So I've decided to play chicken and haven't washed any baby stuff until I finish work at 36.5 weeks which is in two weeks time, husband is panicking and asking if we can do it sooner, not going to post this on the AIBU thread but... AIBU? Grin

Waitingforbabypage · 14/05/2021 07:53

@AnxiousAnnie86 my feet swell, and last night my legs were huge. It was more the fact that even my bump went purple. Scary stuff.

@Nesski I reckon you'll be fine. I only washed the few bits that are in my hospital bag I need to do the rest at some point.

Sitchervice · 14/05/2021 07:54

@Santatizer congratulations!! So exciting, one sneeky May baby! She couldn't wait!

@Waitingforbabypage oh nooo! Hopefully if can be sorted.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 14/05/2021 07:57

@Waitingforbabypage they may put you on blood thinners as a precaution? I'm on tinzaparin injections daily, have been since day one! Or baby may be putting pressure on vena cava? The main artery in your back? they will get you sorted don't worry! Lucky you have a consultant app!!! I've found my midwife doesn't seem to know much!! She always tell me to contact antenatal day unit! X

swiftt · 14/05/2021 08:01

@Santatizer oh congratulations! Flowers

Hi ladies. Just popping in! So pleased I found the up to date chat. I can’t believe we’ve all been on this journey right from the early testing days to our babies being due any week now! It’s nice to read a few others have been having period like pains; they’ve been the bane of my life lately and I asked a midwife but she said it’s just baby engaging so fingers crossed things are moving in the right direction! I bought an exercise anti burst ball off of eBay the other day and just admit it’s the comfiest thing I’ve sat on for a while although it does keep needing a re pump up every now and then!

Has anyone been able to look around where they want to give birth? I plan to give birth as the midwife suite attached to the hospital in case anything goes wrong due to low papp-a but nothing has been offered. I’ve been having midwife appointments at the local midwife ran service and just wondered if because of covid they were keeping things quite strict. I didn’t know if it varies area to area?

AlRRRR · 14/05/2021 09:18

@Sweetmad Hi, I’ve been having my midwife app’s at the birth centre as they run a continuity service where you have them all there if that’s where you want to birth.

Before that, up to 28 weeks, I was seeing the midwife at my GP’s.

Partners can come to the birth centre for all app’s as it’s a stand alone one and the hospital does not deal with any pregnancy issues and is a covid free site so has green status.

I was able to look around when having my apps there. I just spoke to my midwife at 28 week app and she transferred me there :)

It’s a really quiet place, averages 2 births per week 🤣🤣🤣

Sweetmad · 14/05/2021 09:21

@AIRRRR wow 2 births a week that is quiet aha! I have my 36 week appointment at the end of the month followed by a consultant telephone appointment so I will ask then. Just can’t believe how quick it’s all coming round.

Has anyone else had good fun trying to fit the isofix base into the car? My partner was adamant he knew what he was doing and after some strong swear words it’s back on the floor of the nursery looking none the wiser 😂😂

AnxiousAnnie86 · 14/05/2021 09:30

When does a midwife normally run through a birth plan?? I'm having a c section but I've heard you can still make requests x

swiftt · 14/05/2021 09:42

@AnxiousAnnie86 my midwife discussed my birth plan at my 36 week appointment.

Happy2be · 14/05/2021 09:51

@Santatizer congratulations!! So happy to see baby is doing well. I have been thinking of you since you posted about your waters going. 🥰

Nesski · 14/05/2021 09:54

@AnxiousAnnie86 at my 36 week said the midwife. I asked if we will talk about the drugs on offer, I got an extremely raised one-browed gaze with a 'you mean pain management'. Horses for courses, same difference!!!

Sitchervice · 14/05/2021 09:58

@AnxiousAnnie86 I down loaded a birth plan pack so I've already got mine written out. Did this a little while ago just incase they wanted my little one out early. (placenta issue)

I haven't done anything formal yet with midwife but I thought if somthing happened I can show them my birth plan.

Sitchervice · 14/05/2021 10:02

@Sweetmad I have low papp-a too and been seening an obstertrition, I think things were worse than what they made out to be as they told me I'll be induced. Also the sonographer at my last growth scan told me they were concerned (I wasn't told this 😒) but that things look like they've caught up!

They haven't told me where I'm going to be giving birth but I have a feeling it'll be delivery suite

Sweetmad · 14/05/2021 10:16

@Sitchervice did they give you a date for induction? I’ve read online that with Papp-a they don’t like babies going over 40 weeks so I wonder if I’ll be offered induction after my last scan! How has your growth been throughout? I’ve found it’s been very difficult as some weeks a doctor will say it’s fine then there’s a big change at the next scan then things drop again it’s all very mind messing! Hope you’re okay! X

Bleubird · 14/05/2021 10:25

@Santatizer congratulations! Pleased to hear you're both doing well! Enjoy your baby cuddles xx

Sweetmad · 14/05/2021 10:53

@Santatizer congratulations! 💕

Sitchervice · 14/05/2021 12:04

@Sweetmad no dates yet. The obstertrition says she will discuss it on my last meet with her. A week before due date. 🤔

I think growth has been fine. But like I said the sonographer let slip that at one point they were worried so I have no clue.

northerngal20 · 14/05/2021 12:47

yay @Santatizer congratulations!!!

MimiDaisy11 · 14/05/2021 13:26

@Santatizer
Congrats! Hope you're doing well!

It's getting real now Shock

Hope everyone is doing well!

BlondePotter · 14/05/2021 14:23

@Santatizer congratulations!! So exciting to see the first baby announcement

3 hours on the ball?! I can do half hour then I get a numb bum 🤣

OP posts:
AnxiousAnnie86 · 14/05/2021 14:24

I wouldn't have time to sit on a ball for three hours! 😂 unless I use it as my office chair??

northerngal20 · 14/05/2021 15:01

i use mine as my office chair! but i do get a slightly achey hips/pelvis after a while, definitely feels like it's opening things up!

DLHJune24 · 14/05/2021 16:50

@Santatizer Congratulations! So exciting! Glad you and baby are doing well.

I’ve also been using the ball as another option for my office chair, switch them out through the day and it’s helped with some lower back ache which I was getting through the night.

BlondePotter · 14/05/2021 20:35

This baby is soooo active this evening, the rolls have been extreme, I'm getting beaten in the vag area and some very hard body parts trying to poke through to the outside 😩
I usually love the movements but now I just want a rest from them 🙈
