion I’m currently on antibiotics for a UTI I had no symptoms for, was picked up unexpectedly when I was poorly last week. The GP would give you antibiotics that were safe to take etc.

I’m having monthly urine samples sent to the lab aside from this as I had recurrent UTI’s in my first pregnancy and had a couple of rounds of antibiotics.

MiracleBaby2022 · 29/11/2021 18:19

@Catconfusion I had Group B Streptococcus urine infection so had no choice but to take the antibiotics. Will have to be on antibiotic drip during labour too.

Caass45 · 29/11/2021 18:25

@bubblybrit how did you get on? We had the midwife today she said I should keep an eye on movements from week 24-28 where they should settle into a routine.

We also had our second anomaly scan and this time baby was opposite to last and wouldn't sit still 🤣 but she got all the checks done and she was confident all was fine :)

Derbee · 29/11/2021 18:43

@Caass45 such sweet little nose and lips! Love all these scan pictures.

We’re booking a private scan, and I think we’ll have to do it slightly earlier than is ideal, but don’t want covid restrictions to change, and stop us taking our family in.

Catconfusion · 29/11/2021 20:39

@Nats7504 thanks for replying. She said to call on a Thursday. I only started getting symptoms yesterday so not long to wait really. It’s a good idea to see how I am and take if it gets worse I think. Xx

Catconfusion · 29/11/2021 20:42

@charley39 thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear you’ve got it too. I’m not so much worried about safety just know how lousy I feel on antibiotics. I’ve got my whooping cough vaccine and Covid booster coming up too. I felt horrendous after my flu jab a couple of weeks ago so wondering how they might affect me. It just feels never ending. Just cautious about anything that will affect how I’m feeling. After 4 months of hyperemesis I just want to feel well. Xx

Catconfusion · 29/11/2021 20:43

@MiracleBaby2022 I’m sorry to hear you have strep b. I’m pretty sure this is a standard UTI if indeed I have one. I remember in my last pregnancy I felt like this and the lab results were negative so I’m dubious until it’s actually confirmed. Xx

Catconfusion · 29/11/2021 20:44

@Caass45 aww what a beautiful picture. It’s such a relief, isn’t it when they behave at scans and you get signed off. Xx

Catconfusion · 29/11/2021 20:47

Another problem I have is that I’m taking part in the Pearl trial. Not sure if anyone has heard of it but it’s a research study into the mother and baby microbiome. I have to take samples at 23 weeks, 30 weeks and after the birth. They delivered a freezer for me to keep the samples. If I take the antibiotics I can’t take part in the study which I feel awful about. Xx

bubblybrit · 29/11/2021 21:28

Thank you @Catconfusion. It’s amazing how much they worry you and they aren’t even born yet. I hope you start to feel better soon x

@Caass45. Tirade weren’t concerned as I had been feeling movement albeit not as strong. They said that as long as I felt baby each day then that was the main thing. She was a little quiet this afternoon so I had to lie down after a cold drink and focus on movements. Little miss was definitely moving around so I’m more at ease now. Ah your scan pic is beautiful. So pleased that your scan went well x

Caass45 · 29/11/2021 21:34

@bubblybrit glad she started wiggling round more and put your mind at ease. They are a worry aren't they!

@Catconfusion thank you it really is. I had a dream this morning things didn't go well so that put me on edge. Finally got to hear her little heartbeat too for the first time.

@Derbee thanks her wee button nose is kinda cute 😍 I hope you get your private scan with no changes to restrictions

Dyra · 29/11/2021 23:04

Awwww. What a sweet scan photo @Caass45. I wouldn't be able to resist booping that wee nose when she's on the outside. ☺️

I wouldn't worry about the trial @Catconfusion. If you need the antibiotics, you need them. They'll have designed the trial knowing that a percentage of participants would have to drop out. They'll be recruiting more people than they need to account for it. Perhaps as Nats says, pick up the antibiotics, but only take them if you feel worse or your results come back positive.

@bubblybrit These naughty babies do know how to worry us! Glad she started wriggling when you needed her to.
