@mooloop how exciting what did you go for? That's good news about wfh that will be much better for you in your third trimester and much more comfortable xx

mooloop · 05/07/2021 20:34

We've gone for the Bugaboo Fox 2 in a bundle with the car seat, foot muff etc @jessicakxx Smile it felt nice and light to push and folds down surprisingly small.

Felt very real discussing my plans for handing over etc at work today!! 😳 sometimes I think I forget there's gonna be an actual real baby at the end of this 😂

@mooloop

Hey everyone, how are we all?

Just ordered our pram and car seat today, exciting but scary!! And my boss has confirmed I can WFH from 28 weeks, so just 5 weeks to go and I'm on annual leave for one of those Smile

That's amazing! And great you've got the buggy sorted too. Defo know what you mean - feels a lot more real once you've parted with some cold hard cash for travel system GrinGrinGrin

pixiedust21 · 05/07/2021 22:26

@mooloop I am the same I think I keep forgetting (even with all the prep and trying to think about buying things) that the end result is going to be a baby actually coming home! I still feel quite unprepared and a bit more freaked as time marches on!

Absolutely clueless thinking about prams/travel systems. Really no idea what I should even be considering!!

Cpr12 · 05/07/2021 22:44

@mooloop yay on both!! So good you can work from home ☺️ I am starting the work handover chats and now actually in a panic I only really have 11/12 weeks left and so so much to do in that time 😳

mooloop · 05/07/2021 23:04

I feel the same @pixiedust21 @Cpr12 🙈 I'm buying all this baby stuff, seeing my belly grow and feeling him kicking away but sometimes I'm like oh yeah... I'm going to bring a real baby home and I'll be an actual parent for the rest of my life 😱 it's mad!

Anybody thought much about their birth preferences etc yet? I want to do some online course things i think, but I'm not sure if it's a bit early for that now?

Rmka · 06/07/2021 05:18

@mooloop that's great news about your work and the buggy. We got our travel system last weekend, and also bought a cot.
I downloaded NHS birth plan and started making notes in it. I have things that I'm pretty certain I want. And I made notes of things I want to discuss with a midwife. It might be too early, I don't know, but I'll bring it up at my 25 week appointment this Wednesday.

I am interviewing candidates for my maternity cover this week, it feels so real now. And after buying travel system and cot, which is just a beginning, I started thinking why do people do this? 😂 But then I pictured little baby sleeping in a cot and forgot all about it ❤️

Rmka · 06/07/2021 05:24

@pixiedust21, I read some articles about travel systems, maybe you'll find them helpful too:
www.emmasdiary.co.uk/pregnancy-and-birth/pushchairs-and-car-seats/a-pushchair-or-a-travel-system-your-guide-to-your-baby-s-transport
www.mumsnet.com/reviews/travel-systems/buyers-guide
www.which.co.uk/reviews/pushchairs/article/how-to-choose-the-best-travel-system-atqug4R8M3Xa

But the best thing we've done after reading all this, we went to a shop with lots of pushchairs in stock and we tried them there. We found a good local shop where we could try everything, including assembly of different parts. We could feel the fabric, the weight etc. We thought we'll just look, but ended up buying.

pixiedust21 · 06/07/2021 14:54

@Rmka oh fab thank you I'll have a read x

Also that's good advice about trying in the shops too!

Jelliestogether · 06/07/2021 16:48

@mooloop that's great you can work from home! I need to raise this with my work and see what the plan is! I'm not sure they'll be very accommodating! Although I'm currently self isolating as my daughter tested positive for covid. I tested negative luckily but keeping up with lateral flows just incase

Jelliestogether · 06/07/2021 16:48

Ooohh I have the original fox and I love it! Great choice on pushchair 😂

mooloop · 06/07/2021 18:30

Oh no @Jelliestogether is your daughter feeling ok? My assistant at work has just tested positive but luckily I've not seen her since Friday, scary though!

Glad you rate the Fox, I'm so excited to wheel my little human around in it 😂

Sorry if it's already been chatted about but has anyone started thinking of names?

I had a girl name picked for ages so obviously we are having a boy Grin I've really struggled before with thinking of boy names we like but I think we have narrowed it down!

We keep referring to him (just between ourselves) as the name and it's really grown on me, it's weird as I obviously haven't met the baby - except via scans? 😅 - but I feel like he suits it. Starting to imagine him as a proper little person and I get excited - distracts me from remembering I don't have a clue what I am doing but I am sure we will muddle along in the end Grin

Peacefulspirit · 06/07/2021 19:31

We had a name that I was completely all set on and now I have totally changed my mind. I hope this one sticks for the next 13 weeks!

mooloop · 06/07/2021 21:03

@pixiedust21 we had lots of girl names too so of course baby is a boy! Grin

We have a shortlist for boys, but once we found out he was a boy I just felt like "that's not his name" for most of them. I have 1 favourite that I can picture him being and DH likes it too, but we've not 100% decided yet. I think we're going to have to make a shortlist and see what he suits when he arrives Smile

@pixiedust21 @mooloop
I'm struggling for names. I had a boy name set and we are expecting a girl 💕 I thought there were so many pretty girl names that it would be easy! My husband is set on a girls name and has been for about 3 years I'm just not struck on it. I don't dislike it though! I just really want a name we both like. XxX

Jelliestogether · 08/07/2021 02:35

@mooloop thanks, yes she's on the mend now and definitely starting to feel better, just as I'm feeling worse! I'm hoping today was the peak of it. Its awful as I can't take anything for it other than paracetamol and hot drinks!

mooloop · 08/07/2021 13:20

Oh bless you @Jelliestogether! It really is scary at the moment, my best friend has just tested positive today. Thankfully I haven't seen her recently but it does hit home how rampant this new variant is.

