I was going to ask about this, do you all have 25 week appointments?

I called St Thomas's hospital, as I'd had nothing through, and they said they don't do them anymore. My 16 week one was a quick 5 min phone call. My next appointment is at 29 weeks. So nothing (except 12 and 20 week scans) between 10 weeks and 29 weeks. Seems a loonnng time. St Thomas's has been pretty terrible to date though, just I see a few of you mentioning 25 week appointments

spttc · 13/10/2021 11:24

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'm going private care. So that's why I have so many scans. For me I had 9,12,16,20,24 and I'll have one every 2 weeks from 28 weeks so ....28, 30,32,34,36,38,40 (birth). I'm not sure what the usual schedule is.

thecapitalsunited · 13/10/2021 11:35

@expectinglittlebear Lately my movements been on each side. My midwife used her magic xray hands to tell me that baby is currently transverse and lying inside like it's in a hammock. She said it was a very common position at this stage. I guess I'm feeling feet on one side and hands/elbows/shoulders on the other. When I've had kicks to the front they've felt a lot stronger but I think that's probably because there is more room top to bottom than side to side.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I had my 25 week appointment yesterday. Urine checked for protein, blood pressure checked, then baby's position and heartbeat checked. I didn't have the tape measure treatment because it's even less accurate on someone of my BMI. I'm booked in for a growth scan at 32 weeks instead. My next appointments are always booked in while I'm at an appointment so I know when I'm getting my 28 week appointment which for me will be at 29 weeks because I'm visiting my mum at 28 weeks.

SouthwestSis · 13/10/2021 13:47

I would contact your midwife @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and ask to be seen to have your blood pressure and urine checked before 29 weeks.

BobbleWobble1 · 13/10/2021 16:03

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 in my area, first timers still get a 25 week appointment. They drop it for second timers so I've had 16 weeks and will have 28 weeks. My 16 week appointment was a proper face to face appointment though.

sociallydistained · 13/10/2021 17:54

I was getting worried about not feeling baby as much these past few days compared to last week. I think my baby is currently in breech position too as feel lower down or inside.

I’m feeling more alive today so that’s good I honestly thought I was back to the first trimester the past few days. I’ve done exercise and lots of walking today so im impressed with myself. Hoping to when I lie down later I get some kicks!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 13/10/2021 18:06

Thanks so much everyone. I called and they def won't see me until 29 weeks. A bit worried because I have low Papp A so they were meant to be monitoring my growth 🤷‍♀️ I'll get a private scan and placental Doppler in a couple weeks I reckon.

@sociallydistained glad you're feeling better! Me too on the movements - all week kicking like mad, last day or two def much subtler. Figuring maybe a growth spurt or maybe just changed position, but it is worrying

Hope everyone's doing well and feeling good now

DoctorBambino · 13/10/2021 18:46

I've had the same with an apparent reduction in movement yesterday and day before but back to lots of kicking today which has been really reassuring! I've read that they still have lots of room up until 28 weeks so can often be harder to pick up movement. I've also been crazy busy with work and think that makes it harder to notice the movement when it's subtle.

I'm meant to book at 25 week appointment with my GP apparently.. better get on that seeing as I'm 24+2 today! I'm also a low papp-a person so will have a growth scan at 28 weeks. Hopefully all will be OK! How low was your papp-a @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7? Mine was 0.22

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 13/10/2021 21:42

@expectinglittlebear and @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I am feeling lots of kicks now, all over the place at different times. Most often they are low down in my abdomen/cervix, but also at the side and sometimes up above, so she's definitely doing gymnastics in there and changing positions.

In Wales, I have a 25 week midwife appointment next week and then routine appts every 3 weeks until baby's born. As I have fibroids I'm also booked in for extra growth scans at 30, 34 and 37 weeks, as they may make the midwifery growth measurements slightly inaccurate.

MamaDaria · 14/10/2021 08:01

I also had a 25 week appointment as a first time mother. Seems strange to me that each midwifery unit does things differently even though all nhs.

My girl is generally moving a lot, at different times of the day. This makes it so hard to see a pattern to her movements, i guess within 28week there should be some pattern. Yesterday I did feel she wasn't moving much in the evening, which was worrying, to then feeling her doing gymnastics while I'm trying to fall asleep.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 14/10/2021 08:05

@DoctorBambino and @Littlemiss41andfabulous yep after a quiet day I went to bed and got loads of kicks. It's disconcerting but like you say, from the subtleness of the movements last couple days, I think he just moved position or something. Always something to worry about!

@DoctorBambino mine was 0.4. I was told it rarely causes problems but they need to do more bump measurements and blood pressure checks. I just take aspirin each night, is that what you're doing also?

expectinglittlebear · 14/10/2021 08:53

Ahhh okay that's good to know it isn't just me then!

I have my 25 week appointment with the midwife next Tuesday when I will be 25+2. I think they do the same as the 16 week one, so urine, blood pressure, baby heartbeat etc. But I think they also measure the bump and plot on a growth chart I think!

