@Justanothercyster yay! To no diabetes. And yes my baby had hiccups numerous times in my belly and funnily enough has them loads now she's out too🥴 interesting you say you'd choose induction, why so ?

Haiyaa · 16/09/2021 21:03

Loads of hiccups with DD @Justanothercyster, so weird!

@2020mission, yes to random diarrhoea too. I think can be down to hormones and cramping. Had it a lot with DD but more the other way this time 💩

@Lexber, I thought teenagers were pretty much oblivious tbh so maybe not so unreasonable that they haven’t noticed the pregnancy symptoms 😂 do the kids know you were trying?

2020mission · 16/09/2021 21:11

Thanks @Haiyaa, hopefully it's nothing bad then! I was thinking the lack of any nausea, fever or appetite loss was a good sign at least. Hope you're not suffering too much the other way 💩 neither is good!

How can you tell the difference between hiccups and general kicks/punches?

Lexber · 16/09/2021 21:16

@2020mission my OH is also a type 1, and he is worried sick the baby will be too. I've tried to reassure him that it's a chance but not that high and if it is then we will deal with it as and when xx

I'm an emotional wreck today, I've cried myself to sleep twice through exhaustion. @Justanothercyster I can't believe I was so much iller with my first so this compared to that is nothing but right now it feels it!

@Haiyaa no they didn't know Altho both have told us they want a baby sibling and the eldest actually told me a few weeks ago that if we were going to have a baby we need to get a move on as I'm getting on a bit now 🤣🤣 I'm only just 35 ffs 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣🤣
The eldest wants a baby brother the youngest a baby sister - so atleast one will be happy! 🤣
Tbh I think they will both be over the moon

The teenager probably just thinks I'm a complete cow 🤣🤣🤣

2020mission · 16/09/2021 21:19

@Lexber yeah mines was the same he said he'll feel so guilty if it happens. I read it's around a 5% chance so it is quite low. It's the same chance their siblings have and my husbands siblings aren't diabetic. Also it's not something that's likely to kick in for years and years if it happens. No point in worrying about it something you can't control!

Justanothercyster · 17/09/2021 06:43

@lucyrp oh I'll do whatever they suggest is best for baby when it comes to it but I'm so fed up anything to get them out early would be good 👍🏻🙈

@Haiyaa hoping it's a girl trait 🤞🏼

@2020mission the hiccups are very regular and go on for a while, you can feel the little (well big for mine haha) bumps. Baby's back was pushed to the front of my belly the other day and I managed to get a vid of the hiccups haha

@Lexber aw bless, all the hormones are going crazy x

Kate105 · 17/09/2021 08:10

I hate to say it @Lexber but the emotional rollercoaster is just starting up! I am all over the place right now 😂🙈

I don't get hiccups all that often but I am getting some serious kicks to the ribs, side, fanny... Must sign baby up to Team GB kickboxing squad ASAP as I'm clearly breeding a champion right here 😂😂😂 every time I have a midwife appointment she comments on how active it is. This bodes well...!

lucyrp · 17/09/2021 08:46

@Justanothercyster induction was the one thing I really didn't want alongside a C section, I'd definitely do some reading up on induction and the different methods etc and speak to people who have had one. Because it's forcing your body to do something it doesn't want to it can bring on the contractions thick and fast and most women are advised to have an epidural as the labour can be very long. I nearly had to be induced but like you say whatever gets the baby out healthy but if you have a choice definitely worth making an informed one!

Justanothercyster · 17/09/2021 13:18

@lucyrp oh yeah we've read up on it and I know quite a few friends who've had it done so pretty chill about it. I suppose we'll see what they say when the time comes! I want ALL the pain relief 👍🏻

OP posts:
lucyrp · 17/09/2021 13:27

@Justanothercyster oh really ?😂 well if that's the case an induction would probably be fine for you 🙈 I've only ever wanted gas and air and the thought of an epidural makes me feel sick 😂 not a fan of needles tho

Kirky658 · 17/09/2021 15:35

@lucyrp @justanothercyster hiccups aplenty both in and out here too. Lol!

For me induction had absolutely zero effect whatsoever. It could have been because it was too early though. I was adamant I didn't want an epidural as I HATE needles... And ended with a c section and a spinal so ya no 😅

Justanothercyster · 17/09/2021 17:12

@Kirky658 aw bless. Yeah by the sounds of it they'll wait until maybe a week or two before due date if they induce, that's if baby isn't here before!

OP posts:
2020mission · 17/09/2021 17:56

The only thing that puts me off epidurals are being stuck in the bed with a catheter and it slowing down labour as you can't move around and be upright 😅 although if the pain is bad enough I'll easily take it to get some rest and get through what's likely to be a long first labour! I don't think I'd give the needle a second thought if at the time the pain is unbearable and you know it will give relief.

