Oh wow @DJmum83 that was an unexpected entrance to the world! Congratulations, she is lovely 🥰 we seem to have a lot of girl power on this thread, more girls than boys at the moment!

Hope little Remi stabilises soon and you can take her home.

lucyrp · 25/09/2021 19:09

@DJmum83 congratulations! Hope you're both doing well xxx

becarefuloutthere · 25/09/2021 20:29

@DJmum83 congratulations I hope you're both ok! Lovely name 💕

DJmum83 · 25/09/2021 21:39

Thank you all. I'm very sore and tired from the section.
Remi has respiratory distress syndrome and is really struggling.
I got a wee quick hold just love her. Can't wait for her sisters and brothers to meet her.

Aww 💕 glad you got to see her I'm sure it won't be long until she's strong enough to come home 🤞 she's in good hands. Take care of yourself in the mean time!

Kirky658 · 26/09/2021 08:36

@djmum83 she is gorgeous and in the best possible hands in the care of NICU. Please feel free to dm me if you want an ear, I know how difficult that environment is. Make sure you rest up after the section as much as you can xx

Crazydoglady123 · 26/09/2021 16:33

I'm so behind on the threads!

@DJmum83 congratulations! She's absolutely gorgeous! Fingers crossed not too long till she's back in your arms 💗

@Kirky658 thinking of you loads. Make sure you're taking some you time and time out for things that enjoy doing

24 weeks next week and I feel like I'm an old lady! My hips the last couple of days are really achy. Side sleeping is the biggest pain in the arse and my hips aren't liking it at all! My bump is small too so everything's so squished I'm having to wee every 10 mins 🙈

Clairey844 · 26/09/2021 19:18

Hey, sorry I'm so behind too-just had a quick catch up.

@Kate105 hope bubba arrives soon, I only went 1 day over but the constant messages from people asking if I'd had the baby yet drove me mad so hope you're not getting too many of those!

@DJmum83 huge congratulations, Remi looks amazing for so early, she obviously wanted to be a September baby!!

@Kirky658 glad you're on the road to feeling better, and Alice sounds like she's thriving so well done to you.

@lucyrp how's the feeding going?

Lennie is 8 weeks old already-where does the time go!!

X

Justanothercyster · 27/09/2021 06:44

@2020mission I'm going to start perennial massage soon, got some special oil. Anything is worth trying right?

@Lexber really sorry about the sickness, but sounds like they're sorting you out

@DJmum83 aww congrats, welcome to the world little Remi 💕 I'm sure like others have said she will be home soon and is in good hands so

Congratulations @DJmum83 well done mummy you got there! Hope Remi is home and settled soon xx

Kate105 · 27/09/2021 10:21

Thanks @Clairey844 the messages are coming thick and fast! But all just casual "just checking in" messages... Hmmm yeah right!

Tad stressed today. Went out for lunch with a friend on Saturday who has now tested positive for Covid 🤦🏼‍♀️ have gone for a PCR this morning, LFT negative so far but I do not need this right now! Of all the weeks to have a Covid close call, week of due date is not the one! Just waiting by the phone for the test and trace contact...

2020mission · 27/09/2021 13:22

@Justanothercyster glad I'm not the only one considering it. No harm in trying! Although I think it's going to be awkward getting into position with the bump 😅 I'm already finding grooming to be troublesome as I can't see the foof anymore haha

@Kate105 hope all is well you're in with a good chance of being clear if you've been double vaccinated. I think I'll be house bound in my final weeks before my due date out of fear of catching it last minute! I'm already not really going into restaurants etc because of the risk of catching it. I'm just dining outside at cafes/restaurants when I go out. I don't like being trapped sitting near anyone coughing when pregnant but feel safe enough outside. Shops are ok here too for me since masks are still required.

Justanothercyster · 27/09/2021 13:34

So, covid is absolutely RIFE in my school. Just this past weekend we've had around 60 students and a handful of staff test positive, including someone in my dept who I sit next to! One of the other pregnant ladies also tested positive. I'm ridiculously anxious :( double jabbed doesn't seem to actually mean anything.
My dilemma is that I can't work from home, so now I'm considering taking my mat leave earlier, maybe after next week just for peace of mind. I'll be 36 weeks by that point. I was going to try to hold out until half term but I'm not sure now... people are dropping like flies.
I'm not actually teaching but have been timetabled for all library lessons for years 7,8 and 9, which means I'm ironically around more students then I would have been teaching!
What would you do?

