Hi ladies, I just found out I'm pregnant 4 weeks 1 day just seeing if there's any other newly pregnant who are as excited, terrified, elated, and shocked as I am 😂🤰🏻💕 Due Jan 30th 2022 🤞🤞🤞

@ChelleV from what I've seen of friend babies, you can never have enough muslins. Don't blame you for stocking up!

SouthwestSis · 02/07/2021 18:43

My sickness has been really up and down, some days are fine and others are rotten, there really does seem to be no pattern to it!
We've told my work, one set of parents and my sister, I'd want support even if everything didn't go well with the pregnancy and I got to tell my dad on father's day which was amazing.
We are gonna try as much as poss to get second hand stuff for baby rather than buy new, so many baby clothes end up in landfill and they grow so quickly at the start they are hardly in anything for more than a few weeks, plus most of my friends starting having their babies a few years ago so plenty of hand me downs coming my way!

sociallydistained · 02/07/2021 18:51

Dinner tonight is veggie sausages and beans on toast. Beans and bread have been the one consistent in this pregnancy so far!

Kayl23 · 03/07/2021 09:05

@SouthwestSis I'm totally with you on buying second hand for newborns! That's my plan too, like you say they just grow so fast and will only be wearing some things for a few weeks. I've looked on eBay and you can get some really good bundles, though I'm not sure how I feel about buying them from someone I don't know/don't know what their house is like. I don't want that to sound snobby!! But I'd feel better about putting my baby in clothes where I know where they have come from. My sister has a boy and a girl who will be 4 and 2 when baby arrives so I'm hoping she has some clothes to pass down!

On another note - I have been pretty quiet on here recently but my partner proposed last week! And we may well be crazy but we're hoping to book the wedding for October 2022 😂 so if anyone has any advice on planning a wedding with a newborn please do let me know! Also not entirely sure yet what to do with the baby at the wedding given that they will be about 7 months old... I feel like that's a little too young to leave them sat at the bar on their own while we get married 🤔

sociallydistained · 03/07/2021 09:11

Congrats on the engagement @Kayl23! Could you put your mum or mother in law in charge of the baby or whoever who will have already built a close bond with baby over those 7 months? I think it’ll be fine!

I am also buying mostly second hand. I am also considering cloth nappies because I did them in my first nanny job and have a real soft spot for all the designs. There’s a local nappy library who loan out kits to get you started low cost. Of course I don’t even have a home for the baby yet let alone a massive washing machine and the facilities to wash and store them Hmm but I hope to try if I do move out of this one bed!

One of my friends who I told has a 2 year old and will try again in a year or so for another but is going to lend us all her baby stuff which is great! We’ll get an idea what’s essential and what we don’t actually need then I think! Shes got the night time instant bottle warmer and lots of gadgets like that I would never want to spend out on 😂

thecapitalsunited · 03/07/2021 09:39

I’m hoping not to buy too much for baby. I know I’m likely to get more clothes than I can shake a stick at because it’s the first grandchild on both sides. DH and I are both fairly basic people so I don’t think we will go in for all the gadgets. Having said that our dog has more toys than most kids!

I’ve also thought about cloth nappies. I was already using reusable sanitary protection and I don’t use a lot of one use plastics. The advice everywhere seems to be hang fire until the baby is here but I feel like not getting used to disposables would be preferable. So not sure what to do about it really.

Alle1991 · 03/07/2021 12:09

@Kayl23 Congratulations on your engagement.

Thanks for your messages yesterday and the reassurance, the sore boobs and slight nausea has returned!

Hope you all have a good weekend x

Kayl23 · 04/07/2021 08:45

Morning everyone! I know quite a few of us are turning 10 weeks today, or around now! Wondered how you're all feeling mentally? I'm finding it very reassuring being in double digits now and so close to 12 weeks. My anxiety has done a complete 360 and disappeared completely - to the point that I'm now less anxious than I was pre pregnancy, infact I'm probably the least anxious I've been in about 10 years 😂 I'm wondering if it's because I'm spending so much time thinking about the little prawn that I have no time left to worry about anything else. It's good though ☺️

Kayl23 · 04/07/2021 08:46

@sociallydistained @Alle1991 thank you ☺️ I can't quite believe it but yes I think having a designated babysitter at the wedding is the only way it's really going to work!!

sociallydistained · 04/07/2021 10:11

I’ve woken up with a painful stitch in my lower right side. I’ve read it’s normal but it’s a bit worrying as so far I’ve not had this (maybe in the early weeks when I didn’t know I was pregnant I had something similar but wasn’t worried!). We’re off out for the afternoon with friends (who don’t know) which involves some walking so it’s typical!

Kayl23 · 04/07/2021 15:49

@sociallydistained Try not to worry, I've had stitch like feelings quite frequently but apparently it's a good sign as it means things are stretching and moving into place ready for the baby grow x

sociallydistained · 04/07/2021 18:13

Thank you! It went away and I’ve been fine for most of the day but it is back a bit now. I’m trying not to stress. My washing machine appears to of broken and I’m just like it’ll be okaaaaaayy 🙈

expectinglittlebear · 04/07/2021 18:24

Congratulations @Kayl23 xxx

I've been getting stitches too @sociallydistained.

