@jessicakxx oh yes! I wake up so hungry and I feel so depressed when I look in the mirror. I can't say I am very fat but I really hate my cellulite :(

@Juicytoot287 oh yes she does that to my husband as well and when I try to film her. The kicks are very strong and you can see them but once i take the camera up then she stops

@mooloop Oh i am sorry to hear you are so stressed. Try to take it easy, take maybe a break? Go for a walk? It's Friday today so maybe you can make some plans for the weekend Grin

Jahanbi · 18/06/2021 12:26

Hello everyone, I also had my 20 week scan and the everything is fine. We are having a baby girl in October. Can't wait!! Very excited. :) My hunger has suddenly ramped up and yesterday I woke up at 2 pm and made myself a sandwich which felt like heaven on a plate!!! :P

jessicakxx · 18/06/2021 12:30

@mooloop @oannic @Jahanbi glad it's not just me! @oannic Celulite is totally normal, I've always had some on my thighs and bum!

I am really looking forward to not being worried about everything I eat tbh! I just had some steak and I purposely cooked it on a really high heat and hot pan for 9 minutes, it looked literally cremated, half way through it was a bit bloody so gave it to my partner, grrrr. X

jessicakxx · 18/06/2021 12:31

@mooloop I don't think you should put extra pressure on yourself thinking it's not good for your little boy, I'm sure he is very content in there tucked away :) there's no possible way to go 9 months without anxiety or stress xxx

Cpr12 · 18/06/2021 12:42

@mooloop I would have a word with your work. You don’t need stress bothering you! Hope today is a bit better xx

So today I went round to my friends and picked up all her baby bits to use for my wee boy, I now literally have everything I need apart from nappies and wipes. Managed to get everything apart from the car seat (for obvious reasons) either second hand or borrowed. I am always trying to save the planet so feeling very accomplished haha! Has anyone got a good list of everything we will need, while I say I have everything, I am new to this so want to be sure haha!

@jessicakxx that is a comprehensive list, this makes me feel even more that I am flying by the seat of my pants haha!

@Jahanbi congrats xx

jessicakxx · 18/06/2021 15:54

@Cpr12 I'm not sure what that means but it made me laugh 😂 I've probably got too much on there but I've watched a lot of videos of first time mums of what they wish they had known before the baby and they give tips on items that have helped and I just added them to the list. For example, the night lights! I'd have never thought about it and I'd have been stumbling around in the dark with the baby, I'm clumsy as it is 😁

Hope you are all doing well 💞

Cpr12 · 18/06/2021 17:48

@jessicakxx essentially, I am woefully unprepared and know nothing about babies or what they need haha!! I should maybe watch these too! I did see one tip to have a little basket you could take every time you sit down just in case baby falls asleep and you are stuck. They suggested having water, tv remote, book and a couple of others things, I thought actually that is an excellent idea!

jessicakxx · 18/06/2021 18:02

@Cpr12 that's a really good idea! Will write those down! Her name is home with shan on YouTube, she did some really good first time mum videos that I found really helpful for what to need xxx

Cpr12 · 18/06/2021 18:53

@jessicakxx fab, will look her up :) and yeah I thought so. Will have to think of other things which could go in that basket! I already know the pain of being stuck under a sleeping dog haha!

jessicakxx · 18/06/2021 21:33

@Cpr12 lol atleast dogs and babies are cute so we will be trapped for a nice reason 😃 I was planning on doing my middle of the night feeds in the room next to my bedroom in a big chair and keeping it all really dim and no big light( but I've just been at my friends who has two babies and she said I might be best going downstairs and popping the tv on and finding some good series to binge because the feed and winding could take up to an hour and then the baby might not settle straight after to go back into the crib.....I might make a series list it seems like I shall need it, maybe also we should buy snack baskets for the middle of the night feeds? We will get hungry too 😂😂 x

Beanie14 · 19/06/2021 09:46

@jessicakxx.
I've been watching home with Shan too! It's been great for advice xx

Rmka · 19/06/2021 12:17

Congratulations on all the scans, everyone. It's amazing we're all (I think?) more than half way there. Flowers

@jessicakxx, thanks for sharing the list, that's really helpful.

@Cpr12, thanks for the advice with the basket of stuff, that sounds like a great idea. For the baby I'll probably have most things second hand too. Few of my friends offered clothes, blankets, milk machines (I'm planning to breastfeed, but it's good to have options in case it doesn't' work out). But I'll have to get the big stuff - pram, cot, dresser/changing table.

I also started writing down ideas from friends and family. One was to have a good thermos mug for breastfeeding and walks. I've had one for many years, but it started leaking, so I ordered one with autoseal as it's supposed to be very safe and leak proof. I also have a list of audiobooks to listen to while breastfeeding.

