Hi everyone made a new thread for all the ladies due end of March beginning of April 2022. We are coming to the end of the first trimester, some of you have already crossed that important milestone! Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

Welcome @rosiej95, I'm sorry you've had such a nightmare booking your scan, it really shouldn't be this hard! :( I hope you get a date soon!

Carolinesyear · 28/09/2021 06:58

@GeorgiaMcGraw the acne for me has been really bad, I can't imagine you'd have caused any harm using a topical cream though, I bet it just hasn't been fully tested. I used to use a retinoid cream alongside zineryt. Retinols have not been tested for pregnancy so I stopped them but zineryt is about the only acne drug that has been proven to be completely safe (it's a lotion rather than a tablet) maybe you could speak to your GP about getting some.
Good luck today @Ania89

@Catconfusion the lovely lady on the phone was very reassuring & said I have until 14+6 but i thought that was to long
Hopefully I'm not waiting to long tho & I get to see my little bean again soon.
I had a scan at 9+6 & the lady that did the scan was ever so reassuring & said everything is looking really good & to enjoy the pregnancy. So hopefully all is still well 🤞🏻

Oo will have to have a look at those Thankyou. I've found Instagram have a lot of small businesses that sell neutral baby clothes too. I'm still determined to keep it a surprise 😂

@bubblepond hopefully it's all smooth from now 🙈😂

Nats7504 · 28/09/2021 10:14

Morning everyone!

Hope everyone is ok and welcome to the newbies 😊

@rosiej95 My midwife forgot to book my scan too, chased her at 12 weeks and had my scan at 13+3. She been pretty rubbish so far, hope it’s just a blip and not the norm! 🙈

I got my screening letter today, Low risk.. so relieved. Literally that’s all the letter said, 1 sentence 🤣

Has anyone else been put onto aspirin? I’ve been taking it for the last few days and it’s making me feel awful, I’ve been sick everyday since too. I had HG and still on the meds from the doctor so it’s either that or it’s coming back.

I’m finding out the gender too, have a scan booked next week 😊 OH wanted to find out and I wasn’t bothered either way so we booked one. I have 2 boys already and both of their pregnancies were completely different and so has this one. 🤣

BaaBaaEmily · 28/09/2021 12:03

Great news on all the scans!

That's so annoying @rosiej95 I would be so frustrated too.

The whole skincare in pregnancy thing is a minefield @GeorgiaMcGraw plus essential oils. I spent ages the other night trying to work out if I could use my regular bath oil.

Dyra · 28/09/2021 12:28

That's really rubbish @rosiej95. I hope you get your scan date through soon. And a better midwife...

I'm on aspirin as well @Nats7504. When in the day do you take it? I found in my first pregnancy that if I took any tablets in the morning before food I would be ill. In the end (and in this pregnancy too) I take everything in the evening after dinner. Going to bed not long after taking them seems to help as well.

Nats7504 · 28/09/2021 13:15

@Dyra I’ve tried in the morning and after tea! The box doesn’t give a time to take it or whether it needs to be taken with food or not. I think it’s my blood pressure that’s making me feel shit, it’s making me feel faint. Plus I’m not dissolving them and taking them whole. No way I could take them otherwise 🙈

Dyra · 28/09/2021 14:46

I can't take dissolved aspirin either. Envy < Not envy. I take them whole too. There was a thread not too long ago that said it was advisable to take with food, purely because it can irritate your stomach lining if it comes into contact. I just go with evening as: 1) I have an alarm to remind me, 2) it's when my biggest meal of the day is, 3) I'm not rushing around trying to do 1 million and one other things, and 4) if they do trigger some nausea, I'm too tired to care and sleep is soon.

Nats7504 · 28/09/2021 16:46

@Dyra Thank you for the tips. I’ll give them a few more days and see if I start to feel better with them. Can I ask why you’ve been put on them?

Countingchicks · 28/09/2021 17:12

@GeorgiaMcGraw I think it's because salicylic acid is related to aspirin, it comes from the salix (willow) which historically people used to chew for pain relief as it metabolised into aspirin (and did bad things to stomachs in the process).

