@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 omg I'm actually delighted to hear that 😅🙌🏼 I have a cup every morning and it has never failed me 😅 actually does the opposite sometimes when I have another during the day (pre pregnancy) when out and about and makes me need to go at an awkward time

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/07/2021 11:05

@choccrumpet I'm shocked, I've been doing everything else, but within 30 mins of the coffee today it all changed 😂🙈

Erinrose82 · 17/07/2021 11:08

I hate coffee but .. I’ll give that go ! Anything to feel not 600lbs ! Xx

Nearly 12 weeks now and just been told I have Strep B. Only found out because I had a cervical swab to investigate my bleeding (thankfully only had 2 bleeds and both a few weeks ago). So glad I had those swabs as Streb B is something that is harmless to the mother (1 in 4 of us!), but poses a danger to baby at birth. My SIL actually had it when she had my Nephew and it made him poorly. As they've found it in me, I will be having an antibiotics via IV during labour, to stop it transmitting to baby.

As it is so common, there is a home test you can get, if anyone is worried at all. I think it is well worth it testing, knowing how poorly my Nephew was. Thought it worth informing people as I would never have known about Strep B before and 25% of women is not a small number at all!

Just a comment on that, I did the home test and it came back negative. However I did actually have it at the time of the birth and my son did get sick.

Strep B is transient and hard to actually diagnose accurately and at the right time which is the main reason it's done by the NHS in the lead up to the birth.

It's a really shit thing.

whistlers · 17/07/2021 21:13

*main reason it's NOT done by the nhs...

Peachi82 · 17/07/2021 22:01

How are you all doing in the heat?
I've not been outside today...

Awful! Literally 11 weeks pregnant and I can't stand it, usually I love the heat but I just couldn't take it today. God knows what it would be like being heavily pregnant in this heat
Skybooks · 17/07/2021 22:11

Been under the gazebo and in DS1 paddlepool all afternoon.

Scan went well this morning measuring 10w1day and saw a very wriggly bean

@Trinacham
I had that in a previous pregnancy. No point testing now though because you might not have it by the time you go into labour , if its another 6 months off , it may have well have gone. This time I have found out I have HPV 🙄.... the joys!
Seriously try not to worry( i know its hard given your poorly nephew) they will give you IV anti biotics and you may have to stay in a few days so they can give the baby anti biotics as a precaution but aa your body will change , it may have cleared up by feb x

Sleepyquest · 18/07/2021 07:20

@babyD20 I specifically tried to get pregnant when I did so I wouldn't have to experience a heatwave in trimester 3! Must be absolutely awful.

Trinacham · 18/07/2021 09:08

@MgW1 ah, well they have said I be having the antibiotics during labour, because I tested positive now, so I guess they would treat anyone who tests positive now as a precaution. Only suggested it is of interest or concern to anyone.
Thank you for your reassuring words.

Hello Everyone!

This is my first post and I’m expecting my first baby in February (although mid wife has predicted end of Jan but I have polycystic ovaries so think it will be Feb.) I think I’m 10 weeks. I’m looking for a bit of advice, I noticed a few people mentioning early scans - how do you get these? I’ve not had many symptoms and I know I’m at a higher risk of miscarriage with polycystic ovaries. I’ve only had one telephone call with a midwife which lasted about 40 mins and she just read off a questionnaire pretty much. Feel a bit in the dark and any advice with how you go about getting extra tests/scans would be appreciated.

Charlotte5190 · 18/07/2021 09:40

Also debating whether to get my second dose of the vaccine sooner because the numbers are going up and I have a christening next week. I’m currently booked in end of August which would be second trimester but debating whether to do it sooner. I got my first before I knew I was pregnant at about 2 weeks. Has anyone had both in first trimester or waiting until second?

Trinacham · 18/07/2021 09:50

@Charlotte5190 I've had one early scan done privately (company called Window to the Womb, who have nationwide clinics) and one NHS scan due to bleeding. I don't know for sure but I think you would only get an NHS scan for concerns from bleeding or pain. My private scan cost £60.

Charlotte5190 · 18/07/2021 09:56

Thank you. Just found a window to the womb really close to me :)

choccrumpet · 18/07/2021 10:04

@Charlotte5190 welcome! I also had my private scan with window to the womb and they were really good. Vaccine wise I'm due my second soon so will end up having both in 1st trimester, as soon as I possibly can.

overtherainbo · 18/07/2021 10:35

I'm also having a scan by window to the womb today, they've done 2 earlier in my pregnancy too. I'm so scared for this one, I just have a feeling something is wrong 🤢

miniGmummy · 18/07/2021 12:23

@overtherainbo I hope your scan goes well x

Peachi82 · 18/07/2021 14:11

Overtherainbo, good luck with your scan!

I had 2 NHS scans because of the miscarriage earlier this year. We have a support/bereavement midwife at our side and she's been sorting them out for us.
With my son, I only had the two NHS scans (12 and 20 weeks).

We don't know yet if my boyfriend will be able to attend the 12 weeks scan, so we are maybe having a private one around this time, just for him to bond.

overtherainbo · 18/07/2021 14:14

@Peachi82 I went to a nhs scan 2 weeks ago and my partner could go, I've been told he can on the 12 too for support. Definitely ask your midwife or hospital x

Thank you for the good luck wishes, half hour to go🤢

miniGmummy · 18/07/2021 14:25

@Peachi82 I had my 12 week last week (having another tomorrow as I was a bit early, thanks pcos) My husband came to the scan, also had 1 private and 1 at the EPU and hubby could also be present there too. Hope that helps x

Peachi82 · 18/07/2021 14:34

Oh, sorry, I should have clarified. Of course he is allowed to attend, but we don't have child care on a Friday (for when the scan is scheduled) and obviously he is working. Children are still not allowed at the scan, so I am just hoping his employer lets him work from home this day, so he can look after our son.
I could ask Nursery to book him in for the Friday, but a couple of days after the scan, I want to fly to see my mum and ideally want to isolate us as much as possible before the flight, so there is no risk of us bei ging Covid to my mum. We have been very lucky with our Nursery so far that there was no case throughout all the pandemic, but I don't really want to count on this, especially now that cases are rising massively.

Not as easy.......

overtherainbo · 18/07/2021 15:34

We seen an actual little baby today 🥲
