Hi everyone, can I join please?

I’m 36 and 11+2 with baby no 2. I have a DS who is 5. I’ve had a mc back in 2016 at 7 weeks and a cp in 2018. DH and I had completely given up trying about a year and a half ago so this pregnancy was a big shock, but very much wanted.

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 14:45

@CarbsafterMarbs welcome and I’m so sorry it’s been such a tough journey. Congratulations on your pregnancy. Will you have you 12 week scan soon? Xx

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 14:46

@Room4onemore they should be bending over backwards to see you as you’re pregnant with an infection. I really hope you get it sorted. Xx

CarbsafterMarbs · 26/07/2021 15:04

Hi @Catconfusion. I have my 12 week scan two weeks today so I’ll be 13+2 then. The time just seems to be going so slowly since I got my letter about my dating scan. I’ll also have extra growth scans as I have chronic kidney disease (18% function before I was pregnant but has gone up to 21% now) I’m also on 150mg of aspirin to help prevent preeclampsia. I’m praying that I’ll have a trouble free pregnancy and this baby will like I did with DS and that s/he will continue to grow as they should.

How far along are you? Xx

CarbsafterMarbs · 26/07/2021 15:06

Sorry @Catconfusionive just seen your post from 24th and that you’re 4 weeks. I’m sorry about your previous losses xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 26/07/2021 16:46

@VixFromThe6ix yay that's amazing news!! So pleased for you and good luck for the tests!

@CarbsafterMarbs congrats that's lovely!

@Catconfusion I'm on 400 of folate too, but taking one with methyl-folate which is more absorbable so I'm not topping it up further. I think Proceive is methyl-folate also, from when I used to take that.

My scan isn't until I'm over 13 weeks also, so next week- feels like a looong wait

Catconfusion · 27/07/2021 05:35

@CarbsafterMarbs it sounds like they’re keeping an extra eye on you. It’s such a nerve wracking time. Yes only 4 weeks plus 2 and a bit anxious after the three losses. I certainly didn’t get this far before and such strong positive tests. Also lots of symptoms. Hoping you will be plain sailing after your scan. Xx

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes proceive is methyl-folate which is one of the reasons I chose it. I probably need to just relax and stop trying to find other things I can do to support this pregnancy. I’m probably doing all I can. Xx

Catconfusion · 27/07/2021 05:37

Today I officially missed AF and am 4 weeks plus 2. My tummy is huge. I look about 20 weeks so hiding this pregnancy will be hard. Has anyone else had problems with this is the early days? Being summer I can’t just put a baggy jumper on. Xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/07/2021 08:26

@Catconfusion I find the methyl folate ones are always the expensive ones! Have spent a fortune on vitamins each month 😬

Catconfusion · 27/07/2021 08:28

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes definitely expensive. Luckily my Dad is helping out with the vitamins. It’s cheaper than ttc with the ubiquinol etc. Xx

Applecrumble24 · 27/07/2021 09:35

@Catconfusion
I looked about 6 months pregnant almost instantly and people guessed way before I wanted to tell anyone! it went down slightly around 10 weeks but it's still obvious. I'm now 12 weeks and long into maternity clothes, I'm going to be huge! 😂

CarbsafterMarbs · 27/07/2021 10:01

@Catconfusion yes I was like this at the very beginning, it was one of the reasons I ended up testing. I had been working out and calorie counting so was a little confused why my stomach looked so big xx

Catconfusion · 27/07/2021 10:37

Thanks ladies, it’s crazy how big it is. I was showing really early with ds but not like this. I guess it’s muscle memory from last time. Xx

Catconfusion · 02/08/2021 11:18

Hey everyone, how are you getting on? Just wondered if anyone has any tips for dealing with anxiety before scans. We have our first one next week and I’m swinging from feeling like everything will be fine to feeling like it’ll be bad news. Of course it’s so difficult to know how it will go. I have no signs anything is wrong: lots of symptoms and no cramping or bleeding. I guess the mmc I had with my first ever pregnancy two and a half years ago has me spooked as I was vomiting every day and no sign anything was wrong. Early pregnancy is tough! Xx

Bladette84 · 03/08/2021 20:52

Hey guys, 17 weeks and absolutely not glowing! Today I ended up in A&E with dehydration after passing out twice at work. I’m ok and home after 2 iv bags of fluid. Too early to check Bean with Doppler but no pain or bleeding so they weren’t worried. Lesson learnt : drink more!
In other news, had first perinatal counselling to help deal with anxiety and still waiting for physio referral for PGP.
I have waited so long for this baby and I love them so so much but pregnancy is a bit sucky!

