@2020mission glad you're not suffering too badly! I have an anterior placenta so I didn't feel movements properly till about 23 weeks.. I felt bubbly feelings from about 20 weeks I'd say. Xx

Kirky658 · 18/07/2021 21:06

Put on the other thread, DH and I went for a 'bump boudoir' photoshoot yesterday. I got him the couples boudoir shoot as a joke present for Xmas while we were ttc. So we had some sexy shots with bump and I even (tastefully I might add) bared all for some shots.. I can honestly say I have never felt so sexy, beautiful and confident in my body before. It really made me see myself in a new light!

Justanothercyster · 19/07/2021 06:47

@2020mission forgot to mention I'm anterior too, everyone's different! You'll know when you feel it 😁

@Kirky658 that sounds so much fun haha! What will you do with the pics?

OP posts:
Kirky658 · 19/07/2021 07:43

@justanothercyster we've chosen two to have printed, not the sexy ones though haha, they were far too expensive to have all of them printed. I think we will probably just put them up in our bedroom. X

Kate105 · 19/07/2021 08:28

I'm actually doing ok in the heat! But our house is quite cool and I have lots of cold water in the fridge 😊

@2020mission I think I had flutters about 15-16 weeks but then proper kicks after about 20? Like others have said, you'll know it when you feel it! And now I'm so over it because it feels like my rib cage is going to crack at any minute πŸ˜‚

So happy to be off work! Was at a hen do this weekend (I'm a bridesmaid) and it was not relaxing in the slightest... mother of the bride is an absolute dragon and the bride's sister (maid of honour) is a lazy so and so, so both of them were quite happy for me and the other bridesmaid to run round all day in the scorching heat serving the food and drinks, then left us to clear up at the end. Not even a thank you! And they turned up an hour late then bitched because it wasn't set up the way the wanted it... grrrrrr!

Kirky658 · 19/07/2021 09:18

@kate105 omg you're kidding!!!! That's bloody shocking. I have to say, unpopular opinion but I hate hen parties and baby showers. I don't think I'll be having a baby shower tbh as I had so many issues with my hen do and people not turning up etc so I don't want the hassle of going through all that again. How long are you off work for? 2 weeks in for me now, then a week off, then my last week pre mat leave! Xx

2020mission · 19/07/2021 10:54

Thanks all for sharing when you started feeling movements πŸ‘ I have no idea what position the placenta is in here as they didn't tell me at the 12 week scan. I thought I felt something a couple of times recently (since 16 weeks) but it's probably just been wind πŸ˜…

Glad you enjoyed your photo shoot @Kirky658 and felt sexy! Sadly my husband would hate something like that so don't think I'll ever be doing one unless I go alone. He ruled out quite a few wedding photographers back when we were getting married because he thought their style/photos were all too cheesy and overly romantic, although he probably could be tempted if it involved me baring all πŸ˜‚

Kirky658 · 19/07/2021 11:26

@2020mission it does feel like wind bubbles!!! Did you get a report from your 12 week scan? It says my placenta position on that.

Haha yes DH was very nervous at first, he was at least able to keep his pants on 🀣🀣

Kate105 · 19/07/2021 11:39

Omg @Kirky658 i really hate them too! I didn't really have a hen do when I got married, just went away for the weekend with my 3 best friends. No hassle! And I've banned my friends from throwing any kind of baby shower πŸ˜‚

I'm a teacher so I'm off for six weeeeeeeeks πŸ™ŒπŸ» unless there's an exam cock up but I'm trying not to think about that πŸ™ˆ back in for 10 days in September before mat leave starts but I have permission to WFH so will see if I can be arsed to go back in... I suspect not πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

2020mission · 19/07/2021 12:06

@Kirky658 Nope I've got absolutely no report or any access to any maternity notes! At my 16 week appointment (phone call) I asked "shouldn't I have maternity notes?" and she just said "No it's all digital but the app isn't set up for you" πŸ™„

Hopefully those wind bubbles were baby movements after all🀞

Kirky658 · 20/07/2021 06:57

@2020mission well that's super helpful!!! I'd give it a couple of weeks and ring your midwife to chase it babe. I bet they were movements you know ❀️

2020mission · 21/07/2021 21:23

We've gone quiet here ladies, are you all busy enjoying (or more likely suffering) the summer heat πŸ˜…

I've just got my whooping cough appointment through and at first I was happy as it's been booked for the same date as my 20 week scan so I'm avoiding 2 trips to the maternity hospital... but then I realised it's TEN mins before the scan! Given I was sat for 1 hour 45 mins in the main maternity area waiting to be seen for my bloods after my 12 week scan I don't think it's likely this is going to work. I really can't risk missing my anomaly scan, it's too important!

