I'm working from home most of the time still and getting online supermarket deliveries so luckily don't have to wear a mask too much, but when I was in the shop the other day I got really light headed from it and with the heat now it's definitely harder to wear them. I'm sure it's far too optimistic with the Indian covid variant, but I really hope they loosen the rules about them soon.

LottSE20 · 04/06/2021 12:49

Good to hear about scab @HopefulB. I had my 28w appt (and anti d injection) today and seem to be measuring on point. Iron levels have really fallen though so need to up my dosage, and should explain why I’ve been so low energy.

Definitely know what you mean about masks, I had to climb 2 flights of stairs to my appt earlier and I was really out of breath by the end which wasn’t helped by my mask. I really feel for those of you who have to wear it all day. I suspect masks might be around for a bit longer tho 🙁

Inmypjsagain · 04/06/2021 13:16

@Ready2020 congratulations on the move! Hope you’ve managed to get some sleep!

@HopefulB good news about the scan! 😊

@LottSE20 did you find the anti d injection really long and painful? I was surprised, it hurt more than my covid jab and I had dead arm after it, I was surprised cos I was expecting it to be an nicer injection!

Masks and this heat are horrible-I’m actually surprised how puffed out I get from talking these days and the mask exacerbates it. Don’t know how some of you are managing it all day!

Inmypjsagain · 04/06/2021 13:19

And @wimbler I’m with you not being able to sleep in the heat, I feel it’s making my leg cramps worse but that could be dehydration? Fear not though, as yesterday my husband ordered a Dyson fan which means that we have killed all future heatwaves and we are probably responsible for the rain today....

LottSE20 · 04/06/2021 14:03

@Inmypjsagain yes I thought it was really painful and seemed to go on for ages. After 4 rounds of IVF I thought I was used to being a pin cushion but that was a particularly nasty one.

My top tip for hot weather is to take ice packs to bed, wrapped in tea towels. Basically like a reverse hot water bottle

Millymay13 · 04/06/2021 14:14

I’m also struggling with wearing masks/gloves/aprons and have had to tell my manager I can’t do any more face to face appointments at work. The other day I was literally dripping in sweat, felt light headed/sick and a horrible headache…not to mention the swollen ankles! I can’t believe how much more effortful everything is being pregnant and I think wearing PPE just makes it so much worse.

Ready2020 · 04/06/2021 14:43

So my sleeping hasn't improved much really. But we've got our day bed delivered today so hopefully OH will put that together and he can sleep in there from now on!

I've managed to set up a midwife appointment for next week as well as a scan for my 32 week growth scan. This is all without registering with a doctor which is good. I think this will be my last scan though as I'm not really eligible in this NHS area.

Still not got back out blinds or anything. Been trying to organise a large house worth of stuff into a small house. Our cat milo has discovered he can jump over the wall onto the road next to us if he uses the garden furniture. He's deaf so I'm worried about him getting flattened.

I'm currently on hold with the covid vaccine people to arrange my vaccine. I've decided to go for it with the rise in cases and talk of a third lockdown!

MM1993 · 04/06/2021 17:34

I had my Anti-D today, I had been told it was a big needle so was prepared for the pain however I found the whooping cough vaccine worse !

I think I had a dead arm for about 10 mins afterwards however with the whooping cough my arm was dead for days, will be interesting to see what it feels like tomorrow.

Also had my 28 week midwife appointment yesterday and bump got measured for the first time. 28.5cm which she said it pretty much bang on what it should be. I keep being told my bump is small but obviously not!

lucyrp · 04/06/2021 17:42

@MM1993 I'm guessing the measurements are different for everyone I.e body shape etc as my bump is 29cm and I'm above the top percentile and may have to go for a growth scan

MM1993 · 04/06/2021 17:46

@lucyrp - that's interesting, I've always been told it should roughly equal the week you are for example 28 weeks should be around 28cm etc. She also mentioned there was 2cm leeway either side of that. However I'm new to all of this so it's like speaking another language to me 😂

Inmypjsagain · 04/06/2021 17:53

@LottSE20 I feel less wimpy now that you’ve said that! Great shout with the ice packs, I’ve used frozen flannels before but it doesn’t quite sound the same!

@Millymay13 I’m with you in the swollen ankles! If you can book in (or ask someone nicely!) for a foot and leg massage it makes such a difference!

@Ready2020 having the bed to yourself again will be good, am tempted to suggest that my husband too 😂

@MM1993 oh I’ve got whooping cough next week, I can’t imagine it being worse 😭 my arm fine was next day for anti D though, the day of it was sore.

Also for comparison, my bump measurement at 28 weeks was 24cm and I was sent for a growth scan. Baby was 38th centile on growth scan. Think bump size is down to how you carry, your height and weight etc, I’m sure my bump looks bigger than the minus centiles 🤷🏼‍♀️

Inmypjsagain · 04/06/2021 17:58

@MM1993 and @lucyrp I think we’ll probably all have the same antenal grow chart where they plot fundal measurement in our notes? It looks like 3rd centile at 28 weeks is just about 26cm and 90th centile is 28cm.

