Very late to the party. I am venturing onto mumsnet for the first time. Due 8th of October with baby number four, but will be early due to C-section. No idea how mumsnet works, but was suggested to me to dip my toe. Evening all. 😊

pixiedust21 · 17/08/2021 10:43

@Feralkidsfurandfeathers welcome and congratulations!! 😊 hope you have been feeling well so far?

Due end of October here.... still seems like ages away.... but at the same time feel like time is flying! It's weird.

Feralkidsfurandfeathers · 17/08/2021 11:01

@pixiedust21 feel fairly rough, but that is normal for me. Just hit the knackered section of the third trimester, bad timing with all the children being off school. Fortunately my teenager helps me out if I need a nap. Is it your first baby? The third trimester can really fly by or really, really drag. How are you feeling?

mooloop · 17/08/2021 12:33

Hey everyone, this thread has been quiet for a while!

Welcome @Feralkidsfurandfeathers I'm due on the 30th October, first baby.

I felt pretty good for the second trimester, now I've hit the 3rd and I feel like I've been run over by a bus 😂 I'm so tired, my back and boobs ache and my hips are uncomfortable in the night. I've emailed my boss today asking if I can add in another week of annual leave so I'd finish at 37 weeks.

Totally agree it feels like it's flying but also miles away @pixiedust21!

@Feralkidsfurandfeathers yes first baby for me! So we are in the stage of trying to prepare (ourselves and the house) but at the same time no idea what to expect 😂

I had a bad few weeks in the middle of the pregnancy but since about 20/21 weeks I've generally been feeling well. Tired - and definitely feeling heavier and just a bit more achey now I'm in third trimester - but generally okay.

Absolutely sick of work now and just want to get ready for baby, I'm planning to finish at the end of September and take 2 weeks annual leave after that so just under 6 weeks to go.

Feralkidsfurandfeathers · 17/08/2021 15:37

@mooloop @pixiedust21 I finished work as soon as I could with my first and was soooo fed by the time it came to actually have her. My second I worked until 37 weeks and only stopped because my boss didn't want me giving birth in one of her stables 😅. My third I was a stay at home mum so wasn't working but had the distractions of a two year old, and was still really active.
This time I can barely walk to the end of the drive, fortunately my dog is happy running around our woods chasing the children so I can get away with not doing much. Not relishing the schools runs come September though.

I sympathise with the discomfort. I am so hot at night surrounded by cushions and pillows in an attempt to be comfortable.

I am a C-section mum so at least I have the knowledge that it will end by a particular date. 😊

Peacefulspirit · 17/08/2021 15:45

Nice seeing where everyone is at. I’m 32+3 with #5 and have good and bad days. Braxton Hicks are definitely worse this time.

mooloop · 17/08/2021 17:24

Wow number 5 @Peacefulspirit! That gives me faith that it must all be worth it 😂

I've been getting braxton hicks just for the past few days, only ever when I walk my dog!

Feralkidsfurandfeathers · 17/08/2021 17:39

@peacefulspirit wow number five. We wanted 5 but gynae issues were against us. Tbh pregnancy number four is currently doing a fairly stirling job of rinsing my mental health and physical health so we are definitely done.
@mooloop I have this too. I am limited to 30-40 minutes walk much to my rotties dismay. I find they are a bit easier if I keep my fluids up, but then run the risk of needing a wee halfway through a walk. Knowing my luck the farmers would come round the corner on the combine mid-wee 😅

Peacefulspirit · 17/08/2021 18:28

To be fair, this baby was a massive surprise. A new partner and 10 years after my youngest. Half feels like baby number 5 and half feels like baby number 1. Who knows what it’s all going to be like?! X

Feralkidsfurandfeathers · 17/08/2021 19:18

I had a 9 year gap between 1&2. Felt like a first time mum until baby arrived and then everything fell into place and I remembered it all. Are you older children excited or just mortified that their mum still has sex like my teenage is 😅

Garman · 17/08/2021 19:26

Hi everyone, was in this thread at some stage but lost track!

I'm 29 weeks, due November 1st officially but I have complete placenta previa which is highly unlikely to move, so it looks like it will be a csection at 37-38 weeks if I get that far with no bleeding. My third csection, not what I wanted but nothing I can do!

I'm as big now as I was when my first was born at 36 weeks and second at 39 weeks, and still 2 months to go 😩 I'm not big compared to others but for me I am! Everything getting more difficult now!

mooloop · 17/08/2021 20:34

Aww that's a shame @Garman! But at least you'll have the certainty of a scheduled date on the bright side. And you'll know what to expect if this is your third CS Smile

I keep swaying between "omg I'm not ready" to "hurry up October" in my mind 😂 the time has flown by and it's still a bit surreal!

