Hi ladies can I join in?
Currently 6 weeks today with # 3. Had 3 miscarriages and under Miscarriage clinic. Had early scan today and all looks fine for 6 weeks , no heart beat yet but still early. I have another scan in 3 weeks time. X

Waiting4holidays · 14/06/2021 18:57

@stripytiger09 no this will be my 3rd baby 🤞🏻
Someone else was asking about nausea, I haven’t had any yet. I think the thing to remember is, we always hear about people’s symptoms but we don’t hear much about the successful pregnancies with no symptoms-sickness/pgp etc, so try not to worry just because you haven’t got symptoms 😘

MrsBlue1986 · 14/06/2021 19:16

6 weeks bang on and I felt fine this morning....and since late afternoon I've felt quite sick. Couldn't stomach my dinner!!!! 🤢

SBfern · 14/06/2021 19:41

I'm 6 + 1 and I've been unable to keep anything down before 10am for atleast a week already!

Amy00 · 14/06/2021 20:45

Hi everyone! I'm 4+1 today with EDD 20 Feb. This will be my 5th pregnancy although sadly all the previous ones have ended in early losses. I'm under the recurrent miscarriage clinic now and am on the progesterone pessaries like you @Sophiederuges and @MrsBlue1986 but not on the aspirin - my consultant said my blood tests indicated I shouldn't take it. The Cyclogest is a bit of a nightmare with leakage isn't it!!

I'm getting an early NHS scan at 6+6 but I'm so anxious that I might book one at 5+6ish for the extra reassurance. I just think I'd rather know ASAP if anything was wrong so we can move on that much quicker and be less attached... has anyone else had a scan at just under 6 weeks and seen anything? @MrsBlue1986 that is fab news on yours!! Congratulations 😊

PeonyBlushSuede · 14/06/2021 20:58

When did everyone's symptoms kick in?

I'm 4+1 at the moment and not had any nausea or symptoms - a bit of a congested nose but that's it.

Baby number 1 for me and I'm an anxious person generally. Considering if it's worth paying for an early scan. Window to womb is near me - my husbands not sure. What's the best sort of time weeks wise

MrsBlue1986 · 14/06/2021 21:05

@Amy00 Hey, congrats! You sound like you're in the exact same boat as me! I also have had 4 previous miscarriages. What weeks did you have them?

Yeh taking cyclogest is a bit gross isn't it 🤣🤣

I know what you mean about early reassurance. I went to a private company on Friday when I was 5+5 and they only did an abdominal scan (not internal) and at that point they could see the gestational and yolk sac - so then had the internal scan today with the early pregnancy unit which confirmed a 2mm little embryo and a flicker of a pulse starting (today being 6+1)

However I also have an appt with my private fertility clinic tomorrow who still want to see me anyway.

I say if it puts your mind at rest, get a scan but, a lot of private baby companies don't seem to scan under 8 weeks and if they do then its abdominal only (from what I've found anyway!) So in hindsight I didn't really gain much from fridays scan. Could you not ask epau to scan you at 6? Xx

Tabbycat92 · 14/06/2021 21:45

@Waiting4holidays totally agree. I had zero symptoms with DS and my pregnancy was perfect!

swiggles · 14/06/2021 21:50

Aaaw sending lots of Thanksto everyone, MCs are so tough to go through 💜
I had no symptoms during the first couple of trimesters with DD however developed obstetric choleostasis in my third. Really worried about that rearing it's ugly head as I've heard of people getting symptoms from 8 weeks- anyone in a similar boat? I've heard it's a bit more common than initially thought!

MgW1 · 14/06/2021 22:51

@Amy00
Hi i am under recurrent mc clinic. On fri ( 5+4) they couldnt find anything but today ( 6w ) there was a sac & yolk. Id opt for blood tests first and get a scan at 6 w x

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/06/2021 00:17

@Amy00 at 5 weeks one day saw a sac and a yolk. I don't know where you are based but around me in London there are plenty of private scans that do v early transvaginal scans. You'll prob only see anything with transvaginal.