And actually my bump measurement was at 28 weeks + days I think. I’m tempted to try and measure again now myself but I’ve had a big dinner that may skew the results....

lucyrp · 04/06/2021 18:01

@Inmypjsagain @MM1993 I thought each persons might be different because my chart has my previous pregnancy details on it in a little box at the top left and how big my baby was etc.

MM1993 · 04/06/2021 18:04

@Inmypjsagain @lucyrp - I don't have a chart or anything in my notes - my notes are pretty much empty. But let me not start ranting about my hospital again - she just told me how many cm bump was and then moved on to something else

Inmypjsagain · 04/06/2021 18:05

My chart is identical to the attached (I think daffodil posted hers and it looked the same as mine which made me think it’s nhs wide, maybe not though!) good they put your previous baby in though, because what’s “normal” is different for everyone. Good for comparison 😊

Due August 2021 - over half way!
Inmypjsagain · 04/06/2021 18:07

@MM1993 you know I’ve moaned a lot about my midwife and hospital since the start but they’ve definitely got better from 25 weeks... but I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to have empty notes? What’s the point in being the note folder/details of the app if no one is going to use it?!

lucyrp · 04/06/2021 18:59

@Inmypjsagain mine looks different to that! The top centile on mine is much closer to the 26 than the one you've uploaded I think or it might just be my eyes !

lucyrp · 04/06/2021 19:36

Would help if I attached it

Due August 2021 - over half way!
alittlexmasmagic · 04/06/2021 20:14

So Jealous! I had my bump measured for the first time at my 28 wk appointment last week... but she forgot to plot it, so my chart is still blank. God knows what they'll have to compare it to when next measured at 34 weeks x

Daffodil21 · 04/06/2021 20:55

The sonographer told me that growth charts are individual, based on mother's nationality, height and weight at booking in. I think mine is slightly above average, as we compared his estimated weight with average and it was pretty spot on, but my measurements makes him look slighter smaller than the average line

Jessicapebbles · 04/06/2021 20:58

Hi guys!

I had an appointment with the midwife today, baby was really active - although I’m getting a lot more rolls/body parts sticking out now at 31 weeks. Her heartbeat was super strong and they told me that her head was engaged so I’ve got to take it easy. Unfortunately it does look like I’m starting to develop pre-eclampsia again which I’m really disappointed about. They’ve said that I will just be monitored even more (already on weekly blood pressure checks and having growth scans).

Has anyone heard from @PurplePansy05 recently? I’ve noticed I’ve not seen her pop up on the page. Hope everyone is doing well x

PurplePansy05 · 04/06/2021 21:15

Hey @Jessicapebbles, thank you for asking Flowers I am ok, I guess, 30+1, had a long discussion with my consultant which helped with some of my worries although some are still there. Unfortunately the genetics team chose to hound me with further letters which my consultant is very frustrated with by now. It's upset me more, but I just can't worry anymore. It's been a really difficult time. I had to detach myself from thinking about the pregnancy too much hence why I'm not on here and haven't been reading the thread. Detachment isn't very successful though, of course it's impossible to ignore a huge bump that I carry and I love my son to bits, so whatever I'd try to do, detachment doesn't really work.

On a separate note, DH and I have also been extremely busy as we've done up all our bedrooms and we're moving on to the second part of the house. It's been a mad rush.

Thank you to those of you who have reached out and DMd me as well and I'm sorry I haven't replied properly in the last week or so, I'm genuinely exhausted juggling all this now. But it really means a lot and it's helped me so much with getting through this hard time. Thank you so much, you're superstars 😘❤. I hope everyone is keeping well and healthy, look after yourselves especially now it's getting hot and more difficult at our stage! xx

Whatshouldbemyusername · 04/06/2021 21:28

Hi ladies. It's nice to read about everyone's scans.

Had a consultant appointment and at 28+5 I was measuring at 29 weeks and as @MM1993 said I was told 2cm here or there on both sides is allowed. Something like that

Also my nhs trust isn't the greatest with making notes. I'm tired of telling them to be honest. It's almost a lost cause.

What's everyone's weekend plans?x

Millymay13 · 04/06/2021 21:31

I have been wondering how you are @PurplePansy05, it’s good to see your name again. I’m glad your consultant could help a little with your worries and that you’re managing as best you can. Just know there’s lots of us here thinking of you x

lucyrp · 04/06/2021 21:40

@Daffodil21 thag makes more sense then I did think they were different for each woman!

@Jessicapebbles I don't really get kicks anymore eithrt they're more rolling around now! Sorry to hear you think you're developing pre eclampsia let's hope not x
