@Catconfusion that's lovely news! Congratulations

Catconfusion · 24/07/2021 12:32

Aww thanks @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 with the added bonus that I got pregnant with ds at the same time of year so have all of the season appropriate clothes. Most are unisex too so shouldn’t need much.

We’re just trying to let it sink in today and hoping all goes well this time. Xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 25/07/2021 11:01

@Catconfusion hope it all goes well too.

@VixFromThe6ix I just wondered how you are? If you're in this one still

MgW1 · 25/07/2021 12:33

Im still on here , 11+2 and so far so good after 3 miscarriages. Got my dating scan on 3rd and hopefully will feel reassured , wont be having anymore after this one so want to enjoy it! How is everyone else? X

MissL85 · 25/07/2021 12:42

Got my second early scan at 8 weeks and 6 days on Tuesday. I had one at 6 weeks and they found a heartbeat. I'm really anxious that they're not going to find a heartbeat or there will be another issue.

VixFromThe6ix · 25/07/2021 15:12

Hi ladies! @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thanks for remembering me ❤️
We had our 12 week scan on Thursday and it showed that baby is moving and heartbeat is strong. We are hoping the test results will be good too. 🤞🤞🤞
Haven't been pushing much because till this scan all I did was worry and feel like total garbage with my bloating. So nothing to write about haha didn't wanna just keep complaining.
Glad to see new faces, congratulations! And old ones ❤️❤️❤️

Room4onemore · 25/07/2021 15:37

Hi can I join please
I’m 38 and this will be baby number 8, I have 6 at home and my angel baby boy. I’m 20 weeks now and got my 20 week scan on Wednesday 😬

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 08:09

Hi everyone, can I just ask how much folate/folic acid everyone is on? I was just on a ttc thread and a few people were taking 800ug. This seems like a lot. I’m currently taking Proceive prenatal supplement and it has 400ug of folate in. Obviously this is the recommended amount to have but I just wondered if anyone is taking more and for what reason? Does being older mean we need more? My bmi is below 30 and my diet is reasonably healthy. Xx

Room4onemore · 26/07/2021 08:31

I’ve been taking seven seas that has iron in it but my consultant prescribed me with 200mg

I'm taking Healthy Start vitamins that my midwife recommended. I'm getting 400 per tablet.
Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 10:18

Thanks @Room4onemore is that 200ug of folate on top of the recommended 400ug. If so can I ask why you are taking extra? I’m just a bit confused as to why some people are on more. Maybe I should call the midwife and ask. I didn’t know if she was a factor. Xx

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 10:20

@MissL85 thank you. It does seem 400ug is the norm. It certainly was fine when I had ds. I’m now 42 though and want to do everything I can to give this pregnancy the best start. Xx

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 10:26

Can I also ask if anyone else if 42 plus? I’ve just turned 42 and it does seem some of the risks increase at this age. How are you all feeling about how age might affect the pregnancy? I’d just turned 40 when I fell pregnant with ds and also I had concerns, the risks didn’t seem that high.

Well I’m 4 weeks plus 1 today and have a very blazing bfp today so it’s looking like I’m here to stay. (I hope) 🙂. Xx

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 10:27

@Room4onemore *if age is a factor

Room4onemore · 26/07/2021 10:49

No I was taking seven seas I’m not sure how much that has in it, he just said my iron levels were on the low side so to take this. I’m going to stop the seven seas cause I need to take aspirin as well

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 10:56

@Room4onemore I’m taking aspirin too. Is the seven seas a pregnancy supplement? Does it have negative affects with aspirin because I thought you could pretty much take it with everything. Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get my head around the supplements. Xx

Room4onemore · 26/07/2021 11:03

No idea lol. I’m on antibiotics at the minute for a tooth infection so I’m only taking my seven seas just incase. When I’ve finished my antibiotics I’ll just take the aspirin and iron tablets then ask the midwife. I have to speak to her anyway cause I need to take aspirin until 36 weeks but they are giving me blood thinning injections for 28 weeks, I thought aspirin was a blood thinner as well so I need to double check that’s ok to take together

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 11:11

@Room4onemore I’m so sorry to hear you’ve got a tooth infection. I had one a few weeks ago which ended up being an extraction last week, just after I found out I was pregnant. I was so scared it would affect the pregnancy but luckily ok. Do you think they will do a root canal or remove it? I think the hormones make these things so much worse.

My understanding is the aspirin and the injections are for two slightly different reasons. Aspirin helps prevent preeclampsia which happens more in older mums and the heparin injections help prevent blood clots if there are risk factors. I was on aspirin with ds but was also offered the injections as he was a very big baby and my bump was huge. I turned it down because I didn’t really feel my blood clot risk was high as I was younger and slimmer. I’m carrying a bit more weight this time. Just below 30 bmi so I think I’ll take the injections if they’re offered. I had them after my c section and were quite easy. Xx

Room4onemore · 26/07/2021 11:41

They want to do a root canal but I don’t really want it doing while I’m pregnant so will see if I can have it done in the new year. He has given me 150mg of aspirin a day

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 12:21

@Room4onemore just be really careful if it’s infected. If the infection gets worse it can cause pregnancy complications. I was told once infected it’ll keep coming back. That’s why I had mine out just after I got a positive test. Once out they told me a root canal wouldn’t have worked anyway in my case so glad I did it. I think treatments are safe in the second trimester. They just worry a bit before 12 weeks as the organs are forming.

I think 150mg is the dose for prevent preeclampsia so sounds about right. I’m just on 75 at the moment as taking to prevent mc. I will up the dose after the 12 week scan. Xx

Room4onemore · 26/07/2021 12:44

Thanks, I’m on day 5 of antibiotics and it seems to be going, I’m waiting for my exemption certificate then I will book in and see how it is. I had to go private for the emergency appointment so I will go to my normal dentist, if I can get an appointment

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 12:54

@Room4onemore good it’s feeling better. Mine was gone for two weeks after antibiotics and then it came back again hence the extraction. Does your dentist require a certificate? My dentist treated me for free on my word I’m pregnant. Xx

Room4onemore · 26/07/2021 13:00

I had to go to a private dentist, it’s £500 for a root canal

Catconfusion · 26/07/2021 13:21

@Room4onemore I see. Is your usual dentist nhs? If so hopefully they can treat you. It’s so difficult with dentists during Covid. Xx

Room4onemore · 26/07/2021 13:23

Yes it’s an nhs dentist, I’ll give them a ring and see when the next appointment is available
