Hi everyone made a new thread for all the ladies due end of March beginning of April 2022. We are coming to the end of the first trimester, some of you have already crossed that important milestone! Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

I’m sorry to hear that you are stuck in limbo until your next appointment @Countingchicks. I hope that you get some answers soon and are as ok as you can be xx

charley39 · 25/11/2021 17:35

@Countingchicks thinking of you xx

Countingchicks · 25/11/2021 17:49

Hubby and I going to have a much better weekend than we did last weekend that's for sure! Gone from last Thursday being given the impression there's a serious heart problem likely fatal to today's issues is much more tolerable. We're just going to take each day as it comes

Caass45 · 25/11/2021 22:12

@Countingchicks sorry to hear everything didn't go to plan at the scan but glad things are looking more positive than first thought.

Anyone else feeling easily fatigued recently ? I know tiredness is meant to return in 3rd trimester but I feel exhausted after work this week. Also had the odd nausea and dizziness from time to time. Baby Is wiggling away. Pretty sure she even had hiccups earlier ☺ got our second 20 week scan on Monday 9.30am for missing checks then midwife at 11.30 so will probabaly mention it then see what they say

MiracleBaby2022 · 25/11/2021 22:56

@Countingchicks sorry to hear about your scan. I can't imagine what a 4 week wait is going to be like... Thinking of you! X

bubblybrit · 26/11/2021 07:59

@Caass45. Yes to the exhaustion. I could cry trying to work full time as well as having a toddler. Doesn’t leave a lot of room for sleeping/trying to relax! I’ve got a long weekend coming up and I’m thinking about leaving my daughter in nursery just so I can try and catch up on some sleep. Feel guilty for thinking that way though!

Leen437 · 26/11/2021 08:12

@Countingchicks so sorry to hear you didnt have a good 20 week scan but glad to hear not as bad as they said. Im in the same boat but different his vents in the head are measuring large, we did decide on the amniocentesis Test just waiting on results, we have a mri necxt week to see whats happening and all results on the 8th. Just so scary but we will get through it for out babies

Countingchicks · 26/11/2021 09:31

@Leen437 sorry to hear you're going through the mill on this too. I just can't relax or bring myself to buy things. We've decided to wait until after the scan on 23 December before deciding what to do next.

Dyra · 26/11/2021 11:33

@bubblybrit Don't! I never have any guilt when I have a day off and send DD to nursery. The social aspect and early learning benefits she gets from it are invaluable. Plus I would still have to pay for the session whether I sent her or not. Then there's the positive of having a well rested, relaxed mummy.

Countingchicks and Leen437. Hoping the results will be good ones for you both.

Sorry, been away for a while we have been ill. @Derbee due 26 March 💛 first baby

Leen437 · 26/11/2021 13:33

@Countingchicks we are the same not bought anything yet, not sure whats going to happen. Just hard to be excited. I just hard when the doctors are so negative and i get thats what they have to do but just so hard

Dyra · 26/11/2021 17:41

Repeat scan went exactly the same as the first one, except baby was transverse instead of oblique, but still facing down and in. Growing well at least. Barring anything being picked up at 36 weeks, just means baby gets a few more observations done before we're discharged.

Catconfusion · 27/11/2021 16:36

Oh no @dyra how frustrating.

I had my repeat scan yesterday and had it confirmed baby’s spine and heart are normal and healthy. We’re so relieved!

Not sure how I posted the picture twice 😂

Dyra · 27/11/2021 23:54

@Catconfusion The first picture has your details on it btw. The second has them cropped out. Glad your scan went well and you got lovely pictures of baby. I forgot to show mine. Loved showing off their spine. But face, heart, and cord insertion just weren't happening.

@Derbee Awww. Hope you're feeling better now.

Catconfusion · 28/11/2021 00:21

@dyra not sure how I managed it. Oh well, it’s not very clear. Thank you, I’m so relieved.

Sorry your baby wasn’t in a good position. Mine has been naughty at every scan apart from the last one. It’s so annoying when you just want to get signed off. Would they not offer you one last scan? I’m not sure I could wait until later on, especially with the heart. I am however quite anxious as I’m an older mum and had quite a few losses. Xx

Dyra · 28/11/2021 10:00

TBF I should say that it's not that the face, heart, and insertion weren't checked. It's more that due to position (and undoubtedly my BMI) they couldn't be checked to the level of fine detail needed to be signed off on.

