@Cpr12 basically yes! That's kind of it! For Breastfed babies (I don't know the rules on formula fed babies but the nappy gurus will be able to help!) You just take the nappy off, I take out the inserts, put it in your wet bag, then when your ready they all go in the wash. You do a quick wash (mines 30 mins) then a proper wash (my standard wash is 3hrs for all clothes). They say its best to use powder over pods, but tbh I used it before as I find powder washes better for all stuff.

Post weaning its the same but, you just have to get rid of any solids before washing

Jelliestogether · 21/06/2021 13:52

@Cpr12 for my toddler I use mostly baba and boo, which is a pocket nappy.

I brought some newborn reusable last night and brought newborn close pop in. I spoke to someone from the nappy gurus who helped me decide! But I will also be buying some newborn baba and boo too

Hey guys, how's everyone feeling today?

Thank you so much for all the wise words after my work related melt down last week!!

Just a heads up in case anybody is interested, Amazon have a Prime sale on today with some quite good baby bits well discounted Smile

@mooloop hope you are feeling better? I am feeling quite happy today, had my first consultant appointment and he just said my Papp-a issue is nothing to worry about and just that he will see me monthly for my growth scans. I also requested a c-section at the end of the call for a few reasons which I thought I would have to really fight for and I prepared a doc full of notes but he signed it off really quickly and I didn't even need to use my notes.
So he said he will book it in at my 32 week scan. Feeling relieved and looking forward to the rest of the pregnancy now 😊 4 weeks till third trimester 😲 how has this happened so fast! xx

mooloop · 21/06/2021 21:28

@jessicakxx it's still really stressful but I haven't cried since which is a bonus Grin I'm hoping to get June out of the way and reassess how I feel in July. I'm concerned that the September SDLT deadline is just going to be the same stress all over again which I really won't be putting up with at 35+ weeks pregnant! So I want to have a frank conversation with my boss about forward planning for that.

Great news about your appointment, you must be feeling relieved Smile it will be nice for you to have a planned c section and to be able to prepare for it since you'll know the date. Everyone I know who's had one has said they had a very calm experience with theirs Smile

Hi everyone, hope you're all ok?

Did anyone manage to get an bargains on Amazon yesterday? I got a few little bits like some bottles incase I can't breastfeed for whatever reason.

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow, definitely feel nervous but excited. Iv been getting a very strange feeling really low down the last couple of days almost like the occasional pulse either in my cervix or my bladder not really sure 😂 could this be baby moving or is it likely to be something else? I have no idea what baby movements can feel like being a ftm xx

mooloop · 22/06/2021 10:12

@JI2020 my baby's movements felt a bit like a twitch at first quite low down so sounds like it!! Smile good luck for your scan.

I bought a steriliser/bottle set in the Amazon sale in case BF doesn't work out - in the long run I think I like the idea of mixed feeding anyway if possible so would need it at some point!

Jl2020 · 22/06/2021 10:43

@mooloop thankyou 😁 it's such a strange feeling literally feels like I'm being kicked somewhere I shouldn't be 😂 I wouldn't expect the baby to be so low lol but clearly it can be

Yeah I think mixed feeding sounds good too and to start with I would like to express also so that my partner can help with feeds and also have that bonding time xx

Garman · 22/06/2021 11:34

There's loads partners can do to bond with baby other than feeding them, baths, nappy changes, winding (if baby needs it not all do), cuddles while you have a shower or eat or sleep etc 🙂

Jl2020 · 22/06/2021 11:39

@Garman yes of course I know there are all those things they can do too and I know he will be a very hands on dad which is nice 😊 I'm also going to be going back to work really soon after having the baby so it would be helpful if he could just give the baby the first feed in the mornings too or so other family members can feed the baby if they are looking after her for the day or anything xx

Rmka · 22/06/2021 13:17

@Cpr12, I'm planning to do hypnobirthing course too. I'll try online one by Positive Birthing Company and hope that will be enough. I also do yoga (just following YouTube tutorials), so hope that will help.

@Jelliestogether, thanks for the info about reusable nappies, I'll look into it.

@mooloop, I hope your workplace will support you and things will get better.

@Jl2020, it sounds like movements, that's great news. Mine started as little pulses or what felt like bubbles. Now they are now all over the place, from really low down up to my belly button and getting close to my ribs. He's getting stronger and some movements feel like little earthquakes Smile

Cpr12 · 22/06/2021 14:06

@Jl2020 sounds like movement, yay! And good luck tomorrow 😍

@rmka will look that up, I haven’t started looking at all. Keep thinking I have ages, but 24 weeks tomorrow so time is moving on!

