I've never heard anything specific about sunscreen being unsafe either, although as @Kirky658 says there's a school of thought that pretty much everything that isn't entirely natural isn't safe so where do you draw the line?

Just been to have my bloods drawn again. MW spoke to the welsh blood transfusion service while I was there and they've agreed to fast track them for me so 🀞 I'll have the result soon. If the levels are high apparent I'll get referred to fetal medicine in Cardiff and will have to deliver early there instead of at my own hospital which I would absolutely hate so I'm 🀞🀞🀞and πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ that the levels come back low.

Kirky658 · 13/06/2021 21:35

@samoyedfan123 thank god they're actually doing something useful for you! Everything crossed for you hun. When are you due for the results did they say?

SamoyedFan123 · 13/06/2021 21:51

@kirky658 no she wouldn't say, just that she would fast track them. I dont think it's the quickest normally!

Justanothercyster · 14/06/2021 08:45

@SamoyedFan123 thank goodness they're helping now!

Ok so update from me, still having pain so I rang my MW who has asked me to come into the day hospital to get checked over, urine test etc. It's reassuring but also incredibly anxiety provoking that they've asked me to come in 😭 I really hope it's nothing πŸ™πŸ»

@Justanothercyster they'll just be checking you over to be safe I'm sure they aren't really concerned. Worth doing just to be sure πŸ‘ did you get a phone number for a MW after you booked in? I have no details for if I ever had to call up. I guess I'd have to just call the maternity hospitals main phone line.

True about the chemicals ladies, in hoping that article was OTT but I'm going to Holland and Barrett to buy mineral based sunscreen this week just for peace of mind. It looks expensive too! If it was that much of an issue surely it would be highlighted to the same level as everything else we are told to avoid, right?

Kirky658 · 14/06/2021 09:39

@justanothercyster they will just prefer to be safe than sorry and check you over for good measure. Let us know how you get on 😘

@2020mission oh god yeah absolutely, I'd have thought if it was as bad as it's made out to be then the NHS would be recommending certain things to avoid etc.

So I'm feeling awful today. You may have seen my post in the other group about me falling out with my parents and brother yesterday because my brother upset me and made my cry and my DH very firmly asked him to leave, so my parents followed suit. I'm upset because they didn't even say goodbye or thanks for the bbq. Just upped and left. OK. Maybe I did overreact a bit but I've surely got good reason to. As a result I hardly slept last night, trying to work today feeling like a zombie.

Justanothercyster · 14/06/2021 10:19

@2020mission I've just got a number for the community team and the day assessment unit which is where I am now. They say go just call there and they'll assess.

@Kirky658 thank you lovely, just in the waiting room now trying to stay calm x

@Justanothercyster I'm sure all is fine, keep us posted!

@Kirky658 I completely understand your frustration at your brother mixing with others then coming to visit you. I'm surprised they were all on his side. Even if they think you are being too over cautious surely they should understand being pregnant you are going to be extra careful and they could have been nicer about it. My brother is one of those people who don't want to get the vaccine and I don't think it has dawned on him that's going to mean I don't want to be near him during he pregnancy. If I see him I'd prefer him to keep his distance and preferably outside. He's not in a public facing job but he is going to the office and to the gym so he's certainly at risk of catching it. Hopefully your parents will realise they didn't handle that too well and while they might have been upset your brother wasn't welcome anymore, they could have nicely said goodbye and said they feel they need to leave if he's going rather than just leave the way they did.

Kirky658 · 14/06/2021 11:32

@2020mission yes it was just the childishness of the situation really. We were sitting outside so if wasnt too much of an issue but he's 22, the same, covid won't affect me so I won't get the jab etc etc. He has mental health problems which culminated in an overdose a couple years back and my parents are always protective of him now which I understand but I was just surprised by how he didn't realise how much he'd upset me. Now I don't want to make the first move to apologise as don't really see why I should but I hate this standoff. My parents are due to be our childcare too x

lucyrp · 14/06/2021 14:44

Been for my 31 week appointment this morning and although bump is still measuring above the 97th percentile I don't need to go for a growth scan yet as it hasn't leaped upwards but I do have to go for a GTT now just to check for diabetes in pregnancy although the MW said she doesn't think I have it it's just to check. She said she thinks I just have a big bump with a normal sized baby. Head was down when she had w feel but still free which makes sense as I feel movements all over atm πŸ₯°
My friends organised a baby shower for me in my garden Saturday evening which was lovely was just me and 3 friends and OHs mum and my OH, had some lovely food and just chatted and laughed for a few hours. Got some lovely pictures of us altogether too☺️
Just one more day and then I have 6 days off combined with a weekend away with OH and DS hoping the weather changes for it tho as forecast rain 🀨

Justanothercyster · 14/06/2021 15:00

Thankfully baby is ok. Had a few tests and ruled out lots of issues, so they think the constant pain is my uterus trying to pop out of my pelvis, but said to come back in if it gets worse. They were a bit worried as my temp is a bit high so just need to watch that, but apart from that all seems ok. Got to listen to the heartbeat which was amazing πŸ’• and baby obviously didn't like the Doppler as you could hear it kicking at it πŸ˜‚ feel much better πŸ™πŸ»

lucyrp · 14/06/2021 15:54

@Justanothercyster aw lovely! Glad all is ok. Mine did the same this morning at MW appointment she out the Doppler on and they moved away πŸ˜‚

Justanothercyster · 14/06/2021 16:21

@lucyrp aww haha. I wonder if I'll ever get the chance to record the heartbeat to keep, so reassuring to hear. Totally forgot to ask earlier as I was so anxious!

