Thanks @Gem176 👍 I'll assume it might or might not happen then. If it's the same person who will visit once the little guy is here that would be good. It would be the first time I ever saw the same person twice during this pregnancy. It's always someone different.

Gem176 · 03/11/2021 09:39

@feliznavidad2 my bloat was ridiculous and I lived in leggings from about 10 weeks until.... well..... I'm still living in them now and Katie is 9 weeks old 🤣🤣🤣

Anyone have any magic tips for getting little miss out of the car seat without waking her? She just looks so peaceful 🥰

@2020mission I mostly saw the same community midwife while pregnant but I got home on a 24 hour discharge after a c section so they wanted to do daily visits initially and just saw whoever had space that day to come out. Thankfully they dropped daily visits after day 3 because we were fine and I was sick of having to wait in each day on a visit 🙈 I've only ever seen the one HV and it was the same with my first. NHS Highland if that makes any difference.

Lexber · 03/11/2021 10:46

It's TWINS!!!!

We knew it, shocked and happy and shocked again...

2020mission · 03/11/2021 10:59

Ohh how exciting @Lexber! Do twins run in your family?

Lexber · 03/11/2021 11:02

Apparently so, but I don't recall any I know of so we are talking generations back! On both my sides and also on his too...

They have their own sacs and placentas so either I released 2 eggs and non identical or it split very early and could be identical. All new to me!!

That explains the sickness before the test!!

2020mission · 03/11/2021 11:03

Aww @Gem176 Katie is adorable. I watched a tv program called 'The Highland Midwife' a while back and could see a lot of differences between the maternity care. Everyone was getting an assigned midwife who would come out to their home for appointments which makes sense when you're that rural. Nothing like that in Glasgow, I always have to go to a hospital for my community midwife appointments and I get whoever is free at the time which is always someone different.

2020mission · 03/11/2021 11:06

@Lexber ahh lovely so it will be a surprise on whether they are identical or not! At my first scan the woman told me which ovary I released the egg from. I'm surprised they wouldn't have been able to tell if an egg had been released from both of your ovaries... or can it be 2 eggs from a single ovary? 😅 I'm not clued up enough. Do you have any other children?

Lexber · 03/11/2021 11:13

I will ask the midwife more when I see her shortly.
Yes I have two girls already 14 and 11....

It's a weird feeling of shock but not if that makes sense we just knew it was 2 and have joked about 2 for weeks!

Gem176 · 03/11/2021 12:06

@Lexber how fantastic 🥰 double the joy! My sister in law had twins 3 weeks before Katie, so adorable!

@2020mission thank you. We have a tiny community hospital 10 mins down the road (it's actually where I work) so had all my midwife appointments there when I was pregnant and only had home visits after Katie arrived. I think even here home visits are saved for the women with babies. Surely even in Glasgow it will be a hone visit when baby arrives?

2020mission · 03/11/2021 12:08

@Lexber should be easier to take care of the twins then since your girls are older 😅 hopefully they can help! It's a lovely surprise.

DKDK123 · 03/11/2021 13:27

Still able to wear skinny jeans @minster2012 I'm well impressed! 3kg, that's only 1.5kg per boob, blame them 😉 Actually bras are another thing I'm going to need to increase soon, they're getting a tad snug too.

@feliznavidad2 I had major bloat around 5/6weeks then it all settled down again and I actually felt slimmer than pre pregnancy (that's what probably didn't help the not feeling pregnant feeling after 6 weeks)

@2020mission I barely bought any maternity clothes with DS as I thought what a waste of money just for a few months. I didnt banknon my body not bouncing back straight away and post pregnancy really regretted not having a stash of comfy clothes to accommodate my new shape especially post c section when I couldn't stand the feel of anything on my stomach for months. I said this time round I'll get a few nice pieces that will do both pregnancy and 6 months after, but I'm def not going to be spending loads of money or anything. I wear leggings all the time at home anyway so that's quite easy but definitely need work trousers.

Aww @Gem176 Katie is gorgeous, I couldn't face waking her either she looks so peaceful.

@Lexber Twins!!!!! What an exciting scan that must have been! 😁 I'm sure your daughters will be a fab help tho, have you told them yet?

Lexber · 03/11/2021 13:50

They're top and bottom ❤️❤️

bez91 · 03/11/2021 14:05

@DKDK123 definitely over the bump, nothing is comfortable under apart from tracksuit bottoms! Even tights have to be over the bump. Give me a shout if you come across any decent work trousers! And visa versa. I won't be fitting in my normal ones next week for sure!

@Minster2012 chapped nipples? Have you been wafting them in the autumnal countryside? It's probably a thing though, my areolas are so puffy and sore and about tripled in size

@Gem176 no tips I'm afraid, just luck of the draw I think. My DD never stayed asleep when moved 😆

@Lexber wowzer how exciting! That's amazing congratulations! Lovely photos.

This is 12 weeks, maybe a bit of progesterone bloat but I'm worried how much of a heffer I'll be 😆

Justanothercyster · 03/11/2021 14:21

@Minster2012 I know!!!

@DKDK123 I got my work trousers over the bump from new look, not bad!

@Gem176 oh good! Love a bit of fanny dancing hahaha.
She. Is. Precious!

@2020mission fb marketplace was a life saver for maternity clothes, I've only spent £20 on a whole wardrobe plus £18 on the work trousers ages ago!