Kirky658 · 21/07/2021 22:18

@2020mission oh good, they're excellent at planning then πŸ˜‚ the heat for me is unbearable, can't deal with it. Can't concentrate at work, ankles have swollen up and tired of being a sweaty mess. Washed all our baby clothes and bedding and blankets today, feels super real now ergo I'm starting to panic as I realised earlier I don't know how to put baby in bed with a cellular blanket?!! Honestly....

@lucyrp saw your post on the other thread, glad the scan went well, sounds like bub is very healthy β€οΈπŸ‘

2020mission · 21/07/2021 22:22

Aww don't worry @Kirky658 a first baby is very much a learning as you go! I know this weather is tough but one good thing about it is the super fast drying of any washing πŸ˜… must be nice to get all those washed and ready! Lovely to see them all.

Justanothercyster · 22/07/2021 06:30

@2020mission I've honestly just been dying πŸ₯΅ everything is swollen, hands, feet, all painful. I've been a bit anxious too as although baby has been kicking it seems less, I'm wandering if it's the heat. I have my MW apt this morning so will ask them and listen to hb to reassure myself!
Last day of school yesterday so I'm on holidayyyyyyπŸ™ŒπŸΌ
The washing is a definite perk! How are you?

@Kirky658 awww that's so cute xx

Clairey844 · 22/07/2021 06:55

@lucyrp can't remember if it was here or the main thread you posted about your growth scan...mine was really similar...6lb 15oz at 35+3 but I'm taking it with a pinch of salt, they seem to tell everyone they're having massive babies then they pop out normal sizeπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
How long left until you finish work?? X

lucyrp · 22/07/2021 07:07

@Kirky658 yeah they seem lovely and healthy which is good, maybe a tad bigπŸ˜³πŸ˜‚ aww look at that lovely washing line! I haven't had the joy of that yet as my mum washed all of DS baby clothes for me because I kept them at hers so they're all in the drawers already πŸ₯° also I.e the cellular blanket literally fold it in half and tuck it in as tight as you can at the sides, normally around the waist!

@Clairey844 yeah I think it was the other thread I posted it on, I'm terrible at keeping up on there and I feel awful but I'm so busy or just sleeping it's hard work πŸ˜… yeah I'm taking mine with a pinch of salt too, but it does seem to be following the same pattern as DS as he was 8lb 1oz at 38+5 😳xx

Kirky658 · 22/07/2021 08:48

@lucyrp they looked amazing and made me so emotional 🀣 that's everything washed now apart from the muslins, I'll chuck them in with our washing this weekend. Thanks for the tip on the blanket too - I wasn't sure if you needed a fitted sheet on the mattress, then the blanket then a sheet! Confusing. Also re baby's size - I know so many people who were told they were going to have 9lb babies and they came out at a healthy 7lb. So deffo take with a pinch of salt.

I don't know why I've got this overarching feeling she will be coming for us (🀣) around 38 weeks, just got this hunch... So glad we are ready!

lucyrp · 22/07/2021 08:50

@Kirky658 yeah I think I used a fitted sheet on the mattress then a loose sheet and cellular blanket folded and tucked in as tight as possible under the mattress, I don't think you're supposed to use sleeping bags immediately as my midwife mentioned something about them at my appointment Tuesday. I'm hoping baby will arrive for us at around 38 weeks too which is quite alarming thinking about it as that means that's only a week and 3 days away 😳x

Kirky658 · 22/07/2021 08:55

@lucyrp yeah at our antenatal classes she told us they're only suitable for babies 8lb or above so depends on how big she will be really. Tbh our house is so warm I think it sounds like a nappy, vest, sleepsuits and the blanket should be more than enough. The last few days our room has been 28 degrees!!!! Hope it is cooler when your little one arrives. Xx

lucyrp · 22/07/2021 08:58

@Kirky658 yeah my midwife said if my house stays at 28/29 degrees then just a nappy will be more than enough!πŸ™ˆ not looking forward to labour in this heat at allπŸ˜…πŸ₯΅xx

Haiyaa · 22/07/2021 13:51

The Gro website has a good β€œwhat to wear” according to room temp. DD never had a blanket over the top, she loved being swaddled then transitioned into her gro bag.

Florence13 · 22/07/2021 22:12

Hey ladies,
Sorry I’m not doing very well at keeping up between working and dying in this heat. Cannot believe how close some of you are to having babies now!! It’s so exciting.
Over 24 weeks now and bump has very much appeared, I’m having growth scans due to baby measuring on the smaller side. I think it’s just the right size for me as I’m not particularly tall or anything myself.
Hope your all finding ways to keep cool.

Justanothercyster · 23/07/2021 07:21

@lucyrp wow so close!! Was it a private scan you just had?

@Florence13 heyyy I forgot we were so close in dates! Glad baby is doing ok, and try to keep cool if you can!

The acid reflux has appeared for me and it's just crappyπŸ˜‘