I'm aiming to go again for another scan at 7 weeks to 🤞 see the heartbeat. If you see a heartbeat at 8 weeks though, the chances of miscarriage drop to 2%, so I'll try to wait as long as I can

Greymalkin12 · 15/06/2021 07:38

Congratulations to everyone and sorry to those who have experienced miscarriages. At what stage have you told the gp / midwife service about the pregnancy? I'm at 4 week 5 days and there's part of me thinking this is too early - at the same time I've had miscarriages in autumn 2020 and March this year so want to make sure this one is logged if anything goes wrong so that they can look for reasons.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/06/2021 07:50

Hi @Greymalkin12 depends on your area, mine is a self refer to midwife online. I filled mine out at about 5.5/6 weeks and was sent an appointment for when I'm about eight and a half weeks.
For me, the miscarriage letter that EPU gave to me to give to my GP put it on my record.

Tabbycat92 · 15/06/2021 08:34

Hey @Greymalkin12 I booked in just after 5 weeks as wanted to get past the 5week mark as I MCd at 5weeks last time. But your way of thinking makes more sense actually in getting logged just in case! I don't think it really matters when you register.

choccrumpet · 15/06/2021 08:59

Do any of you have a bicornuate uterus? General googling & what my GP said before was that my pregnancy would be considered high risk and I might get more monitoring/scans. I don't know if that means I would get an earlier scan than normal though. I wonder if my process would be slightly different. I'll contact my gp later on this week to see what they say.

Miller2021 · 15/06/2021 09:04

@Greymalkin12 I asked the same question earlier in the thread, and decided to just phone my GP as the process differs so much around the country. My GP receptionist gave me the midwife's number to call at the 7-week mark, but your mileage will vary. If this is your first pregnancy (as it is mine), just phone the GP and they'll tell you what to do and when.

Sophiederuges · 15/06/2021 09:12

Oh @MrsBlue1986 you’ve had your fair share of heartache Sad My mmc was at 10 weeks too. Call me naïve but I had no idea they existed…

I’ve been on the cyclogest for almost 2 weeks now. I had a 7dpo progesterone test done and my levels were very low. Because it’s difficult to know exactly when progesterone peaks anyway, the consultant gave me the cyclogest as it can’t harm the pregnancy. I can’t relax though. I’m over analysing everything, despite being fully aware it is not healthy.

We see a private consultant too. I knew the NHS wouldn’t help until after 3 mc (especially since we already have a child). I can’t wait that long, I’m in my late 30s so we decided to throw everything we could at it.

Sophiederuges · 15/06/2021 09:14

@Amy00 Yes, the pessaires make a right mess! So now I’m taking them rectally. Not very agreeable but at least, there’s no mess. It’s giving me a bit of trouble though (I won’t go into details but you can imagine!). You also have to time it around bowel movements. How much are you taking a day?

Amy00 · 15/06/2021 09:26

Hi @MrsBlue1986 what a boat to be in! I had my losses at:

c.7 weeks mc (many years ago)
5w mc in 2019
8w mmc in sep 2020 (discovered at 8w scan but there was no embryo just a sac so it had stopped very early)
Chemical in nov 2020

It has taken what feels like an age to get pregnant again this time.

I think using the back door for the pessaries is actually less messy! Tried it this morning and while it isn't nice putting it in, is much less messier so hopefully I'm absorbing more of it!!

After posting yesterday I actually went and booked a private scan at 5+6 which will be a week before the EPU one. Only 11 long days to go... 😬 they will def do a dildo cam scan so hopefully should be able to see something. It's my EPU policy they will only scan you at 7 weeks earliest.

@MrsBlue1986 hope your appointment goes well today.

@swiggles apologies for my ignorance but what is obstetric choleostasis? Is it likely to recur for you again do you know?

Hi @MgW1 sorry to hear you are under the RMC too, I hope we both sail through these pregnancies 🤞 that is great they saw a sac and yolk 😊 will you be having another scan?

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'm based near Cambridge and the scan place I'm booked at will do the transvaginal scan, I'm going back to the same place where I got the bad news last year at my 8w scan - I'm hoping it's not going to bring back too many bad memories 😬 when is your 7w scan? I like those odds - we just need to hang on until 8 weeks!

