Amazing news @MgW1 😍😍😍 so much 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for us all!!! Two hours though - jeez! You must have been so stressed/worried the whole time too!

@ImpatientTTCer oh no, you poor thing! I've only had a general low level nausea - nowhere near your level though - and fruit, cereal and toast/bagels have helped me! Could you even take some into work? 🤔 oh and orange ice lollies are a craving for me in this heat! 😂 McDonald's is one of the only foods I can bear after bad migraine attacks, and it's filled with everything, so it's good as a one off if you just need to be replenished! 😃

@Noodella18 you were right on the money re: dates! 😃 The midwife was very much "these scans are reassurance only, please take the dates with a pinch of salt!"

Midwife appointment went well! 😃 My urine, BP, etc all good and she feels confident putting me on the "green pathway", so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 everything stays that way! 😃

How's everyone else doing? Any scans or appointments soon? 😃

@M4v3r1ck that’s fantastic news!! Are you feeling a little more relieved now? I have my booking appointment in about 10 days. You’ve given me a craving for an orange ice lolly- like a Calippo (Calipso? Calypso? You know the ones!) or something 😂

Pamparam · 14/06/2021 16:24

Oh hey ladies! I missed this thread and it’s really great to see so many familiar names from the other board!

Oh it’s such a nerve-wracking time, so I’m glad you’re ok @MgW1!

Sorry for all those having morning sickness. I had it very mildly and now at 11ish weeks it’s faded. I had an early scan privately and all was well, my 12 week one is next week.

Hope you’re all ok otherwise!

M4v3r1ck · 14/06/2021 19:00

Hey @Pamparam good to see you here! 😍 Congratulations! 😍 Glad you haven't been too sickly and yay to a great early scan! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for healthy happy pregnancies all round! 😃

@ImpatientTTCer yes, definitely more relieved! Midwives are just so great! Hope your appointment goes well! 😃 And yes, orange callipos or whatever they're called! 🤣 also got some Sainsbury's orange lollies too and they're so tasty! Quite strong but weirdly I'm needing/craving oranges/orange flavours right now! Nice for nausea too! 😃 Hope you find something that eases things for you soon!

@M4v3r1ck oh that's great news about your scan! Really pleased for you! And yeah, I thought the dates would go back to normal!

@ImpatientTTCer I'm starting to feel quite sick now too 🤢 i don't fancy anything other than lying in cool sheets with my eyes closed... but sadly I need to take my whingey toddler to the park in blazing heat 😫

@Pamparam good to see you here!

Pamparam · 15/06/2021 13:19

Whats the green pathway @M4v3r1ck - where you are treated like a regular young pregnant person rather than a 'geriatric'? haha

Hey @Noodella18 - sympathy with the toddler park obligations, don't know where you are but it's noticeably cooler today here, I am relieved!

M4v3r1ck · 16/06/2021 14:08

Poor you @Noodella18 ! Hope your sickness doesn't get worse! I honestly can't cope with anything above 15 degrees! 🤣 Should move to Iceland! 🤣

@Pamparam thankfully no mention of geriatrics! 🤣 Up here it's red, Amber and green pathways, with red being consultant-led, Amber a mix of midwife and consultant, and green being midwife-led. So I'm deemed as slightly lower risk for now, and hopefully it stays that way! 🤞🏻 Your scan is next week, yeah?

Although midwife just phoned me, app the baby is stealing all my iron, so need to go on iron tablets! Explains why I've been so fatigued. I think a few here have been really tired too, so might be worth upping your iron-rich foods! 😃 admittedly I've gone right off my greens etc, so that's probably why!

Hope everyone doing good! 😘

Hi ladies!

