@Lexber or "knowledge is power" 😂 I think I know the one in town you mean. We've been there before, it's where I found out about the MMC, DH won't return as he finds it too gimmicky with all the souvenirs you can buy 😆 they were very good to be fair but DH says no, so now we've got to go out of town for our private scan 🤦🏼‍♀️
Ah wow, sounds like it's all in hand. It will speed by!

@Minster2012 yes 🙌🏼 people are so rude! My MIL was the worst actually of everyone. That's really off if she did one thing for SIL and not the same for you! I think this time, entry rule. Bring food or don't come 😅

@lucyrp lactation consultants are so expensive aren't they. Have you tried a local group who may help. Some may put you in touch with a IBCLC for free

Minster2012 · 19/11/2021 20:07

My new mantra "bring food or no entry" 😂😂love it @bez91

I haven't heard back from my nuchal screening, they said if risk is higher and needs discussion then I should hear in 7/10 days. It was 8 days today so I'm desperately hoping to not hear 😬

2020mission · 19/11/2021 20:40

@Minster2012 I would say that's a good sign I think they'd be in touch quickly if there was any issues!

Quick question for you ladies... any advice on sterilisers? I'm trying to pick one but can't decide whether to go counter top steam, microwave steam, UV or cold water. All seem to have pros and cons!

feliznavidad2 · 19/11/2021 21:32

@2020mission I loved my milton cold water one, v straightforward.

Kate105 · 20/11/2021 03:48

No news is good news @Minster2012 I was told that they'd contact you pretty quickly if they were worried so hopefully all fine for you 🤞🏻

No advice on the steriliser because we don't have one but I have a friend who is a reception teacher and she swears by the cold water system. They use it for all toys etc

lucyrp · 20/11/2021 05:40

@2020mission I had a counter top steamer one which was really good but if you use mam bottles, dummies etc. they all are self sterilising so all you need is a microwave! The dummies come in little storage boxes which have a measure to tell you how much water to put in and how long to put them in for and the bottles have a measure on the lid for how much water you need and if you look online there's a quick video to show you how to assemble the bottle to sterilise it.

Kirky658 · 20/11/2021 06:47

@2020mission I started with electric steam one, electric bill was horrid, so now on a container with Milton tabs. Lasts 24 hrs and you can just leave stuff in it, no need to rinse!

Lexber · 20/11/2021 07:52

🤣🤣🤣👍🏼 @bez91 I was tired... but I did just laugh at that!! I'm such a numpty!!!
Ah hun, I can understand that it will be nice to go somewhere without bad memories - no Gim is for me, just scan me and tell me the sexes 🤣 I'm tight and will most likely be hungry again..

I might try that @Minster2012 - no food no baby cuddles! 🤣🤣 altho my girls can cook so that will be a god send. Ambs (11) made us fajitas the other night as I was so tired and she was hungry 🤣🤣🤣

Talking of food, we went out for a carvery last night - it's my Friday craving 🤣🤣 OH loves my cravings, fur the 4th week in a row to a place out of town that is the only place I want it from so 25 min drive. And got chatting to the staff as it was lovely and quiet (8.30pm) and the chef brought me out some mushy peas to take home 🤣🤣🤣 turns out the manager has twins (22) so she was chatting to us about it all for about 20 mins. It's crazy how everyone is so excited for 2, and it sparks up conversations everywhere. People ask how long I've got and when I say I'm not even 16 weeks they look shocked so I have to explain there's 2.. 🤣🤣🤣

@Minster2012 mine took about 10 days to receive the letter in the post if it's the hospital one? I agree if there were issues they'd be in touch sooner! I was worried as I remember my eldest was about 1 in 1500 and I was younger then (20) so being 35 now I assumed itd be higher!! Nope they're even lower risk

@2020mission I had microwave last time fir ease and will be again this time I think Altho I've since read everyone else had others do might look into them if they're bigger for ease as will have twice as much to do! Any specific ones guys? That I can google?

Justanothercyster · 20/11/2021 08:43

WHY DO THEY ALWAYS POO AS SOON AS YOU PUT A FRESH NAPPY ON?!?!
Argh!!

That's my input. As you were.

Minster2012 · 20/11/2021 08:53

Thank you ladies, yes I'm def hoping no news is good news

@Justanothercyster pahhhhhhh hahahahaha cos it's funny!! Have you been weed on yet??

@2020mission we also used Milton cold water container with the tablets as everything stays sterile for 24hours & we got into a good routine of first thing in the morning we drained the liquid, took out the bottles & left them out for the day then filled up the container again with a fresh tablet. You can fit any bottles in it so doesn't matter what bottles you use. We also used to Chuck in toys and anything that needed sterilising

@Lexber 2 is exciting!!! It's lovely it's sparking conversations up in places. Also LOVING the idea of a Friday carvery 🥰

I had horrendous RLP this morning. Absolutely terrible 😞 but that's good right?

Lexber · 20/11/2021 09:08

RLP? @Minster2012

Kirky658 · 20/11/2021 09:29

@justanothercyster wait till she pees on your changing mat and ends up lying in it, and then poos for good measure as well 🤣🤣🤣

Kate105 · 20/11/2021 13:10

When we were still in hospital James pooed down the front of the midwife’s tunic and was sick all down the back 😂🙈 mortified!

Minster2012 · 20/11/2021 13:33

@Justanothercyster @Kate105 ALL the fun!!

