@biscuitcat where is your placenta?
At my 20 wk scan baby was lying across for me, with an anterior placenta so all movements I've felt have been to the cervix and bladder (such a joy!). I'm slowly starting to feel the odd whack further up but I've no idea if they're kicks, punches, head butts or what.
It's weird for me because both my previous pregnancies, babies were head down from very early on x

Andr33a · 05/05/2021 22:11

Hi ladies, hope you are all doing well! Anyone on here with Pelvic Girdle Pain that can recommend a belt? I've mentioned it to my midwife on my last appointment and after saying it is perfectly normal I convinced her to refer me to physio. But who knows how long it will take for that. It gets quite painful and the pain always wakes me up when I turn in bed. Sorry if it's already been discussed!

alittlexmasmagic · 05/05/2021 22:16

@Andr33a I can't recommend one but I'll be similar soon if previous experience is anything to go by. Physio provided what was essentially a giant tubigrip last time and it was surprisingly good. Accidentally left it in a hotel though so can't use it again 😩

For anyone wondering about movements, check this video out. Our babies are several weeks ahead too x

HopefulB · 06/05/2021 06:34

That video is great @alittlexmasmagic!

I’m on count down to 24weeks (and getting a wee bit anxious about MATB1 form - but HR advisor said just scan and email on day of appointment with original to follow in the post).

Definitely feeling more movements here, I still find it exciting every time though! I think due to the MMC every bit of reassurance is appreciated.

Whatshouldbemyusername · 06/05/2021 07:48

Morning ladies.

To all the ladies who told me about reflexology, I had my first session last evening and I slept so much better after. I've started getting lower back aches (apparently higher chances with an anterior placenta) and she did mention that abit of swelling was present on my left foot. Anyone else getting any swellings?

@alittlexmasmagic thanks for the video clip! I have started feeling movements too and like you it's sort of subtle. Am really loving it though x

lucyrp · 06/05/2021 08:04

This morning I've woken and baby must be in such a weird position today as I've got terrible back ache and a funny tummy. I feel like I've got baby's hands down in my cervix 😖

BertieBotts · 06/05/2021 09:45

I don't think it matters yet whether they are head down as they still have plenty of room to move around and settle on a position.

alittlexmasmagic · 06/05/2021 09:47

Yay! Getting some Omezaprole for reflux. Happy Bunny x

wimbler · 06/05/2021 09:56

@Andr33a I was suffering from pretty bad girdle pain - the thing that has made the world of difference is actually exercises to strengthen my glutes. my physio gave me a resistance band and every night before bed I put the band around my knees and do squats, hip bridges and clam exercises for 5 mins or so total. It took a few weeks but I'm mostly pain free now. I also had a pelvic floor assessment and it turns out I have an overactive pelvic floor so I am now super conscious of that making sure the muscles relax properly. You can aid this by trying some yoga moves. In particular happy baby pose and childs pose are really good for getting everything to relax. also getting a tennis ball and sitting on it with it on your perineum (sounds ouch but you only need to do it for 5 ish minutes a day to start with)

Daffodil21 · 06/05/2021 10:09

@Andr33a my physio app took two weeks to come through but I guess like everything, it depends on where you live! I've found sleeping with a pillow between my knees, and another under my hips has really helped. Plus the midwife gave me a tubigrip thing like @alittlexmasmagic which helped way more than I thought it would! I only wear it when walking or standing for longer periods of time

Glad you're feeling movements @HopefulB !!

Whatshouldbemyusername · 06/05/2021 10:22

Just booked my antenatal course through bump and baby club - hypnobirthing and first aid is included in this! 😊

Inmypjsagain · 06/05/2021 11:04

@BertieBotts I understand, needles are horrible. Sorry no words advice but am sure you’ll be great if you do decide to have it!

@Ready2020 tbh I think fasting sounds better, I’ve heard such horror stories about the drink! How does she check babies positioning though? Can she feel it?

@wimbler fingers crossed baby flips! I wonder if there’s any truth in a breech baby being a girl?