OP posts:
pixiedust21 · 18/08/2021 01:42

@mooloop I feel exactly the same!! Keep veering between wanting to pause time and hurry it up - and part of me still can't quite believe I'm actually having a baby!

Even though I'm literally lying wide awake as baby dances a jig around all my organs especially, it seems, my bladder.

Feralkidsfurandfeathers · 18/08/2021 09:12

@garman I am scheduled in for my fourth section but knew that it was always going to be a C-section as I have a particularly shallow android pelvis. Doesn't make it any easier when you know it's coming. I am dreading the post surgery recovery. Fortunately husband is taking a month off. Is your partner going to be around to help much? Totally feel for you. I feel huge, but my lot are all 8lb+ so it's hardly surprising and this one is measuring bigger than usual. My ligaments are quite stretched so don't holding everything back quite as well.

Garman · 18/08/2021 12:44

He can't take any time off work unfortunately as he's self employed with only very junior staff, but it was the same last time with dc2 so I know that drill. My mum and friends will help out, inlaws are no good.

If it all goes to plan I'm fine with it, it's essentially the waiting now every day to see if bleeding starts at any stage that I'm finding stressful.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 30/09/2021 10:40

Hey ladies, just found this thread again! How is everyone?! Have any of you ladies had your babas yet?
I'm booked in for my section on Monday, super excited but nervous as hell, it's very real now!
I've had the worst pregnancy this time. In and out of hospital for various reasons. I'm on blood pressure tablets and been monitored for pre-eclampsia. It's been a nightmare! So I'll be glad when it's all over and I'm finally on the road to recovery.

Hope everyone is doing well!! Xx

Feralkidsfurandfeathers · 30/09/2021 22:34

Had my little one on Monday. They moved my C-section as everything was going a bit wrong. Had an amazing birth and baby is doing well. I just need to heal now.

October 2021 babies - Part 3
MyGrassIsBrowner · 01/10/2021 21:21

@Feralkidsfurandfeathers Oh wow, your children are little beauties! Congrats mama. Did you end up still having a section then? I'm definitely getting anxious for my section on Monday now 😬

Feralkidsfurandfeathers · 01/10/2021 22:03

@MyGrassIsBrowner I did have a section. I have an android pelvis that is particularly shallow so all four of mine have been sections. Monday was an amazing experience. I have had two emergency sections and this was my second elective. My last section wasn't great as I had a panic attack. This time round I did loads of prep work. Breathing exercises, visualisation techniques, meditation to avoid a panic attack.
The surgery team all knew my history so we really attentive. We had our playlist (chilled drum and bass), I saw her being born, delayed cord clamping, skin to skin really soon after birth, she ended up feeding in theatre whilst they sewed me up. She stayed with me the entire time as did my husband. He got skin to skin once we were in recovery so that I could rest as my blood pressure was a little low due to blood lose.
I am very, very sore because they also did a sterilisation and a tummy tuck due to old scar tissue. Means my recovery will take longer but it's just one of those things.
A section is more medicalised due to it being major surgery, that doesn't mean you can't have a really positive experience. Xx

MyGrassIsBrowner · 01/10/2021 22:32

@Feralkidsfurandfeathers Oh my... wow! sounds like you had a really incredible experience this time, so pleased for you. Hope you're getting plenty of support so you can heal.
I have my pre-op tomorrow so going to get the down low on how it all goes and what options I have in regards to having the curtain lowered etc. My hospital do offer enhanced recovery so all being well I'm hoping to be discharged by the Tuesday evening. I had a very quick 4.5 hour labour with my DD but I was left with a low grade prolapse and a really really tough recovery, took me months and months to feel normal again, so my reason for section this time is I just dont want to risk any further damage with a subsequent vaginal delivery. Xx

Feralkidsfurandfeathers · 01/10/2021 22:51

@MyGrassIsBrowner I was out late Tuesday afternoon. Would have been sooner but my meds took ages to get up to the ward. I had her at 11:30 on the Monday so was in just over a day. Husband has taken a month off so I can take my time recovering.
They should be able to drop the screen. The theatre staff took loads of pictures of my delivery too. Good luck. Let me know how you get on. X

MyGrassIsBrowner · 02/10/2021 00:38

@Feralkidsfurandfeathers you fill me with hope! 😊 thank you for sharing your experience btw. Amazing that your DH is able to take so much time off for you, that'll be lovely.
I'll definitely come back and update you xx

Kona84 · 04/10/2021 11:41

Congratulations what a beautiful family

MyGrassIsBrowner · 04/10/2021 19:37

@Feralkidsfurandfeathers Macy Olivia Louise, welcomed into the world at 11:06am. 8lb 14oz, she's perfect. The section was the most magical, surreal moment I have ever experienced and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Xx
