@Catconfusion so sorry you're going through this stress! Waiting is so hard! 😳 I hope you get some positive news this afternoon, please keep us posted! 😘🤞🏻

@Katiekattty yup, I feel you pregnancy twin! I worry I'm overanalysing movements! I just want him to be here and safe and healthy!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 fab stuff! So glad it went well! 😍 Did you find out what you're having? It's mental how you get no more scans! I'd love a check in every 2 weeks!

@Noodella18 @Gummybear17 how have you ladies been keeping?

@M4v3r1ck a boy, but I knew that already. If I'm honest the scan was a bit long and boring! But yes it does seem crazy how we don't get extra scans now! So glad there are private providers where you can go

Pamparam · 17/09/2021 14:31

Hey ladies. I'm tentatively back but early days and history means who knows if it's for the duration. Great to read so much good news and @Catconfusion I said on another thread I have everything crossed for you! Please everyone keep everything crossed for me!

VixFromThe6ix · 17/09/2021 15:22

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7

20 week scan was okay, feeling relieved. That's it now for me on the NHS, so might get a private one at 28 weeks to check all's good, otherwise feels a long slog without!

@VixFromThe6ix good luck with yours today!

I was nervous but everything went well. It was clear from the spread eagle that we are having a boy 😂
Gummybear17 · 17/09/2021 16:54

@M4v3r1ck I am doing ok thank you . 15 weeks tomorrow so starting to feel a bit more relaxed . I finally told my kids last night so I currently have a v excited 5 year old and a 'not so sure 9 year old ' glad you are keeping well. Thinking of you @Catconfusion x

Catconfusion · 17/09/2021 17:35

Thank you ladies. Great to see you here @Pamparam

So we didn’t get the call. I was assured if it was high risk I’d get a call within 3 days. Unless it comes in the next hour I doubt it will come. I hope it’s not the hospital being rubbish. So it seems I’ve miraculously come out low risk. This is obviously good news if it’s the case. I still would like further investigations into why there’s increased fluid. I guess I’ll wait for the letter and go from there. Xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/09/2021 19:30

@Pamparam congratulations! Fingers are crossed for you.

@VixFromThe6ix that's lovely news, congrats on a good scan and finding out you're having a boy!

@Catconfusion hopefully you have come out as low risk

Catconfusion · 18/09/2021 11:53

It’s good news from me. My letter came and my combined risk is 1 in 426. Given my age and the nt measurement I think I’m pleased with that. I still need to speak to the midwife about the increased nt and what that could potentially mean but for now we’re feeling super relieved. Xx

Gummybear17 · 18/09/2021 17:29

@Catconfusion that's great to hear ! You must feel so much better x

Catconfusion · 18/09/2021 18:12

@Gummybear17 I feel so much better. I’m going to seek some advice on Monday about whether it’s worth still doing the harmony or if we can have an extra scan to look at the heart. It seems the nt measurement can be raised for no reason or something could be going on so it’d be good to get it checked out. I don’t really want any horrible surprises at the 20 week scan If we can avoid it. Xx

Noodella18 · 18/09/2021 20:09

@Pamparam ahh great to see you back! I hope this pregnancy goes really smoothly for you, keeping fingers crossed for the next couple of months xx

@Catconfusion glad that you've had a positive result! I had a nipt at 10 weeks and I'm so pleased i did, it's just removed a whole load of anxiety to have a definitive result. Maybe it's worth doing it just to put your mind at rest?

