@Ralala is the fb group just for first pregnancies or all? I joined a fb group when I had DD 4 years ago and the support I got was invaluable.

sociallydistained · 24/06/2021 13:33

Wow my nausea kicked off again last night after taking an brief hiatus, after I decided to eat one too many ginger biscuits. Formally my cure for nausea now I don’t think I can look at them again!

I’m at work now feeling really really sick. Has anyone else had it where it went away and came back with a vengeance?

ChelleV · 24/06/2021 14:09

@sociallydistained yup, I had a 10 day break and it was GLORIOUS and then this Monday I was almost crying because I just couldn't cope with it anymore. It feels better today though - I just had a great lunch! Salty crackers worked well for me to get it to the point where I could eat through it.

On another topic...

Is anyone else suddenly very sweaty? It's not even warm today and I'm absolutely gross!

EsseKey · 24/06/2021 14:26

My nausea has finally started to improve a bit, I hoped the worst has passed but you are telling me it can come back again?! 😭
I wish we could all be in 2nd trimester already and forget about the nausea !

@ChelleV nope not particularly sweaty atm, but for a couple of nights a few weeks ago I was waking up soaked in the middle of the night. Not sure if it was pregnancy or the heat wave, or both!

sociallydistained · 24/06/2021 14:36

Oh man. I was feeling very smug that I clearly had nausea weeks 7 and 8 and was strutting into week 9 with just sore boobs and a bit of tiredness (after major fatigue) but no it’s back and I’m really tired today.

Have a major aversion to certain smells like perfume and anti perspirant too (other people’s or course). I’ve told my DP he needs to be odour free now I cannot stand it.

Ralala · 24/06/2021 20:15

The Facebook group is a mix of people who are first time mums, second time , third etc!! It’s a nice group and easier to share info xxx

spttc · 25/06/2021 10:14

@sociallydistained the only thing that helped my nausea was meal replacement shakes 🙈😂 I think because they coat the stomach. Immediate relief. I had the chocolate slim fast ones in bottles ice cold. They taste really nice actually but there's loads out there & they're more nutritious than crackers etc. I'm now on Cariban Medication, I got a prescription from my consultant on Tuesday. So my nausea is gone 👌💯

@ChelleV agree on the sweaty thing. My hair usually wouldn't get greasy for 3-4 days. Now it's properly greasy in less than 24 hours. Crazy!

I really don’t mind slimfast shakes the chocolate flavour is really nice. Maybe I’ll try them. I am still really craving jacket potato and baked beans in a big way 😂 and fruit which is good. The thought of a lot of veg turns my stomach at the moment and I was a big veg fan. I think I can handle peas! But baked beans with everything seems to be the current trend!

Jonesy88 · 25/06/2021 12:09

Hi all, I’m still here and still spotting :( it’s still brown though so I’m trying to stay hopeful but it’s really hard. Tomorrow’s scan cannot come quick enough

spttc · 25/06/2021 12:14

@sociallydistained oh baked beans sound very comforting for nausea actually. Maybe I'll have beans on toast for lunch! I do think that kind of full feeling helps.

Salt and vinegar rice cakes have been my saviour! Filling (if you eat enough) but light, my tongue is suffering from all the acid though.

Sending positive vibes your way for tomorrow @Jonesy88

How far along are you? I am (I assume) 9 weeks today I had brown spotting for a day this time last week so week 8… I’d only found out I was pregnant the night before and was too in shock to pay much notice. I have also had two “periods” at their regular times which is why I didn’t know I was pregnant. The last one weeks ago had one instance of red blood. I didn’t know at the time and I believe I am still very much pregnant. I am having a scan on Sunday and hope to report good news and maybe I can be of some comfort to those who have spotted because I appear to be a “spotter” too.
EsseKey · 25/06/2021 14:47

@Jonesy88 nearly there! go to bed early if you can so that tomorrow will arrive sooner (that's my trick in these situations at least). Hope everything will be ok XX

ChelleV · 25/06/2021 15:34

@Jonesy88 my friend's sister had a full period for 4 months and spotting for a month after and her baby is a beautiful 8 year old now. I'm really hoping for you. I know nothing we say is going to be too comforting but please try to distract yourself.