I was really in two minds about the vaccine but I've booked it today for the weekend. I'll be 32w when I get my second dose, I just hope it keeps my little boy safe ❤️

Hi ladies ! how are we all?.
I'm terrible for keeping up to date with this lol! Noticed there was a mention of a group whatsapp? Would love to be able to join as well if that would be ok as I'm terrible for responding on this !!Blush.
we have a boys name picked and as much as I love it there's just something niggling away that its not for him, its weird as its been my favourite little boys name for years, always said to my DH that if had a son this would be his name and then as fate would have it, it was a nickname given to my husband by his late grandfather ( although its not remotely anything near his actual name!! Confused Grin lol and my husband loves its and since we found out we were having a boy he's been calling him by it ever since lol. The other name we had for a little boy was a name my youngest daughter would have been called 18 months ago had she been a boy and surprisingly again ive gone off it even though I absolutely adored this name and still do for someone else I just cant see my little boy being called this now which is annoying !!! lol I've noticed a trend in all my pregnancies if I love a boy name I have a girl as with both daughter I really struggled to pick a name for them too!!! haha both previous pregnancies I had a list of boy names now we have literally the family name which I think we probably will go with and one other which I just cant see happening lol.

Jelliestogether · 09/07/2021 08:22

@mooloop glad you've made a decision about the vaccine that you feel happy with. Yes this new varient is definitely going through people atm!

Anyone able to add me to the Facebook group please?

InDreamland · 09/07/2021 10:33

Hello ladies. I feel bad I joined then disappeared for a week and a half. It's been a bit of a difficult time with DD being unwell, there's horrible viruses doing the rounds at nursery at the moment and I've felt awful this week too - mix of exhaustion from DD not sleeping, morning sickness/nausea and probably caught what DD has had. Also ended up with her in A&E yesterday because she scarily reacted badly to something. Thankfully she seems a bit better today.

I'm just sitting waiting for my 2nd set of bloods to be taken for my GTT, really hope I haven't developed gestational diabetes. I didn't when pregnant with DD. Anyone else got to have a GTT?

@Kona84 the shin splints sound painful! I try to drink lots of water but it makes me feel sick.

@Jl2020 sorry you're getting some calf cramps too. The hip and back pain sounds horrible. Hope you have some good supportive pillows to help.

Sounds like everyone is buying lots now. Thankfully we have everything we need really from DD so spending on baby stuff will be minimal unless we need to buy some boy clothes ........a lot of the newborn stuff we have is unisex anyway.

We do need to check the baby carrier fits okay behind the drivers seat though as the front passenger seat is quite far forward for DDs car sear, she's only 16 (almost 17) months old so still needs to be rear facing. If the baby carrier we have means the driver seat needs to be too far forward to fit in then we are going to have to start looking for a new car 🤦🏻‍♀️ We have the Joie i-level for the baby carrier, DD has the Britax dualfix M which I love because it spins around and makes getting her in and out so much easier so once baby is 12 months I'll be buying another, or switch him/her to DDs seat and buy DD a new one as I may put her front facing then as she'll be older. I find the car seats the hardest thing to buy.

We're still undecided on names. I just don't love the ones we have and the couple I really like DH isn't keen.

pixiedust21 · 09/07/2021 12:57

@InDreamland I have my GTT booked for Wednesday, kind of dreading it and really hope I haven't got it. Have to have it because of BMI - but everything else has been really straightforward and low risk so far (blood pressure normal, baby looking fine in scans etc)

Just feel a bit worried about it as I kind of feel like if I have it it's my fault, even though I know that's silly.

Anyway.... good luck with your results and fingers crossed all is well.

We went to a Mamas and Papas store near us for a look today and ended up ordering our travel system! It's an 8 piece bundle that was half price so really pleased with it. It felt lovely to handle and quite easy to manoeuvre around so I'm chuffed. Feels very real now we have done that! Eek!

InDreamland · 09/07/2021 14:30

@pixiedust21 please don't blame yourself if you do have it. It won't be anything you have or haven't done. It's just one of those things unfortunately that some pregnant women develop. Even slim people get it. I had to have it because of my ethnicity but also this time at my midwife appointment last week there was sugar in my urine. Think maybe my age also makes me higher risk for GD, I'm old! Good luck for Wednesday!

pixiedust21 · 09/07/2021 15:27

@InDreamland aw yes I know that really and a friend of mine recently had to have a test because she has relatives with Diabetes and she's completely slim/normal weight. I get that it's just a risk factor and needs to be checked. And it can be managed.

Guess it's just something extra to think about I'd rather not have to but hey ho!

InDreamland · 09/07/2021 15:39

@pixiedust21 I also wish I didn't have to think or worry about it. Fingers crossed we both don't have it 🤞🏼