@Greymalkin12 you can contact them whenever you want, I think policy is different depending on location. I'm mainly dealing with the EPU now as they have me down for recurrent miscarriages. But previously I have contacted the GP at about 5 weeks.

@choccrumpet what is a bicornuate uterus? I feel like I have so much to learn! How many weeks are you? Maybe you'd be better off contacting the GP or EPU sooner rather than later so they can get you booked in if necessary?

Amy00 · 15/06/2021 09:32

@Sophiederuges and @MrsBlue1986 are the private consultants giving you any additional treatment or tests other than extra scans and progesterone?

@Sophiederuges omg up the bum is actually way better 😂 but yes know what you mean it's not convenient wherever you shove it! I'm taking 200mg twice a day which from googling seems like a fairly low dose as a lot of ladies are put on 400mg twice a day, but hopefully it is helping. What is your dose?

Huffthepuff · 15/06/2021 09:46

@choccrumpet yes me! 👋 only discovered when I was being scanned for my ectopic a couple of years ago. It didn't get spotted in my successful pregnancy of DS as they presume the baby just pushed to one side or the other so you can't see the divide anymore if that makes sense? Google has got me freaked out though now I know about it as I've had a few early miscarriages in the last couple of years which I wonder are related. GP reluctant to do much though as I've already had a successful pregnancy. How did you find out about yours?

Ive got my scan at 11 today. If all is well in there I'll ask them if it needs any special monitoring due to the BU and let you know (don't think it will)

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/06/2021 09:53

@Amy00 ah no I hope it doesn't bring back too many bad memories. I'm really sorry for all your losses. I'm thinking I'll try and hold out until the end of next week if I can as I'll be almost 8 weeks then (and it's more convenient for work!). Time is actually going quite quickly atm, and I think it's because things have opened up again so there's more to do!

The pessaries chat has been eye opening 😂 what a faff but glad you've all found a better less messy way to do it

choccrumpet · 15/06/2021 09:57

@Amy00 good luck on your scan, hope it goes well for you! A bicornuate uterus is a heart shaped uterus, sounds nice but actually isn't. Sometimes they have a divide going through the middle so it means the baby has less room to move around, might result in other issues, 2nd semester miscarriage etc etc but that's worst case of course. Nothing for you to worry about unless you've got one yourself but google tells me they're pretty rare!

@Huffthepuff nice to know I'm not the only one! Yep don't google, it's all worse case scenarios, I've heard of lots of women (online) having successful pregnancies with no issues because of the shape. I found out about mine in my last ultrasound when they were checking my uterus and ovaries for any issues (none were found except for the bicornuate uterus) and they didn't give me any more info frustratingly so I don't know how severe or not it is!! The tech said it's heart shaped so I can only hope it's just that without a massive divide.

Good luck with your scan! It's positive that your first pregnancy went really well by the sound of it! Early miscarriages are apparently not related to it but who really knows. I've had a few chemicals so I do wonder. How far along are you?

Huffthepuff · 15/06/2021 10:06

@choccrumpet I'm 6+2, how about you?
I've actually been told it was a bicornuate uterus on one occasion and a septate uterus on another. I trust the diagnosis of the sonographer that called it septate more that the other actually so maybe that's what I have. But BU is what is written on my records. I actually don't think many EPU staff or GPs know much about them. It's all been very vague when I've asked for more info!
When will you register with the midwife?

choccrumpet · 15/06/2021 10:25

@Huffthepuff I think I'm 4+5 but am not 100% it's been worked out correctly so I think around that or a bit earlier. That's interesting and I agree that my GP doesn't seem to know much about it, I'm not sure about EPU as I haven't had any contact with them yet. This is my first pregnancy so I really don't know what the process is yet so want to speak to my GP this week, maybe tomorrow and see if they can tell me what I should be doing. I was just about to start my investigations for recurrent chemicals so I'm not sure if they'll want to continue with me or not. When did you contact a midwife?
