@Kirky658 I hope you get some answers today hun, you're doing so well! Xx

2020mission · 19/08/2021 14:41

Saw on Instagram yesterday that @Kirky658 posted a photo of little Alice so hoping that means she's been able to see her!

I had my 21 week community midwife appointment today and got to hear the heartbeat on a Doppler for the first time. She said she might take a while to find it but the first spot she put it on it was there πŸ˜… I still have no maternity notes I got the same "oh see you booked in just before the app was setup so you won't be able to get access sorry, we'll tell you if there's anything of concern in your notes" πŸ™„ so I give up! Just would have been nice to see the measurements from the anomaly scan and anything else that's noted on them. I've seen other ladies get paperwork with details of fetal measurements, the baby's weight etc so feel like I'm missing out a bit.

Hope everyone else is ok?

Justanothercyster · 19/08/2021 16:36

@2020mission aww hearing that heartbeat is amazing isn't it πŸ’• glad it went well but annoying about the results! I got mine sent through the post, perhaps check up again?

I had my 28 week apt today, all good although baby is breach so if that doesn't change by 36 weeks (which she said it probably would) then I get a scan. My bump is on the highest percentile haha, but she said that's common with breach babies and it's not accurate. All the ladies in my fam have had big babies on my dads side so hoping I don't follow πŸ˜…

We've also booked a 4D scan next week just because we found an offer, and would be nice to send family the video πŸ₯°

Hope everyone's ok!

I had a bit of a fright today with some serious period-like back cramps which have been on and off all afternoon... Took some paracetamol and they seem to have died down again now. While I'm all for an early arrival this is just a little too early! If I can get to September and 36 weeks that would definitely be preferable πŸ˜‚πŸ€žπŸ»

becarefuloutthere · 19/08/2021 19:43

Glad all's going well ladies!

I had my second attempt at a 12 week scan today at 13+2 and all is looking good! Baby did a flip right in front of us which was amazing to see! All measuring good etc. Odd thing tho, I got a call from the hospital dr 3 hours later which I couldn't answer as was on a work call. I had 4 missed calls and a text saying it's the dr from the hospital....called bk but obvs no answer. Are we thinking it could be my bloods already? My mum thinks it's low iron or something, but I feel quite worried with the number of times she called Confused

Haiyaa · 19/08/2021 23:08

Oh @Kirky658 I hope you have managed to get your blood pressure down and some cuddles with Alice. It’s crazy really because surely being separated from your newborn is enough to drive any new mums blood pressure through the roof!

Could be braxton hicks @Kate105, I’ve heard they can be quite painful although I never got many with DD. So long as they don’t become regular then I think it is ok.

That must be really worrying @becarefuloutthere, I know bloods done in hospital come back really quickly. I don’t think they check for anaemia (at least where I am) at 12 weeks as they check it at the booking appointment. I just had the quadruple screening and rhesus antibody bloods at 12 weeks but might be different where you are. Could be that they lost your sample or something.

@2020mission, it’s so nice hearing the heartbeat isn’t it? Can’t wait until I can get it checked!

@Justanothercyster, naughty baby! But I expect it is common for them to still flip flop around at this stage until they run out of space so hopefully they will turn in time!

Kirky658 · 20/08/2021 00:12

Hi girls sorry I haven't been updating much. I was allowed to visit Alice last nigh for 2 hours with a midwife escort in case my BP spiked dangerously again where they couldn't monitor me! Anyway so that was fab. My BP is under reasonable control now so they've moved her from the ward to be with me. However. I had a visit from a bitchy nurse who said that she's lost more than 10% of her body weight since she's been born and that as a result its my fault and I need to feed her every 2 hours 27mls of milk. She won't latch onto the breast because she's too immature and she's struggling to suckle the bottle for a long period before she gets tired. So tonight I've had a visit from the consultant neonatologist in the NICU who's said that the best plan of action is to transfer her back there so that she can be tube fed to get her weight back up again. I'm really really starting to struggle now and my emotions are a complete mess. I think the midwifes are concerned it is the beginnings of PND so they're keeping a close eye on me. It's just one step forward and three back, I'm really not sure how much more I can take 😭😭

2020mission · 20/08/2021 00:59

Aww @Kirky658 big hugs to you I'm sorry things are still tough for you all. I am glad you got to spend some time with Alice. They definitely shouldn't be guilting you with her feeding it's absolutely out of your control. I'm sure this won't last much longer even though it must feel like a never ending battle.

@becarefuloutthere try not to worry they always move quickly with any off/faulty blood results and it's likely to be something like low iron or if it's anything else it usually just means some further tests which most of the time will give a normal result! Hopefully you can speak to them early tomorrow for peace of mind though. Must have been lovely to see baby flip live on screen!

2020mission · 20/08/2021 01:07

@Justanothercyster you're much better at organising birthday celebrations than me πŸ˜… that's pretty good going and especially organising it all while you're pregnant! I'm sure he'll be chuffed.

