Hi everyone made a new thread for all the ladies due end of March beginning of April 2022. We are coming to the end of the first trimester, some of you have already crossed that important milestone! Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

Has anyone else who’s nausea/sickness had gone away started feeling really sick again?
I’ll be 15 weeks tomorrow and I was sick yesterday morning (straight after having my toast) and then felt rough/nauseous all day and just been sick again this morning! Sad

I thought I was over the worst!

Kat2022 · 04/10/2021 14:08

@Bluebell88 I’m 14 weeks on Wednesday and I’m still feeling rough. I have good and bad days but I can’t hold the food down in the afternoon and I find evenings really difficult. I’m exhausted and I really crave like a nice hot meal but the thought of it makes me feel sick. Currently on oranges, kiwi, watermelon and crumpets with Nutella 🙈 people say that this should ease week 16 or so? It’s so exhausting I don’t leave the house as I’m paranoid I will throw up as soon as I’m in a public place. just try to be positive I know it’s hard but don’t let your mind to think that this will never end! We will get through it :-(

Bluebell88 · 04/10/2021 14:24

@Kat2022 sorry to hear you’re suffering too, but glad I’m not the only one. It’s just frustrating because I had a few weeks where I was starting to feel much better and then bam hit with the sickness again and this is worse than first trimester as I was never actually sick two days in a row!
Keeping my fingers crossed for 16 weeks!!
Hope you start to feel better soon, it’s so draining! At least you’re managing to get some fruit in, all I want is beige food!

charley39 · 04/10/2021 19:23

@Bluebell88 mine did come back again at 15 weeks after a good few days. Luckily my good days outweigh the bad now. I tried a few days without medication as I felt okay without it but then the sickness came back so back on them for now. I’m surprisingly better at work than home? Maybe more to distract me I don’t really get time to think about being sick.

Hope yours starts to ease soon it really is no fun!

bubblepond · 05/10/2021 12:11

@Bluebell88 I'm sorry you've been feeling so rough! mine has started coming back over the last couple of days but I think that it's because of the shifts I've been doing at work. I've noticed that if I don't get enough sleep or don't eat at regular times I feel worse. I really hope you're feeling better again soon!

Bluebell88 · 05/10/2021 14:09

@bubblepond hope you don’t suffer too badly! Having a better day today which is a relief! People keep telling me I should be full of energy and feeling great by now but it’s the complete opposite which is disappointing/frustrating, waiting impatiently for that glow to arrive!!

bubblepond · 05/10/2021 19:05

@Bluebell88 thank you!! I'm glad you're having a better day - I am too! It's a nice feeling :) I've forgotten what it feels like to feel normal though!

Leen437 · 06/10/2021 07:02

Morning all, hope everyones ok, i have my 16 week midwife check up next week, apart from getting your blood results, does anyone know what else happens? Im just curious

BaaBaaEmily · 06/10/2021 07:29

I think it depends if it's face to face or over the phone? If it's face to face they'll probably do blood pressure/urine and depending on your trust the midwife might listen to baby's heartbeat. If it's over the phone probably just a chat to see how you're getting on?
I need to chase up my appointment with my midwife as I'm 15 weeks and it hasn't been booked in yet.

Leen437 · 06/10/2021 08:46

Mines face to face, i got it booked after my 12 week scan at the hospital, i also thought my 20 week scan would be booked after the next midwife appointment but i just got it through the post.

Dyra · 06/10/2021 08:58

Pretty much what @BaaBaaEmily said. Blood pressure check and urine dip, and a short chat about how you're doing. If you're lucky, a first listen to baby with the Doppler as well. Not every midwife will do it though, due to baby still being so small that the heartbeat can be quite difficult to find.

They'll also check that your 20 week scan is booked, and if you're due to see a consultant, that that's booked in too. If you need the GTT, that might get booked in as well, but that can equally be booked at the 25 week appointment. And then finally, booking the 25 week appointment!

Nats7504 · 06/10/2021 09:23

@Leen437 I have mine on Friday so I’ll let you know! She’s a bit scatty so god knows what’s in store for me 🤣

I think I’m going to have to admit defeat and buy some maternity clothes. I’m living in lounge sets/leggings at the moment!

We find out the sex on Saturday. I’m really nervous of scans and something being wrong! My MIL and FIL are coming with us too, added pressure!

GeorgiaMcGraw · 08/10/2021 09:07

Hello all, had my NHS dating scan yesterday, showed a very wriggly baby at 14 weeks, nuchal fluid all fine! How is everyone doing? I think I've still got a uti and the amoxicillin isn't working. GP told me to take a urine sample in on Monday and they said they didn't gave anyone to take it, but someone would try as a favour! I ended up asking the woman taking my blood if I could give her a sample and thankfully she said she'd hand it in 😂 no idea if they'll call ne with results, so going to try to get in touch on Monday. Dearie me, all a palaver. Bloomin' bladder.

Dyra · 08/10/2021 09:50

@GeorgiaMcGraw Always lovely to see a wriggly baby on a scan, but absolute rubbish that your UTI isn't budging.

