Guess which idiot potentially ate mouldy toast this morning? I'm hoping I spat the worst of it out but I'm usually so careful. In comparison to other food risks it's not that bad I guess but I'm so annoyed with myself

EsseKey · 30/06/2021 10:30

@GoldenSun1 oh that's unfortunate! I am sure it will be fine, most of the times mould is not going to make you or baby sick, especially as you have spat most of it out so your exposure has been minimal.

Don't beat yourself up, it can happen and you did the right thing! :) x

1sttimemumn · 30/06/2021 22:49

@ChelleV are you feeling any better today? So sorry to hear you’re feeling rubbish!!! X

1sttimemumn · 30/06/2021 22:51

@sociallydistained @ShaSha13 I hope you get your scan dates ASAP! X

sociallydistained · 01/07/2021 15:04

Really hating the smell of my own home. This started last week and it’s really really getting me down. I don’t understand. Anyone else’s home is not a problem! My partner is gonna get me a diffuser that burns oils to try and drown out this so cold smell that he can’t smell 😂

I googled it and it seems to be quite a common problem…

I also am determined to feed myself properly and yet I have salmon that needs cooking and I feel sick at the thought… I love salmon usually wtf.

MsFig · 01/07/2021 15:35

Hi Ladies!

Thought I would join the train 12 weeks here and due January 16th! Ahh so excited its my 1st at 30.

Hope you are all doing great :)

EsseKey · 01/07/2021 16:02

@MsFig welcome and congratulations!
You are a bit ahead of me and few other ladies here, I hope everything has been ok so far? Have you had your 12wk scan already?

thecapitalsunited · 01/07/2021 20:18

@MsFig Welcome! You can let all us end of Jan ladies know what’s in store for us 😂

Kayl23 · 02/07/2021 07:37

@sociallydistained I've had a similar issue recently and have started having quite strong aversions to some smells, particularly tea bags! Which is very strange as I usually drink a lot of tea but now I can't bare the smell of it. I've also been struggling to eat anything healthy but I'm trying not to feel guilty about it too much as any food is better than no food and hopefully this feeling will pass soon. I've had takeaway pizza twice this week! Pre pregnancy I ate really healthily but just cannot seem to bring myself to do it at the moment. It's all pretty common though ☺️

EsseKey · 02/07/2021 08:36

Goodmorning ladies! How are you all doing?

I was just wondering, have you told already to your family/close friends about the pregnancy? I guess I will get mixed answers here, I know it's very personal and depends on circumstances!

In my case, only 1 close friend and my manager know, we were planning to tell our parents after the 8 wk scan but then life happened and we didn't manage to have a proper conversation with them all together, so they still don't know!
Now I would like to do that this weekend, although I am kind of debating on whether I should wait after the 12 wk scan...I am listing pro and cons, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts/experiences XX

EsseKey · 02/07/2021 08:40

@Kayl23 I am with you on the pizza lovers train!!!

I don't really have specific strong cravings or aversions, but I fancy the carbs/tomato combination more often than usual (like pizza, or pasta with different types of tomato sauce...), and I am not too much into asian food, which I usually like a lot!

GoldenSun1 · 02/07/2021 09:08

@EsseKey I thought I would have kept it a complete secret as I'm a very cautious person but it's just much more complicated in a pandemic. I told my parents a couple of weeks after finding out as I was planning to visit them and wanted to check we had everything prepped to be COVID 19 safe. Bless my Mum, she was still obsessively cleaning as I arrived and had the negative tests laid out as proof! They are so excited but very pragmatic and I can count on them for support if the worst happened.

We haven't told my husband's family yet and will wait until after the scan. They are lovely people but the news will spread across the entire family in seconds once they know and it just felt a bit too much. I still want to have a news embargo to the wider family until the anomaly scan but I know that's unlikely to happen!

A couple of friends also know because it just got awkward dodging invites to the pub to watch the football.

EsseKey · 02/07/2021 09:20

@GoldenSun1 thanks for sharing!

One of the concerns is also that my partner's family is similar to your husband's from this point of view! There is no way to tell just his parents/siblings and then wait longer to tell everybody else...and that family is pretty damn big ahahah

Alle1991 · 02/07/2021 09:22

Morning ladies, hope you’re all doing ok,
10 weeks today! We are planning on telling our family after the 12 week scan, in fact the day after. I’ve told my best friend (she’s 19 weeks) so I can ask her 101 questions lol

I had a slightly melt down on Wednesday and went into complete panic mood. I think the doctor thought I was crazy. Since Monday I haven’t had any nausea and my boobs aren’t really sore when I wake up.. I’ve never hoped for feeling sick before.

Has anyone else found that in week 9? I’m still concerned but the doctor said it can be quite normal but to wait and see what the 12 week scan said.

expectinglittlebear · 02/07/2021 09:36

@MsFig Welcome and congratulations! x

@sociallydistained @Kayl23I am having a similar issue too with milk. I used to love a cup of tea, or a bowl of cereal and earlier on in pregnancy was having those everyday (tea within caffeine limits obviously). But now I can't stand the stuff. Even the thought of milk makes me want to heave and I can smell it from across the room - I can even smell the milk in tea really really strongly, which is the weirdness thing.

I am also with you on the pizza! Finding it so hard to stay healthy at the moment. I feel sick whenever I am hungry and salad / healthier options aren't really killing the hunger at the moment, so I have found that I am eating more unhealthier food so I feel fuller and not so sick!