My 25 week midwife appointment is on Monday. Straight after the dentist 😩 Not been to the dentist since before Covid and know I need work done… at least it’ll be free 😬

I thought it was having Anti D injection at the next appointment but I read my text and it says 28 weeks so will ask about booking that.
I am going to bring up that I want a homebirth and see how that goes. Have looked into the homebirth team for my area and am feeling positive about it 🤞🏼

Woke up to kicks this morning. I think baby has shifted. Glad I’m not alone In worries about movement even though it’s fairly early days!

DoctorBambino · 14/10/2021 11:23

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 no my trust don't seem to recommend asprin, not sure why as it seems quite common for low papp a. I considered taking it anyway but decided not to in the end. I just have regular growth scans from 28 weeks (every 4 or 2 weeks I think depending on growth).

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 14/10/2021 12:04

@sociallydistained ahh no hopefully you don't need much doing at the dentist!

Sounds like a few of us have experienced worries about movements, and then baby has kicked again a day or two later.

@DoctorBambino I guess every trust is different. Regular scans every month or so sounds good though

expectinglittlebear · 14/10/2021 13:13

Yeah it is worrying at times, but glad it seems to be normal among all of us! She will always be quite active during the week, and then the weekends I barely feel anything, even after the whole laying down drinking a cold drink thing - so most weekends I panic, and then she is back to her usual self on Mondays! I don't know if it is just coincidence, or if its because my routine is different at the weekends.. not sure, but she definitely likes worrying me!

Movements wise i thought I had reduced movements but I think baby has moved as I’m now getting kicked very low down or in the bum which is new. They don’t feel as strong as the kicks around my belly button.

I have my 25 week appointment on Wednesday but haven’t had anything through on the whopping jab yet so will ask then.

We’ve booked for face to face NCT classes, fingers crossed they stay that way otherwise it’ll be quite expensive compared to what’s out there on zoom.

Trinacham · 18/10/2021 07:31

Has anyone felt a head or a bottom poking out yet? Baby seems to prefer my right side and I will get a hard lump appear at my waist! It is definitely one end of him, but no idea which, thinking head as it feels so solid! I'll usually get it at least once a day when I'm resting. I usually feel a shifting then it gradually appears.

Tangfastic91 · 18/10/2021 09:17

@Trinacham no distinct body parts yet. Not sure I would know which if it did happen. Midwives are magic, 2 second bump exam and they know exactly how baby is positioned! Kicks are definitely getting stronger though and I can now see general movement as a kind of ripple if I look super closely.

Hope everyone is getting on OK :)

DoctorBambino · 18/10/2021 10:10

Yes I get this all the time @Trinacham! Can't tell if it is head, back or bum but always on my right side. I always get hubby to have a feel when this happens!

Trinacham · 18/10/2021 10:34

@Tangfastic91 @DoctorBambino I have my 25 week appointment on Thursday so I'll ask my midwife if she knows what it'll be. No doubt it won't be there when I go for my appointment! I definitely seem to know baby's routine. He'll have a shift around when I wake up in the morning (usually when the hard lump appears!) and always kicks a lot when I get into bed. Lots of kicking and moving during the day too. After having all the bleeding in my first trimester, and then covid, it is so reassuring.Smile

sociallydistained · 18/10/2021 12:25

Just back from 25 week appointment. Short and sweet as bloods are for 28 weeks,… and an anti-D injection for me! Heard the heartbeat again 💓

I am officially being referred to the homebirth team and they will take over my care from this point. I am really excited about this! Fortunately the homebirth team in my area is amazing and I have a couple of people who were cared for by them who had amazing births!

expectinglittlebear · 18/10/2021 12:43

@sociallydistained Aww glad all was well! Hope the dentist wasn't too bad either! Did they plot you on the growth chart on that appointment? If so, do you know what centile baby is? I have noticed on my online notes it now shows a fundal growth chart which I think will be plotted on as of my 25 week appointment tomorrow.

OP posts:
sociallydistained · 18/10/2021 14:39

No, nothing about growth as of yet! For me anyway.

The dentist was better than expected, thank you! Basically two small chips to tooth where filling is so in going to have it filled back in. I honestly thought it would be more than that and a crown at least… but guess when the only appointment I could get is? The day before my due date. I’m rolling with it 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

EsseKey · 18/10/2021 16:00

Hello everyone!

I got my 25 weeks appointment last Friday. As usual, very quick and nothing special about it.
I mean, I listened to the heartbeat which is always so nice, but nothing new. They took urine and blood pressure, she said no need yet to weigh me because "I am nice and slim" (honestly, I just think she doesn't know how I was before pregnancy!sounded like a joke!) and they will start taking weight and bump measurements from next time. I don't know why they don't start now, it really costs nothing and the charts start from 24 weeks so it should be relatively easy...? never mind...

The midwife said that according to my last blood tests my baby is also going to have an Rh- blood group, so I won't receive the Anti-D injection by default but they will keep checking my blood to make sure that I am not making anti-D antibodies for any reason.
Has anyone discussed birthing plan yet? My midwife didn't mention anything about that yet and I totally forgot to ask! (I don't know how, it was literally 1 of the 2 questions I had for her ahah)
