@Ready2020 for my first I used my lumie light that was perfect actually. I just turned it on for a feed and it does automatically go off after around 90 mins. this time I will probably use a night light that we had in my daughters room that has several brightness/colour settings and is touch sensitive. Also the battery operated tea lights would probably work well. I had a pack intended for use in labour that came with a remote control. I wouldn't buy these specifically for night feeds but if you have some, they would work!

alittlexmasmagic · 18/05/2021 15:29

@Ready2020 with DS, I used the torch on my phone and placed it over my bedside lamp. DS was in the next to me so it worked quite well for night feeds.
The GroEgg isn't bright enough but I also had an IKEA touch light in the shape of an owl which was quite good but not long lived x

biscuitcat · 18/05/2021 15:50

@Ready2020 ahh that makes sense - I'm only taking official leave from the due date (if I ever remember to ask for my MATB1!) and annual leave for a couple of weeks before.

BertieBotts · 18/05/2021 16:08

Totally normal not to leak milk until after birth, don't worry!

Ready2020 · 18/05/2021 16:18

I like the idea of a touch light that gets brighter etc. We're doing an IKEA run once moved so will see what they have.

BertieBotts · 18/05/2021 16:23

We swapped our actual lightbuls for an ikea smart bulb witht he little remote control. DH then became obsessed with them and tried to get smart bulbs for every room in the house, haha.

Daffodil21 · 18/05/2021 16:28

@BertieBotts we have smart bulbs in some of the rooms. DH is also working on putting them everywhere - I was initially against this ('it's so unnecessary, just use the light switch!), but I have to say I am a bit of a convert!!

Except ours are voice activated so even lazier 😂

Jessicapebbles · 18/05/2021 16:32

I can’t remember if I used a lamp with my first, I think this time round it would be super helpful though!

I had my first growth scans today and our little lady is growing perfectly 😍 another in 4 weeks time! Also no signs yet of Pre eclampsia so I am SO happy!

BertieBotts · 18/05/2021 16:34

YY ours go with the google app / phones so work by voice as well.

lucyrp · 18/05/2021 17:16

@BertieBotts omg mines done this ever since I stopped breast feeding 5 years ago but there are more "crusts" as you say since being pregnant 🙈 I also pick but be warned im sure this is how I got mastitis in pregnancy!

LottSE20 · 18/05/2021 17:42

@biscuitcat I’m finishing the same week and I am also losing motivation! And I definitely think I’ve started nesting - I’ve got obsessed with cleaning things that never get cleaned (like mattresses!).

No nipple leaking for me yet thank goodness.

@Jessicapebbles lovely scan pic, so much bigger at this stage!

I’m starting to feel a bit body conscious at the moment - I feel like I’ve put in weight across my arms and legs when I really didn’t want to. Am I being unkind to myself/is that just normal, or don’t need to rein in my calories?

lucyrp · 18/05/2021 17:48

@LottSE20 @biscuitcat I wish I was nesting. I seem to have gone the opposite direction. I desperately need to dust and polish all over the house something I normally do twice a week and haven't done it for 2 weeks 😭

Daffodil21 · 18/05/2021 17:56

@lucyrp don't worry definitely no nesting going on here yet either!

OP posts:
biscuitcat · 18/05/2021 18:09

@lucyrp if it makes you feel better, I cleared and then made up our spare bedroom (seeing my in laws for the first time in 10 months tomorrow!) and my hips are now so sore that I've had to give up 😩 cleaning is clearly bad for me!

HopefulB · 18/05/2021 18:44

@biscuitcat, glad it’s not just me chasing the MATB1 form!

Thanks all for the boob comments - even if no one’s found a perfect solution (I don’t like the smell of bio oil!), seems better that I’m not the only one!!

We’ve got a lumi SAD light, which I’m hoping will work for night feeds as it has a gentle glow.

38 working days left for me..... feeling a little overwhelmed with what I want to get done & not my usual patient self with anyone being slow!

Mumoftwo2021 · 18/05/2021 20:06

29 weeks tomorrow, fed up now 😂 thought it wouldn’t be until later on.