@Lexber round ligament pain (I hope!)

bez91 · 20/11/2021 16:00

Definitely no news is good news @Minster2012 mine took just over 2 weeks to come through. Like @Lexber my results were a lot lower this time too 🤷‍♀️
So @DKDK123 has ticked off her "12 week" scan. Your gender scan is next weekend right @Lexber ? We've also booked our private scan for next weekend, are you next week too @Minster2012 ? RLP is good 🙌🏼

@Justanothercyster always 😂 my worst parenting day involved 💩 was probably just before DD was 1, she had a horrible bug and diarrhoea like water. I went through 18 nappies in 14 hours and I remember ringing DH at work and having a absolute meltdown down over the amount of times I'd been shit on in one day 😂

Off to a baby shower tomorrow which will be strange. Bought the cutest neutral baby outfit which I felt completely out my comfort zone shopping for 😬 DD keeps asking when we can buy baby clothes and toys she's so excited. Keep saying "soon" 😬

Justanothercyster · 20/11/2021 16:14

@Minster2012 @Kirky658 we've had many a wee incident already, today's being particularly annoying. Put her new outfit on, just as I went to put the new nappy on she peed and it went alllll over the mat. No new outfit to be worn today...

@bez91 oh bless haha

@Kate105 oh that's good haha!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 20/11/2021 16:22

@Justanothercyster she obviously didn't approve of the outfit 😂🤣

@bez91 awwww that's so cute on rye wanting to get clothes, our scan is the week after (4th) so yours & @Lexber first! When's yours next weekend?

Lexber · 20/11/2021 16:51

Yeah @bez91 it's next Saturday 11am but we aren't revealing until Sunday afternoon with family (we will know at the scan!) I bought 2 balloons today ready and will call at the shop I got them from Saturday after the scan to have them filled with helium. I wasn't risking there not being 2 next week as one of the shops didn't have any the other had 3... so I paid for 2 today to be sure! Lol

I met my best mates 8 day old baby today - Eden Ivy ❤️ she is tiny and adorable and made me realise how small they are!! I had forgotten 🤣

Kate105 · 20/11/2021 18:09

If it’s any consolation @Justanothercyster I’m on my third outfit change today, as is James. Much vomit has ensued 😂

lucyrp · 20/11/2021 18:17

@Kate105 @Justanothercyster yesterday we had 7 changes of clothes by half 9😅 so much sick

Minster2012 · 20/11/2021 18:20

@Lexber that sounds so lovely for next week and definitely fantastic to be nice and organised in advance, ooo how exciting we've got the first genders coming up! Plus I love your friends choice of name, how gorgeous!

@Kate105 oh yes you forget the outfit changes for you!! That reminds me @Justanothercyster of a time I took DS to a baby playgroup when about 4 months & he'd just been weighed first so I had him in just a vest on my legs chilling out & all of a sudden he did the biggest poonami on my lap & it went out of his nappy through his vest and onto my leggings - you'd think that I'd be "in a safe place" at a baby group but actually no one offered to help or was nice they just were like "OMG look at her" I sent a message to DH saying "note to self, always put ME a spare set of clothes in the bag/car too!" 🙈🙊

Lexber · 20/11/2021 20:02

I've just uploaded my scans from 13 week to a nub group and unanimously they're all saying 💙💖
It'd be amazing if we have one of each as the girls would be over the moon as they both want one of each.

Obviously we don't mind what sexes they are as long as they're healthy but I said at the 12 week scan I thought it was one of each...

Kate105 · 21/11/2021 03:08

Not ideal @Minster2012 when you're alternating between 2 pairs of leggings because nothing else fits right now 😂

DKDK123 · 21/11/2021 04:30

@Minster2012 have your 10 days passed without being contacted about the nuchal screening? I was told 2 weeks ours would take, we've got an app now that all our tests go onto so she said to log onto there in 2 weeks and it'll say high or low. I'm not fussed about the results either way but of course I've logged in every day to peek and see if they're there even tho it's only been 2 days not 2 weeks 😂

I echo @lucyrp on the mam self sterilising ones, we didn't discover them till a good few months in with DS but once we did I switched all his over to mam as its so convenient just to pop them in the microwave. We also had the countertop hot steam steriliser but it wasn't so handy if you were away for a few nights as you had to cart this big monstrosity with you where as once we discovered the mam ones it made going away for a few days much easier.

@Justanothercyster they 100% time it deliberately 😂 either ruin a fresh nappy or wait till you've removed the old one to decide to wee or shit on you. Or their particular fav is just as you're about to leave the house they wait till you get to the door then drop a load. They're twisted little evil geniuses out for revenge for us removing them from their comfy womb 😂

@minster2012 what an unsupportive group, we've all been there so you'd think one would swoop in to clean up baby letting you get yourself cleaned up before all laughing it off and retelling horror stories of poonami incidents! At least that's what mother groups should be about, cant say I particularly gelled with anyone at my groups either it all felt rather cliquey and judgy rather than supportive, if you didn't want to go jogging with the buggy you weren't in with the 'in' crowd. I dropped a few groups rather quickly once realising that and ended up sticking to music groups and groups like that with structure that focused on interacting with baby rather than other mums. 🙄 Hoping to meet a nicer bunch this time round!

Lots of scans on the horizon, how exciting ladies 😁

bez91 · 21/11/2021 07:13

@Minster2012 mines a week today (28th) that's pleasant of others 🤦🏼‍♀️ yes spare clothes for everyone is the only way, not a way to travel light! That reminds me DD has started getting randomly travel sick, I need to set up a "sick box" for the car with change of clothes included, maybe a spare car seat too 😂

@DKDK123 twisted little evil geniuses 😂 I have to agree on the bodily excrement front