Catconfusion · 04/08/2021 06:04

Oh no @Bladette84 I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been unwell. Thank goodness the IV fluids did the trick and you’re home. Also sorry to hear about the anxiety. Is it specifically around pregnancy or a general issue? I hope the counselling helps. I’m wondering if I need something like that. After 5 losses I’m really struggling some days. Thankfully all is going well so far but it’s that horrible feeling that it could just be ripped away at any moment that I’m finding hard to deal with. Xx

Bladette84 · 04/08/2021 08:26

@Catconfusion I have struggled with anxiety for a couple of years now but it’s been getting worse since falling pregnant as we have waited a long time for this baby. I would always recommend getting help when you need it x

Catconfusion · 05/08/2021 06:59

@Bladette84 pregnancy is such an anxious time. I’m sorry to hear it was a difficult journey for you. Congratulations on your little one. It sounds like things are going well.

I’m not sure I need help just finding it hard at times. Today I woke up with extreme nausea so that was reassuring. I definitely feel really pregnant now. Sadly though I know from experience, symptoms don’t necessarily mean all is well. My scan is on Tuesday so we’ll know more then. I do generally have a good feeling about this pregnancy. I just wish I was more naive about what can happen. I’m also 42 years old so I know there’s a bit more chance of something going wrong. Xx

Catconfusion · 05/08/2021 07:03

Can I ask if anyone else on here is in their 40s? I was 40 when I had my son and I’m now 42 with this pregnancy so I’ve started a family late. I didn’t really feel pregnancy was different the first time around. I just had more scans. So far I’m getting pregnancy symptoms much earlier and feel very fatigued. Not sure if that’s age or just it being a different pregnancy. I did joke to DH about it being twins as we found out at 8dpo. Hopefully just signs it’s all progressing. Xx

Rachy11 · 05/08/2021 07:17

Hiya can I join? Just got my BFP this morning with baby number 2. Im 4+1. Actually in shock as thought all my symptoms were AF. So, so happy but already feeling anxious. Im 37 xx

Catconfusion · 05/08/2021 09:13

Congratulations @Rachy11 such lovely news. Early pregnancy is such an anxious time but I think it helps to talk about it. Just take each day as it comes and tell yourself, today I’m pregnant. Xx

MrsArrison · 05/08/2021 12:07

Hi everyone. I'm 5+2 with my very first pregnancy, found out last week after I had to cancel my fertility blood testing due to period not arriving. 6 tests later... several BFPs!

We both spent the first couple of days in complete shock and disbelief. This has turned into excitement for my husband, and complete mental torture for me. I'm driving myself insane with anxiety as I'm high risk (I turn 40 in 4 weeks, I have severe PCOS, I'm 10 months out from gastric bypass surgery, and despite having lost 6st, my BMI is just still in the obese category). My GP has tried to reassure me, but has been quite clear that there is literally nothing I can do at this stage to change the outcome.

I'm testing every morning still and seeing that line darken, and my Clearblues have progressed from 1-2 weeks to 2-3 weeks. The only pregnancy symptoms I have so far are peeing constantly and being absolutely shattered - getting up in the night 3 or 4 times to pee isn't helping this, nor is the constant fretting.

How are you all not driving yourselves insane?! I've booked myself an early viability scan when I will be 6+6 with Ultrasound Direct (they're based next to my GP's surgery and I've heard good things about them) but I honestly don't know how I'm to get through the next 9 days!

Catconfusion · 05/08/2021 12:25

Aww @MrsArrison congratulations. I can appreciate you’re worried but all signs are looking good so far. All you can do is take it day by day. Even high risk pregnancies have a good chance of progressing. Try not to worry too much about age. I had my ds at 40 and I didn’t have any age related issues. This time I’m 42 so I’m trying to eat low carb and low sugar just in case I develop gestational diabetes.

I think your GP is right, there’s nothing more you can do but hope for the best. It’s such a good sign you’ve missed AF and are now waiting for your scan. As long as no severe cramping or bleeding your chances are good. Of course nothing is guaranteed in early pregnancy but with each day that passes your chances improve.

I’m currently 5 plus 4 and have my scan on Tuesday. I’m nervous but excited. I have a experienced losses in the past but most were before the 5 week mark so I think it’s a good milestone. Fingers crossed for us both! Xx

MrsArrison · 05/08/2021 12:55

Thanks @catconfusion. I do realise that I'm being slightly irrational but honestly, the waiting is killing me. I don't know how I will cope if this pregnancy goes to term Grin

Fingers and toes crossed for us both, and anyone else waiting on news and scans.

Catconfusion · 05/08/2021 13:49

@MrsArrison it’s totally understandable. I think most people worry in early pregnancy and if there are any extra risk factors, it just makes it worse. Just find something that gives you some peace. Whether that’s a nice walk or watching something on Netflix. Just anything that gets you out of your own head.

It’s so good you’ve fallen pregnant naturally. I have long irregular cycles and before my first pregnancy had no idea I even ovulated. So it’s been a shock to fall as easily as I have. I think our bodies want to carry babies and sometimes these things just happen and are meant to be. Xx