They don't send any paperwork results to us through the post up here. It was the same with the bloods, I just got them verbally at an appointment a month after they were taken and never in writing. I'm just getting used to it now... I'm someone that usually loves to see data and keep notes so it's tough πŸ˜‚

Justanothercyster · 20/08/2021 09:28

@Kate105 aww apparently it's normal, but do ring your MW if you're ever worried. I still get period like cramps sometimes, it is worrying!

@becarefuloutthere I'm sure it's nothing too much to worry about, try to stay calm x

@Haiyaa yeah they move all the time, he/she is currently lying sideways which is fun 😐

@Kirky658 issues with breastfeeding are soooo common, don't take that rubbish from them! I hope it isn't pnd as that is awful but if it is you're in the right place for them to monitor you and Alice is definitely in safe hands too. It's great you got to see her last night, hopefully not much longer until you can be all together again. You've been through a lot with all this so it's only natural you'd be anxious and low x

@2020mission aw that's annoying, we'll hopefully you'll get your answers at the next apt!

I'm going to a pregnancy meet and greet group this morning organised by one of the local mums in the town, hoping to meet some friends to keep me sane during mat leave!

Thanks @Justanothercyster it did freak me out enough to go home and pack my hospital bag πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ at least that's another job ticked off the list! Also being sent for a growth scan next week so looking forward to that, will be nice to see baby again! Although I've heard they look v v weird by this stage πŸ™ˆ

Justanothercyster · 21/08/2021 08:28

@Kate105 haha aww! What did you put in the bag? I've been thinking about that!
It'll be so lovely to see bub/alien again hehe. We've booked a 4d scan next week just to see bub again

@becarefuloutthere hope everything was ok with the bloods?

I’ve got to have repeat Rhesus factor bloods because they spelled my name differently (by one letter) on the vial vs the form. They KNOW it’s mine but they won’t test it…. FML NHS bureaucracy at its finest!

becarefuloutthere · 21/08/2021 09:13

Thanks for your concern ladies, all is ok. Hooray! he The call was unrelated thank god. Was a consultant calling due to it being an ivf pregnancy and being higher risks of things. Just pure coincidence that it came 3 hours after my scan, so crisis averted!! Hope everyone's ok? Just about to take off for Santorini ✈️ 😎

Justanothercyster · 21/08/2021 09:29

@becarefuloutthere phew that's a relief then!
Omg so jealous, enjoy your wonderful holiday and take lots of pics β˜€οΈ

Ladies I've been discharged after 11 nights in hospital! It feels so surreal to be home and I cried leaving Alice in the hospital earlier but I know it's where she needs to be.

@becarefuloutthere where are you staying looks beautiful, we stayed in perissa xx

Thinkingandblinking · 21/08/2021 18:21

Great news @Kirky658. So tough but at least you can get your strength up now so your ready for Alice when she is discharged, hopefully not too long xx

Justanothercyster · 21/08/2021 18:37

@Kirky658 yay for being home! You'll feel so much better for it, and I know it's incredibly hard but she's being well looked after. Did they say when she might be home? X

OP posts:
Kirky658 · 21/08/2021 19:08

@thinkingandblinking thank you ❀️
@justanothercyster thanks lovely. I feel like an overstimulated child at the moment as I've come home and been away for so long it's weird being home. I cried my eyes out leaving her there. At the moment we don't know when she can come home, it depends on her weight gain she's being weighed tomorrow xx

Justanothercyster · 21/08/2021 20:48

@Kirky658 I would be exactly the same tbh! Fingers crossed it's not long πŸ€žπŸΌπŸ’•

Urgh very jealous @becarefuloutthere enjoy!

becarefuloutthere · 22/08/2021 11:54

@Kirky658 ahh bless you babe! I'm glad you're released tho and it'll be Alice soon β™₯️
We're in oia.
@Kate105 thank you 😊 hope you're well!

Crazydoglady123 · 22/08/2021 14:50

Hey, going to come join over here too if that's okay? I can't remember who of you ladies had an anterior placenta again, but when did you feel kicks again? I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and still not feeling anything πŸ˜” I did hear the heartbeat last week with midwife so know is okay but just frustrating not feeling movement especially being my second pregnancy I expected to feel things earlier not later.

@becarefuloutthere so jealous! Enjoy your holiday and some sunshine!

2020mission · 22/08/2021 16:20

Welcome @Crazydoglady123 good to have another lady join us! I'm sure @Kirky658 had an anterior placenta... possibly @Justanothercyster does too? Mines is posterior so I can't really give any advice. I started feeling little flutters/prods around week 17 but that will only be because the placenta isn't cushioning the front! I was feeling them stronger last week (week 20) but this week they are lighter so it can definitely change over the weeks depending on their position too. My husband was able to feel the kicks last week but anytime he's tried recently he can't feel it when I can as they are too light.

@Kirky658 glad your home it will be brilliant when Alice joins you but definitely good that they are keeping an eye on her to make sure she's doing well with her weight. Hopefully won't be long!

@becarefuloutthere definitely jealous of the holiday. Well deserved though! β˜€οΈ