Doing ok. Had a bit of a high blood pressure episode on Monday. Nothing drastic, but my BP only just tipping into "high" was how pre-eclampsia was picked up last time. MAU wouldn't see me (as

GeorgiaMcGraw · 08/10/2021 19:15

@dyra oh no, that must be worrying for you, I hope it's not pre-eclampsia! Your message cut off after "MAU wouldn't see me", did you get to see anyone in the end?

charley39 · 08/10/2021 21:37

Covid booster and flu jab today, went for the double whammy! Dreading waking up tomorrow and what I’m going to be feeling likeConfused

bubblybrit · 09/10/2021 00:04

I have the worst ‘cold’ ever...coughing, sneezing, loss of taste, headaches....you name it! I have taken a lateral flow test and it’s negative but I’m wondering if I should book a PCR test just to be sure?

Can’t sleep at all and hence the time of this post 😢! Hate taking any meds whilst pregnant but had to give in and take paracetamol to try and ward off my headache. Taken the edge off but still can’t sleep as coughing kicks off as soon as I lie down.

Hope everyone else is well and planning a nice weekend x

theconfused · 09/10/2021 00:09

Hi all!

Hoping you're all well, I'm new here (due date of 29th March 2022) with my first child!

Currently battling it out with severe hyperemesis gravidarum which doesn't seem to disappear!

Sunshineandgin · 09/10/2021 09:05

I've got my 16 week midwife appointment on Friday, I saw a consultant last week but that appointment felt a bit of tick list form filling exercise tbh. Still no clearer on whether to go for vbac but they said I've got until 36 weeks to decide so that's ages away!

Sorry for those of you still feeling/being sick it must be horrible. No symptoms of anything now except my bump had properly popped - maternity clothes all the way now haha.

Toddler suddenly stopped breastfeeding last week, a bit sad as maybe it'd have been nice to have a go at the tandem feeding thing but then also nice to think my boobs get a 6 month break before new baby arrives! 18 months is still longer than I expected we might do so trying to give myself credit for that.

Dyra · 09/10/2021 15:43
@dyra oh no, that must be worrying for you, I hope it's not pre-eclampsia! Your message cut off after "MAU wouldn't see me", did you get to see anyone in the end?
Oh no! What a place for my message to cut off! @GeorgiaMcGraw I saw my GP the next day, but BP had returned to normal, so nothing to be done. There was a small amount of protein detected in my urine, so that and some bloods have been sent off. They doubt (and I agree) anything will be picked up, as pre-eclampsia is vanishingly rare before 20 weeks. Think it's being put down as "one of those things". I feel and am fine now. Invested in a BP monitor, so I can keep an eye on myself.

Hope you're doing ok @charley39!

That sounds truly dreadful @bubblybrit. I've heard there's a 'super-cold' making the rounds at the moment, and you have all my sympathies. Don't feel bad about needing medicine. I've done the exact same already this pregnancy (headache that would not shift), and a few doses of paracetamol is very unlikely to have any effect on baby. Hope you feel much, much better soon.

Welcome @theconfused! HG can take a dive into a dumpster fire. Hope it goes away soon for you.

I'm impressed you'd managed to keep going with BF @Sunshineandgin! I had to give it up a couple of weeks after BFP as my nipples were hurting too much when DD was suckling. Tbh it is nice to have stopped, but I occasionally miss the closeness.

bubblybrit · 11/10/2021 08:24

Thank you @Dyra. I’ve had to call in sick today. My sickness record is gonna be shot over the last 12 months with being off for my MMC in Dec, morning sickness and now this. Makes me feel a bit anxious if I’m being honest.

How are you doing?

Dyra · 11/10/2021 09:19

All pregnancy related absence can't be held against you @bubblybrit! The MMC and any morning sickness, providing they knew you were pregnant at the time, can't and won't count towards your sickness leave. Hope that eases your anxiety a little and your day off today goes a long way to helping you recover.

I'm doing ok ty. Come down with a cold myself, but it seems like it's a normal sniffle. I'm on annual leave, and the toddler is at nursery, so got the day to myself.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

bubblybrit · 11/10/2021 10:15

Thanks @Dyra. Yes they have been noted as pregnancy related absences so I guess that’s something! I was also referred to occ health both times so have those reports on file. Thank you for your reassurance. I just feel that I’m being unreliable work wise at the moment which is so unlike me.

Glad that your cold hasn’t come to much. Hope you can have a day of relaxation with your DC being at nursery.

Dyra · 11/10/2021 10:52

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it. I know how horrible it is to be feeling that you're letting your team down, but I bet they understand more than you think. Exceptions are for exceptional times, and there are few times more exceptional than pregnancy!

bubblybrit · 11/10/2021 14:26

Thank you @Dyra. Just feel a bit pathetic right now.

Where are you ladies buying your maternity clothes from? When I was pregnant with DD I bought almost everything from Mothercare so not quite sure what’s the best/affordable retailer! Any suggestions?
