@feb2022, I am too an anxious worried, but I am still planning on getting my vaccination this weekend. My reasons: my good friend is an ICU pharmacist and she has 2-3 pregnant women on ICU every week with covid, some very sad stories. I also went to Q&A with a consultant obstetrician who is a big proponent of women getting vaccinated because she has seen the devastation it can cause (stillbirths and actual deaths of mothers themselves), she said, there's no clear pharmacological reason why the vaccine (eg Pfizer) would be dangerous. It stays in the body for approx 12 hours, encourages your body to produce antibodies which then pass onto the baby. Finally, viral infections in pregnancy are associated with a number of mental health disorders, such as autism, schizophrenia, etc. For these reasons, I am encouraged to get it, but I totally understand your need to protect yourself and the baby, so do your own research and don't let people pester you into it without due diligence.

Trinacham · 28/07/2021 17:17

Another one here who hasn't had the vaccine. I don't plan to before baby arrives. If I was more at risk of Covid (ie worked in hospital or face to face with the public), I think I would, but it's the unknown with side effects that worries me (I've seen a few close people had bad and long lasting side effects, but with the AZ specifically). It's a personal choice and everyone should be able to choose for themselves what they feel comfortable with. I've had people telling me not to get it and people telling me I should be. It's really not anyone's place to say either way!!

Trinacham · 28/07/2021 17:21

@Rmw99 got my results today (5 days after screening). 1 in 5905 chance of DS, low risk. Thought I'd let you know if it reassures you in any way, as you had a very similar NT measurement to me.Smile

Rmw99 · 28/07/2021 17:32

@Trinacham amazing thank you for letting me know. Gives me lots reassurance. Has your midwife said anything about you not having the vaccination? I really don't want it done but also worried about later on in the year when it will most probably be bad again. My midwife just said to me " if you don't want it don't get it" and sent me on my way x

Trinacham · 28/07/2021 17:58

@Rmw99 my midwife wouldn't say too much. She said they couldn't say much as there's just not enough data out there yet to say that it's safe (or unsafe). She asked what were my thoughts. I said I wouldn't be having it in the first trimester and wasn't going to rush into having it after that. She seemed pleased I'd said that and said she thought it was a sensible decision.
It's such a hard thing because they can't really advise us either way!

Jorun · 28/07/2021 19:30

well actually, I had three midwifes pushing it/strongly recommending, but then again, I am in a big city which is also a hotspot...maybe that's why

Sunshine8888 · 28/07/2021 19:33

I have done a lot of reading and have booked my first vaccine for next weekend. There is actual data for women catching covid in third trimester, I’ve already had one premature baby and don’t fancy the increased risk! I will be 14 weeks so hopefully most of the development of baby is done and 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 it will be ok

Trinacham · 28/07/2021 19:48

@Jorun I definitely think it makes sense for people to make their own risk assessment based upon their own location, job role, and any other underlying conditions they may have already. There is no right or wrong. Most people will be fine getting vaccinated and too most people who catch Covid will also be fine.

CaramelWaferAndTea · 28/07/2021 20:07

Thanks for all the reassurance about using the baby on board badge. I’ll get back on it.

I’ve had both vaccines before conception as I was offered early by GP. Not sure what I would have done otherwise but I do know someone from my previous NCT group went to ITU and was really unwell in her pregnancy recently. Tbh I’d probably rather anything than that. Difficult to know though, good luck deciding.

Jorun · 28/07/2021 20:15

@Trinacham, absolutely. Just as with life in general..like, everyone knows about the harms of smoking (if they don't what stone are they living under?Shock), yet people choose to smoke, and it's up to them.

Slightly off topic, has anyone bought any pregnancy related books yet? I have and it just feels so premature! Blush

CNMP · 28/07/2021 23:09

I thought I’d share what I’m doing re covid vaccine because I seem to have done a massive u turn haha. I was only offered my vaccine at the start of June but always said I wouldn’t have because of how it could mess up cycles and not knowing if it would effect fertility.
But since becoming pregnant, I have made the decision to have it after 13 weeks. I’m currently shielding at home and it’s really getting me down - just two weeks to go till I’ll get my first vaccine!
My main concern is the risk later on in pregnancy and the lack of ventilation available to heavily pregnant women. I’ve based my decision on having a winter baby and I just feel cases are only going to spike later in the year.