Catconfusion · 18/09/2021 20:27

Thanks @Noodella18 we decided to have the combined test and go from there as the Harmony is free with a high risk result. I had my scan fairly early at 11 plus 5 too. Now it’s come back low chance I’m not sure what we’ll do. I will speak with the hospital on Monday though and discuss the results, in particular the nt measurement. I do feel quite reassured as my bloods must have brilliant to get such a low risk considering the nt was slightly raised and I’m 42. My background chance is 1 in 55 of ds without any tests so it’s much less than that. If I don’t feel reassured by the hospital on Monday we’ll book a private appointment for the Harmony. Xx

Noodella18 · 18/09/2021 20:45

@Catconfusion Ah ok! Well that does sound positive. For me, I wanted to rule it out completely, we have some friends who had a very low chance and still had a little girl with down syndrome. If you're at all worried after your appointment I'd say just go for it xx

Catconfusion · 18/09/2021 20:53

@Noodella18 this is the thing. I know of people this has happened to. It does seem the chance is pretty slim. Hopefully I can get some clarity on how likely it is to have normal bloods and a ds baby. For now I’m just enjoying relaxing and the relief of being low risk. We’ll see how we feel on Monday. Xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 19/09/2021 12:21

@Catconfusion great news on the results, must be a huge relief!

Gummybear17 · 22/09/2021 12:16

@Catconfusion how are you getting on ?

Catconfusion · 22/09/2021 17:26

Thanks @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7

Catconfusion · 22/09/2021 17:34

@Gummybear17 I’m ok thanks. I had a long talk with the screening midwife. She doesn’t think I have anything to worry about. Certainly doesn’t think the baby has Down syndrome. Apparently my Papp A is three times the normal level so I’ve got a good functioning placenta. My hcg is a little raised but nothing to worry about. My bloods certainly don’t fit the profile for a chromosomal abnormality. She did say the higher the nt the more risk of a heart defect. They would not worry about mine as it’s within the normal limit. So I wouldn’t be offered any investigations into why it’s increased until the 20 week scan. Obviously that’s 2 months away. We looked into private heart scans so that would be an option in the interim. It’s about £200 but we’d need to go to London which is two hours away. I’m not sure what we’ll do yet. Certainly feeling a bit more reassured. I also had the chance to complain about the sonographer as well. She apologised on her behalf and admitted her bedside manner isn’t great but she apparently is very good at what she does so I can be confident it’s the right measurement.

Anyway how are you?

Gummybear17 · 22/09/2021 17:45

Good to hear all
Is reassuring. Is London really the only place ? Where about are you based ? I am ok . I have been struggling with nausea and having a permanent disgusting metallic taste in my mouth which is really troublesome, also feeling really tired ( so much for second trimester improvement !). So I got the results of my NIPT last week

Catconfusion · 22/09/2021 18:50

@Gummybear17 I’m so sorry to hear about the nausea. It’s so debilitating. The horrible taste and mouth dryness is something I’ve had too. If men had to have babies I do think they’d go through it twice 😂.

Great you’ve told the kids. How old is your eldest? I bet when the baby comes it’ll all be ok. The thought of it is probably more scary.

Also big congrats on the test results. You must feel so relieved.

I’m in Norfolk and our local hospital doesn’t do private heart scans. From the bit of research I did today it does seem London would be the closest. I’m not sure if we’ll go ahead. We do have a scan booked for 16 weeks at the early pregnancy unit. They won’t check the heart in detail but would refer us on if something looks abnormal so at least we have that coming up if nothing else. My husband isn’t worried at all and can’t understand why I’m concerned when my results are normal. You and I know, even perfect results can lead to bad outcomes so when there’s a raised nt, it is a sign something could be wrong. I know it’s a slim chance considering everything else is good but it’s difficult to put it out of my mind. If I was younger I wouldn’t think twice about it but at 42, we do have an increased chance of heart defects. DH said if I want a heart scan we can get one so I guess we’ll talk when he’s home and go from there. Xx

Gummybear17 · 28/09/2021 22:08

Hey @Catconfusion just checking in . Hope you are well ? X

Catconfusion · 29/09/2021 09:22

Hey @Gummybear17 all ok here thanks. We decided to wait out the 20 week scan. Baby's heart is very small before so any problems might not show up. At least at 20 weeks baby will be bigger. We have an EPAU scan next week to just check well-being so I doubt they'll look in much detail. I will mention the extra fluid and see what they say. I have read loads of research on the nt measurement and I think chances are all will be fine. I'm just trying not to worry about it.

How are you getting on? Xx
