Hi

Not sure who asked this Q but I've had 3 lovely waterbirths and hoping for another one this time!
I think if you're a person who enjoys long soaks in the tub then you might like labouring in a birthing pool. I find it really relaxing and the best part is showering in there after baby born/placenta delivered so I came out clean each time!!

Pregnancy massage sounds wonderful... Going to see if I can find anyone local!

HopefulB · 02/05/2021 12:03

@Inmypjsagain let us know what you find.... I’m tempted by the BabaBing Lobo2 Little
Monsters one.

Ready2020 · 02/05/2021 12:42

I am slightly worried about wearing a mask on a hot massage room but think I'll use a disposable one as they are a little thinner than my cotton ones. Even a hot shower can make me a little light headed these days.

LaceyMermaid · 02/05/2021 14:12

Thanks @Ava50x it was me wondering about waterbirths, it does sound good!

lucyrp · 02/05/2021 15:50

So ladies I've just weighed myself for the first time in weeks and unsure whether I've gained a lot or not. I weighed 11 stone 6 when I got pregnant then I lost weight from morning sickness and went down to 10 stone 8 and hadn't weighed myself since until today and I weigh 11 stone 11 so don't know whether I've gained 5 pounds or a stone and 3 pounds ?🤷🏼‍♀️

Dia12 · 02/05/2021 17:47

Hope you're all having a good bank holiday weekend, the weather has been amazing for a change.
We have just returned from a trip to mamas and papas...DH is very taken by their flip xt3 pram primarily because it's half the price of the icandy peach. Anyone else considering one of these?
I really am beginning to dislike pram shopping!

Also managed to book a few nights away in Torquay around mid June so really looking forward to that. Kind of thinking I should have made it a week's stay as we haven't had a proper holiday in such a long time. I'd like to have a stay in a lodge with a hot tub...not sure if they'll be any available for this summer now.

Anyone else got any plans?

lucyrp · 02/05/2021 17:59

@Dia12 have you thought about getting an ICandy peach second hand ? My budget is no more than £250 and you can get lovely condition ones for that price! We have 3 nights booked for mid June and I can't wait 🙌🏼 although DS will be in tow so how relaxing that will be I don't know 🙄🤣

HopefulB · 02/05/2021 18:03

@lucyrp, gosh you lost a lot in first trimester! I wouldn’t worry, whichever it is at the mo. I suspect the MW will go from booking weight to current. I lost 2kg (4.4lbs) in first trimester and now 1.5kg (3.3 lbs) over booking weight. I’m happy with that as my BMI was over 25 so I shouldn’t put too much on & weight gain has been consistently 0.5-1lb a week in second trimester.

@Dia12, I have a week booked off in June, we were looking at going away, but anything we fancied seemed booked or hugely inflated in price. We have a campervan so may manage a sneaky overnight to the coast if I think I can get comfortable in the 3/4 double bed. Also, we’ve not lived in our area long so plenty of scope for day trips out too 😀

BertieBotts · 02/05/2021 18:15

I don't think we will be going away anywhere :( But SIL and BIL have said they want to come and see us in late Aug/early Sep which would be brilliant! :) They have thankfully requested to stay in a hotel :o

lucyrp · 02/05/2021 18:40

@HopefulB I did yes😬 couldn't keep anything down, and when I stopped being sick after taking anti sickness tablets I still didn't have an appetite until about week 16 but I'm guessing when I started eating again i would easily have just gone back to my weight from before. I did look at the pampers calculator and it says you should have put on 11-18 pounds by week 25 so either way I'm guessing I'm in the okay range 🤷🏼‍♀️ I only bought some batteries for my scales todag and braved it as I thought I may have been over eating 🙈 as for holidays I managed to get a bargain at 3 nights in a static caravan for 230!😁

BertieBotts · 02/05/2021 18:50

If anyone's near Nailsea I have just seen this on FB - free BF support in exchange for photos (presumably for use in promo materials) if anyone is interested.

