@InDreamland Can I ask what it’s like being pregnant with another wee one to look after? I’m 35 so me and DH are thinking we’d try for another fairly quickly if we wanted a second child. But my first 16 weeks of this pregnancy were really rough with sickness and nausea so I’m wondering how I’d cope with that when looking after a toddler. I guess you just have to find a way and get on with it?

sargeantsaltnpepper89 · 09/07/2021 17:58

@Jaymar its not too bad honestly, I'm having my third an my youngest is 18months old at the moment.
When I went from 1 to 2 I was panicking think omg what if I don't cope etc as I usually have HG when pregnant but somehow everything works out and you manage, it just become your new normal I guess.
I have a larger gap between my first and second daughter so I'm slightly apprehensive about the small age gap this time but am sure it will work out in the end :) I think if you wait too long or for what feels like the right time it will never happen or you may regret the larger gap, as although on one had the larger gap was great with my eldest and youngest daughter in some aspects, in others I really do wish they were closer in age as it would have been lovely to see them grow up togther and be wee pals, I'm kind of hoping that happens this time but you know what siblings are like so you never know :D haha.
I think if you want more after this baby I would just go for it :) get it all out the way at the same time too as I feel less nervous about starting with this gap than I did with my last pregnancy xx

InDreamland · 09/07/2021 18:47

@Jaymar thanks, I emailed to join the WhatsApp group earlier today so hopefully I'll be added to the group soon as it'll be easier probably for me to keep up. As for being pregnant with a toddler to look after it very much depends on your personal circumstances and how your next pregnancy goes. Personally I've found periods of it okay and other times really difficult. First trimester was terrible as I suffered really badly with morning sickness which still hasn't gone but I'm sick less often now. The last month has been difficult trying to juggle DD being really unwell with back-to-back viruses from nursery, dealing with the pregnancy symptoms, working full time and trying to still run the house. You find a way though and you just need to make sure your DH/DP is onboard and willing to muck in and take the load - my poor DH has had to step up/in to do stuff I'd normally have done when I've been feeling particularly rough. You also have to accept sometimes the cleaning doesn't get done. Hopefully we won't be in another lockdown either so you'll be able to call on others for support if you need it. Remember, you won't be pregnant forever so it's kinda short term pain for long term gain and it'll all be worth it. A friend had her second 13 months after her first so was pregnant 4 months after giving birth. There's a FB group I've joined called 2 under 2 which I'm reading and getting tips from for when this one arrives.

Thanks ladies, this has really reassured me Smile

LozHAP35 · 09/07/2021 21:01

Hi, I'm also due October with our little rainbow baby girl 🌈. I'm 24week and a few days.

pixiedust21 · 09/07/2021 23:56

@LozHAP35 aww congratulations to you! You must be due around the same time as me roughly as I'm 24+2 with a little boy 💙

@InDreamland thank you!!

LozHAP35 · 10/07/2021 09:34

@inDreamland hi, awww yes we are due the same day, that's so cool. I'm just about starting to get excited for our little girl arriving now, after seeing consultant and he said everything is great.
After what happened last year its made me so scared but feel blessed to have a healthy baby this time x

Kona84 · 10/07/2021 09:41

@pixiedust21 I have my GTT next Friday.
Only because of BMI.

Let me know what it entails and how long it takes.
Also have you been told you can drink water? I was just told to fast but didn’t think about water

InDreamland · 10/07/2021 09:49

@LozHAP35 so sorry for your loss last year. Being pregnant with your rainbow is an anxious time but you're so close to the 3rs trimester now so the stats are in your favour to have a healthy take home baby this time. I had 2 losses before having my DD and the pregnancy with her was full of anxiety. I am still anxious now even though I have my rainbow as I worry about this one. Hope you have an uneventful and smooth rest of your pregnancy.

@Kona84 you're allowed to drink water but nothing else from I think it's 9pm or 10pm the night before. My GTT was 2 hours, they take blood, test the glucose level, then give you a glucose drink to take (makes baby have a rave), you then have to wait 2 hours before having blood taken again, then they send it off to the lab. No eating or drinking apart from water until after the second bloods are taken x

Peacefulspirit · 10/07/2021 10:06

Anyone suffering with sciatica? It is absolutely killing me. I have never experienced it before, in my 4 previous pregnancies I had increasingly worse pelvic pain so was all set to have that, literally girding my loins 😝 However, instead I am utterly crippled with sciatica. It’s worse in the morning if I’ve slept in a way which must compress the nerve, this morning it’s excruciating. I’ve tried massage to attempt to loosen any surrounding muscles, heat, cold, stretches, currently in the bath but could actually cry!

Garman · 10/07/2021 10:59

Have you tried massage from a physio or specific deep tissue massage, or just your partner etc? A pelvic support belt would really help, keep knees together getting out of bed, out of car, don't push a trolley, limit pushing a buggy if possible. And paracetamol.

pixiedust21 · 10/07/2021 11:39

@Kona84 yes I was told only drink water (no food) from 10pm the night before and no eating til after the 2nd bloods like @InDreamland said x

pixiedust21 · 13/07/2021 16:44

Got my GTT tomorrow and really nervous/feel weird about it

@InDreamland did anything come back from yours? Fingers crossed all is fine.

Hope everyone's getting on well, I feel really bloated again this week but otherwise okay.

@pixiedust21 I hope it goes well tomorrow. Try not to be too nervous (unless you don't like having blood taken). It's pretty straightforward as a test. You'll probably just have to wait a few days for the results. I got mine yesterday afternoon, my midwife contacted me to say it was normal. I'm so relieved!

pixiedust21 · 13/07/2021 20:23

@InDreamland ah that's great news! I don't really mind getting blood taken I guess I'm just nervous for the outcome even though it's not the worst thing in the world and I can make a plan to manage it if need be. Just don't want any extra stuff to worry about ha.

Must remember to take a book for the 2 hour wait tomorrow that'll be the worst bit!

Hope everyone's getting on well x

Cpr12 · 13/07/2021 21:08

@pixiedust21 good luck tomorrow! Hopefully all will be fine xx

InDreamland · 13/07/2021 21:17

@pixiedust21 fingers crossed for a normal result! Are you on the WhatsApp group yet? That may help with the 2 hour wait.

pixiedust21 · 13/07/2021 21:49

@InDreamland ooh no I'm not, really need to get myself added haha! x

Jessica86Shropshire · 14/07/2021 10:04

@pixiedust21 hope it goes well today. Had mine last week and it was fine. I was just famished afterwards 😊

InDreamland · 15/07/2021 16:55

@pixiedust21 how did it go yesterday? Hope all went well and you get your results soon.