SamoyedFan123 · 14/06/2021 17:00

Just catching up - sorry you've had such a stressful day @Justanothercyster, but great news that all is fine! Does paracetamol help with the pain?

@Kirky658 I hope you manage to sort things out with your folks and brother - fighting with family is a stress you don't need right now.

@lucyrp glad your appointment went well - I'm surprised your not getting a growth scan if your measuring 97th centile though! I've had two GD tests now and all clear - just a ginormous baby in my case 😳

2020mission · 14/06/2021 18:00

@Justanothercyster great to hear it's all good... next scan this week too? I'm keeping note of your pains incase I get them when I reach the same weeks πŸ˜…

I met my mum this afternoon for lunch and she said "are you sure you have your dates right?" when she saw how flat my stomach still is 😬 surely it's normal to not show just before 12 weeks when it's your first baby? Did not help with the anxiety before the first scan anyway! Hopefully she'll be proven wrong when I have my scan on Thursday.

This may be a silly question but do you need to take a belly bar out for the ultrasound? Just want to know so I can do it in advance if so. Otherwise I'll end up losing it πŸ˜†

@lucyrp the garden baby shower sounds lovely. Only 8 weeks left already! How many weeks did you reach with your son?

Kirky658 · 14/06/2021 18:51

@justanothercyster glad you're OK thank goodness ❀️❀️❀️
@lucyrp glad all is OK, I have my Glucose test next weds. Your baby shower looked lovely 😍
@samoyedfan123 unfortunately it's not resolved no one has made contact with me at all today. I said to DH I would give them till tomorrow evening then I suppose I will have to message my mum and make the first move even though its not my fault.
@2020mission god parents eh who'd have them. I didn't start showing at all till about 17 weeks and even then I just looked bloated xx

Justanothercyster · 14/06/2021 18:55

@SamoyedFan123 it does a bit but it just feels like pressure with that.

@2020mission no belly rings are ok for scans :)

OP posts:
lucyrp · 14/06/2021 19:06

@Justanothercyster you should have asked today!

@SamoyedFan123 I've had two measurements now above 97th percentile and the MW said she'd only send for a growth scan if there was a leap in measurements but there wasn't so only being sent for a GTTπŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ I hope mine isn't a ginormous baby ☹️☹️

@2020mission he was born at 38+5 ! So could only be 7 ish weeks left but it's highly unlikely. For your 12 week scan you should be okay to leave it in as the scan is all below your belly button but for my 20 week one I had to take it out as they were scanning all up to my ribs!

@Kirky658 aww thank you I had a lovely time! I have to wait for an appointment for my GTT but guessing it'll just be at the doctors ?

Kirky658 · 14/06/2021 19:28

@lucyrp my appt is at a local health centre rather than my gp surgery but that might just be my area. Xx

Kate105 · 15/06/2021 18:18

I finally have my maternity cover sorted! Jesus, Mary and the wee donkey, what a bloody relief! Only 5 weeks until the end of term πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

Justanothercyster · 15/06/2021 19:30

@Kate105 woohoo! They just hired for mine yesterday.

OP posts:
Kirky658 · 15/06/2021 19:42

@kate105 woohooo! Now you can relax and count down ❀️ and you @justanothercyster!

They aren't hiring any cover for me, expecting my region to look after itself pretty much. So God knows what state it will be in if I go back!?

2020mission · 15/06/2021 21:02

@Kirky658 oh really are they tight for money and that's why they aren't hiring cover? Hopefully it won't be too much on the existing staff to pick up the work and not too much piling up for when you get back! I haven't told work I'm pregnant yet as I haven't had the 12 week scan yet and still working from home. They were already going to hire someone additional with the same job role as me last year as we were getting busier but we've been on furlough and struggled over the last 15 months so I'm not sure what they will do now. Considering I'm planning on job hunting during the maternity leave though, I hope they do hire cover πŸ˜…

2 days until this scan now. The days are dragging this week!

Kirky658 · 15/06/2021 21:08

@2020mission nah, my manager just 'doesn't believe in hiring maternity cover as it isn't fair' so that makes sense πŸ€£πŸ€” ooooo not long to go for your scan, that's exciting!

Justanothercyster · 16/06/2021 06:45

@Kirky658 what? That's ridiculous lol. Let's hope everything stays ok for your role!

@2020mission not long to go!
