Hi everyone made a new thread for all the ladies due end of March beginning of April 2022. We are coming to the end of the first trimester, some of you have already crossed that important milestone! Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

Hello everyone. Does anyone know how long it takes for a pattern of kicks/baby movement to become established? I know I'm a bit early still (15+3) but I thought I felt a few little flutters yesterday. I've possibly had one today, but not sure, and now driving myself a bit mad trying to figure out what it was. Dear me, I thought I'd calm down a bit more by this point, still anxious though! Hope you're all keeping well x

Dyra · 17/10/2021 12:50

Pretty sure my midwife said around 24 weeks. It'll be sporadic and very faint to start with, getting stronger and regular as time goes on. At 15 weeks it's entirely possible to be feeling movement, but I wouldn't be worried at all that you won't be feeling them much, or even every day yet.

GeorgiaMcGraw · 17/10/2021 12:53

Thank you @dyra, I am going to take a deep breath and relax a bit! Hope you have a good Sunday Star

charley39 · 17/10/2021 21:22

Anyone else been having pains recently?
I’m having a lot of period type pains and then +/- pain either side of my abdomen. Mentioned to midwife last week and said it was just stretching pains or I could be overdoing it slightly. Just been in the worst pain this evening. I do remember being in pain with my first but can’t remember exact timings with regards to weeks. My bump is definitely growing so I assume it is that. Just wondered if anyone else was experiencing the same?

Carolinesyear · 18/10/2021 09:11

@charley39 I've had exactly the same thing yesterday and today I'm 16 weeks this week and I've been getting sharp pains in my left side and my back. Maybe did too much yesterday

@Carolinesyear yes 17 weeks here! But this started last week. Glad I’m not alone but rubbish you’ve got them too!

Twinkles18 · 18/10/2021 10:11

Hope everyone's keeping well 🤍 I get those pains too but they don't sound as bad as yours, I'm sure it's just stretching..hopefully it eases up for you soon @charley39

We had a little gender reveal at the weekend and found out we're having a girl! So excited 💕🎀 thought it was a girl from using nub theory on the scans but it's a great feeling just finding out in black and white what they will be and starting to plan 💝

Dyra · 18/10/2021 11:36

Congratulations @Twinkles18!

Heartburn needs die. Or whatever the hell is causing me to feel so shit. I definitely do not remember this with my first pregnancy.

Scoaf · 18/10/2021 17:50

I also had alot of pain week 15/16 but seems to have eased up a bit now.

Has everyone started wearing maternity bras?
Im really struggling. Ive got quite big boobs and feel like whatver bra i try doesnt feel right.
Can anyone recommend a good 1? Also ive read conflicting advice about underwired vs not?

charley39 · 18/10/2021 19:49

@Twinkles18 it’s really bad in the evenings which is why I think I’m overdoing it. Might see how it goes the next few days and give midwifes a call. Hate bothering them for every little thing.

@Scoaf I’ve had to give up on wired bras!! Was so painful to wear. Currently living out of wire free bras!

GeorgiaMcGraw · 18/10/2021 20:18

I've not gone for a maternity bra, but I have gone up a cup size. Quite liking the soft, non-wired modal bra from Next atm. Weird pains most days, some nipping pains, some period-type pains, sometimes I get a pain like someone is just prodding a bruise in my midriff. It's all a bit weird and I never really relax, always paranoid about mmc's. I suppose we're all going to have pains while we're expanding though!

Derbee · 18/10/2021 21:53

Haven’t seen this thread for ages, so was happy to find it again! Currently 17w2d and HG is still “moderate” so I’ve been struggling.

I haven’t noticed my boobs getting bigger - is that normal? Wondering if I should go and get measured somewhere for decent maternity bras - where do people go?

I definitely have a bump, and am now wearing maternity clothes as they’re more comfortable. I can thoroughly recommend the ASDA maternity jeggings! They’re really cheap and so comfy.

bubblybrit · 18/10/2021 22:03

Congratulations @Twinkles18 💗 x

I am having an awful time at the moment with migraines. It’s so bad that I’ve been signed off work.

Clearly can’t take all the usual pain meds and trying to use paracetamol sporadically.