But everyone has their own choice to make and no one can make it for you. I spoke to my dr who’s own daughter had the vaccine at 13weeks pregnant and recently had her happy, healthy daughter.
Know it’s not a decision you have to make right away either, thankfully with drop centres available you could pick and choose when it’s right for you xxx

Lowkeyloopy · 28/07/2021 23:17

Hi all, thought I’d chip in about the vaccine. My friend works as a doctor and had two Astra Zeneca jabs while she was pregnant (the first before the data came out on Pfizer and Moderna). She was very worried but her little boy was born at the weekend at a healthy 8lb and he couldn’t be more perfect Smile

Got my 12 week scan on Friday and if all is well I’ll book to get my first jab around 14 weeks I think.

feb2022 · 29/07/2021 09:37

Omg ladies!
My head hurts today! Feels like it's in my ear too I feel completely rotten, I've been sick too which was a great start to my day... I just don't know how I'm going to deal with 2 tantrum machines all day feeling like utter shite!
😅

decafforme · 29/07/2021 09:47

Hi ladies,

Could I join please, was
On the other thread but not sure if it ended.
Am 13 weeks still not feeling great- hope it passes soon. I had my second jab this week at 12+5.

feb2022 · 29/07/2021 10:40

@decafforme hey! I remember your username off the last thread!
Have you had your 12 week scan yet?
I can't wait for mine

babyD20 · 29/07/2021 11:00

Hi all I just had my 12 week can! Little bubba due feb 6th!

becarefuloutthere · 29/07/2021 11:13

@babyD20 how wonderful 🥰

feb2022 · 29/07/2021 11:18

@babyD20 ohh I love seeing these growing bubba's

Sunshine8888 · 29/07/2021 13:06

So nice to be at the end of the first trimester!

After even more reading and thought, I’ve now brought my vaccine forward another week and having it on Sunday at 13 weeks! I’m also fed up of shielding and want to be able to have some sort of social life before the baby arrives!

StephanieJ · 29/07/2021 14:35

I was offered my second covid vaccine (Pfizer) and after speaking to midwife (unfortunately very unhelpful and just said 'I can't tell you anything it's your choice). I went along to have it and when they asked about pregnancy I said I was 8 weeks pregnant and they refused to do it now until after 12 weeks. My worry is by that point I'll be 14 weeks between my first and second. Will this have any impact?

Jorun · 29/07/2021 15:51

@StephanieJ, this is as far as I am aware wrong advice, but some vaccination centres are not up to date with the latest regarding pregnancy. Have a look at this: www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/coronavirus-covid-19-pregnancy-and-womens-health/, might be useful

jody97xo · 29/07/2021 16:13

Had my first scan yesterday, feels like such a long time waiting until 12 weeks! Honestly the most amazing feeling seeing our little bub wriggling on the screen! My baby was upside down for our scan photo, anyone else had that before? I’m questioning everything with it being my first time! Due date 5th Feb ❤️

Jorun · 29/07/2021 16:18

@jody97xo, congrats! Yes, mine was doing a headstand, then fell asleep after a vigorous jiggle of my tummy with a scan probe.

becarefuloutthere · 29/07/2021 17:14

@Jorun thanks for posting that, really useful information!
@jody97xo lovely photos! My scans not until the 11th August.

Jordanx · 29/07/2021 17:14

Hope you don't mind me jumping on this post Smile - I'm due 10th February with 2nd baby 10 year age gap Shock. This is our rainbow baby after loosing twin earlier this year. Everything is perfect so far 12 weeks today. Nausea is wild settled with tablets for a while but seems to be back with a vengeance. Hoping it stops soon!

Hope everyone's pregnancies are going well. So exciting to finally speak to other pregnant ladies Smile