@EsseKey Morning lovely! I told my boss when I was really early, like 5 weeks, as I started to feel a bit funny at work and I didn't want people guessing and then he be the last one to find out - didn't think it would look good. We ended up telling our parents/grandparents & close friends when I was 6 weeks - purely because it was our wedding and I couldn't really hide that I wasn't drinking on my own wedding day.. and also it just seemed like the perfect moment to tell people as it was such a special day. I told the rest of my colleagues (there are only about 10 of us total) when I was 8 weeks, just after I had my early scan. As thats when the sickness kicked in, and it was harder to hide at work. Everyone else I will be announcing it to after we have had our 12wk scan in a couple of weeks time - assuming all okay of course!

@Alle1991 I have been the complete opposite to be honest, week 9 has definitely been the worst for me in terms of symptoms and nausea! However, I was the same as you and had a bit of a panic as I went into week 8, as the majority of my symptoms just vanished! But then come into week 9 and they were back with a BANG!

Tangfastic91 · 02/07/2021 09:57

Morning all! In a bit of a dilemma really about telling people. Will need to tell work next week (at 11 weeks) as I need the afternoon off for the 12 week scan. Unfortunately my boss is off long term sick and I am second in command, so it means telling the head of the company instead Confused. We will tell immediate family after the 12 week scan, but may give it an extra week or 2 as we know a few people who announced at 12 weeks and then had loses so it's playing with my anxiety a bit. This pregnancy will come as a complete shock to everyone, so I want to be as sure as I can that healthy baby is an end result (which I know sounds ridiculous as you can never be sure). My nausea has been worse this week, pizza was a no go! But then it was a vegetable pizza, so that was a mistake. Salad and fruit going down well this week, and extra pillows in bed to minimise that feeling of stomach contents backing up ugh. This slog to 12 week scan is really affecting my mental health - hang on in there baby bean!

EsseKey · 02/07/2021 09:59

@Alle1991 I think I had something similar, not sure exactly when as now all the days are like the same - but I would say around 7-10 days ago I was suddenly feeling much better from the nausea, and for a couple of days my boobs were not sore at all!
then it all came back, not as strong as before but I definitely still have symptoms!
I believe it's pretty normal for the symptoms to come and go! Try to enjoy the sickness free day XXX

@expectinglittlebear aaah yes now I remember your lovely wedding story!!love that!

I honestly can't wait for the 12 wk scan now

Dolly0706 · 02/07/2021 10:14

@Alle1991 hey, I’m currently 11 weeks but the same thing happened me at 9 weeks. My nausea and tiredness suddenly lifted and left me panicking something was wrong. I booked in for a private scan at 10 weeks cos the anxiety was just getting too much. Thankfully the scan showed all was fine, baby was moving about and had a strong heartbeat. It was the biggest relief. My nhs scan isn’t until I’m over 13 weeks and I just couldn’t wait any longer x

sociallydistained · 02/07/2021 10:31

I am the same re: healthy food. I attempted salmon last night (something I love and have regularly) 🤢 all I want his carbs and chocolate. I am liking fruit more than normal so rolling with that for nutrients!

As for telling people, I told my best friend overseas the moment I found out. I was in panic. I need her support also. I then had to tell another friend because she could cover work for me for my booking appointment Monday. I told her after my early 9+2 scan on Sunday. … I then felt I had to tell my Nan (the closest family member to me) because I had told my friend.

My Nan insists I tell my Mum as feels guilty she knows so we are telling my Mum and step dad at the weekend and that’s it until after 12 week scan. I am most looking foreword to telling a close friend of mine who is 25 weeks pregnant currently. She will be so excited. Absolutely everybody will be shocked … I have been a no children sort of person and quite adamant about it so I am aprehensive about just how shocked some might be!

I also have to tell work (my second job) next week as they calling a meeting about my role. I may be let go (not terribly sad or worried about this) but I feel I have to be honest with them and blurt it out at the start of the meeting. Not the pressure I wanted before the 12 week scan Tbh! Blush

sociallydistained · 02/07/2021 10:33

Re: symptoms at 9 weeks my fatigue really lifted! I honestly felt so crap weeks 6-8. I was worried too but my scan at 9+2 has reassured me for now. My boobs have been heavy and sore since day bloody one though. The moment they disappear I think I’ll need another scan! 🙈

Tangfastic91 · 02/07/2021 10:38

@sociallydistained I'm the same as you about the adamant about no kids. But then the government took away my right to spend my disposable income on lavish holidays and it helped us to re-evaluate Grin. Not looking forward to all the 'i told you you'd change your mind' comments... Ugh.

Dolly0706 · 02/07/2021 10:46

@Tangfastic91 Grin lol I could have wrote that myself!! We also reevaluated due to never ending lockdowns x

ChelleV · 02/07/2021 12:17

@Alle1991 I just came to check this too! I'm 10+2 and suddenly I'm not nauseous and stuff just doesn't feel as hard. Apparently hormone levels can start to level out now from 10 weeks which is really comforting! I'm so so glad you've asked and we've had others say similar.

sociallydistained · 02/07/2021 12:54

Haha nice to know someone in the same boat. I was hoping for one last trip of a lifetime as I ironically had China booked last year 😂 my best friend lives there so was going to do a proper travelling holiday. Ah well there will be time in the future for that.

I didn’t re-evaluate but I have now 😂 I’m genuinely happy now.

So was in primark earlier and couldn’t resist having a little look in the baby section! So hard not to buy anything or let myself get carried away with imagining things this early!

ChelleV · 02/07/2021 15:22

@sociallydistained Not getting maternity pay makes me feel like it's fine to buy some stuff every now and again... I got some muslins last time I was somewhere with baby stuff. That's about it. We're so close to the safety zone now! I found a miscarriage odds calculator that's obviously not personalised as much as it should, but takes into account your BMI and age and stuff, and I'm hoping it's accurate because I want to use these adorable muslins so bad now!
