Hey @emmex, welcome!

Sorry to hear of your previous losses, it must be so tough and nerve wracking Thanks one of my friends had 2 MCs in a row and then fell pregnant again, he's a gorgeous little 6 month old now Smile

@InDreamland I also have regular growth scans due to my previous daughter being small for gestational age at birth and measuring small throughout. I've got them booked for 28w, 32w and 36w with consultant appointments too.

Juicytoot287 · 30/06/2021 16:32

welcome @emmex ! When abouts are you due? I am due at the end as well, 28th October! I have my next midwife appointment soon when I am close to 24 weeks so hopefully yours is soon too and you can get some reassurance x

emmex · 30/06/2021 16:42

Thanks all.

The 2 previous losses were really difficult to take but the Early Pregnancy Unit at the hospital were fab to deal with and really helped me through it.

Wee one is due 25th October. In my 12 and 20 wk scans she wouldn’t stop dancing so that really helped assuage a lot of our fears. After the 20 wk scan when we knew all was developing well, and now I can really feel her (she’s started to tap dance regularly!) I am much more at ease and feel I can finally enjoy the pregnancy rather than be worried all the time.

How is everyone else finding being pregnant in these Covid times? Antenatal classes online are a bit rubbish aren’t they? Really craving some F2F contact with others in same boat as me but it’s so difficult just now

emmex · 30/06/2021 16:57

Oh also, i saw someone mention starting a WhatsApp group chat with earlier on. I'd be up for joining this as well if that's cool?

Rmka · 30/06/2021 17:30

@emmex, welcome! I'm sorry for your loses but glad your baby is doing well. It's so great and reassuring to feel the movements Smile

Definitely you should join the WhatsApp group. :)

Juicytoot287 · 30/06/2021 17:36

I haven't been told about antenatal classes. Is this something we are meant to research ourselves? Any advice welcome here

Jaymar · 30/06/2021 17:36

Hi @emmex, welcome and congrats on your pregnancy! I’m so sorry to hear about your losses. I had one last October. Glad to hear that you are at the stage where you feel you can relax a bit and enjoy your pregnancy. I’ve found that the excitement has outweighed the nerves as each week has gone by.

Thank you! It was tough but my hubby was great and I also found a wee helpline which was great resource - crying to a stranger is very cathartic it turns out Confused

How do I join the WhatsApp group? Anyone know?

Jaymar · 30/06/2021 17:43

@Juicytoot287 I’ve signed up for NCT classes starting in August. My friend says the content mostly covers the basics but it’s a great way to meet other local Mums. Her little boy is 1 now and she’s been out with her NCT Mums every week and they have a WhatsApp etc. I still need to research whether to do any other course like hypnobirthing.

emmex · 30/06/2021 17:43

@Juicytoot287 the antenatal classes we are working through are the online ones (Solihull approach) which are free during Covid

Here's the link if that helps anyone

@jessicakxx

Amazing :-) il start it no probs, if you send me your number and first name to my email address and then I'll add people as we go

[email protected] I've just made that specifically for this 😬

@InDreamland congratulations ❤️

X

@emmex here is how to join the WhatsApp
emmex · 30/06/2021 17:45

@Jaymar definitely agree. As the weeks go on I find you are more focused on looking forward rather than back - mostly because of all the stuff you have to organise and buy!! Ha ha

I booked NCT too, but for beginning of September. In theory they should be face to face. I also hope to meet other mums.

Juicytoot287 · 30/06/2021 17:56

Thanks everyone!

Some potentially silly questions:

  1. What is hypnobirthing and why is there classes for it?
  2. It says the NHS offer them for first time mums but I haven't been told. Are they just not on and if so is it best to go NCT. Just if i can access some for free, obviously that is preferably.
Jaymar · 30/06/2021 18:03

@Juicytoot287 my midwife told me about the NHS classes so you should definitely ask yours next time you see her. I think hypnobirthing classes are about tools and mindset to have a positive birth, whereas NHS and NCT will be more practical stuff.

Juicytoot287 · 30/06/2021 18:07

@jaymar Oh great thanks. Definitely need some form of classes, how come you are doing both? Or did you just opt for NCT?

Jaymar · 30/06/2021 18:11

I’ve just opted for NCT because my friend recommended it.

Jaymar · 30/06/2021 18:12

NHS and NCT will be similar so no need to do both Smile

Cpr12 · 30/06/2021 19:04

@emmex congrats and I am sorry for your losses! Hopefully you can start enjoying now ☺️

@Juicytoot287 I was told about them at my 22 week appointment but know they are holding off as trying to see if face to face is an option. I am booked in for my nhs classes in September so cutting it fine! Going to do hypnobirthing as I think it is more about taking control of your labour and enjoying it (as much you can!!)

Kona84 · 30/06/2021 20:08

I’m reading a book on hypnobirthing and watching YouTube videos.
It’s just about calming fears and having some belief that your body can do it.

emmex · 01/07/2021 13:08

@Jaymar thanks for the heads up on the WhatsApp group. I'll email you now @jessicakxx now with my details so you can add me on Smile
