Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

Good luck to everyone having gender scans this week. Mine is next Tuesday and I’m already having nightmares. Can’t wait to get mine done.

Welcome @chelev9 we had a private gender scan at 17 weeks. It was clearly a girl and we were impressed with how thorough they were so felt really reassured about the health of the baby too. Xx

Thank you! Are you glad you found out? This is my last baby I'm sorta wondering if i should have kept it a surprise! But I am too nosey 🤣 x
Catconfusion · 09/11/2021 13:28

@chelev9 I’m so glad I found out. We have an 19 month old little boy so it was lovely to find out I will have a girl as it’s my last baby. It’s nice to have a good sort out old clothes and sell some stuff I won’t need. How old are your other children? Xx

Dyra · 09/11/2021 13:54

@charley39 Congrats on your scan. And a very wriggly baby! Could you feel the wriggles during your scan?

Good luck for Wednesday @Scoaf! And for next Monday @Catconfusion! Hopefully you're doing better after your jab now as well. My scan is on Friday. So excited!

Welcome @chelev9! What did your scan reveal you're having, and what do you already have?

charley39 · 09/11/2021 14:00

@Dyra yes could feel them during the scan but the past week or so it’s really increased with how many I’m feeling. Last night I think they were having a party in there! Baby was head down during the scan so I’ve now worked out it’s hands hitting me down low and then feet up higher but honestly don’t remember this many movements so early on before x

Caass45 · 09/11/2021 15:25

We were a bit gutted to find out our hospital is one of 4 in the country that refuse to tell you baby's gender so we've had to book in privately but atleast this way we will know on Thursday rather than waiting until Monday to be disappointed.

Thank you!
My scan revealed a boy! 💙 I have a son who is 8. He is pretty happy we are having a boy 🤣 x

Dyra · 10/11/2021 10:32

@Caass45 I knew there are hospitals out there that won't reveal the sex, but there's only 4 in the whole country?! Wow.... I thought it was a but higher. Little bit curious as to which 4 they are now. Sorry you have to pay to find out now. Hope you're not disappointed tomorrow and you have an excellent scan on Monday as well.

Awww that's sweet of your little boy @Chelev9.

Good luck for today @Scoaf!

Caass45 · 10/11/2021 10:36

@Dyra well 4 in Scotland who have it as a definite policy. Apparently they are grampian, forth valley, Orkney and Shetland that I've read so far. I'm happy either way whatever we have just excited to know 😊 I do find it difficult when we tell people we are going to find out and they tell us not too and to leave it as a surprise. Almost feel like I'm doing the wrong thing. 😕

68degreesnorth · 10/11/2021 12:18

@Caass45 before I got pregnant I thought I'd want to leave it as a surprise too - but once I was pregnant there was just no way. I'm too impatient and totally over excited! We live in the modern world where we're lucky enough to find out if we do wish - so why not.

Dyra · 10/11/2021 12:29

@Caass45 You do what's right for you. If you want to find out, you find out! I have the opposite issue. People think I'm insane for not wanting to find out. Maybe it's to do with the areas we live in. Or pregnant women's choices are always wrong to someone.

Scoaf · 10/11/2021 17:42

Thanks for the well wishes.
Scan went well, although baby was a bit awkward and wouldnt keep still and was in an awkward position. Defo my child 🤣 They said everything looks fine... 🥰 good luck to everyone having scans this week. X

Hayesdays · 10/11/2021 21:43

Evening all! Just wondered if anyone has ever looked for a job whilst preggo before?

Unfortunately I’ve been made redundant…haven’t been paid fully for last months work either and not holding much hope to get paid on time for November either. So frantically trying to find something either permanent or contract to tide me over.

If I get offered an interview for a permanent job should I tell them? I know I’m not legally required too but I think it’ll be a bit obvious…not sure a floaty dress will hide the bump any more! Am I unrealistic thinking my skills will shine past the bump and they will want to hire me any way?

Dyra · 10/11/2021 21:56

@Scoaf Glad the scan went well. Did they get all the measurements they needed to despite baby being awkward? (Nothing changes when they're on the outside either!)

