@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it does seem that all precautions go out the window at weddings. We went to one a few weeks ago. People were getting so close to us and everyone was drunk. I was so scared we’d get Covid. It’s so hard to socially distance at these things. Luckily it was fine.

I hope you enjoy yourself nether the less. All you can do is socially distance as much as you can. I’m sure it will be fine. Most people will be double jabbed by now. I know they can still spread it but the viral load will probably be less so less likely to get it or get it badly. Xx

@Katiekattty sounds like you've been really poorly. Glad they checked that baby's definitely okay, and you're on the mend.

@Catconfusion well done going to a wedding with hg! Have to say, yep all precautions were out of the window, everyone was hugged, touched, dancing, talking inches away from faces as music was loud etc. Hopefully it'll be okay, will do a lateral flow when i get home after the after party today

Catconfusion · 07/09/2021 21:20

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I hope the test was clear. It’s so worrying going to events at the moment. My midwife said to not isolate but to only socialise outside if possible and be super careful. I’m going to be a bit more vigilant. My best friend now has Covid and she’s been super careful. Luckily I’d not seen her recently but we were about to meet up.

In other news I had another scan today. Baby is doing very well. Measuring 4cm and 10 weeks plus 5. We’re so pleased. We saw baby holding a hand up near the face. It was so cute. Xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/09/2021 07:46

@Catconfusion it was! Thank you and luckily I'm not ill at all, as some others who went have become very poorly but not Covid. Just other bugs I guess.

Congrats on your scan! Lovely to see

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 07:54

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 aww that’s great news. It’s always nerve wracking being around lots of people. There’s only so much we can do to avoid getting it. I plan on pretty much isolating in the last trimester, especially if I’ve not had a booster vaccine in that time. My midwife said there’s talk of combining the flu jab with a Covid vaccine. I’m not sure it that’ll come to fruition but would be good to feel a bit more covered, especially since the vaccine starts to lose effectiveness after 6 months.

We’re so pleased the scan went ok. We’re 42 so it’s a bit more nerve wracking. I read somewhere that if over 40 and all went well in the first trimester, the risks are similar to a younger women. As I’ve had a previous baby with no complications I’m also lower risk this time for gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and blood clots. We just need to get through the screening tests now.

Xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/09/2021 08:12

@Catconfusion ah well that's good news that you're now much lower risk as you've had a baby already! Must be a relief this time around to know that.

Are you still planning on the nipt?

Get what you mean about isolating a bit more in the weeks before birth, would be horrible to be in labour with coronavirus, partner possibly not there, and feeling awful for exposing the midwifes etc

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 09:49

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes definitely feel a bit more reassured. Obviously I am a couple of years older too so we’ll just have to see.

I’m my area the nipt is offered if it’s a high risk result on the combined test. My 12 week scan is next week at 11 plus 5 so pretty early. I think we’ll just see what the results show. It is a worry that the nhs tests aren’t quite as accurate. I know someone who was told it was low risk and her baby has Down syndrome. I’m not sure what odds she was given but it was a shock. I guess I’d just like to know as early as possible if there are any problems. Xx

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 08/09/2021 10:05

I'm 37 FTM. 29 weeks today.

Gummybear17 · 08/09/2021 11:13

Ladies . I am being irrational I had my 12 week scan on Thursday. I have had my results back 1:3600 for T21 1:1000000 for T13/T18 so I should be pleased but I am not feeling reassured. It's prob because my last risks were 1:12000 and 1:32000 but I was 10 and 6 years younger then . At 39 I should be really pleased. Thinking of NIPT what would you do ?

Gummybear17 · 08/09/2021 11:14

Sorry I should have said chance not risk x

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 11:23

@Gummybear17 those are really good results. I would be happy with those. My first baby was 1:1500 for ds but I was 40. He was perfectly fine. As you get older the numbers will get lower because your maternal risk is higher due to age. It often has nothing to do with the baby. If you want to get more certainty you could have the nipt.

