I've felt a round lumpy bit on my left side but also didn't know if it was a bum or head.

I managed to video my bump moving for DH who keeps missing it because he's always glued to his bloody phone. Baby seems to have gone off him and now only wriggles in response to his voice instead of kicking.

We've also got the ball rolling on nurseries this week. Have two more to see next week but the one we saw on Friday was absolutely amazing but eyewateringly expensive. But they all are around here!

sociallydistained · 18/10/2021 19:16

@EsseKey I am dreading being weighed 😱 I don’t think birth plans get discussed at all until 34 weeks!

I wonder how different it’ll be switching to my new midwife with the home birth team. My friend had them as said the continuity of care was amazing and they discuss everything all along so I am excited to meet my new midwife but hope I’m not getting my hopes up! … I am having the 28 week check with the same midwife as I’m having my anti D injection there and then being passed over (hopefully, all being well!)

EsseKey · 18/10/2021 19:21

@sociallydistained i hope all goes well with the transition to the home birth team!!

Ah I thought we were supposed to make birthing plans a bit earlier... 😱 I will try and mention it next time I see my midwife just to make sure!

Alle1991 · 19/10/2021 09:52

Hi girls, Just catching up on the messages. For some reason the notifications stopped again. Glad your all doing well ☺️
Had my 25 wk midwife app yesterday, all good. Heard baby’s heartbeat and she measured my bump. Got our pram/travel system and started buying clothes. Hoping to get bigger bits in the Black Friday sales.

Has anyone had their flu jab yet? Not heard anything from my doctors and my midwife didn’t mention it (I forgot to ask)

spttc · 19/10/2021 11:00

@Alle1991 I had my flu jab was fine. Not even a sore arm. Which pram/travel system did you go for. We still need to get ours 🙈🙈🙈

Havnt been on here in ages either Iv just been si busy and then so tired because I'm so busy (and 25 weeks pregnant) 😂😂 anyone else finding that....I feel I need a lot of recovery if I have a very busy few days. we finally got the home office which will be the nursery cleared out over the weekend and ordered wallpaper etc, got drawers etc for my ikea pax that's going in there, and a changing table in ikea too - the gulliver. It's solid wood and really neat (I'm trying to keep the room as open & spaceous as possible) so happy to have gotten those.

Trinacham · 19/10/2021 11:31

I was going to get my flu jab at my 20 week scan as suggested by midwife but the immunization nurse wasn't there on the day. I'm booked in for this Thursday at the pharmacy instead. A little nervous as I've never had it before and I know some people have bad reactions.. but I've had flu before and I know it's not something I want to have in pregnancy - Covid was nothing on flu for me!

Baby boy's nursery has been painted today and tomorrow. It's looking like I pictured it 😍 can't wait to get all his stuff in there once it's finished. Carpets and blind fitting booked. Nothing had been changed since before we moved in 6 years ago so the room was well in need of doing up!

EsseKey · 19/10/2021 11:33

@Alle1991 I didn't wait for my GP or midwife to contact me about the flu jab, I just booked it at a local pharmacy and told them I was covered by NHS. Much faster this way!
I am also curious to know what travel system you went to! We have a couple ideas but waiting to go to a baby show before making the purchase. Need to start thinking about buying the crib and other stuff too 😅

Tangfastic91 · 19/10/2021 11:45

A warning to those thinking of buying cots from IKEA.. I've been checking stock for a couple of months and there appears to be a chronic shortage. You may want to consider other retailers if wanting to get it sorted soon.

I also had a flu jab at the pharmacy. I asked if they needed proof of pregnancy but they didn't want to see anything. Relatively painless and no side effects for me - first time I've ever had it so was apprehensive.

Scottishgal85 · 19/10/2021 12:01

Hi all, hope everyone is keeping well.
I'm 28 weeks tomorrow Shock but still not had my flu jag yet. I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and book it myself.
I've got another scan next week (I get more as we're IVF) and I'm booked in to get my whooping cough then too, so I might hold off and ask the nurses there.

