Talking about sizes all 3 of mine have been big. The girls were 8lb 12 and my boy was 9lb 5 and they were all in newborn and up to 1 month for a good few weeks.
I think it's more to do with length of baby than weight at the start.
Iv taken 2 newborn and 3 up to 1 month with me as ill likely be in 3 nights at least.
@Justanothercyster I'm getting pretty nervous to be honest.
I go in Sunday 10th at 9pm then section is on Monday morning. There's usually 3 sections booked in so I have no idea if I'm first second or third praying I'm first as the waiting last time made my blood pressure shoot up. But also emergencies could come in so need to think of that.
I know what to expect but I'm just hoping it all goes ok. The panic is setting in thinking I have had 3 sections that went ok what if this one doesn't.
Trying to keep my mind off it.
Xx

Kate105 · 23/09/2021 08:20

Interesting about newborn sizing! I haven't bought that much newborn stuff but got given loads by a friend whose gigantic baby went straight into 0-3. However if it's to do with length rather than weight then I might just need newborn for longer... Neither OH nor I are exactly giants!

Lexber · 23/09/2021 09:13

Not long now @DJmum83 how exciting! It's normal to be nervous too. Xx

@2020mission ;
From experience people tend to buy you baby clothes as presents also so I never buy too much before just a weeks worth of basics (maybe a few more) then you can always add to afterwards, Altho my first I bought so many clothes!! Just out of sheer excitement!!

@lucyrp fingers crossed for the scan, 4 weeks already! Wow she sounds lovely and I don't blame you keeping things! I have 15 and 12 years between my first 2 and this new one...

I'm struggling with sickness more as the days go on, trying to remind myself it's a positive sign Altho it doesn't feel that way when I have my head in the toilet at 7.30am or 9pm.. kids have been great bless them, helping where they can. I guess that's a perk of having older kids. It all feels so new it's hard to believe I'm doing it again.
I was 20/23 with the girls and I am 35 now, so not exactly old but I feel it!! 6+5 today so still so early - any tips for sickness ladies?! I will try anything! Currently WFH as can't face leaving the house and just turning into a hermit by choice!

DJmum83 · 23/09/2021 11:14

@Lexber I had to get tablets from doctor buccastem I think they were called they stopped me being sick but still had severe nausea.
Really feel for you hated that stage.

Well I have just had an appointment with consultant he wants the section brought forward to week begging 4th October any day that week. So he is going to try do that today but his words don't get your hopes up too much as it's so busy and if it's full we will need to stick to Monday 11th. I'll do my best let you know today.

Please let it be that week trying not to get my hopes up but my fingers are 🤞 xxx

Justanothercyster · 23/09/2021 13:51

Ahhhh @DJmum83 fingers crossed! It's normal to be nervous x

@Lexber aww the sickness sucks. Tablets if it gets really bad, but the only thing that helped me was snacking on crackers etc often. Peppermint tea also helped.

@Kate105 aw that's nice of them. My dh is super tall so I think that's why baby is so "big"! Im fairly tall too. God knows, best not to buy too much just in case haha

Just on the clothing sizes - Morrisons sizing is brilliant, as is sainsbury's and asda. Matalan is waaaay on the large size. Alice has just moved into newborn sizes 😍

Just to say in case you didn't see on the bus chat - I have been diagnosed with PND and been started on anti depressants today. I am gutted but hoping it will make me feel better xx

Justanothercyster · 23/09/2021 16:02

@Kirky658 so sorry lovely. Unfortunately it's all too common, but I'm glad they're supporting you. If you ever need to chat, I used to work with women who had PND so I'm happy to listen x

OP posts:
DJmum83 · 23/09/2021 16:46

@Kirky658 I had PND with my first was a similar experience to yours, emergency section etc.
It does get easier keep talking and opening up how you feel.
The good thing is I never got it with my next 2 abs hope I don't with this one.

Hope your ok? Xxx

Kate105 · 23/09/2021 16:53

Hope you're ok @Kirky658 it's not easy to come out and say it but the more you do the easier it will get ❤️

2020mission · 23/09/2021 17:58

@Kirky658 thanks for the clothing tips! Alice must be growing well since she's in the newborn clothes now 😃 it's good to hear that you're getting some help. It happens to a lot of woman so don't feel bad about it. I'm sure it won't be long until you are feeling better and can come off them. Take care of yourself.

Lexber · 23/09/2021 18:35

I've been to the drs today as it got so bad and I have borderline dehydration and a water infection from the lack of fluids so I'm now on anti sickness tablets and antibiotics and if no better by next week it's hospital for an IV drip for fluids.