I have low blood pressure and get light headed easily so I already suspect gas and air might make me dizzy and sick. I'll definitely try that first though.

An epidural might be handy to already have if they need to stitch up any cuts or tears after birth too.

Kirky658 · 17/09/2021 18:20

@2020mission that was why I had to have a spinal instead of epidural, because it lowers your blood pressure rapidly and because mine was so high it would have been dangerous x

Kate105 · 21/09/2021 08:17

39 weeks today, so near yet so far! How's everyone else? I woke up to a wet patch in the bed this morning from my boobs... Ah the glamour 🙈

DJmum83 · 21/09/2021 20:36

Hi @Kate105
I'm 35+2 absolutely huge baby measuring over 97th centile 🙈🙈 and so uncomfortable not sleeping at all.
My legs and ankles are so so swollen they actually hurt.

39 weeks how exciting. Not long now. Are you being induced if you don't go yourself?
How are you keeping?
Xx

Kate105 · 22/09/2021 08:08

I'm doing fine @DJmum83 but so bored of waiting! Got a sweep booked in for 40+1 and then we'll see after that... don't much fancy a proper induction but also don't fancy being pregnant for another 3 weeks potentially...!

Ah that's a PITA about your feet! Mine were really bad when the weather was hot but thankfully not so bad now, unless I'm on my feet all day.

I'm with you on the sleep thing too, what I would give to just be able to roll over!!!

Justanothercyster · 22/09/2021 13:20

@DJmum83 I feel your pain on the big baby, it sucks! Will you wait it out? I can't remember what your plan was.

@Kate105 aww exciting!

OP posts:
DJmum83 · 22/09/2021 16:29

@Justanothercyster I'm actually having a c-section at 38 weeks so not long to wait, it's my 4th c section x

2020mission · 22/09/2021 18:59

Excited for you all getting so close to baby arriving! I'm still plodding away at week 26 with my burning thigh from a compressed nerve. Otherwise all good and nothing exciting to report.

I've reached the stage of buying more things and I'm scratching my head wondering how many actual sleep suits etc I will need in each size to get by 😅 I bought a handful in each size. The 0-3 months ones look massive. Even the up to 1 month look big to me. I'm quite petite so assuming (and half hoping) the boy will be small. My mum said my brother and me were both born at just under 7 lbs but those were the days when pregnant ladies were still smoking so that might have led to us being smaller babies.

Justanothercyster · 22/09/2021 19:09

@DJmum83 ah yes I remember now. Not long at all! How are you feeling about it? X

@2020mission sorry about your thigh :( hopefully it will ease up a bit soon. Not what you need!
I would suggest waiting until you start getting a few measurements in- they're not 100% accurate but they'll give you an idea about what to expect. We have a weeks worth of newborn stuff (not that our huge baby will fit in them!), and mostly 0-3 month stuff. The labels tell you what weight they'll fit up to which makes it helpful x

OP posts:
2020mission · 22/09/2021 19:13

Thanks @Justanothercyster yeah I should start getting measurements from my 28 week appointment in 2 weeks, so hopefully that will help. I've avoided buying the newborn sizes so far incase I don't need them at all 😆 so small. How are you feeling. Swelling any better? The thigh is quite annoying as I'm usually really active and like getting walks in but it stings and burns after walking for a short period so I have to take a lot of breaks. The same happens if I sit too long as well. Can't complain too much though as I'm not needing pain killers or anything it's just more of a nuisance!

lucyrp · 22/09/2021 20:59

FYI on baby clothes sizes- DD was 4 weeks old on Tuesday and is still in mostly newborn, and some up to 1 month stuff. she was 8 pounds 4oz born so not exactly small! Also I've found tesco clothing comes up smaller!

2020mission · 22/09/2021 21:04

Ohh @lucyrp that's interesting. Glad you're getting good use out of them I was under the impression the newborn clothes would be barely used. How is little Evelyn doing? Did you keep any baby clothes from back when you had your boy to reuse?

lucyrp · 22/09/2021 21:10

@2020mission I think it completely depends on the baby and their birth size doesn't necessarily mean anything as DS was 8lb 1oz born and il sure he only stayed in newborn for a couple of weeks! Yes me too I didn't think she'd be in them for long but she has been so far! She's doing great thanks, feeding is going better although we're still feeding with shields and topping up with formula although it's more combi feeding as we give it as a seperate feed in the night that OH gives her. Off for a scan tomorrow to double check she doesn't have hip dysplasia so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 yes I kept all of his stuff so she's often in blue car or aeroplane sleepsuits 🤪