Also, has anyone got a 'bump' yet? I look more pregnant that I actually am (10+1) but don't know if it's just bloat.. but then I don't feel bloated, it's strange.

Also, back to the stitches thing, I've been getting almost like stretching down either side of my belly and across the bottom. It's not painful or anything, just a weird sensation. I assume it's just muscles stretching and growing, or maybe even early round ligament pain.

Didn't think I'd feel this 'pregnant' this early on.. if that makes sense haha!!

mummyh2016 · 04/07/2021 19:36

@expectinglittlebear I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and the bloat is unreal, I look and feel like i'm 6 months gone! I've even sent DH up the loft to get my maternity clothes out. I remember last time buying some maternity jeans before 12 weeks for the bloat but it did then settle down and I didn't get a bump until after 20 weeks. All
I want to eat is carbs Blush

sociallydistained · 04/07/2021 19:41

I just want to eat carbs too. That’s it! I am very bloated. I can’t believe I fit in my jeans still but they are becoming uncomfortble!

Kayl23 · 04/07/2021 20:34

@expectinglittlebear I feel exactly the same - I'm 10 weeks today and far too early to have a bump but the lower part of my stomach is certainly protruding and has gone quite hard. I'm pretty certain it's just bloating but it doesn't seem to go down! I know that you show earlier in second pregnancy and technically this is my second as I did get pregnant at 17 but had a termination at around 11/12 weeks so I wouldn't have thought that would have stretched my muscles enough for them to be weak now. Although I did start showing slightly then too, but I only weighed about 7 stone!

AIC2015 · 04/07/2021 22:16

Please can I join! A bit late to the party but I'm 28 and pregnant with my second. I've worked out I'm due about 22nd Jan (my daughter's birthday is 27th Jan so both winter babies!)

I have my first scan on Friday and I'm so nervous worrying something is wrong. I've been struggling with nausea and plenty of food aversions.

Slowly getting through this thread and hearing more about you guys too!

Welcome and congratulations! I had my first scan at 9+2 last week and I was really nervous! I am nervous again now for the next one.

I can now add heartburn to the list of symptoms. This is a new one but I think a result of all the bread I’ve been eating. Still the only thing I really want 😢

I have my booking appointment today and I’m quite nervous about it. It’s not until 1pm and I wish it was sooner so I could get it out of the way. Hopefully scan date to follow though.

EsseKey · 05/07/2021 09:29

@sociallydistained ugh I feel your pain about the missed travel to China last year! I lost count of how many cancelled flights, refunds and stupid vouchers I got in 2020 from flight companies...
I am concerned that I will have to limit travelling when I have a baby (not just holidays, but as an expat I travel a lot to visit family!), but I have a close friend who has done all sort of holidays and travels with her 2 babies/toddlers, so I hope I will be able to do that too!

During the weekend we gave the pregnancy news to our families - lovely reactions from everyone (so emotional!!!) a part from one person that asked "how did this happen?why did you decide to have a baby?was it planned?" I mean, wtf...

I am a bit regretting it now, just because I am so scared that we will have to give a bad news if something goes wrong at the 12 wk scan... Sad I guess I just have to wait and remind myself that most likely things are ok...

EsseKey · 05/07/2021 09:43

@expectinglittlebear I think have a little bump! And I believe it's a bump and not bloating, because it's there at all times, including in the morning when I am usually not bloated at all. In the past weeks, I could only see that in the evening, so I think I was just bloated, but now it's a bit different!
And also if I try to flex my abs, it doesn't go away ahahah

My friend keeps saying that it is impossible to be showing already, since it is my first, but honestly I think I know my body better than her...

@AIC2015 welcome and congratulations! :)

I have realised that I missed so many messages over the weekend...catching up now! :)

EsseKey · 05/07/2021 09:52

@Kayl23 congratulations on your engagement! xx

thecapitalsunited · 05/07/2021 10:43

I have a good and a bad symptom to report. When epilating on Sunday I noticed a varicose vein on my thigh. It’s not particularly lumpy but has that distinctive wriggly pattern. I blame my DH because he’s riddled with them (my late MIL, his DM also had tonnes even though she was never more than a size 8) so his spawn is obviously sending out its own varicose vein causing chemicals.

However, I’ve also noticed that my nails are suddenly a lot harder and not as prone to splitting. I’ve been taking prenatal vitamins for years so I’m sure it’s all the pregnancy hormones.

Tangfastic91 · 05/07/2021 11:08

Morning all. I am really missing a warm bath, anyone got recommendations of a product that can be used in pregnancy?? I love something with a nice scent.

expectinglittlebear · 05/07/2021 11:33

@AIC2015 welcome and congratulations! xx

@Tangfastic91I use the Sanex Dermo Kids Body Wash & Foam Bath for whenever I have a bath. I personally can't use perfumed or fragranced products anyway as I have sensitive skin and get recurrent thrush (sorry tmi). But that one smells amazing and is also safe for pregnancy, dermo tested and hypoallergenic x

Tangfastic91 · 05/07/2021 12:12

Thanks @expectinglittlebear!

I may be the only one here without any bloating or hint of a bump. I should be 11 weeks tomorrow so am a bit worried, but I have a bit of a stomach anyway so maybe it's just hard to tell ahaha!