I have essential oils and been careful to dilute those that can be used so they are safe. Going to put some lavender and copaiba in Epsom salt tonight for my hot bath (yes another thing we're told to avoid!) as my back is very affected by the damp weather. May resort to my homemade muscle rub with CBD in it too, spoke to midwife about it and she said it's up to me, just no research on it as yet but it's what got me off the dangerous pain medication which is really not good for pregnancy (pregabalin)

Ania89 · 28/09/2021 18:10

Hi ladies, I just wanted to report to my scan went well. Baby measuring 13+2 so spot on. NT measurement 2 - hopefully the bloods will come back ok too. Baby was stubborn and would not move to allow the sonographer to take measurements. I had to go for a quick walk and come back ;)

Carolinesyear · 28/09/2021 19:09

@Ania89 fantastic news! Do you have a photo? I'd love to see as you're the exact same gestation as me :)

OP posts:
bubblepond · 28/09/2021 19:10

@Ania89 congratulations on the scan!! We are 1 day apart, I'm 13+3 :) hope your bloods come back ok!

Carolinesyear · 28/09/2021 19:16

Also @Ania89 I take it you are 32 too? I was also born in 89, same gestational age anddddd NT of exactly 2

OP posts:
Ania89 · 28/09/2021 19:23

Photo should be attached now :) the sonographer really struggled to take a decent photo due to baby’s awkward position @Carolinesyear I am actually 35, Ania86 was already taken hence Ania89 ;)

Evening everyone!
Hope you’re all well and feel better! I saw the posts about salicylic acid during pregnancy. I know you shouldn’t use pure salicylic acid or anything over 2% but I’ve been using my cleansing bar which contains it, when I researched it said it’s ok to use in mild form or if it’s in a cleanser/soap etc but now I’m worried. Should I stop using it altogether?

Dyra · 28/09/2021 22:30
@Dyra Thank you for the tips. I’ll give them a few more days and see if I start to feel better with them. Can I ask why you’ve been put on them?
Sure you can. 😊 First pregnancy was due to BMI. This pregnancy is BMI and previous pre-eclampsia. I already knew I was going to be taking it, so I started from BFP rather than waiting for 12 weeks.

Nats7504 · 28/09/2021 22:57

@Dyra Ahh, that makes sense. I was prescribed it from the consultant due to having high BP in my first pregnancy but didn’t have high BP with my second and wasn’t prescribed it then?! Plus they said I had small babies 🙄 I don’t class 6lb 14 and 7lb 2 as small. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think it’s all down to being 37 and nothing to do with the other stuff!

Kipkay35 · 29/09/2021 13:17

I'm 15 weeks and having mild cramps today. I assume growing? No bleeding or anything. Has anyone else had this?

charley39 · 29/09/2021 18:19

@Kipkay35 I’m 14+6 so right behind you. The last few days I’ve had more cramping but I’ve been more active so wondered if it was just me overdoing it. I had it a lot worse with my first pregnancy and always put it down to everything stretching but nobody really mentions it i found x

Carolinesyear · 30/09/2021 10:18

Does anyone else have the Badger app? Where you can look at your medical records online? I had my scan on Monday and got my results back via the app
Downs 1 in 4000
Edwards 1 in 10000

@Carolinesyear
I have badger notes too, but it doesn’t seem to get updated with anything useful, my booking bloods just say not recorded and my 16 week appointment isn’t showing on there. It’s been 2 weeks since my 12 weeks scan and my bloods for screening and I haven’t had my results yet, I guess no news is good news (hopefully)!

Those are great results!

Carolinesyear · 30/09/2021 12:05

That's really not on @Bluebell88. You should phone them.
The only thing I'd say is that it's more than likely it's low risk if you've not heard.
I'm contemplating a 16 week harmony, does anyone know if they tell you the sex at a harmony?

Countingchicks · 30/09/2021 13:00

@Carolinesyear @Bluebell88 I have this app too and it's rubbish. Midwife can't work out why it's not updating