I can’t tell what my movements are- they either feel mainly in the side or down by my cervix, so I can’t really picture how he’s sitting so it was interesting to watch that video!

@Andr33a I’m seeing a physio too and am using bands just as Wimbler describes, not felt too much difference yet though.

@Whatshouldbemyusername so jealous you’ve got bump and babies! Really wanted that course, hope it’s good!

Interesting about the linea nigra-I’ve got no signs of one but thought we’d all get one!

Anyone else feeling shattered? I was 26 weeks on Tuesday and it seems like since then my tiredness has tripled. Just seems every week gets worse- working is difficult!

wimbler · 06/05/2021 11:53

@Inmypjsagain I'd never heard of breech babies being girls but my first was breech from 31 weeks and was a girl! actually now you mention it, everyone I've known to have a breech baby has had a girl...

Andr33a · 06/05/2021 11:54

Thank you so much everyone for the tips!! I'll definitely put those in practice whilst I wait for physio app

Inmypjsagain · 06/05/2021 12:13

@wimbler I know 3 breech babies, all girls, coincidence though... always a 50% chance?

@Andr33a hope get the pain gets better!

Inmypjsagain · 06/05/2021 12:17

Oh gosh my typos. Hope you get the jist! Everything is a real struggle today, like my head is full of fog!

BertieBotts · 06/05/2021 12:53

I'm doing an online mindfulness course at the moment so perhaps that will help me with any injections I need to have. I just had a thought when filling in the pre-course paperwork that it might actually help me with childbirth.

lucyrp · 06/05/2021 13:00

I'm so confused ... just returned home from my 25 week appointment and was lovely meeting my new midwife again. She had a feel to see where they were sat and thought she could feel their back and they gave her a good kick. Also listened to their heart beat and they moved away from the monitor after a few seconds. Cheeky baby! But the thing that confused me is that she said I'm turning 25 weeks tomorrow, when I thought I was 25+3 today. I even double checked with her and she said yes 25 weeks tomorrow but how is that right when my due date is 16th august?? All my apps are saying 25+3 too ...

alittlexmasmagic · 06/05/2021 13:11

Was your EDD altered at the 12 wk scan? Maybe she's looking at the wrong date. I'd not worry too much and just see what's said next time.x

Inmypjsagain · 06/05/2021 13:22

Hope the mindfulness course helps, Bertie! I’ve been recommended that for childbirth, almost like it goes hand in hand with hypnobirthing.

@lucyrp awh you could hear the heart! So the midwife can actually feel the baby through your bump?! I’m due 10th August so I’m 26 + 2 today, so you’re 6 days behind which would make you right. Have they got the right due date on your papers, you might be able to see what they have on any scan print outs in your notes? Or are they working from LMP rather than dating scan?

Daffodil21 · 06/05/2021 13:41

@BertieBotts I used to hate needles. I mean really really hate them. Then last pregnancy I tried clexane injections and had to inject myself every day. The first time was nerve wracking but honestly after that it's ok. So try not to worry if you do need injections x

OP posts:
lucyrp · 06/05/2021 14:15

@alittlexmasmagic it was altered I think I was pushed forward 4 days but she's written the right due date on my mat B1 so she knows that's it !🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm just going to go by what I think, baby never comes on their due date anyway so doesn't really matter does it, just I was confused and wondered if it was just me! Xx

lucyrp · 06/05/2021 14:17

@Inmypjsagain she picked it up straight away as their back was against my belly! Yeah they can! Most of the time they have a good feel of your belly from now on to see where they're sat! I don't know whag she's done 🙈

Caz1226 · 06/05/2021 14:49

@lucyrp@Inmypjsagain I had my 25 week appointment as well yesterday and she had a feel of my boy his head is high up near my ribs so hopefully he will move round and into position in the next few months ha it was so lovely to hear his heartbeat again and when the midwife felt him he kicked/punched her as well and made her jump ha
I feel huge at the minute not necessarily put weight on anywhere else but all of a sudden my bump has made itself known 🤣