@Tangfastic91 I'm having continuous salt & vinegar crisps at the minute. I never eat crisps, I have no idea why I'm so excited every time I open a bag of them.

@sociallydistained we've been having a LOT of jacket with baked beans! This week I could handle the smell of cheese and it was bloody glorious.

thecapitalsunited · 25/06/2021 15:57

I had my booking appointment today. SO many questions! I was in there for nearly two hours and as expected I have to be referred to a consultant because of my BMI. But my blood pressure was spot on so at least that’s fine.

I had a big disappointment afterwards thouvh. The clinic was next to a Tesco that sells Krispy Kremes and all I could think about was having one so I’d asked DH to pick one up. When I came out of my appointment he’d managed to get himself some beers but no donut for me. Instead I got a lecture reminding me that I didn’t want to put on too much weight 😤

Tangfastic91 · 25/06/2021 16:07

@thecapitalsunited the cheek of your man! I'd be pouring the beer down the sink while looking him dead in the eye Wink

sociallydistained · 25/06/2021 16:22

Oh man my man would be dead. He wouldn’t dare 🙈

That sucks it took nearly 2 hours. I was going to arrange cover for an hour at work obviously would room either side but midwife said expect about an hour. I don’t really have 2 hours (nature of the job I’d need time to travel back and have to be on time for a certain time) so this is worrying for me…

thecapitalsunited · 25/06/2021 16:46

@sociallydistained I did have a student midwife doing most of it and the midwife mentioned that the woman after me had cancelled so I expect they were taking their time so that the student didn’t feel hurried and make a mistake. As it was I almost got put down as having a sensory disability because I have glasses 😂 And of course the student midwife didn’t know all the tricks to get the form filled in!

Kayl23 · 25/06/2021 17:06

I also had my booking in appointment today but really don't feel any more knowledgeable than when I went in! The midwife couldn't answer any of my questions, I don't know if perhaps she was new to midwifery 🤔 the medication I'm on increases the risk of spina bifida which I'm obviously concerned about so was asking if they can check for any of that at the 12 week scan, but she didn't know. She then started telling me how I didn't need to worry about sickle cell anemia because I'm white and its mostly common in black people, so I reminded her that my partner is black and then she changed her mind twice on whether this means the baby is at an increased risk of developing sickle cell anemia or not 🤔 she thinks I will need to be consultant led but isn't sure... I'm hoping that I am, because the consultant might know a bit more than this midwife!

sociallydistained · 25/06/2021 17:24

I feel like I’ll just have to say no pressure but I need to leave by….
I don’t have any questions 😂

@Kayl23 that is a bit rubbish!

ChelleV · 25/06/2021 18:09

I've got my booking appointment at 6pm on Monday. All over the phone. Is anyone else still doing everything electronically?

I'm suddenly terrified of miscarriage. I've not had anxiety in a long time, let alone this severe.

sociallydistained · 25/06/2021 18:59

@ChelleV mine is in person. Aren’t they supposed to take bloods and weight you etc, how are they supposed to do anything over the phone? Bit of a pain.

I don’t suffer from anxiety in general but I worry all day everyday too. It’s so scary and I don’t think it goes away but getting to 12 weeks and seeing our scans etc will help hopefully. Until then it’s anxiety 24/7.

Feeling so so nauseous tonight. No tea on the go as of yet as everything makes me feel sick. The smell of my own home is 🤦🏻‍♀️

ChelleV · 25/06/2021 19:19

@sociallydistained I was so anxious I only used to walk my dogs at 6am in case I walked by someone, but I've been working and doing stuff and pretty much unanxious for ages.

My measurements are being taken at the ultrasound. Which is 14 weeks. I'm a little peeved about it because when I first called to say I was pregnant I asked for a blood test to see if my diet was fine ( vegan) and was told not to worry, I'd have one soon. But that was at 4 weeks and my scan is at 13 weeks which is a HUGE difference!

Jonesy88 · 26/06/2021 12:39

Hi All.

Still spotting but we were able to see the heartbeat! So happy. No clear reason for the bleeding, they said just to take it easy etc, so I feel like I’m not out of the woods yet. That said my hunch is my body had forgotten it’s not meant to have a period as the dates are too aligned.

The EPU were not impressed I hadn’t been contacted by a midwife yet and gave me some “inside” numbers to ring.