We bought our pram, crib, cot etc from a wee independent baby shop near us. They price match with everything online anyway, so it didn't work out any more expensive.
We gone with an i-candy pram and buggy system. Seems to get good reviews and is ideal for going out walking, which I'm hoping to do a lot of, weather permitting Hmm

expectinglittlebear · 19/10/2021 15:31

Just had my 25 week appointment and all well, got to listen to baby's heartbeat again which was lovely - midwife also seems to think baby is head down, not breech like I thought!

I haven't had my flu jab yet - I spoke to the midwife about this the other week and she said to contact the GP, so I do that... then the GP tells me that I am not eligible yet (made it very clear I am pregnant and therefore in fact am eligible) and she outright said no and that they are only doing over 65's at the moment and to call back at the end of October... told the midwife this today and she rolled her eyes, apparently the GP trust I am under are useless when it comes to this and so she has advised me to go to a pharmacy instead, so I am going to book an appointment in at Boots for later this week I think!

Our travel system has come too! Haven't seen it yet as my parents have kindly bought it for us for an early Christmas present - it came yesterday though so we are popping over there at the weekend to have a look! We went with the Ickle Bubba Stomp V2 All-In-One Travel System in the end. I have heard very good things about the Stomp, so I compared the differences between the V2, V3 & V4 stomp models, and there aren't much differences - apart from a huge difference in price! So we went with the V2 in the end.

@Tangfastic91 I was just about to post this as well. Have a nice day out to Ikea planned with my mum but we might have to have a plan B. I can't see any stock locally of any of the cots they sell and none of them are available for delivery. I know they've been having stock shortages of loads of stuff but no cots!

I can't believe some of your GPs are messing you around with flu jabs. My GP got in touch weeks ago asking me to book an appointment and I had it done in September. GPs get money for every flu jab they do so I would just get it done at the pharmacy and your GP can go swivel when it comes to that additional funding.

I've ordered the curtains, wall stickers and a rug for the nursery but I can't start work in there until mid-November because DH is busy with work but he gets things done quickly so hoping to have the carpet down in there some time in December. We'll still use it as our guest room until the baby moves into it when we'll move the guest bed into a smaller room.

spttc · 19/10/2021 17:10

@expectinglittlebear I got mine in a pharmacy too. Quicker and easier! 👌👌 glad all is well

sociallydistained · 19/10/2021 19:19

I booked via Lloyds pharmacy and had mine weeks ago. Very straight forward. Would recommend just looking up appointments at a local pharmacy and getting it done.

BobbleWobble1 · 19/10/2021 21:22

Glad all the appointments went well. Had my 28 week one today. Baby is lying transverse which I already suspected but it means that the fundal height reads less so now I need to go for a growth scan. I'm not worried and neither is the midwife really but obviously she needs to send me. I'm petite build anyway which doesn't allow much reserve for babies in awkward positions! I actually think I was sent for exactly the same reason at the same point in my last pregnancy if my memory serves me right! But other than that all was fine. Have my whooping cough on Thursday and booked for covid booster and flu in a couple of weeks as I'm NHS.

It's nice that some of you are starting to buy the big bits and get decorating done. I have literally no idea where this baby is going to go. I'm starting on some serious clearing out and reorganising as we just have so much stuff we don't need. I'm definitely a lot more practical this time around but still couldn't resist buying some little outfits in the sales at the weekend.

EsseKey · 19/10/2021 23:37

Hello everyone... I won another trip to a&e but "thanks" to the pregnancy I have been sent to labour ward rather than general a&e... I had a horrible back pain on and off all day, but only on on side and didn't feel at all like something related to the pregancy. Turns out I might have kidney stones 🙄 now I am extra bored waiting for a doctor to see me while I have been given some pain relief drugs... At least I have a comfortable bed! 😥 And they checked the baby, at least it seems that she is doing ok in there!
But I am sharing the room with 2 women in labour... Kind of scary thinking that will be me in a few months time 😱

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 20/10/2021 07:59

Oh gosh @EsseKey hope you're feeling better and released from hospital soon!

