Hi everyone made a new thread for all the ladies due end of March beginning of April 2022. We are coming to the end of the first trimester, some of you have already crossed that important milestone! Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

Awww what lovely pictures @Caass45 and @Pac35.

I got a picture of tiny feeties.

Caass45 · 15/11/2021 20:02

@Dyra look at those cute little feet! That was a picture from our gender scan Thursday where she behaved very well. This is all we got today 🤦‍♀️

Lovely to see everyone’s scan photos. These little babies have no idea of the chaos they cause out here, by swanning around in random positions! Bless them.

Dyra · 16/11/2021 09:01

@Caass45 Still cute! Grin

Started feeling hiccuping last night. :3 Forgot how entertaining it is feeling the jerks and then annoyed baby wriggling.

Catconfusion · 16/11/2021 14:21

Just a happy update from me. Baby girl is doing very well. She was an awkward monkey though and need to go back to double check the heart. The sonographer wasn’t worried though. I’m just so relieved the 20 week scan is done. It’s quite nice we get an extra scan in a few weeks as I won’t see my midwife until 28 weeks. Xx

These babies really are naughty monkeys! Shock Delighted your scan otherwise went well. Your little girl looks very comfy and so very cute!

bubblybrit · 17/11/2021 07:54

Lovely scan photo @Catconfusion. So pleased that everything went well. I have my scan this afternoon and can feel the nerves kicking in already!

68degreesnorth · 17/11/2021 08:05

@Catconfusion lovely scan picture 🤎

Caass45 · 17/11/2021 11:30

@bubblybrit good luck today !

Dyra · 17/11/2021 12:15

Best of luck for later @bubblybrit! FX for a co-operative baby!

Bluebell88 · 17/11/2021 12:32

Had our 20 week scan today (we’re 21+1), baby cooperated much better than at the 12 week scan and everything looks good - so reassuring to see/hear!

Another baby girl 💖

Hope everything goes well for everyone having scans today or due scans soon!

bubblybrit · 17/11/2021 17:09

Thank you @Dyra @Caass45. My scan went really well although little miss wasn’t the most cooperative so the scan pics are rubbish. Main thing is that she is thriving and all measurements etc are spot on though! X

Catconfusion · 17/11/2021 17:20

@Bluebell88 and @bubblybrit congratulations on your beautiful baby girls.

Has any one else been told their baby had long femurs? My son was a big baby at 9lbs 5 but born at 39 weeks. He’s quite tall for his age. I don’t have his 20 week scan notes so can’t compare. Just wondering if baby girl will also be quite big and tall. The femurs are 99th centile. Her tummy is 75th which I’ve heard is potentially a sign she’s big. Her head is thankfully looking bang on average. My son had a 40cm head at birth so I was glad for the elective we’d planned 😂 xx

Caass45 · 17/11/2021 17:34

@bubblybrit glad it went well!

@Catconfusion we got told our baby girl has long legs at our 20 week scan but that's all she said just that her legs were long 😂

Catconfusion · 17/11/2021 19:39

@Caass45 I wonder if it means they’ll be big. Guess it’s difficult to tell at this stage. Xx

Dyra · 17/11/2021 20:27

Congratulations on your baby girls @bubblybrit and @Bluebell88!

I'm taking the 20 week scan measurements with a hefty pinch of salt. DD didn't measure below the 75th centile for any measurement at any of her scans. Admittedly was born large on the 90th centile for weight. Though since then, she's dropped to somewhere between the 9th and 25th centile for height and weight and is very much sticking there.

This one is measuring on the smaller side (measurements they did get are between 18th and 50th), so no doubt will be taller than me before their teens.

68degreesnorth · 18/11/2021 20:58

Do we get any further ultrasound scans on the NHS? As far as I understand it we only get these two, but surely there must be more?

bubblybrit · 18/11/2021 22:56

It is only your 12 and 20 week scan that you get as standard on the nhs @68degreesnorth. It is completely rubbish and hence why I’ve already had a number of private scans (plus I’m a natural worrier which doesn’t help). I’ll likely get another private scan around 30 weeks or so just for peace of mind.

Dyra · 18/11/2021 23:19

Most trusts only do the two unfortunately @68degreesnorth. I'm very fortunate that my trust offers a third at 36 weeks as a presentation scan. Hopefully one day it'll be rolled out to all trusts.

Catconfusion · 19/11/2021 05:00

I’m quite lucky to be having growth scans every four weeks from 28 weeks as I’m 42. I say lucky, obviously it’s a high risk pregnancy due to my age so extra checks are done on the baby. I think as well if your bump is looking small or large you might get sent for a growth scan just to check baby’s size. If I was younger and not having the growth scans I think I’d definitely pay for some private ones. It’s madness the last scan is at the halfway point unless any issues come up. Xx

68degreesnorth · 19/11/2021 06:25

@Dyra @bubblybrit thank you, that's rubbish isn't it, I'll definitely go private if I don't get any more on the NHS. I'm 44 and as it's a risky pregnancy perhaps they'll offer me more 🤞🏼

68degreesnorth · 19/11/2021 06:27

@Catconfusion that's interesting- I've not heard any mention of further scans but I'm hoping that'll be the same with me then, since I'm 44 and have underlying health conditions too🤞🏼

Catconfusion · 19/11/2021 07:30

@68degreesnorth your midwife should have referred you for consultant led care. How many weeks are you now? Anyone over 40 should be offered consultant appointments and growth scans from 28 weeks. We met our consultant after our 12 week scan. I would call your midwife if this referral hasn’t happened, unless you’re early on.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. It’s amazing having babies later in life but definitely comes with its own set of worries. Xx

68degreesnorth · 19/11/2021 10:24

@Catconfusion I've been referred to an obstetrician, not because of my age but because I have M.E and apparently it's to do with exercise management.

I could never get pregnant before, and this is a (very big) surprise pregnancy, so it's absolutely amazing. Enjoying every moment of the growing bump 💕
