Eugh. Employers can be pants @PurplePansy05, I’m sorry it’s not worked out how you thought, but I’m also in the camp where I think jobs opportunities/rejections happen for a reason and very much believe you make your own success - and you know you’ll out perform him when you’re back. Mums in my team are some of the most organised and efficient workers - it’s like all of a sudden every minute is precious!

Love the name chat- we’ve only got one 1st name we can both agree on for a girl - and I’m finding that difficult to match with grandparent’s names that I wanted to use as middle names. Boy name is sorted I think, but we’re not sharing any till baby arrives!!

MrsB2019x · 29/04/2021 18:43

Loving all these shortlisted names! 🥰 you ladies have good taste!

Our little girl will be Ella (calling her Ellabump all the time atm so hoping it doesn’t stick too much once she’s actually here 😂). Just got to decide on a middle name now!

Problem is I love Ellis for a boy, but with calling our daughter Ella I have now effectively ruled out Ellis for a future boy ☹️

Inmypjsagain · 29/04/2021 18:45

@Daffodil21 yeah I guess it’s sensible to think of it all, that’s a shame if it’s your favourite! It’s often abbreviated to Ike. Guess that would be the same. And I guess initials should be considered too, I saw a thread on here before because a baby’s initial spelled a rude word but I just can’t think what it was now?!

@PurplePansy05 I know, Ock 😂 if I had a brain I’d be dangerous!! Yeah they can’t say it but I think it’s a fair inference to make when they say engaging with you in the future, as you say if there’s one head! Directorship would be good if you could in charge of this bloke though...

@LyraShaeLilly ah that’s good they know and like it! I think If we do decide a name we’ll keep it secret..

LyraShaeLilly · 29/04/2021 18:46

@ready
That's exactly what happened to me, back size went up and cup size went down - it's so strange cant get my head around it, went from 38/C before pregnancy to 40/C then 42/A now.

Inmypjsagain · 29/04/2021 18:50

@LaceyMermaid oh I love Teddy, a good friend has has a Teddy/Theodore so we can’t use but that would be on my list! But yeah teaching must put you off loads!

@HopefulB we wanted grandparents names too and then sat down and discussed them and decided we weren’t fans! It’s so hard!

@MrsB2019x oh Ella 🥰 another one I love! You could always have Ellis as a second name if you had a boy in the future?

alittlexmasmagic · 29/04/2021 18:57

@Inmypjsagain a much loved relative of DHs was called Paula. I'd love to honour the name but don't love the name itself, so if anyone has any suggestions...?

PurplePansy05 · 29/04/2021 19:09

How about Pauline or Paulette? It could be a middle name? xx

Inmypjsagain · 29/04/2021 19:16

The popular girl a few years above me at school was called Paola- I think that was the spelling- pronounced like Powla which I think sounds pretty cool! Her nickname was Paulie. Google says Paula means little, so another name with a similar meaning which still honours the memory without using the name?

HopefulB · 29/04/2021 19:30

@LyraShaeLilly bra sizing drives me nuts - I was a 38C before pregnancy. Now, depending on what measurement method you use I’m a 38DD or a 42A. I’m wearing a 40D Royce nursing bra, which doesn’t have a lot of room in it! I really hope they don’t grow any more!!!!

lucyrp · 29/04/2021 19:54

@alittlexmasmagic rose is in my shortlist for a middle name, I don't particularly fancy it as a first name but it's my great granny's name who lived to 100 so would be nice to use it. All other grandparents names are, Gillian, Pamela, Rosemary, Marion ...😅 rosie is a definite no for me as my ex recently had a baby with that name so 😂🙈

Isaac also a big no from me as there was a boy in the village called isaac who was quite fat and a raging goth with long black hair 😂😂

@MrsB2019x our boys name I've had for years is Elis I love it 😍😍😍 but so many people I know have recently called their baby it so OH thinks we can't use it

PurplePansy05 · 29/04/2021 19:56

Saw this article on Motherly Facebook page which I follow and it's brought me quite a bit of comfort, actually. A good one if you ever feel like you don't want to hear about silver linings. I've become very much like that in recent years, I just say it how it is and accept the reality for what it is - sometimes things aren't good. I will be coming back to this article when my son arrives, I think, in testing times. xx