I did ask if there was the potential of a third scan, and the answer was a flat no. Seems one repeat is all you get. I think with DD (where I did get a third) was due to the sonographer doing me a favour and performing the scan out of hours because I'm staff.

There are options to consider if my worries (I'd be lying if I said I didn't have any) turn into anxiety. There's the primary option of paying for a private scan. But with the caveat that it's with a fully trained sonographer who could perform the cardiac checks. The (naughty) secondary option is asking one of the foetal medicine consultants at work to scan me. The (very naughty) third option will be to plot getting a growth scan requested by my midwife.

Nevertheless, I plan on talking to an obstetrician anyway for extra reassurance. I don't expect another scan (other than the 36 one), but talking it out will still be good.

Catconfusion · 28/11/2021 12:24

@dyra I hope you can get something sorted. I personally just couldn’t rest until I knew everything was as thoroughly checked as possible. It’s good you have a plan though. Xx

Countingchicks · 28/11/2021 17:57

I've decided to book a private scan on 9th December so it's right between the two NHS ones of last Thursday and 23rd December to check the measurements. I'm hoping the short femur is rather longer if she moves into another position as scan last Thursday that picked it up she was breach but all scans before she was head down.

bubblybrit · 28/11/2021 19:41

@Dyra. Thank you. My DD loves nursery and I think some me time will do me the world of good. I just feel bad as usually if I have a few days off then I organise a nice little day trip for us both. I just don’t have the energy to do it this now and think she’ll likely prefer playing at nursery to sitting in the house with mummy most of the day.

I’m sorry that your baby was still in an awkward position at your repeat scan. My baby has misbehaved from the beginning. We were lucky to get measurements but it was no easy task!

Just wondering if you ladies think that this is normal or something to worry about? I’m 22+4 and have been noticing relatively strong kicks for the last few weeks. However, the last few days it’s been more like flutters. I know movements can be inconsistent at this stage but wasn’t sure if I should be concerned that they appear to be milder? I’ve got an anterior placenta so don’t know if that makes a difference (I had posterior placenta with my DD)? I’ve had my 20 weeks scan and subsequent midwife appointment where no issues came up and heartbeat was nice and strong?

Cxjai792 · 28/11/2021 20:41

@bubblybrit
I think babies movements can still be quite sporadic at this point, I’m a couple of days behind you and little lady has days where she’s very active then not so much. Have something to eat, a cold drink, lay down and you’ll notice baby moving you may just have been a bit busy the last few days. You can always get monitored or speak to a midwife to put your mind more at rest. I’m sure everything is absolutely fine☺️

charley39 · 28/11/2021 20:42

@bubblybrit I would say if you have any worries about movements call your MAU. Are you still feeling the same amount of movements just different strength?
I ended up going up to MAU on Tuesday as one of my things was my movements had decreased. The midwifes weren’t overly fussed when I said I was 22+5 but I knew that I had been feeling a lot of movements and it had changed. Luckily all was well but it helped put my mind to rest.

It could be that your placenta is affecting movements if the baby has moved up? I’m not entirely sure but might be worth giving the midwife a call?

Caass45 · 28/11/2021 20:52

@bubblybrit don't feel guilty about leaving her in nursery especially if she enjoys it it'll be good for her to keep her routine too.

I'd say the same as others its not much of a worry yet sometimes my wee one seems to be trying to beat me up from the inside other days I hardly feel her. I also have an anterior placenta and also read it depends on what way baby is facing. If your worried though totally just give midwives a call they won't mind

bubblybrit · 28/11/2021 21:09

@Cxjai792. That’s the way I feel at the moment. She seemed to be crazy active but has calmed down a bit.

@charley39. Yes I’m still feeling movement. It’s just not as strong as what it had been. Glad everything was fine for you. I hate the worry of pregnancy!

@Caass45. Thank you. Feeling a bit better about my decision now! Yes I was feeling quite strong kicks and now it’s more like the popcorn feeling that midwives tell you about.

You are all right. I should probably call my midwife just to be sure. Would you call the number I have for the midwife team assigned to be or is it better to call maternity triage? I know the latter is for emergencies but sometimes the midwife team take 24/48 hours to respond?

charley39 · 28/11/2021 21:28

@bubblybrit I would call the triage number.