Has anyone got any suggestions of pregnancy safe ways to alleviate the pain. My friend suggested 4head which I believe is a balm of some sort?

bubblepond · 18/10/2021 23:13

Congratulations @Twinkles18 !!

I'm sorry your migraines are playing up @bubblybrit, I'm sorry I don't have any advice really but I hope they settle soon! Are your migraines normally hormone related?

@Derbee hi again! :) I really hope your HG disappears at some point soon! My boobs seemed to be more swollen at 6 weeks pregnant than they are now! 🙈 I've heard good things about Sloggi bras but they seem a bit pricey. I've been living in a pack of H&M maternity bras which are super comfy but not sure how supportive they are!

I had my 16 week appointment today and all is going well. They didn't listen with the Doppler which I was a bit sad about but oh well! It feels like a really long wait for the 20 week scan now!

charley39 · 19/10/2021 06:23

@bubblybrit I have this like headband gel thing? Sorry don’t know what it was called but it looks like eye goggles full of beads which you keep in the fridge and then you can put it round your head for 10-15 mins does take some of the pressure off when I get a migraine.
You have tiger balm but not sure how safe that is in pregnancy?
Or I usually put one of the cooling gel strips on and that helps to take some of it away.
Trying to think of all the things without medicationHmm

Countingchicks · 19/10/2021 07:14

@bubblybrit you can take codeine in pregnancy. I'd avoid Tiger Balm as I think it contains wintergreen oil which we can't use in pregnancy (I'm into my essential oils for pain relief which got me off pregabalin). When things get bad I rub on a muscle balm I made which contains a very little bit of cbd oil. I'm going to use it today as my neck has set off a pounding headache

Derbee · 19/10/2021 13:02

@bubblybrit I’ve had some relief from ice packs on my forehead/eyes for migraines. It’s so awful when you feel you can’t take anything because of pregnancy. I can’t believe how much we’re doing for these little babies already, it’s amazing how protective you can feel about a little person who you haven’t even met yet! My whole internet search history is “is safe in pregnancy?”

Countingchicks · 19/10/2021 18:15

Anyone else finding they get periods of dizziness? Just had one and thought I was going to be sick which is off as I haven't been sick at all during pregnancy!

bubblybrit · 20/10/2021 14:43

Thank you @bubblepond @charley39 @Countingchicks @Derbee. Sorry it’s taken me a while to reply. I’m trying to stay away from the glare of my phone/tv etc as it’s making my migraine worse. I’m feeling marginally better today. Could cry with relief!

Yes @Derbee. My internet search is exactly the same! I think it’s natural as I did the same with my DD.

theconfused · 20/10/2021 17:44

@Countingchicks omg yessss!

17 weeks now and the dizziness is just unreal.

I stand up and I feel I'm going to pass out any second!

Countingchicks · 20/10/2021 17:48

@theconfused glad it's not just me!

bubblepond · 21/10/2021 09:38

@Countingchicks yes me too! My blood pressure was much lower than it usually is at my 16 week check so I think that's why.

Nats7504 · 21/10/2021 15:00

Has anyone turned into a hormonal mess or is it just me? 🙈 I’ve been on the brink of tears all week for absolutely no reason!

Im struggling a little with my changing body. I love it but seeing the numbers go up on the scales not so much. I’ve made OH get rid of the scales as it’s not doing me any good. I keep telling myself that I’m growing a baby and I’m meant to put weight on!! This is my 3rd baby so I know the drill.

Please tell me I’m not alone 😩

Scoaf · 21/10/2021 15:51

@nats7504
You are definitely alone.
This is my 1st pregnancy and im usually quite active and quite slim so im struggling to get used to my ever changing body plus im suffering with awful sciatica so cant do all my usual walking.
I am so so grateful to be pregnant and feel so blessed but i feel huge and horrible in everything i wear and im only 17weeks. 🙈
Im so jealous of these beautiful ladies who look so radiant and amazing im pregnancy.
X

Nats7504 · 21/10/2021 15:58

@Scoaf Sorry you’re feeling the same but thank god I’m not alone! 🤣

I’m usually pretty active too but have no energy and feel generally really full, so baby is either massive (which I know he isn’t!) or I need to grow more to accommodate him 🙈

The elusive ‘pregnancy glow’ hasn’t showed up here either. I’m currently pale, podgy and slightly unhinged 🤷🏻‍♀️