I’ve known people to have much higher risk like 1:18 and 1:44 but the baby was fine so even high risk results don’t mean something is wrong. Xx

Katiekattty · 08/09/2021 11:32

My numbers were a lot lower than those and I’m 38. My letter said they didn’t see any cause for concern and nothing as shown up on my anomaly scan besides a stubborn baby so i’m going with it.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/09/2021 11:43

@Gummybear17 I'd be happy with those numbers. But also look at nuchal measurement and the two bloods (hcg and Papp-a). Sometimes the bloods being a little out affects your results, but your nuchal measurement against crown rump can be very good on the scale so all fine.
I did get an nipt as my combined test was done at 14 weeks and so not very accurate. It turns out my Papp-A was what skewed my results (still v low risk screening but not the massively low risk you mentioned for your 1st pregnancy). But my nuchal fold against crown rump put me in a low centile - spoke to the private nipt dr about it after and he was really happy with it. But the nipt results were confirmed very low.

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 13:34

@Gummybear17 I agree with @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that it would be worth looking at the individual measurements and blood test items. It might help ease your mind. Xx

Gummybear17 · 08/09/2021 13:44

@Catconfusion @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I have not got those results yet . I called the hospital to discuss NIPT as they used to do it there but now they only offer if high risk . And they told me over the phone . Will check other values when the letter comes . Thank you x

Catconfusion · 08/09/2021 15:39

@Gummybear17 you might need to call the midwife to get the other values. Xx

Gummybear17 · 11/09/2021 17:54

So
NT-1.7
CRL - 62.8cm
Papp a - 1.52
Hcg- 1.66

I am guessing it's the raised HCG that has given me the higher risk than last time x

Catconfusion · 11/09/2021 18:18

@Gummybear17 glad you got the results. Isn’t 1 normal for hcg. I only know that because a friend of mine had an hcg of 4 so it was 4x normal. She had some other tests but her baby was fine. It doesn’t sound massively raised to me. I’d speak to the midwife if you’re still worried. Your results look great to me. Xx

Gummybear17 · 13/09/2021 10:27

Had the NIPT yesterday. They did another brief scan and said all looks well. Hopefully results will be back as soon as and I can start to relax a bit more . How are you lovely ladies doing this week ? X

Catconfusion · 13/09/2021 10:45

@Gummybear17 that’s great news, I’m sure it will be fine. X

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow. I’m so nervous, mainly due to being in my 40s. I know our chances are really good even at our age but I still worry. With ds I had just turned 40 and everything was great at this stage. We even got low risk results which I didn’t expect due to age. I’m hoping it’s the same this time. The scan I had last week looked great and baby is measuring ahead so seems to be growing well. I’m hoping that’s a sign all is ok. X

Gummybear17 · 13/09/2021 11:05

@Catconfusion I will be thinking about you . I am sure all will be great . I can't wait until we are all a few more weeks down the line and hopefully can be more relaxed. I love having someone to talk to about all this who understands what it feels like. I still have not really told anybody and it's getting harder to hide my belly as I am normally quite slim !! Let me know how it goes !! X

Katiekattty · 13/09/2021 12:23

@Gummybear17 I’m sure all will fine.

I have a very wiggly baby these days and his kicks are getting stronger. We’re still going through the hell that is conveyancing so haven’t bought any of the big things yet. I’m seeing my midwife next week and I’ll be asking for a consultant appointment so I know where I stand with my fibroid, I’ve seen other people post on here with fibroids smaller than mine in roughly the same area but have already gotten a birth plan. I’d rather know where I stand now and if things improve than all the better.

Catconfusion · 13/09/2021 12:23

Thank you @Gummybear17 we’re quite hopeful considering our three early scans were good. Sometimes I wish I was ten years younger, low risk and blissfully unaware of what can go wrong.

It’s lovely to talk about it. Sometimes people in real life don’t quite understand. Is there someone you trust you can confide in? I’d say your chances are excellent all will be fine. The rate of babies being born healthily after a positive 12 week scan is extremely high.

I’ve had to tell close friends and family because my tummy popped really early as my ds is only 17 months. I think my body has resorted back to being pregnant easily. Also I have hyperemesis so I’ve been really ill. It was just easier to tell people.

It won’t be long before we can both relax a bit more. Xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 14/09/2021 12:07

@Noodella18 and @VixFromThe6ix do you have your 20 week scans soon? Mine is in a couple days, and I'm feeling very nervous. Wondered if you both are, or if I need to just try to chill out and be less anxious! 😬

Noodella18 · 14/09/2021 12:21

Hey @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 ! Good to hear from you. Yeah mine is on Monday. Tbh having done the nipt I feel quite chill about it, but then this is my second (and I take sertraline!) Sorry to hear you're feeling anxious. I'm sure everything will be fine, but totally get why you would be worried. Good luck, let us know how it goes xx