Can I ask a (really shallow) question - do any of you have mottled reddening skin on your bump? I've had a growth spurt I think (people keep telling me I'm a lot bigger this week in work 🙄), my stomach is feeling v uncomfortable and tight also, and my skin is reddening. Is this the start of stretch marks? Im slathering myself in cream and oil. But any tips?

thecapitalsunited · 20/10/2021 08:03

@EsseKey I hope you're ok this morning - I know kidney stones can be horrendously painful.

EsseKey · 20/10/2021 09:00

Thanks ladies @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @thecapitalsunited
In the end it looks more like kidney infection than kidney stones, similar symptoms but they did some exams and this is what they said. Now it's just antibiotics and paracetamol and wait for it to improve...😥
@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 i had something similar a few weeks back (when bump started to be more visible), i just used oil often and it helped with the uncomfortable feeling of the skin stretching. And so far no stretch marks... 🤞

Me and my partner (both in one bedroom flats) we’re supposed to move in together and have space for our baby and us as a family but it’s just not happening so I have decided to live in my flat for the birth (took the pressure off immensely and I’ve relaxed into the idea now) but basically have no room! I have a few days off next week so going to have my second major clear out and sort out. I’m going to tell my partner this weekend we need to go and get some storage solutions! Lol
Alle1991 · 20/10/2021 17:25

@EsseKey hope your feeling better and the antibiotics are starting to kick in.

It’s mad reading all our comments about buying bits and decorating rooms when it only feels like a few weeks ago this thread started (might feel longer for other 😂)

We went for the sliver cross pioneer rose gold, got about £400 off using a discount code from Emma’s diary, if you haven’t looked on there it has lots of good deals.

Got my flu jab booked tomorrow at the doctors

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/10/2021 09:03

@EsseKey hope the antibiotics kick in soon and you're feeling better. Kidney infections are nasty.

Well the drum tight feeling has gone, my stomach is bigger, and I have red marks all over it 😱 with 90% of women getting stretch marks I suppose I was naive to think cream would stop it 😂

EsseKey · 21/10/2021 09:40

@Alle1991 @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thanks ladies. I am feeling 100 times better today, and I am back at work - I work from home so I can take as many breaks as I need to lie down, and I need it since I noticed that it feels a bit uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time! At least my baby girl seems not to mind too much the medications, she is in there doing cartwheels at the moment ahahah

as I was feeling better my partner came home earlier yesterday after work, and he took me buying the crib 🥰 we wanted a co-sleep type of crib but also we were looking into second hand options...we found a second hand but basically new one so we just bought it! it's not my favourite design (Chicco Next2me elegance), but at the same time the crib is just used for a few months so that's not a huge problem eheheh

Kayl23 · 24/10/2021 18:06

Hey ladies! Just wondering what everyone is like with baby movement at the min? I'm almost 27 weeks and baby still has no regular pattern - some days it's a lot and other days like today I've barely felt him. I seem to be feeling kicks in all sorts of different places too! I do have an anterior placenta so I know this will dull movements but it's just hard not to worry isn't it

Tangfastic91 · 25/10/2021 07:09

@Kayl23 I think it's around 28 weeks there is a pattern so bub still has time. Different story for me as baby has been in a pretty clear routine since about 22 weeks, but then I have a posterior placenta so it's easier to feel. I'm sure it's normal for everyone to be different :)

DH still can't really feel the kicks, even though we can see my stomach jumping about. I guess you have to feel at the exact spot and it's hard for me to pinpoint exactly where they are. I plan to start using a count kicks app from next week if anyone has any recommendations for a good one???

SouthwestSis · 25/10/2021 07:56

I'm 27 weeks today and still no definite pattern, just a tendency for more movements in the late afternoon and evening, although I never know of I just notice them more then as I'm less busy/finished at work.
Got my flu jab sorted this weekend and was gifted lots of clothes from the MiL which are lovely but we had so many second hand clothes already!
