Hi everyone made a new thread for all the ladies due end of March beginning of April 2022. We are coming to the end of the first trimester, some of you have already crossed that important milestone! Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

Had my 16 week MW appt today and they checked the heartbeat but she was very open that they can’t always find it that early with a Doppler but all seemed well. I was panicking as I had been feeling at least one movement a day from 12 weeks up until the last couple of days and now nothing so of course my mind was going into overdrive!

Dyra · 12/10/2021 18:14

That's utter rubbish your trust isn't doing the 16 week appointment @Pac35. Even a phonecall is better than nothing at all.

My 16 week appointment is tomorrow as well @Scoaf. Hopefully your midwife will check the heartbeat. It's such a wonderful sound to hear, but understandable that not every midwife will check. They are still tiny that even experienced midwives can struggle to find it and cause unnecessary distress. Could be baby you're feeling though! I remember starting feeling DD's around this time. Felt like little bubbles. Pretty sure I'm feeling this one now as well. Enjoy your scan on Saturday.

Scan on the 12th November for me, with consultant on the 16th. Feels like forever, but I know when New Year rolls around, it's all going to feel far too soon!

@Nats7504 How are you getting on with taking aspirin now? Congratulations on your little boy! Any front runners for names yet?

Nats7504 · 12/10/2021 19:36

@Scoaf I don’t think we ever relax until they are born and then the worry continues through their lives 🙈 The first appointment will probably be a bit like that but after that hopefully it will be more tailored to you. Glad your work is fine with it, they can’t say much with it being pregnancy related. Mine just said that they could tag the consultant appointments onto the end of the scans instead of different days. To be fair it would make more sense 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Dyra Yay on baby movements, mine are pretty strong for only 17 weeks. He’s a strong little thing already! I’ll be honest, i stopped taking them as they made me feel like shit. I already suffer with sickness and still on meds for it and that mixed with the low blood pressure/fainting it gave me tipped me over the edge. I should try them again. No names yet to be honest, I need to get on it!

bubblybrit · 12/10/2021 21:08

That’s good to know @Mazblue86. I would usually shop at Next but wasn’t too sure whether their maternity range was any good!

bubblybrit · 12/10/2021 21:11

Congratulations on your little boy 💙 wonderful news x

bubblybrit · 12/10/2021 21:14

Sorry meant to tag @Nats7504 for the above comment!

Nats7504 · 12/10/2021 21:23

@bubblybrit Thank you lovely. We are over the moon and I know what to expect with boys 🤣

I got most of my clothes from H&M, they are good for key pieces like leggings and plain tops 😊

bubblybrit · 13/10/2021 09:54

@Nats7504. I have a DD and another girl on the way...so I feel the same as you in that I know what I’m doing with girls lol 😂 oh good shout as I forgot about H&M! Thanks x

Scoaf · 13/10/2021 12:12

@Dyra
I hope your appt goes well and yoyr midwife listens to the heartbeat.
Good to know my feelings sounds like the baby 😊
@nats7504
Just had my consultant appt, she was really nice. Ive got an increased risk of preeclampsia and low birth weight so having growth scans now too and have to increase my asprin.
So even more appointments to add to the diary 🤣
X

Dyra · 13/10/2021 15:23

Thanks @Scoaf!

Just got back from the appointment and she did listen! ☺️ Heard the placenta first, then found baby not long afterwards. Absolutely wonderful. Glad your consultant appointment went well. Growth scans are great. Extra opportunities to see baby? Sign me up! Hopefully you get a regular sized baby as well.

Apparently I'm going to be treated like FTM in regards to antenatal appointments to keep an eye on my BP. So I get the full whack of midwife/GP antenatal appointments again.

Scoaf · 13/10/2021 15:31

@Dyra
Ah made up for you. Glad they are keeping an extra eye on you.
Ive had mine too but she didnt listen 😭 she said its causes too much worry if they cant find it and she would have to send me to hospital if she couldnt find it. At least i still have my private scan saturday 😊

Dyra · 13/10/2021 15:46

Oh rubbish that your midwife didn't listen, but at least Saturday isn't too far away. Whooping cough booked in for next week. 28 week + GTT also booked (early January!). Just need to book in 25 week GP and I think that's every antenatal appointment for the rest of this year sorted.

Nats7504 · 13/10/2021 15:50

@Scoaf Glad your consultant appointment went well and she was nice. Having a plan in place will put your mind at ease. Mine was a junior male doctor who was pretty rude and I came out of it feeling a little overwhelmed. Only plus side was he was very good looking 🤣 I didn’t hear the heartbeat either, she didn’t offer and I didn’t ask.

