I finally did it! I finally managed to hand express a little!

Humpty11 · 23/05/2021 10:43

@Sitchervice yay! Well done! It’s such a massive sense of achievement when the little droplets come out, isn’t it?

Waitingforbabypage · 23/05/2021 10:51

Yaaayyyy! Nice one!
Lovethatjourneyforme · 23/05/2021 12:20

@AIRRRR I had general heartburn on and off throughout the day, sometimes nausea as well though not necessarily whilst I had heartburn, if that makes sense. And excessive burping 😅 Was never sick but I think it's quite common for reflux to cause sickness in pregnancy

AnxiousAnnie86 · 23/05/2021 12:49

@Penny2020 how are you getting on lovely? X

AlRRRR · 23/05/2021 13:16

@Lovethatjourneyforme I’ve started having water between meals and not eating after 4pm. I sleep around 10pm.

I got some Rennie’s also and I’m taking those twice a day. So hopefully it’ll make a difference!

@Penny2020 I was also wondering how it’s all gone!

AlRRRR · 23/05/2021 13:16

@Sitchervice once it starts, you’re on your way there!

Sitchervice · 23/05/2021 14:56

Thanks guys I was a little worried because of how sensitive my boobs and nips have been. Worried I wouldn't stand it, but it was shockingly not too bad!

Lovethatjourneyforme · 23/05/2021 15:22

@AIRRRR fingers crossed for you, because it doesn't sound nice! Not what you need in your last weeks. If it is reflux though and rennies and lifestyle change etc doesn't quite cut it (which it didn't for me eventually), I 100% recommend omeprazole. Absolute game changer and worked within a couple of days. Wish I'd got it sooner tbh, no point struggling if you don't need to!

Nesski · 23/05/2021 15:24

@Lovethatjourneyforme I find that omeprazole leaves a sour taste constantly in the back of my throat, just makes me feel so ill all day! Do you have any side effects from it?

Lovethatjourneyforme · 23/05/2021 15:32

@Nesski no I can't say I've noticed any negatives to be honest! I think there were alternatives to it, maybe one of those would work better for you. I think Omeprazole is just the go-to usually.

northerngal20 · 23/05/2021 15:43

@Penny2020 hope all is going well - thinking of you!!

i've had a bit of a crazy week, i was diagnosed with cholestasis and also identified to be at risk of developing preeclampsia which is a bit scary! i've got to go in now twice a week for monitoring/bloods/growth scans -- not what you want to hear right at the end! i'm 35+3 at the moment so hoping that i can make it a few more weeks, but then i might need to be induced early depending on how things are going. scary times!

AlRRRR · 23/05/2021 15:53

@northerngal20 Ooo gosh, so sorry to hear that but glad you’ve been seen and plan of action in place!

Did you have symptoms of it and just go in and see someone? x

northerngal20 · 23/05/2021 15:58

thanks @AlRRRR! hope you're feeling ok - rennies really are a life saver aren't they! i'm impressed you manage to not eat after 4pm haha! not really any obvious symptoms - i just mentioned at my midwife appointment i'd been feeling a bit itchy (i'd put it down to dry skin tbh!) so she took some bloods, then i got called the next day telling me to go to the maternity unit straight away and they ran a bunch of other tests/sent me for a scan at the fetal medicine unit. it all happened so quickly! trying to wrap my head around the fact we might have our baby much sooner than we thought we would! but just taking each day as it comes now and hoping the baby will be ok!

TingTingx · 23/05/2021 16:02

I'm due 17th June, first baby and it's a girl :)
Can't believe how many people are due in June too!

AlRRRR · 23/05/2021 16:22

@northerngal20 Oh gosh! Just a bit itchy on the bump or all over body? My MW told me to watch out for it, which is why I asked about your symptoms!

luckily I’m not a snacker, so I just eat bfast, lunch and a small dinner around 4 ish, and then don’t really feel hungry 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’m getting lots of tightenings/BH - maybe 10 times a day too, so I feel I’m not too near the end either! (2nd baby) 35+ 4 too like you!

Is it your 1st?

Penny2020 · 23/05/2021 18:48

Hi everyone, tried everything to get contractions going ok Friday with very little success so ended up going in for an induction on Saturday morning. I’ll bare you the grisly details but it was a long and brutal induction, ended up on a hormone drip and epidural, two things I was hoping to avoid but most importantly baby girl arrived this morning safe a well. Just tucked up in hospital bed for first sleep in 60 hours. DH had to go home sadly.
Wishing you all the very best in the coming month!!

Nesski · 23/05/2021 19:02

@Penny2020 congratulations!!!! 60 hours, wow, sounds really brutal but you got there in the end xxx

Humpty11 · 23/05/2021 19:06

@Penny2020 massive congratulations and I’m glad she’s here safely now. Sorry you had a tough ride to get there but you made it! I hope you’re not having to stay in hospital for too long.

TerryRose · 23/05/2021 19:17

@Penny2020 well done !! So glad she got here safely , sounds like a hard labour so well done you , enjoy this time now 😍

AnxiousAnnie86 · 23/05/2021 20:14

@Penny2020 congratulations!!!! Get some well
Deserved sleep! Xx

ChasingARainbow · 23/05/2021 20:37

I'm another one recommending the Omeprazole, it's stopped all my reflux and heartburn symptoms.
@Penny2020 congratulations, hope you get some sleep x

Suite88 · 23/05/2021 20:43

@Penny2020 Congratulations! I hope you are able to get some well earned sleep now.

BlondePotter · 23/05/2021 20:59

@Penny2020 congratulations! She's here now, that's the main thing and enjoy the newborn cuddles xx

Congratulations @Penny2020. I hope you got some good tea and toast after that and get some rest.
Busy week here too after last weekends 3 day admission, they have managed to get my BP down with medication, and sent me home. I have then bounced in and out of hospital all week went my BP creeps above 150/90, so induction is booked. Now im desperately trying to go into natural labour. I'm bounced on my ball for 4 hours today, expressing 3x/day, eating all the dates. But on Friday I was only 2/5 engaged. I cannot stand raspberry tea. I'm having an Indian Tues and may tackle DH later Grin. Any other tips?!