Constant daily heartburn, indigestion, feeling heavy, peeing myself when I sneeze or laugh too much.
Luckily no leaky boobs yet for me !

Been fine emotional wise no raging hormones but lately my OH is just irritating me and I just cba with him 🤦🏼‍♀️ Anyone else or just me? xXx

Hope all other mummies are doing ok xx

lucyrp · 18/05/2021 20:32

@Daffodil21 after reading the comments here I jumped in the shower washed and dried my hair, shaved my legs and baby oiled then dusted and polished all upstairs, hoovered, put washing away and changed DS bed all whilst roast dinner in the oven. I am knackered now 🤣

@biscuitcat after a day at work my feet just can't cope when I get home 😭

Millymay13 · 18/05/2021 20:40

@Mumoftwo2021 I’m getting more fed up too, I have no idea why pregnant women don’t all complain all the time! I didn’t realise that so early I’d be aching so much…if it’s not my back it’s round ligament pain, or aching hips! Then there’s the rib pain/heartburn and fatigue…my list of complaints goes on 😂
I’m so grateful to have this life inside of me and love to feel the little one wriggling around inside so I don’t want to be complaining but it’s not easy growing a new person!

Daffodil21 · 18/05/2021 20:51

@lucyrp very productive! Hope you're feet are up now! I also shaved my legs today! Did a quick tidy up of the lounge and made a lasagne. But I haven't had work today as well 🙈 so no excuse for it to be messy really!!

Ready2020 · 18/05/2021 22:21

Yeah I feel you. 3 more months to go and baby growing the most in these months. Just want to spend the next 3 months in bed 😂 Don't know how you second /third time mums do it while looking after another wee one.

Currently in bed with a candle burning watching Fringe (for the 3rd time from the start!) with baby kicking away 😊

Mumoftwo2021 · 19/05/2021 01:49

@Daffodil21 I know I’ve tried to enjoy most of my pregnancy but my patience is wearing thin now, as u said it’s the daily struggles.
I’m trying to enjoy it because I know I will probably miss bump when my baby is here but it’s getting hard to stay positive 😂 xXx

On another note, how do you all manage to shave down there?
I need tips on how to keep myself feeling/looking nice for my own self respect and to feel a little bit nice xXx

lucyrp · 19/05/2021 06:38

@Daffodil21 I don't feel like I've done much I'm terrible with cleaning I do stuff every day and OH goes mad at me and says why are you cleaning everywhere is clean but to me its not 🙈 defo had my feet up! Went to bed soon after too🤣 I had work from 9-4.30 and my feet at the end of the day hurt so bad 😩

@Mumoftwo2021 going to be totally honest, haven't been able to see down there for a good few weeks now so I just trim with my electric shaver but I'd love to be able to do it properly but defo don't trust OH enough 😩 I don't know what to do with it either x

BertieBotts · 19/05/2021 07:47

I just trim with scissors if it gets too bushy, that prevents it getting all gunky and sweaty which I don't like. Shaving feels a bit too risky. Midwives have seen everything from bald to a full bush so it's just what's comfortable for you.

Ready I love Fringe!! I was an emotional wreck watching it the first time, I don't know if I could cope again in my current state :o

DS2 had a trip yesterday on a ridged/spiked metal ramp (for grip in case the ramp is wet/icy) and managed to puncture two holes in his forehead D: Blood everywhere and panic! He had to come into our bed at 3am and kicked me really hard in the tummy. Baby objected strongly to this and started going crazy. I had to turn over in the end so he could only kick my back. But he seemed fine and cheerful this morning.

I have my first monitoring session today (standard now in Germany) and glucose test, bleugh.

Daffodil21 · 19/05/2021 09:00

@Mumoftwo2021 I haven't been able to see down there for many months (I was on meds through the first trimester that made me bloat and gain weight) so I've just been doing it blindly tbh!! So far so good until last time where I did cut myself 🙈

@BertieBotts hope DS is ok today!

It's our anniversary today, so this evening WE ARE GOING OUT FOR DINNER!! Looks like I'll have to bring a thick cardigan though 😂