@Dyra Yay to hearing babies heartbeat and a successful appointment 😊 I’ve not booked any of my jabs yet, I’m such a wuss 🙈

Scoaf · 13/10/2021 15:53

@Dyra
I know i was a bit disappointed.
Yes i booked my whooping cough for next week and i have my flu jab tomorrow.
Sorry whats GTT? All new to this 🤣

Scoaf · 13/10/2021 15:56

@Nats7504
Thankyou... im happy with the extra scans and feel reassured that they are keeping an extra eye on me. Although she did say i am her 1st ever patient with my condition, so maybe im just interesting? 🤣
Oh always a bit of a bonus having some eye candy 🤣

Dyra · 13/10/2021 15:58

@Scoaf

GTT = Glucose tolerance test. I.e. the truly awful sugar drink test.

I have two risk factors for gestational diabetes, so it's advised I have it.

Scoaf · 13/10/2021 16:02

@Dyra
Oh i have heard of that 😬 poor you.... Is that a standard thing for everyone or just if you are considered higher risk?

bubblybrit · 14/10/2021 12:07

Well my 16 week midwife appointment was uneventful. Was in and out in 10 mins. She took urine sample and checked blood pressure. She also scheduled another appointment for end Nov and then sent me on my way lol 😂

theconfused · 14/10/2021 12:26

Had my GTT at 16 weeks today.

Couldn't even keep the liquid down so couldn't finish the test, GP will reschedule at a later date.

How does it usually work if you're struggling to keep anything down?

Kat2022 · 15/10/2021 18:07

Hi ladies. In the past 2 weeks I’ve been really experiencing bad digestion which means I can’t eat anything past 2pm as I don’t seem to be digesting any food (I’m 14 weeks now). It’s quite painful and if I just had a little bit too much to eat I have to throw up (it’s just stuck in my stomach). I’ve noted that I throw up 4-5 hours after my meal and the food is still not processed. Sorry for too much info. I can’t get an appointment with my doctor and I have to try again on Monday first thing. My sister said I may need omeprazole but I don’t think I have any acid reflux. It’s really painful and because I vomit on a daily basis I’ve done something to my ribs due to pressure and I’m in so much pain when breathing in. It’s my first pregnancy and I’m finding it very difficult. I’ve been off sick 3 months due to sickness and now when I’m starting to feel a bit better with the morning sickness I just can’t function due to the pain I’m experiencing. I know I need to seek medical advice but I wondered if any of you experienced something similar? I’m also scared that I will have eating disorder after this pregnancy.

bubblepond · 16/10/2021 18:41

@Kat2022 I'm sorry you're feeling so rubbish! I've also been vomiting food 5 hours after eating it, undigested. The increased progesterone slows down movement through the gut. Have you spoken to GP yet? I hope you get some good help and advice from them ❤️

We've started buying baby clothes today despite saying we were buying nothing until at least 24 weeks! Has anyone had their 16 week midwife appointment yet?

Dyra · 16/10/2021 20:06

I've had mine @bubblepond. Boring bog standard appointment, but I did get to hear baby's heartbeat. When will yours be? What clothes did you buy for baby?

Dyra · 16/10/2021 20:07

Ah bigger. Hit post too soon.

@Scoaf How did your scan go today?

Kat2022 · 16/10/2021 21:01

@bubblepond thanks for your message. I tried to book an appointment but my surgery is just so busy. I’ve managed to get a private app this evening so I am going to get some diagnostic tests done first and then I will be put on omeprazole if needed. I was hoping she could prescribe this medication now as I am just exhausted and in so much pain.

I have my midwife app in 2 weeks time that’s for 16 week but also booked in for gender scan so that is exciting. I don’t want to find out on a day so they will write it down for me and my husband and I can open an envelope later. I will have all the videos, prints and usb photos so really looking forward to it. I’ve not had the best experience so far so I don’t really feel like I’m pregnant yet but when I see a baby on a scan it makes me realise it’s all real! it’s a very crazy feeling. Also not showing yet so it will probably all change very soon :-) Are you finding out if you’re having a boy or a girl?

Scoaf · 16/10/2021 21:39

@Dyra
It was so good thankyou 😍
Got to hear the heartbeat and she checked all the organs and everything looked perfect, so im feeling very happy tonight 🥰
