@Daffodil21 @biscuitcat I too have this issue and I do think swimming is advised to help it. I too spend too much time sitting down now as it puts me off trying!

LaceyMermaid · 01/05/2021 11:14

@BertieBotts thanks for the recommendation I don’t really want to spend much as this is my last pregnancy.
On the subject of water births has anyone had one? I’m wondering if it might be worth a go this time - didn’t in my previous births. I’m consultant led though so don’t know if you’re allowed? And I’m old 🙈 and I know they can mean they don’t let you do certain things

BertieBotts · 01/05/2021 11:22

I used a pool in labour with DC1 which was amazing and tried getting in with DC2 and it did nothing at all! In hindsight I think I got in too early.

They say it's too high risk if you're higher BMI (as they can't haul you out easily) and it might not be compatible with continuous monitoring, depending on what monitors your hospital uses. Also if you're being induced or have higher chance of any complications that cause an issue in the pool. Age shouldn't matter but it probaby depends on the reason why you're consultant led.

biscuitcat · 01/05/2021 11:29

@BertieBotts thank you, that's so helpful! It's from 2012 so may well be from before any changes of instructions. With the pic I've (hopefully!) attached, would that mean the bit I've circled shouldn't be higher than our mattress?

Due August 2021 - over half way!
BertieBotts · 01/05/2021 11:33

Yes I'd probably set it up like that to be safe.

It means the same surface thing doesn't really work but that's one of the things I'm not as keen on about these co-sleepers. At least they are still in arm's reach.

HopefulB · 01/05/2021 11:34

I’m envious @Inmypjsagain, I love lemon meringue! I had a real thing for citrus when I was nauseous in first trimester- my morning toast had to be with marmalade or lemon curd!!

I started swimming again a couple of weeks ago. I used to swim a lot, preferably outdoors, but there’s no way I’d fit in a wetsuit now! The outdoor pool I use is heated to 24- which I’ve found fine. I’m a FC only swimmer too - I can do breastroke -just don’t like it! FC is easier on the hips anyway 😀 I’m loving doing something that feels like ‘proper’ exercise, rather than walking or yoga, it’s the only time in my life I’ve been satisfied swimming in the slow Lane too!!

biscuitcat · 01/05/2021 11:38

@BertieBotts thank you ❤️ yes it's not the one I'd have chosen if we were buying our own, for just that reason - but given that it's really only for a few months it seems silly to get another (especially as we already did that with the pram as I really wasn't keen on the one we were given from SIL!)

LaceyMermaid · 01/05/2021 11:41

Thanks @BertieBotts I’m really only consultant led due to previous big babies so maybe they’d let me. I’m hoping they might discharge me back to midwife care if my growth scans look ok. Saying that though my previous births have all been very straight forward so I wonder if it’s best to do the same thing again and not meddle!

Daffodil21 · 01/05/2021 11:52

Ladies, I'M GOING SWIMMING AT 1PM!

I am so excited! Can you tell?! Grin

I have ordered a nice maternity swimsuit, but it won't be delivered until Wednesday and I'm too impatient for that, so I tried on the stuff I already have (that I could find anyway!) and it went on (just!) Definitely not pretty and you can see my angry thigh stretch marks in all their glory but I DON'T CARE!

notinthestarsigns · 01/05/2021 11:55

Enjoy your swim @Daffodil21! I have been thinking I would like to go swimming but the only decent pool near us to go to is in a hotel. I used to be a member there and it is lovely but trying to figure out whether it’s worth joining up again given I am then unlikely to be able to exercise for at least six weeks or so after the birth.

Daffodil21 · 01/05/2021 11:57

Oh bugger, I was hoping I could bring my towel in to cover myself until I get to the poolside, but you're not allowed. Oh well, the other 7 people will just get a hideous sight 😂

That sounds lovely @notinthestarsigns! I haven't signed up yet, I've just paid the £5.75 for one session (I feel slightly ripped off but the membership is only £23 per month, including the gym, which I won't be going to). So just going to see how I get on before I commit! This is just at the local leisure centre but they do at music in the pool which I like! But not sure they'll be doing that atm

HopefulB · 01/05/2021 12:06

Yes @Daffodil21! I feel your enthusiasm, I was so excited the first time I went. And if you want to feel less ripped off my swims currently cost £8 each!!!

If anyone else is looking for swimsuits I bought this (after a lot of research!) www.welovefrugi.com/grown-ups/maternity-2/view-all/teagan-tankini-swim-stripe_aw20.htm
It moves a little when I push off the wall I think as bump grows that will stop.

Also, I seem to remember there were a number of fellow cheese lovers on here? I’m just back from the farmers market and the lady with the cheese stall was lovely, talked me through how whilst all her cheeses start with raw milk, some are boiled in the process- so lowest risk, and other hard cheeses aged for over 2 years also low risk. Looking forwards to trying my selection - just need to make some bread now.

