I've only put on 8 pounds or so since my pre pregnancy weight and my apps keep telling me I need to put on more weight 🙄🙄

Whatshouldbemyusername · 01/06/2021 19:53

I've put on Almost 8kgs in 28 weeks so I bet will be clocking in at 12-15 kgs. The funny thing is if you see me it's just the bump abs boobs where I think all the weight is x

Inmypjsagain · 01/06/2021 20:14

I’d gained 12 kilos and have refused to weigh myself since! I haven’t changed my calorie intake, it’s just like my bum decided to grow? I so so so so hope I get back to my pregnancy size :( I know realistically itll be hard to get a gym with a new baby!

@wimbler actually duh, why didn’t I think of this before?! Gonna look now!

BertieBotts · 01/06/2021 22:05

Yes vinted is great. I put all the outgrown baby/kid clothes I don't want to keep on there. I've bought some lovely things on there for the DC as well! I already have so many maternity clothes I should be OK but I'm thinking of listing some of the excess stuff on there now because it's just taking up space in my house.

Angelesque · 02/06/2021 08:01

Diving in after a busy few days in London and at Legoland... for some reason I thought walking 20k+ steps a day would be fine... 😴

Shout out to all the Manchester-based people... I’ll be at Wythenshawe this time, but did St Mary’s last time. Only moved hospitals as we moved out of the city centre to Altrincham 😊

Don’t know about anyone else, but I’m counting down to mat leave!!! Think I have eight weeks to go. Still SO much to do though - we’ve not sorted the nursery at all, need to get buggy and clothes out of the loft to check what’s serviceable... aargh!!

Angelesque · 02/06/2021 09:06

Oh, one more thing... have the rules on hayfever meds during pregnancy changed in the last few years? I’m sure when I had my first there were a few types it was considered okay to use, but googled to refresh myself this morning, and it looks like it’s got a lot stricter now...?

wimbler · 02/06/2021 09:22

@Angelesque I seem to remember when I wanted hayfever meds when I was breastfeeding the chemist in boots basically said there was nothing I could take, so I assume the official guidance is the same for pregnancy. Might be worth speaking to your GP though if it's really bad as i'm sure they can prescribe something

wimbler · 02/06/2021 09:32

@Inmypjsagain I've stopped weighing myself too. Doesn't help that on booking the midwife's scales weighed me at far less than I know I actually weighed (by 3ish kg!!) so on paper it looks like I've gained more than I actually have! lLast pregnancy I gained around 10kg, think i'm on track to gain a bit more this time. I know it's not the same for everyone but I was really lucky - the weight literally fell off me and I was back to pre pregnancy weight by 3 weeks PP. I joined a mum and baby fitness club when I was around 4/5 months PP which was also great as you can take the baby along! my daughter didn't sleep well at all from months 4-8 and this made me loose a lot more weight and I actually became quite underweight which i'm hoping to avoid this time round!!

biscuitcat · 02/06/2021 09:58

@Angelesque my midwife told me at booking that nasal sprays are usually fine so I've been mostly using Beconase. I've also been using a bit of Loratidine on really bad days - the leaflet says not to, but when last I checked the NHS website said it was OK during pregnancy.

I haven't weighed myself, I think it will just stress me out so I'm going by how I feel and how my clothes fit, which so far seems to be OK. I needed to lose some weight pre-pregnancy anyway so I'm hoping that I'll be able to do that post baby - being a bridesmaid at my gorgeous, skinny sister's wedding in December will hopefully be motivating!

Daffodil21 · 02/06/2021 10:20

I've also stopped weighing myself. I've decided I don't really care tbh. I needed to lose a few pounds pre-pregnancy too, and then I was on the steroids which gave me hideous weight gain and stretch marks on my bum and thighs very early on. At my booking appointment I had already put on a stone. I hated the way I looked in the early days as I just looked like a swollen puffer fish, but the meds that did that to me were also likely to be responsible for me still being pregnant now, so for me it's easier to overlook my body changes, even though they happened at an alarming rate! I feel like I've evened out since I stopped taking the steroids and now I do feel big but I just feel like a normal pregnant woman rather than a monster 😂

Our bodies are doing an amazing thing, and we can turn around the weight gain afterwards. The stretch marks will fade, and yes we may not quite look how we did pre-pregnancy, but considering what our bodies will have achieved I think that's pretty good going!

@Angelesque gp and consultant both told me that ceiterizine and loratidine are fine to take in pregnancy (recommended trying not to for first 12 weeks if possible out of an abundance of caution they said) I take ceiterizine if I'm really struggling.. Trying to stick to the nasal spray just though.
With regards to using them in breastfeeding also told they are fine then too but there's a tiny amount that can be passed on through breast milk to baby but the only effect it could possibly have would be making baby a little more sleepy than normal.

BertieBotts · 02/06/2021 11:17

Hayfever meds are one of those which are more restricted in breastfeeding because they have an effect which can dry up milk. In addition to the sleepy effect.