Jl2020 · 22/06/2021 14:53

@Rmka aww definitely sounds like he's getting stronger! I have an anterior placenta so wasn't sure at first but I think thats why I don't feel anything higher up just the really low down feelings but I have been getting it more and more over the last few days! Xx

@Cpr12 thankyou ❤️ I'm glad it's in the morning at 10am so I don't have to sit around waiting to go in the afternoon but I am excited to see baby again xx

mooloop · 22/06/2021 17:20

@Rmka @Cpr12 which hypnobirthing course are you guys thinking of? I've seen the Positive Birth Company and the Bump to Baby Chapter but I'm not sure what's best 🤔

Just had my whooping cough jab, I hate needles but it was so quick!

OP posts:
Rmka · 22/06/2021 19:38

@mooloop, I'm going to try Positive Birth Company, someone recommended it to me. But I haven't looked at it yet.
Glad the jab was ok :)

@Jl2020, good luck at the scan tomorrow :)

jessicakxx · 22/06/2021 19:41

@Jl2020 lovely your feeling baby now :) I have an anterior placenta too and didn't start feeling him till around 21 weeks and since 22 weeks they started being proper kicks that shocked me sometimes lol; now 23/24 weeks I have started feeling him a little bit by belly button now but still not much; it's all very much by my pant line xx

Jl2020 · 22/06/2021 20:29

@Rmka thankyou! :) also I have heard a lot of good things about the positive birth company from friends and family members so I think I'm going to look into that too! Xx

@jessicakxx it definitely makes it feel more real when you can feel the little movements! I'll be 21 weeks on Friday so wasn't really expecting to feel anything yet but definitely noticed it more the last couple of days and not something iv ever felt before lol. I think the proper kicks will probably shock me too when I first feel them 😂 xx

Kona84 · 22/06/2021 22:56

The first things I felt were like the baby was kicking my cervix - when I went for my 20 week scan I thought the probe would be near my belly button but the baby was still low in my pelvis.

I am 23 weeks now and have been feeling more movement since 20weeks.
My partner has been able to feel some really strong kicks now. And I’ve been able to see movement near my belly button.
It still shocks me when I feel it

Jl2020 · 23/06/2021 11:26

@Kona84 that sounds exactly my like the little movements iv been feeling but when I had my scan today the probe was like near my belly button so she must have moved and I haven't felt her kicking my cervix yet today. I'm hoping I feel the big kicks soon although I'm sure it will shock me when I do haha.

I had my scan and everything was looking perfect and as it should be, although baby was very uncooperative to begin with was sleeping facing my back and did not want to wake up and move for a while haha.
feel so relieved and now I'm going to start shopping😂💗

Cpr12 · 23/06/2021 12:21

@jl2020 am I right in saying your wee one is never cooperative haha! So glad all went well! And enjoy your shopping 😍 xx

Jl2020 · 23/06/2021 13:02

@Cpr12 yes you are right, I'm thinking maybe it's a sign of things to come 🤣 probably going to be stubborn like me.. god help me lol. Thankyou! ❤️

Does anyone have recommendations for baby baths? Or the best type to use? I was looking at the angelcare bath supports but I'm not sure if they look ideal for a newborn? Xx

jessicakxx · 23/06/2021 13:16

@Jl2020 so pleased about your scan! Brilliant news. Can't help with the bath question as we only have a walk in shower so will be baths in the sink and then in a baby bath for them :-) xx

Jl2020 · 23/06/2021 13:56

@jessicakxx thankyou 🥰 i would love a walk in shower! Tbh I think I'm just going to get a basic baby bath seems easier lol. I find it so overwhelming everything I need to get that I just don't even know where to start really😂 xx

jessicakxx · 23/06/2021 14:27

@Jl2020 I know lol! I never even considered a baby bouncer seat thing so you can keep them safe whilst you need to do stuff round the house and you can have them in the room with you, until my aunty said yesterday she'd buy one for us and then I thought that is actually such a useful thing to have!! the baby baths are good cause you can actually bath the baby anywhere then I guess? I'm sure I had baths in the sink for a good while when I was little lol! Xx

Jelliestogether · 23/06/2021 14:44

@Jl2020 we have the shnuggle baby bath (like a bucket) from my last daughter but we loved it and will be using it again. We used it for ages, months and months, cos as they get bigger she could sit in it unsupported too