Smallbean27 · 01/05/2021 13:21

@Daffodil21 yess! Good for you, hope you enjoy it! Been for a swim myself today and even though I had to rest a lot still enjoyed doing some exercise.
@hopefulB blooming love cheese!! Oo especially with fresh bread 🤤.

Daffodil21 · 01/05/2021 13:31

@HopefulB I do feel slightly less ripped off!!

Just finished - only managed 10 lengths so a little pathetic 😂 I could have gone a bit longer but I didn't want to push it and wanted to see how I felt after. Definitely keen to sign back up though! A little girl stared at me as I was leaving 😂😂

lucyrp · 01/05/2021 14:20

I just cancelled my gym membership as the leisure centres are re opening. I was going 6 times a week up until I was pregnant but went once at like 5 weeks and it was horrific. I will definitely join again when baby is here but at what point I don't know

HopefulB · 01/05/2021 14:51

@Daffodil21, well done on the 10lenghts! No need to push it at the moment, front crawl
is all about technique anyway 😀

I would have though nothing of swimming 1.5-2km in the pool Pre-Pregnancy and my 3 swims so far have been 600-650m. I really have to make myself stop any get out very slowly as I’m finding I’m quite wobbly as I get out of the pool 😕

@lucyrp, can’t say I blame you, a gym is not somewhere I’d feel safe right now! Some clubs have been offering their classes outdoors, but I don’t know if that’ll continue once government lifts further controls.

Daffodil21 · 01/05/2021 15:01

@HopefulB I would normally do 50 or so but that was over a year ago and pre-pregnancy! 10 is better than nothing 😂 you're right, no need to push ourselves at all, a bit of low impact movement was all I was after really.

@lucyrp yeah I definitely wouldn't go to the gym either atm. Party because of covid but even without, I just wouldn't be able to do much!

Ladies I just had a pregnancy massage and it felt GOOD! 90 minutes.

Think am gonna do this every 2-3 weeks now. I've been very sensitive and sore and not sleeping well. Hoping can sleep better tonight. X

Ready2020 · 01/05/2021 23:36

@Whatshouldbemyusername I have one booked for Monday! Do you just lie on your back? Did you need to wear a mask?

Whatshouldbemyusername · 02/05/2021 01:03

@Ready2020 so they
Made me lie on the side. Out a towel between my knees and then made me turn the other side. Finally for 10ish minutes made me lie on my back with a pillow under it to do my shoulders and a nice head massage. You're gonna love it.

after that I came home and had warm milk with honey, turmeric and cinnamon. I fell asleep on the couch for about 45 minutes. Deep sleep! You're gonna love it x

Whatshouldbemyusername · 02/05/2021 01:04

@Ready2020 oh yes. Masks are still compulsory. To be honest I am more than happy to have one at the moment with not being vaccinated x

lucyrp · 02/05/2021 06:39

Every single day I wake up wide awake at this time after numerous wake ups during the night but baby seems so hungry at this time in the morning 😩

alittlexmasmagic · 02/05/2021 08:09

Hi everyone,
I'm up in the Dales this weekend and it so lovely to be away. DS is loving having DH around constantly and he can go in the carrier when he's had enough of walking which helps a lot.
I think I'm over the constant hunger now which is good but also finding meal sizes decreasing as I can't manage larger portions.
If anyone has a solution for car seat belt comfort I'd be extremely appreciative? Lap belt goes under bump no problem, the chest belt however slides over my bump and mono boob to garrotte me. It's done this every pregnancy and drives me bonkers x

Inmypjsagain · 02/05/2021 09:48

Mums really are the best, that lemon meringue was amazing!! I had a thing for citrus in first trimester too, found it cleared the bad taste in my mouth. I’m looking forward to being allowed in houses though, they had an electric heater out and it was still a bit chilly!

@Daffodil21 glad you got a good swim in!!!

@Whatshouldbemyusername oh amazing, I really want to book one but struggling locally. I know cowshed do them but the nearest one where you done need to be a member is the Ned or primrose hill which are a bit of a trek, when things reopen I’ll try and get one and make a day of it! I always find they never last long enough cos the hour so flies by!

@lucyrp I woke up with belly rumbles at 5am! Is this a sign of things to come with early feeds?!

@alittlexmasmagic ohh enjoy your weekend away, sounds lush!!!

Hope everyone has a great Sunday, I’m chilling today and will probably be researching baby bouncers lol xx

Daffodil21 · 02/05/2021 10:21

@lucyrp @Inmypjsagain I always wake up really hungry too!

I had the most delicious cheesecake at around 9pm last night - never again! Definitely paid for that through the night and had to go and find the gaviscon at 2am - lesson learnt!

Pregnancy massage sounds lovely!!!