@Hayesdays Really sorry to hear you've been made redundant. No experience, but I've heard good things about Pregnant then Screwed. Hopefully, they'll be able to give you specific advice related to looking for jobs while pregnant. They might also have advice on if your being made redundant was all above board. Make sure you apply for maternity allowance ASAP as well. Such a cruel thing to happen, and I hope you'll be ok.

Scoaf · 11/11/2021 06:42

@Dyra
Yes she managed to get all the measurements. It does say on my notes, difficuot scan due to fetal Lie... 🤷‍♀️ anyone else had that?
I do have a slight niggle though... now tell me if im just being ridiculous. The sonographer was very quiet and when i nipped the loo half way through as my bladder was fit to burst 🤣 she mentioned to my husband that she wasnt feeling well as she had bad back pain and her pain killers weren't agreeing with her, so much so that as we were leaving she was sick. She called us back in afterwards and apologised profusely and i felt very sorry for her. But now i just have this little worry, did she miss something as she wasn't feeling well? Am i just being neurotic? 🤦‍♀️

Scoaf · 11/11/2021 08:34

Sorry i missed the main bit out of tha when i read it back... 🤦‍♀️ is baby brain a thing at 20weeks?
She also asked us of we remem her looking at the babies heart as she has done things a different order to usual. Which we did as she talked us through that bit.
The more i think about the whole thibg the more i worry. Should i speak to my midwife?

Caass45 · 11/11/2021 08:54

@68degreesnorth @Dyra thanks I know I need to just keep reminding myself I have to do what we choose not what others suggest

@Scoaf you do sound very concerned I would definitely speak to your midwife about your concerns. The sonographer doesn't sound like she was on form. I'm sure she checked everything properly but I'd speak to my midwife just for peace of mind. She might even get you back in for another scan just to be sure

Nats7504 · 11/11/2021 08:56

@Scoaf Our 20 week scan was a nightmare as baby was too active and in an awkward position. We were there for an hour and a half with a break in the middle for me to walk around and encourage him to move. (He didn’t!) she couldn’t do the checks properly on his heart, brain or my placenta. When we went back after our walk she managed to complete the brain and placenta but not his heart so we are going back next week to finish the checks! X

Scoaf · 11/11/2021 09:00

@caass45
Thankyou. I want to speak to someone but dont want the get anybody into trouble... 🤦‍♀️

Scoaf · 11/11/2021 09:05

@Nats7504
Ah im sorry you had a nightmare. Thats good that you are going back next week.
She said she got all the measurements but i just ahce this slight worry incase she missed soemthing with not feeling herself.

Catconfusion · 11/11/2021 09:09

@chelev9 I’m over the moon it’s a girl. A boy would have been lovely but it’s so nice to have one of each. Definitely a preference on my part. My DH wasn’t too bothered either way though. Xx

Catconfusion · 11/11/2021 09:14

Might add as well @chelev9 I’m 42 and will be nearly 43 when baby comes so this is my last pregnancy. Whichever sex would have completed our family so I’d have been very happy either way. Congratulations on your little boy. I think two brother playing together is the most adorable thing. Xx

Dyra · 11/11/2021 09:27

@Scoaf Baby brain has been a thing for me since conception! I'd flag up that your sonographer was feeling unwell and you're worried your scan might not be complete to your midwife. She can check over your scan results to make sure nothing had been accidentally left out. I honestly doubt anything was missed, but if it will help you with peace of mind, then it'll be worth it. Nobody will get into trouble.

@Nats7504 Sounds exactly like my 20 week scan with DD! 😂 I had to come back an hour later on the second scan to get her to move as the little minx wasn't co-operating again...

Nats7504 · 11/11/2021 10:02

@Scoaf It was worrying as she was silent during it too. My previous scans have been over within about 10 minutes!

I doubt she would’ve missed anything, they can’t afford to do that with the scan being so important. If she felt she wasn’t doing her best she would’ve got one of her colleagues in or asked you to come back surely? If you’re worried I’d speak to your midwife lovely, they will put your mind at rest or call the hospital for you to double check x