LottSE20 · 02/06/2021 11:48

Checking back in after 5 nights with my family staying, my little nephews - definitely a peek into what’s to come! I am absolutely exhausted though - with the hotter weather I’m finding I’m tiring out really easily.

I’m not bothering to weigh myself either - I haven’t been going crazy eating nor have I been a saint so I’ll just worry about it post birth.

Angelesque · 02/06/2021 13:45

Thanks for all the hayfever info all... not struggling too much just yet, but know it will hit in the next week! Had no idea about the BF impact @BertieBotts!

Inmypjsagain · 02/06/2021 17:36

@wimbler that’s good to know! I don’t think I was ever predisposed to weight gain which is why I think I’ve struggled with my changing shape so much! Anyway if it doesn’t happen naturally I will work for it!

I seem to have lost the ability to eat, I don’t eat much and I am so uncomfortably full...
But it’s bizarre because I feel hungry but there’s no place for food to go? So I’m hungry but painfully full all at the same time 😭 pregnancy is weird!

Inmypjsagain · 02/06/2021 18:15

I’m so pleased, just bagged a baby bjorn bouncer for £10 from the Nextdoor app! Hope it looks as good in real life... is this my life now 😂

Ready2020 · 03/06/2021 05:56

We've moved house! But in turn I've stopped sleeping well. Our new room is much brighter at night due to street lights we never had at the other house. The old house was so dark at night I needed a wee night light! So I think we need some thick blinds.

We're also in need of some proper canny storage solutions for the bathroom as these new builds are seriously lacking in cupboards. No energy for it just now really but we need to unpack boxes.

I feel like I've ballooned even more over the last week. I used to be OK lying on my back with a pillow under one butt cheek to give my hips a rest but even that is uncomfortable now. Plus OH is back in the same bed until the sofa bed arrives and I miss having the bed to myself. It's too warm with us 2 plus 2 cats!

My news NHS area say their policy isn't to give growth scans to first time mums over 35,unlike my other council area. So the midwife is trying to blag me one more scan before baby comes as I was expecting to get one and I think I'd feel better with it. They've been good though as I've not been able to register with a Dr yet (no proof of address through yet) but they've set me up with a midwife appointment next week anyway. Fingers crossed for the scan. I was going to take my mum to this one.

lucyrp · 03/06/2021 07:21

@Ready2020 yay for the house move but boo to rubbish sleep. I think that's all of us atm in this heat.. it's horrendous. It stayed at over 17 degrees throughout the night here last night and it was horrible. I used to be able to toss and then until recently with no problem but it takes a lot of effort now so uncomfortable most of the time. I definitely feel rounder this last week. Had our rota for July for work yesterday and yesterday and I'm down to work 7 days in a row twice at 34 and 36 weeks pregnant 🤣 had to give my boss a message about that as I don't think that will be possible somehow

Daffodil21 · 03/06/2021 07:25

@Ready2020 how exciting!!! Sounds like you need an eye mask for the time being though - or at least a t shirt or something over your eyes!

We've had a lovely few days with the in-laws. We've done soooo much walking but have seen some beautiful places. I'm travelling back to my home town with them today to stay with my mum for a couple of weeks - means a whole day sitting in the car but at least my legs and feet will have a rest!!

Hope everyone is doing well x

The IKEA blackout curtains are absolutely fantastic. We bought them for DS1 and instantly regretted it because he leaves them closed all the time and sits in a fug of darkness/teen boy stink/old plate and sock humidity Envy :o :o But I've kept the offcuts to line DS2's curtains with as they work so well.

HopefulB · 04/06/2021 06:36

Morning all!
Hope everyone’s coping ok with the heat?
28weeks scan yesterday and all is well Smile

wimbler · 04/06/2021 09:20

@HopefulB glad your scan went well! I'm really struggling to sleep in the heat. coupled with cramps in the night it's not too fun at the moment! I just hit 32 weeks and can't quite believe I've only got around 8 weeks left!! Only 2 more weeks of work as well yippee!

lucyrp · 04/06/2021 10:14

@HopefulB I had to take my mask off in work on Tuesday during the heat as it was a recipe for disaster. I was getting very hot and light headed and felt like I was going to pass out, pretty sure I would have ended up on the floor if I'd worn it all day 😅

BertieBotts · 04/06/2021 10:58

Yeah I am struggling to wear a mask. My doctor actually says I shouldn't be wearing it more than 30 minutes at a time. Not possible to stick to this but I do use medical ones now rather than FFP2 (we are not allowed cloth ones here) and take it down when I change trams etc for a breath of fresh air in between.

lucyrp · 04/06/2021 11:09

I'm supposed to wear mine from the minute I enter work to when I leave apart from on dinner when I'm by myself but its becoming increasingly difficult with the shortness of breath and getting hotter quicker 😨