Sounds like others are going through the rough time of motioning sickness except that it's all day and any time of the day lol along with tiredness and extreme bloating I barely left the house in two weeks. 🤢

Had my first ultrasound yesterday (7weeks+1) and was able to see my little bean and it's beating heart. I cried. First time in three pregnancies seeing something in the sac. Fingers crossed this one sticks 🤞🤞🤞

I wanted to ask... At 12 weeks there's is that blood test/ultrasound appointment where they can tell you if you're in a high or low bracket for certain things like Downs. There is this free test, but there is also a paid test that you can do as early as 10 weeks and it's meant to be more accurate. Did you take a free one or a paid one in your previous experiences? What are your thoughts on it?

Noodella18 · 19/06/2021 18:44

Oh @VixFromThe6ix that is such fantastic news! Really chuffed for you!! Congratulations!

Re the tests, the NHS ones give you a probability score and are based on measuring a certain bit of the baby's neck and then applying various other factors. The harmony one (i think they're referred to as NIPT or something) involves a normal blood test and separates out the baby's dna and weighs it - if it has missing or added chromosomes it signifies a genetic issue. The latter is MUCH more accurate, I think it's around 99% for downs syndrome and 95% for the other conditions. I personally know somebody who got a low nhs probability score and had a baby with downs syndrome.

It's a very personal choice and to be honest (and without wishing to offend) I think it boils down to whether you would choose to end the pregnancy if the baby would be born with a genetic issue. I personally would, and will be having the harmony test because it's so much more accurate. My best mummy mate would not and she is going with the NHS tests - she would prefer to know in advance, but would not terminate so is happy with the lower accuracy. The good thing is that you don't have to choose straight away - you could have the NHS tests and see what the results are and then choose to have the harmony in the following weeks (perhaps if you had a high probability score.)

I think our friends having a low score and then having a baby with downs syndrome was a bit of a surprise and made us think again about relying solely on the NHS test.

(I appreciate this is an emotive topic and I hope I haven't offended anybody in talking about ending a pregnancy.)

VixFromThe6ix · 19/06/2021 19:09

Hi @Noodella18 👋!!
Thank you for responding. I guess I didn't think this might be a touchy or a controversial subject, but you're right that it might be.
I am leaning a bit more on the paid test because of my age and maybe having that as a factor to increase downs likelihood, so I would like to have a more accurate result. Depending on the result would be our decision or whether to continue with the pregnancy or not.
I also heard opposite stories where someone was told their baby would very likely have it and the girl grew up without any trace of it and is now a university student.
It really is a tough choice. And even though it's weeks away, I am already thinking a lot about it.
My partner asked me the other day, when do we stop stressing or worrying ? And I laughed and said, never.

M4v3r1ck · 21/06/2021 11:23

Hey ladies, weirdly my MN wouldn't load for a few days there! 🤷🏻‍♀️

@VixFromThe6ix amazing news!!! 😍😍😍 So much 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for healthy happy pregnancies all round!

Yes @Noodella18 is right re: 12 week scan - that's all what the midwife said to me. They measure the neck area, give probability and you can decide to have further investigations based on that.

Totally relate re: the never "not stressing or worrying"! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm feeling a bit yucky in that whole area today and getting panicked, even though the midwife said you could feel sensations similar to your period!

How is everyone doing? @Pamparam your scan is this week, isn't it??? 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hey @M4v3r1ck, thanks for checking in. Unfortunately no scan this week as it’s not worked out for me! I’ll spare you all the depressing details. Until next time ladies!

ImpatientTTCer · 22/06/2021 15:29

@Pamparam I’m so sorry that it hasn’t worked out! Are you doing ok? How are you feeling? Xxx

ImpatientTTCer · 22/06/2021 15:30

@Maddie020 it does indeed look like a positive pregnancy test, congratulations!! 🎉

Have you done another test since?

M4v3r1ck · 22/06/2021 19:02

@Pamparam I'm so sorry to hear this! 😔 I really hope you're ok! Sending you so much love! 😘

@Maddie020 welcome and congratulations! 😍 What a journey you've had! I'd do tests every day to check line progression and consider phoning your midwife! 😃

@M4v3r1ck @ImpatientTTCer
Thanks lovelies, I did 3 more tests(attached) today they all have turned out +ve, called Gp and midwife will call me soon.