@2020mission oh god the foof groom is a nightmare! I do a simultaneous squat and bend 😂 the bath is easiest.

Is there any way you can WFH @Justanothercyster ? I did the first 10 days of this term but other than inset and a jaunt in to frighten Y13 about their summer work I did the rest from home. Acting HOD gave me a list of admin jobs to do e.g. writing assessments, rejigging vocab lists and I just cracked on at home!

Worth speaking to your HOD and HR person- we do still have the right to request WFH from 28 weeks, and it should be easy if you have no teaching commitments

Justanothercyster · 27/09/2021 17:49

@Kate105 I can't :( because of the reading intervention stuff they won't let me.

What about your union rep @Justanothercyster ? Would they be supportive?

2020mission · 27/09/2021 20:33

@Justanothercyster hmm 36 weeks doesn't sound too early to start it but I completely get as there's a chance you could be waiting until 40 weeks for baby to make an appearance, it would be a bit annoying to be waiting for a month. It's a shame they won't let you do any admin work from home for the final few weeks to keep safe. I feel very fortunate that my job is allowing WFH. Have you got any holidays to use up or are they already booked in? I'm holding on to a couple of weeks and going to use those just before I finish for maternity leave. I can't believe you're not far from 36 weeks already!

2020mission · 27/09/2021 20:35

@Justanothercyster I've just realised teacher holidays are likely tied to the school terms so you probably don't have the same open holiday allocation to use up 😅 my bad!

Justanothercyster · 28/09/2021 06:42

@Kate105 there's not really any point with all that as I was planning to go up to half term anyway which is only really a few weeks. Maybe I'm just worrying too much. I think because I'm doing admin and not properly teaching they don't see that it's risky enough for me to wfh 🤷🏼‍♀️

@2020mission unfortunately teachers don't get to use holiday like that haha. I know!

PCR negative! Pheeeeeew 😅 now to hibernate until baby arrives 😂🙈

DJmum83 · 29/09/2021 22:57

Hi everyone
Sorry not been on much. It's been a total emotional rollercoaster of a week.
I got home today and it was so good to see my 3 babies and be in my own bed but walking out and leaving Remi was the hardest thing I have ever done..
I'm struggling big time just sitting looking in her cot.
But I have to tell myself she is getting better she is doing well she just needs more time.

Hope everybody else is doing ok. @Kate105 surely it can't be long now.

@Kirky658 how are you feeling? Hope the pills are helping a little. Hows baby getting on? Xx

Here's a wee pic of my Remi and please all send positive thoughts that she will get home soon xx

@DJmum83 she is beautiful. I'm sure she's doing absolutely great and she'll be home with you all very soon. Hope you're doing okay too? Xxx

Kirky658 · 30/09/2021 07:06

@djmum83 remi is gorgeous. I completely understand the turmoil of having to leave them in nicu. It's the hardest thing in the world but you've got to look after you, it really takes its toll being in there constantly. How is she doing? And are you OK?

I'm... OK. Had a bad night with Alice, we had her on a 4 hrly feed schedule but the last 2 days she's wanted to eat so often it is completely gone, so she was up 3 times last night which we aren't used to. The tablets don't seem to have made any difference at all, but I'm told they can take a couple of weeks to kick in and can make things worse before they get better.

Kate105 · 30/09/2021 08:05

Ahhh Remi is a wee dote! I'm sure it won't be long before she's home!

I had a bad day yesterday... had my 40 week midwife appointment and she attempted to do a sweep but couldn't even reach my cervix it was so high. Absolutely gutted that basically nothing is even remotely happening! Terrified of having to be induced. I still think they shouldn't have moved my dates forward after the first scan because they'll reckon I'm 2 weeks over by their dates when potentially in reality I'll only just be over a week late. I know I don't have to agree to any induction etc etc but easier said than done!

Justanothercyster · 01/10/2021 07:22

@DJmum83 I'm so knackered I just tried to tag Remi 😅 she is just gorgeous! Enjoy seeing her this morning 🥰

@Kirky658 it definitely does get worse before it gets better, but tablets and talking therapy is the winning combo. Keep being open and honest, it will get better x

@Kate105 oh dear, but don't be scared about induction, either way you will have a lovely baby at the end of it whatever kind of birth you have x

Having a bit of a shitter atm, got sent to DAU yesterday after my MW apt because of painful cramps I've been having. Long story short I'm aneamic, have SPD and braxton hicks have started BAD. Baby wants out I'm telling you!