And recently I signed up for antenatal classes in September as me and my husband know nothing about babies :D Is anyone doing those?

Kona84 · 19/06/2021 17:05

@Rmka I have done a couple of free online antenatal classes.
One through blossom antenatal- mainly about breastfeeding
And the second one was through @thehonestmidwife on Instagram.

Other than that I’ve been watching YouTube videos and trying to absorb as much info as possible.

Cpr12 · 19/06/2021 20:39

@rmka mine are in September too, although the midwife thinks my husband won’t get to come as they can only have a small number.

@jessicakxx oh, also good advice. I haven’t even thought that far ahead. May need to think of a spot with a tv for nighttime feeds. Or set up the iPad to use in advance. Gosh, so much to think of!!

@kona84 I will have to look them up too! So much to research!

Garman · 19/06/2021 23:08

If you're breastfeeding doing night feeds lying down with baby by your side is the best way to still get some rest, otherwise if you're getting up to go to another room and watching TV you'll lose hours of sleep overnight and be absolutely exhausted. Have your bed set up for safe cosleeping and look at the C position our bodies automatically go into around a baby and get an extra bit of shut eye while baby feeds, or safe yourself any worry of falling asleep feeding. Sitting on a couch or bed full of pillows while tired and feeding and falling asleep is the risk, being set up and prepared for safe sleep is much better.

Juicytoot287 · 20/06/2021 08:25

Morning everyone,

Been looking at prams and travels systems getting myself a bit concerned with my lack of knowledge. I want a decent travel system but equally would like to save as much as possible (wouldn't we all). What are we all going with or have gone with? please!!!

Kona84 · 20/06/2021 10:39

My partners mum bought us the Joie Juva - car seat and pram it was £99 I didn’t want it to be expensive and I can’t see us using a pram often I think a carrier will be better for us.
It’s not too bad of a pram- can definitely se the cost savings and doesn’t look as cute as some of the higher end models but if we find that we are using a pram a lot I will upgrade it when I upgrade the car seat

Cpr12 · 20/06/2021 17:02

@Juicytoot287 we got the Uppababy Vista. It is 5 years old or so got it second hand with every attachment (apart from car seat) for £100. I think we will use a sling a lot and have 2 dogs so buying something new was just pointless for us it will be trashed in no time haha!

Is anyone using reusable nappies? Just been sent a recommendation from the Nappy Lady but still unsure. There is just so much out there!

Jelliestogether · 20/06/2021 22:52

Nice to hear about all the 20w scans now. We had ours last week 😍 all looking good but having a cardiac scan w/c 28th June to have a closer look, not because anything looked wrong just for further reassurance.

@Cpr12 yes I use reusable (not at night though) for my 22m old and I'll be using them on this baby too. Although I started at 6m with my first and plan to do it from newborn this time! I personally prefer the nappy gurus for advice to the nappy lady!

Rmka · 21/06/2021 04:55

@Kona84, thanks, I'll check those online classes. :)

@Juicytoot287, I still haven't decided, the choice is overwhelming, isn't it? Few of my friends and family recommended to go to a few shops first to get a feel of different travelling systems as that will give me an idea what features I need and what are useless. And all recommended to find one with good storage underneath. We live in a city so will probably use it a lot, so I want to find the right one.

@Cpr12, mine allow partners, but can't guarantee it will be in person (because of Covid). But I need some classes regardless. Smile
Also I need to look at second hand prams, it's a really good deal you got.

@Jelliestogether, congratulations on your scan! With the extra one you'll get to see your baby again Smile How do you find using reusable nappies? Is it a lot of extra work?

Jelliestogether · 21/06/2021 10:21

@Rmka exactly, any excuse to see baby again! I have routine growth scans at 28, 32 and 36w so we still have more to go as well which is lovely!

I'm not going to lie, the reusable nappies do take a little bit more time....I was them 2-3 days. So its 2-3 extra laundry load, but tbh my washing machine is on daily so I don't even notice that! And I make them all up once they're dry so adds maybe 20 mins extra but I just do it in an evening watching TV.

Cpr12 · 21/06/2021 10:55

@Jelliestogether congrats, glad all went well :) and yeah extra scans are so nice. I am down to getting them every three weeks now and already missing seeing baby every other week haha!

The nappies I am looking at all seem to be totally premise, all you have to do is wash and dry them. Although, they did suggest Muslims for newborn which seems like a little bit more as they do need folded. What kind do you use?

Cpr12 · 21/06/2021 10:56

@rmka totally I need classes whether my husband is there or not haha! A bit close to the line though, my last class is 2 weeks before my due date, but they just want me to try and get face to face. We will see. Need to sign up to hypnobirthing too.