Magik01 · 29/04/2021 20:29

@PurplePansy05 @Inmypjsagain @biscuitcat
and @MrsB2019x I know right!! The poor dog if they did change his name would be so confused if suddenly I brought a baby around with his old name lol. Oh well, she hasn’t put us off because there’s literally no other name we can agree on 😂

@PurplePansy05 your future employer sounds like they are a little sexist and the fact they said they would wait and haven’t I think speaks volumes! 😡

@WolfMother326 ahh I love your name and the name you have chosen!! Looks like we all have good taste in this group!

Ready2020 · 29/04/2021 23:48

May as well share our short list for our girl. I wanted a Scottish/Irish name (we're Scottish and both have Irish family, my mum and his grandparents). But a few non celtic names have been added. Top 2 are my favourite.

Robyn
Maeve
Willow
Mae
Skye
Rowan
Roisin
Drew

PurplePansy05 · 30/04/2021 07:58

Actually I tell a lie, we had one picked before I was pregnant but we dropped it because we couldn't think of a nice nickname - Francis. Now, I love the name but can we imagine a newborn Francis? A 3 yo Francis? I'm struggling here. And we both dislike Fran/Frank personally, they just sound hard in comparison, not like nn-s Confused. Any nn ideas? xx

lucyrp · 30/04/2021 08:06

@PurplePansy05 I have Francis as a possible middle name as it doesn't go with our surname, however that would be for a girl. I really like frankie as an abbreviation of that x

PurplePansy05 · 30/04/2021 08:11

Ha! I like this, I'll tell DH! He will probably go straight with Frankie Goes to Hollywood but that's a fine connotation! Maybe Francis will make a return! Thanks @lucyrp (and great taste 😁)xx

alittlexmasmagic · 30/04/2021 08:32

@PurplePansy05 neither of the Frances/Francis I knew shortened their name at all, it's a lovely short name in its own right. I imagine a nickname you both love will happen naturally rather than pre-planned.x

WolfMother326 · 30/04/2021 09:21

Thanks @Inmypjsagain and @Magik01 :)

On the topic of Francis/Frances - a close friend had her baby overnight and named her Frances. So cute!

I am 24w3d and cannot stop eating. I finish a meal and feel hungry about 15 minutes later. I've also been swimming a lot which is probably making me a lot hungrier. Anyone else? Running out of healthy snack ideas.

Daffodil21 · 30/04/2021 09:52

@Ready2020 I love Robyn! We couldn't ever use it though as my close friend has already said that's the name she'd use if she had another girl (and she said it first!). Let's hope she has a boy next so it's still available if we ever have a girl 😀

OP posts:
biscuitcat · 30/04/2021 09:56

@Ready2020 all stunning 😍 I love that style of name. Rowan is our current top choice for a boy, I love it for a girl as well.

Carefree1 · 30/04/2021 11:12

Urgh sorry about the shitty employer @PurplePansy05. At least you can laugh when stand in bloke does a horrendous job!

We’ve actually gone for Ava Lillian Surname for our little girl. We’ve got a fairly long surname and it’s a bit odd, so had to make sure there was a flow! I also like Elsie, but one of our close friends used it.
Lovely hearing everyone’s names 🥰

MrsB2019x · 30/04/2021 11:19

@Ready2020 Robyn is lovely! I’d love to use that but don’t think it really goes with our surname.

@PurplePansy05 I’ve come across two boy Francis’ in my career, one was Frank and the other Frankie. Think it’s a lovely name, abbreviated or not!

@WolfMother326 My appetite has gone through the roof too, keep me posted if you get any good snack ideas because I keep eating Hula Hoops which is less than ideal 😂

PurplePansy05 · 30/04/2021 11:20

I'm all over celery + hummus or celery + soft cheese at the moment. Also ok with grapes & cheddar on a cracker xx

PurplePansy05 · 30/04/2021 11:21

And bagels with peanut butter and fruit when I'm really hungry. Peanut butter and apple slices combo is also nice xx

BertieBotts · 30/04/2021 11:35

So envious of swimming! The pools are still closed here.