@DJmum83 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I responded in the bus @Kirky658 but here is some extra hugs xxxx take care of yourself xxx

Kirky658 · 23/09/2021 19:03

Thanks girls. I wish I could say that I'm OK but I'm honestly truly not. I saw the most caring GP this morning and it reduced me to tears that someone medical wanted to listen and help me. But I'll be OK.

@2020mission she is growing so well! I've got her some Leggings and tops today rather than her being in sleepsuits constantly 😊

And @lexber, ❤️, you take care x

Haiyaa · 24/09/2021 06:34

Oh @Kirky658 so sorry things aren’t going how you had hoped at the moment but the most important thing is that you are getting the help you need. It can take up to 6-8 weeks for the medication to reach its full effect and initially can make you feel a little more anxious but if you persevere it gets better. Big hugs to you, you’ve got this mama!

Well I never got to use my newborn clothes with DD so hoping I might get to this time, she was 11lb1oz 😂 🐷 they were all washed and hanging in her wardrobe so couldn’t even return them! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Kate105 · 24/09/2021 11:30

Much more trivial from me ladies but OMG I'm so bored waiting for this baby to land! I've knitted like 3 baby cardies in a week and bankrupted myself by going out for lunch so often... Urgh! There's only so much Netflix I can watch and I have developed no nesting instinct therefore no desire to clean the house 😂

2020mission · 24/09/2021 13:18

I'm in the mood with the bbc after the article they posted yesterday about awful tearing in childbirth and a woman ending up with a colostomy bag 😂 c section please!

Lexber · 24/09/2021 14:01

@2020mission I hate scaremongering like that!!
If it helps you I tore with both mine naturally and the first was quite bad BUT I was oblivious to it!! I was stitch while I was off my tits on G&A and afterwards it wasn't that bad honestly!
The hardest part was just after birth but tbh your a little tender anyway but I just used witch hazel on a gauze and it heard so quickly!
It didn't put me off or scare me, the second was a small tear so they didn't bother stitching let it heal naturally.
They caused me no issues and I wouldn't know now.

It's not as bad as they make out xx

2020mission · 24/09/2021 14:26

Thanks @Lexber yeah I'm totally expecting at least a cut or a tear in some way just not the horror of that article 😅 my mum had cuts with both my brother and me... not tears it was episiotomies but I think they maybe did those more often back in the 80s than they do now? I think one of them was because she was about to have forceps for help but managed to push in the end without it.

Is anyone or has anyone done the perineum stretching/massages? I might give it a go

lucyrp · 24/09/2021 16:23

@Lexber tbh the scan was a bit of a waste of time as we have to go back in 2 weeks again for a re scan which still seems a bit too soon as they said both of her hips are "immature" which is to be expected at 4 weeks so who knows but was nice as OH took the day off to come with us and we went out for some food and did a small bit of shopping altogether which was lovely. Was about to suggest the GP and I've seen you've already contacted them. Fingers crossed the anti sickness helps you. I was on cyclizine in 1st trimester and it helps the sickness but not the nausea xx

@Kirky658 aww so sorry you've been diagnosed with that, I had late onset PND with DS and it was awful. As long as you're getting help and have a supportive hubby you'll be fine 💗 where have you got leggings and tops from for DD??

Lexber · 24/09/2021 16:28

@2020mission with my eldest (15yrs ago) I was young and clueless and think I pushed a little too much at the wrong time... resulting in a 3rd degree tear, but even then it was cope able.
As scary as it sounds it wasn't as bad I promise. I know people who have been cut also and they said the same - in the moment you don't even realise!! And the minute baby is in your arms it is all forgotten!!

I actually fell asleep while being stitched up 🤣🤣🤣 as I was so off my head!

I absolutely loved both my daughters pregnancies and labours (yep I am weird!) once past this stage, that I didn't think twice about a 3rd when we were ready!
I'm counting down to 2nd trimester to start enjoying this one...

Lexber · 24/09/2021 16:34

@lucyrp that's a shame, but good to have a family day!

I feel a little better today but I did sleep until 1.30pm on/off. The water infection isn't helping! I'm trying so hard to drink but forcing myself so much! I've managed to eat a little but still feel meh!
2nd trimester can't come quick enough, I want to enjoy food and drink and feel wonderful and "bloom" 🤣🤣🤣

Kirky658 · 24/09/2021 17:28

@lucyrp asda!

@djmum83 oh wow congratulations!!! Very normal for their blood sugars to fluctuate and to need a bit of oxygen at first, that's what happened to Alice. You take care and keep us updated xxx

2020mission · 25/09/2021 11:28

Ohh @DJmum83 what a surprise - congratulations! I'm sure she'll be doing better very soon and you can see her. She's a good weight! Hope your doing ok 💕

Kate105 · 25/09/2021 11:58

Omg @DJmum83 congratulations! Hope you're doing well!

I'm not jealous at all 😂