Also, ladies being 35+ should I be more careful for anything as I know we are at risk than the younger mums.

Would love to hear ur experiences and any tips.

Thanks xx

ImpatientTTCer · 23/06/2021 06:38

@Maddie020 I’m afraid I have no experience and no tips! This is my first pregnancy, I’m nearly 37. It’s hit me for six, I didn’t realise it was possible to be this tired. It was like walking through treacle yesterday, I fell asleep at work again and then at 8.30pm last night 😂

@Noodella18 how’s the nausea, any improvement?

How’s everyone else doing? I have my booking appointment tomorrow…and I caved and booked another private scan for Saturday. Officially (last period) it’s 9w on Sat but I think it’s more like 8w3d. I just want the reassurance (or, to know early that something has gone wrong).

Noodella18 · 23/06/2021 11:52

Hi @ImpatientTTCer I feel bloody awful! Nausea has significantly ramped up and I've been really struggling the last few days. It's been particularly bad when I've had to look after my toddler so I've lined up some support in looking after her the next few weeks. I've been trying to combat it with snacking and seabands and B6 but nothing is helping much at the moment :( How are you feeling? Exciting that you have your booking in appointment soon! Good luck for the reassurance scan.

@Maddie020 I don't think there is anything special to do except look after yourself. Pregnancy, especially the first trimester, can be hard, so get your support systems in place and be kind to yourself,

@Pamparam oh I'm so so sorry to hear that. I hope you're doing ok xx

ImpatientTTCer · 23/06/2021 16:40

@Noodella18 God, it really is just horrific, isn’t it?! I’m living off McDonalds hash browns, jacket potatoes, and rice because that’s all I can stomach! I’m very glad you’ve managed to enlist help for looking after your toddler, I can only imagine trying to look after someone else the way I’ve been feeling!

Ugh!!!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 23/06/2021 17:52

I'm so sorry for some reason it didn't show that any of you had posted.

@Pamparam I'm so sorry. That's horrible mews and I hope you're okay x

M4v3r1ck · 23/06/2021 17:53

@Noodella18 @ImpatientTTCer oh man you poor things!! 😳 Hope it eases off in the coming weeks! 🤞🏻 glad you've got support for your toddler @Noodella18 😃

@ImpatientTTCer keep us posted on your appointments and scans! So much 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Maddie020 same as the others, I don't think there is in particular re: our ages that we need to be aware of to do! Are you taking your prenatal vitamins, avoiding certain foods etc? Main thing is looking after yourself and keeping yourself healthy! 😃 Hope you hear from the midwife soon - they're always so lovely and reassuring! 😃

All quiet with me! Waiting (and hoping and praying) patiently for my 12-week scan next week. I definitely feel less tired and nauseous so hope that's a good sign! I even managed a stir fry with cooked veg! 🤣

@VixFromThe6ix congratulations on your scan, I'm so happy for you! I know you've been super nervous waiting for it. I had my private scan and I'm 7+1, also had some spotting, but the sonographer didn't seem too worried. And there was a heartbeat, and measuring okay.

@Noodella18 sorry you're feeling so rough. That's really not nice. I'm in agreement with you on the private nipt, my scan today said better to have it at 10.5 weeks as it's more accurate. But I'll def be having it (if I get there).

@Maddie020 congratulations!!

VixFromThe6ix · 23/06/2021 18:47

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 so glad you had a good scan as well!! My symptoms have kinds of lightened up and I'm trying not to overthink. I was told it should get worse before it got better but I haven't had nausea in days. My fertility doctor has refered me to an OB at the hospital so I'm waiting for a call from them for a date for my 12week ultrasound/blood test.

@Pamparam I'm so so sorry. Hope you're ok.

@maddie020 congratulations!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 23/06/2021 18:53

@VixFromThe6ix I hope it all goes well. Mine come and go, I don't know if that's normal or not, but there are days my boobs seem to shrink or I feel really well
