Hi everyone made a new thread for all the ladies due end of March beginning of April 2022. We are coming to the end of the first trimester, some of you have already crossed that important milestone! Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

@theconfused I was going to share a link to the HG support thread, as it’s got me through my pregnancy. But I see you’re on it already. Smile

I was tempted to wait for Black Friday deals for prams, but then I fell in love with a limited edition Bugaboo that was heavily discounted as the new model came out this month. So thought I’d better order it before they sell out of older stock!

bubblybrit · 28/10/2021 08:47

We are due date buddies @Cheekymonkey3112. I’m also having a little girl. Congrats to you...it’s very exciting 💗 x

els96 · 28/10/2021 16:44

Hi all! Hope everyone is well 🥰 found out I'm having a little boy! So shocked but excited. Due 31st March. Does anyone else work within healthcare/NHS? I'm a nurse and lots of talk of when mat leave starts, some have gone off at 28 weeks, others 34? X

Derbee · 28/10/2021 16:47

Congratulations to everyone who has found out what they’re having! Is anyone leaving it as a surprise after the birth?

charley39 · 28/10/2021 17:51

@els96 congratulations on finding out it’s a boy!
I’m also a nurse in the nhs. Our trust had the policy of you had to go off at 28 weeks regardless due to Covid however it’s now changed to if your double jabbed you can continue working. I do wonder with the increasing numbers whether they may revert back to 28 weeks?
I managed to last until 32 with my 1st pregnancy. Hoping to push till 34 weeks this time around but I’m not feeling too hopeful! Simply can’t afford to take as much mat leave this time around so need to try and keep working as long as I can!

@Derbee we aren’t planning on finding out what we’re having. We loved the surprise first time around but it does feel harder this time around not knowing!

Derbee · 28/10/2021 18:10

@charley39 glad you’re having a surprise too. Everyone we’ve told seems horrified that we’re not finding out, and I was starting to wonder if we’re peculiar! I guess I just need to warn the sonographer when we go for our scan, but apart from that, hoping it’ll be relatively easy to keep as a surprise.

charley39 · 28/10/2021 18:44

@Derbee yes definitely in the minority for not finding out! First question everyone seems to ask aswell!
Yes we said straight away to the sonographer and they were really good, hope we have the same experience this time around.

bubblepond · 28/10/2021 19:24

@charley39 @Derbee we're not finding out either :)

bubblepond · 28/10/2021 19:26

I work in paeds A&E (GP trainee). I have to go off at 28 weeks and in my trust pregnant HCWs aren't allowed to see respiratory patients until they've had a negative covid test. It seems to be very variable!
bubblepond · 28/10/2021 19:27

Also congratulations on your boy @els96 !

Scoaf · 28/10/2021 19:36

Congratulations on everyone finding out.
We're also having a surprise, people cant believe that were dont want to know, its like weve committed a crime 🤣
I read somewhere that it helps you push harder... not sure if thats true but every little helps hey 🤷‍♀️

charley39 · 28/10/2021 19:56

@Scoaf @bubblepond yay for the surprises too!

Cheekymonkey3112 · 28/10/2021 20:15

@els96 I'm due the 31st of March too 🥰

Cheekymonkey3112 · 28/10/2021 20:16

@bubblybrit oh thats exciting!! I can't wait but not totally convinced it's a girl yet, I've already got a wee boy. Is this your first? Xx

bubblybrit · 28/10/2021 21:53

Congratulations on your little boy @els96. I’m due 31st March also 😀

bubblybrit · 28/10/2021 21:57

@Cheekymonkey3112. This is my second. Have a DD who will be 3 by the time this little one comes along. Have you told your wee boy that he will be a big brother? My DD is currently none the wiser as she’ll literally ask me every day when the baby is coming 😂 xx

Catconfusion · 28/10/2021 23:04

Ah I’m due 31st March. Sounds like there’s a few of us 🙂 xx

Dyra · 28/10/2021 23:43

Congrats on your boy @els96! I'm in obstetric theatres. It's still my trust's policy to go at 28 weeks. So from 3rd January for me. I'm ok to work with patients of 'unknown' Covid status. They usually have a negative LFT at the very least, just awaiting PCR result. But if they go to GA, if it is possible, I should leave. I have to avoid Covid positive cases where possible.

@Scoaf @charley39 @bubblepond @Derbee Another one here for team yellow!

@bubblybrit I've told DD she's going to be a big sister, but I can tell it hasn't registered yet. She's only recently turned two though. We'll see. Hoping she'll clock on at some point. Shortly after baby comes home probably.

68degreesnorth · 28/10/2021 23:56

I was just told I'm Group B Strep positive today, I know it's not usually anything to worry about, but it's yet another course of antibiotics to take... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cheekymonkey3112 · 29/10/2021 07:39

@bubblybrit yeah he knows and is so excited!! He is 4 in Dec so there will be 4y3m between them. He asks often when it is coming but I've said after Christmas/it needs to keep growing because it can't come out just now or it will be unwell. He kind of gets that. I don't have much of a bump either and he's seen heavily pregnant people so I think he thinks ah when mummy gets a big tummy it'll be time then 🤣 sometimes if it's not mentioned he won't mention it because uts out of sight out of mind lol!! Although I would say his behaviour has been a bit up and down since he's found out, not sure whether it's related but thinking it could be a bit of "ahhh I don't really understand what's going to happen to me when this baby comes" so I don't mention it too much xxx

Cheekymonkey3112 · 29/10/2021 07:40

@catconfusion ahhh!! So exciting! X

Cheekymonkey3112 · 29/10/2021 07:41

@68degreesnorth you get the antibiotics IV in labour so try and put it out your mind just now ❤ my DS was born with group B Strep so I am getting precautionary antibiotics too. I've asked A LOT of questions about it 🤣 xx

bubblybrit · 29/10/2021 08:01

@Dyra. My DD will either not really grasp the concept of a new baby or she’ll keep asking when is the new baby coming. There’s usually no in between with her. Think I’ll leave it a little longer until my bump is more pronounced as I’m sure she’ll start to ask questions at that point!

@Cheekymonkey3112. Ah that’s lovely that he is getting excited already. It’s a lot for their little minds to process. I’m not sure how DD will react as she’s such a mummies girl....ill likely start being more vocal about the new baby after Christmas as it still gives her 3 months to try and adjust.

68degreesnorth · 29/10/2021 12:00

@Cheekymonkey3112 oh I'm not worried about it, I'm just annoyed at having to take more antibiotics. I've had far too many courses in my lifetime...

68degreesnorth · 29/10/2021 12:02

@Cheekymonkey3112 did you have to stay in for a couple of days to check your DS was ok after birth?