Ready2020 · 02/05/2021 20:25

Is your midwife meant to weigh you? I was weighed right at the start but never since. I'm loath to weigh myself 😳 I was in the higher bmi (30!) at the start. I've been a size 14/16 for years and reasonably fit before lock down. I was starting to get back into cycling before I got pregnant so feel like I never got the chance to get back into it.

I'm not a fan of bmi. I'm 5ft 8, size 14 and while not slim I never felt unhealthy. I eat well and barely drank before pregnancy. I suspect I'm getting a diabetes test due to my bmi and it does worry me a bit.

Doesn't help I'm now watching Call the Midwife and there is a story about diabetes in an obese mother. 😬

Daffodil21 · 02/05/2021 20:39

@Ready2020 I've only been weighed at my 8 week appointment and nothing since too

Any heartburn / acid reflux tips?? I've already taken an omeprezole tablet and I'm dairy intolerant so can't drink milk... Burning in throat is driving me mad 🤢

Daffodil21 · 02/05/2021 20:42

@Smurf123 I'm literally googling this as we speak!! I haven't tried omeprazole yet so going to call the GP in the morning. Only thing I've found is not laying on the right side

OP posts:
Daffodil21 · 02/05/2021 20:43

I meant not laying on the left side, not the right. Which is annoying as I think left is supposed to be better

OP posts:
Smurf123 · 02/05/2021 20:53

@Daffodil21 its horrible isn't it!!! I'll try laying on my right see if that helps

Daffodil21 · 02/05/2021 21:00

@Smurf123 it really is!! It's not so much throat for me, it's more under my right rib but it's so painful! Then sometimes a bit of bile or something comes up 🙈 so grim. kept me awake last night and just couldn't get comfortable!! I did have some cheesecake late at night though so it's my own fault it kept me awake (well, 9pm but that is late these days!), so never again! I've just had lots of gaviscon after dinner and it's helped a bit but not completely 😒

OP posts:
Smurf123 · 02/05/2021 21:07

@Daffodil21 gaviscon is next on my list to try but I really struggle taking it due to the texture 🙈
The omeprezole usually helps its just not quite doing the job tonight but I forgot to take it this morning so that could be why

Daffodil21 · 02/05/2021 21:14

@Smurf123 I'd personally skip the tablets and go straight for the liquid

OP posts:
LaceyMermaid · 02/05/2021 22:22

@Daffodil21 @Smurf123 I’ve been taking omeprozole for a few weeks bad at first it really helped but it’s not so much anymore. Having the same problem with bile and it’s making me feel sick again the last few days! I wasn’t sure if I could take gaviscon as well as omeprozole.

Smurf123 · 02/05/2021 22:33

@LaceyMermaid can definitely take gaviscon at the same time as omeprezole gp told me that on Thursday.
I've also been told I can take 2 omeprezole if I really need it but should try where possible to stick with one a day so her advice was to take one every morning and then if I am struggling to take another one at bedtime. I'm always reluctant to take the "only if you absolutely have to" option but I'm sure they wouldn't say it's OK if it's not. Tbh tonight I would do expect I forgot to take one this morning so only remembered to take the first one after dinner.

LaceyMermaid · 02/05/2021 22:51

@Smurf123 thank you, I was going to call my GP on Tuesday and ask if I can take a higher dose, I’m currently on 20mg which I take first thing. I know what you mean though it’s always that feeling that if they only if needed that You think you should try not to!

Daffodil21 · 03/05/2021 07:34

Good to know you can both if needed!

@Smurf123 this popped up on my Flo app today to help with heartburn (hopefully pic attached)

Hope everyone’s having a lovely bank holiday weekend. We had an appointment at Pramworld yesterday and managed to order the travel system and crib. I hadn’t realised that they would keep them for us until we want them to be delivered aswell which is great, partly as I’m not comfortable with having too much baby stuff in the house yet and also because we are hoping we will be in the new house by then. I would definitely recommend it if anyone lives near to either of their shops.

We are hoping to get away for a couple of nights in June, even if it’s just to a nice hotel that isn’t too far away from home but we haven’t booked anything yet.