@Lexber ahhh twins! Congrats 💕💕

All this talk of bumps, I remember at 12 weeks I felt HUGE but looking back at the pics then vs now you couldn't even tell I was pg 🙈 it's funny how quickly your body changes! I've attached the 12 week pic and the most recent one I did.

Eeee! Congratulations @Lexber 🙌🏻 x

Gem176 · 03/11/2021 14:52

@DKDK123 I didn't, she was due a feed so she woke not long after this in a hanger rage 🤣 I bought a couple of maternity maxi dresses and tops, didn't bother with maternity bottoms, just bought leggings as I was working from home and I'm still in them now. It took a good few weeks for my tum to go down after my section and definitely needed soft clothing against it.

@bez91 I'm new to this whole baby-who-sleeps thing.... DD1 just didn't unless being held 🙈 Katie on the other hand sleeps anywhere and I'm just like shit how do I move her?!!
Such a cute bump already!!
Omg the areolas the size of dinner plates.... another pregnancy "joy" I'm not missing 🤣

@Justanothercyster I think so but I'm definitely biased! Meant to say to you ages ago (and anyone else going in to have babies) if you have a Tesco near you with a clothing bit they have these 2 pack of black Lycra knickers that look like hot pants. They are an absolute god send for post section (if you end up in that situation) and midwives on ward said they were the best underwear they had seen for post section as they are stretchy enough to come right up and over the incision, yet snug enough to give a bit of tummy support and hold maternity pads securely. They also don't roll down and are very comfy 🙌🏻

Minster2012 · 03/11/2021 15:20

@Lexber 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻twins amazing and yeah with older girls I think that's fab!!! Def explains the sickness!!

@feliznavidad2 I'm not sure how I can fit into them still with 3kg on but hey Ho 😂I think it is mainly boob as Def only have a teeny bit of bump during the day, nothing like that cute bump of @bez91's!! I've not done a bump shot yet. I'm too scared. I did one last pregnancy & it ended up being the day before it all went wrong so I'm kinda not wanting too 😩😬

@Gem176 don't you live remote? Can't you just leave her in the car??? We leave DS sleeping in the car outside our house & always have done, as have most of our friends, and in leans outside the house (which generations did before us) We live in the countryside though and someone out a pic of a pram outside a house on fb the other week and was vilified for it. But DH & I are firm believers in fresh air too

I loved the highland midwife. Are there any other baby programmes to recommend?? I'd love to watch some more now 😂

Gem176 · 03/11/2021 15:48

@Minster2012 yep live very remote/rural so would have no security concerns about leaving her in the car but by that point she had already been in the car seat well over an hour and I'd rather she slept stretched out flat..... blame the HV for giving me a massive lecture when she did a visit and Katie was asleep in the car seat. We had got home about 5 minutes before she arrived so hadn't quite got around to lifting her out and I still got the whole SIDS talk. I think this may be why I don't like my HV very much!
Millie was always asleep in her pram outside.... fresh air does them the world of good! It's just that I don't have a lean to here and the rain has been biblical recently so poor Katie hasn't got to sleep outside yet 😭 might have to give OH a wee project 🤣
One born every minute if you are feeling brave. I can only watch it when I'm not pregnant though 🙈

2020mission · 03/11/2021 15:58

@Justanothercyster 😂 I thought I was doing well just buying the tights and leggings but I've actually spent as much as you! Nice work getting those for that amount 👍

@bez91 I was about the same size at 12 weeks I'd say, but a lot of the time I only looked pregnant at the end of the day! I think when my stomach was empty it wasn't noticeable so the morning I just looked like I had a tiny bit of bloat.

I'm living in oversized jumpers lately which works well now it's freezing up in scotland! I've attached a quick snap of the bump size at 32 weeks.

Also while I'm here... I'm feeling at least 3 lots of baby hiccups daily lately and a little worried that's too often? Can anyone else shed any light on how often there's had them? He's head down but limbs at the front and I have a posterior placenta so I can feel a lot of movements. Maybe it's just because I can feel a lot.

lucyrp · 03/11/2021 16:30

Whilst we're on the subject this was me ag 12/13 weeks and I thought I was huge too 😂

@Lexber omg how exciting! 🥰🥰 out of curiosity have you had any of your covid jabs and if so which one ??

@bez91 lovely bump!

Minster2012 · 03/11/2021 16:39

Ah ok yeah @Gem176 that makes sense. I think I'm a bit more relaxed about it though we have a car seat that tilts backwards (& also twists to the door, best thing we ever bought, DS still in it now at over 3) as DS's first journey back from my mates house of birth to ours was 1.5 hours & it ended up being torrential rain so the midwives told us it was ok to just stop once for 10 mins & that actually past 4 weeks its not so risky but it's not ideal! I think I've seen every one born, they haven't done any for ages have they? And I watched the emma Willis ones in lockdown

@2020mission you look fab loving the big jumpers, I think I'll just live in those full stop 😂😂

Wafting my nipples in the autumnal countryside air @bez91 my nips are FIRMLY covered thank you very much. It's Been lashing it down today 😩

Minster2012 · 03/11/2021 16:40

I might need to do a bump shot to see what it's like! Might do one tomorrow

Justanothercyster · 03/11/2021 16:47

Finally, 12 weeks and latest one a couple weeks ago
